This book is written like this! In every single chapter! It's all very exclamation-y! Wow, does it get on my nerves!
But it makes me feel a little like a big jerk saying so. Pretty much my entire experience of reading this book made me feel like a big critical jerk.
The writing is very earnest and sincere, but simple. Very simple. So criticizing it feels a little like telling a second grader that their thesis statement needs work. I mean, the author's heart is clearly in the right place and probably, if I took her workshop, I'd have a super fun time and probably go home having discovered or learned something. She seems like a real nice lady with some fun ideas. However - every time she'd say something about a critic or an editor I'd think, "Gee, I wish you'd had an editor. And seriously, why did you print all these pictures of these crappy puppets? Maybe you should have listened to that critic! These are the worst puppets I've ever seen!"
See?!? Terrible. Makes me feel like a terrible person.
I appreciated all the shout outs she gave to Improbable Theatre, however. Probably if she'd printed pictures of some of their puppets instead of hers I'd be able to take her a little more seriously.
Also, what is process psychology? She kept referring to it - but what in the world is it?
I was interested in the overlap with Quantum Physics she just barely touched on. I guess that's her husband's work. Maybe I should read his book instead. Probably there are fewer exclamations!!!
