Wen is a tour guide for a state of the art underwater park until she's recruited to help a small team explore a strange tunnel under a oceanic trench. One that leads deep under the surface, not far from the Earth’s core. But what they find at the end of the tunnel defies everything they’ve ever known. A lost world. A place of beauty…and ravenous teeth.
What was supposed to be a simple in and out mission is soon filled with conspiracy and the ultimate fight for survival against the vicious predators stalking them. With their way back home blocked, all bets are off.

I had high hopes for this book and it really started off pretty good except for the profanity. But I have seen worst. It just distracts from the story. The story was decent but made me dizzy trying to figure out the relationships and what direction the plot was going. I could I guess put up with most of it but the ending just...ended. It went out with a fizzle. Oh well...have at it. The cover is misleading.
Wow!!! Part Jurassic Park, part 47 Meters Down, part Walking Dead, 100% action... is there anything this book doesn't offer??? Lucas Pederson does it again with his book Below the Earth. This will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end!!! Put it on your "To Read" list now.... like RIGHT now! I'll wait........ did you do it??? I cannot wait until he publishes another book!!!
This was an unexpected pleasure to read. The Characters were good with some realist quirks. There are several twists that I did not see coming but fit nicely into the storyline. There could easily be another book in there somewhere.
Some unique characters and a very imaginative adventure make this a fun little sci fi horror adventure story. Not my fave from Lucas Pederson, but still worth a read.
Let's take everything that nerd culture loves right now, toss it into a blender and then see what happens. What happens is a random assortment of characters with no depth, insane plot twists, a protagonist whose heart is always about to explode out of her chest and creatures that couldn't possibly exist.
Lots of mistakes both grammar and science. There's no such word as "unthawed". It's either thawed or frozen. There's not enough oxygen in water, especially deep seawater to support mammalian life.
