This book was hard to finish, but it’s a light read, so I did and...not a fan. Dean is a good guy with a great mission, but this book could’ve served as a blog as I found that he was repetitive and the language was childish. The most significant takeaway for me is to stay hungry especially when you’ve achieved your initial goals. Thanks, Dean.

It was good at different points, but it was not a book that moved me as I would have expected. The book could have been half the length and been more powerful from my perspective. I do appreciate the challenges at the end of each chapter. None of the challenges are really worth mentioning to me, but maybe for others they would be helpful. I only say that because the challenges are already things that I have done recently or in the past.

The good thing about this book is the re-readability of it. I can see myself picking up this book in the future as I have developed some success and gut checking myself to see if I am still approaching things with the same mentality that brought me success in the first place.

I would suggest this book to someone who feels like they may have lost their edge. To someone who feels like they are not as hungry as they were in the past. This book would be a good reminder of what it takes to make change happen and get to that next version of yourself.

I read some of the criticisms before the book, so I'll address that first. It's not an amazing read in technical standards, if you're an English teacher. But most of us aren't.

It was an easy read, very conversational, and very moving. I've read worse, by some of the "leading movers" out there, to be honest. If you've followed Dean as long as I have, you'll understand he writes as he speaks (literally). Wanna poke fun at a guy with dyslexia, who's written more successful books, copy, and programs than most of us combined? Knock yourself out—that's your karma. I however, enjoyed his book immensely, just as I've enjoyed the others. Yes, it feels like he typed it and hit publish, but it's now in my hands... and I'm eternally grateful for that.

He uses foul language occasionally, but effectively. I appreciate an "f-bomb" or the use of "sh*t" here and there, as it feels more authentic... it's used as often as we use in daily conversation but not excessively. I'm not a fan of books with expletives in the title, by the way—that's a marketing gimmick. Dean uses this language to connect and motivated, not sell a book.

I had trouble putting it down, hence finishing it in 3 days. I'm eternally curious, so I enjoyed the details behind the stories I knew (his recent divorce, his first book publishing debauchery, his childhood). Most importantly, I appreciated HOW those stories became his advantage. Some of these tricks I knew—I grew up very similar to Dean, so I practice many of these techniques—resourcefulness is practically my middle name. But... there was still a TON I learned from this book.

#7 was the one advantage I struggle with and is the most important one to conquer, if you have "an issue selling." If you're going to thrive with your message, you need to nail persuasion. He shared a story of a healer who works with victims of postpartum, and how she viewed "selling." Maybe it was reading this at dusk, in the dead of winter, in a dark store, on the 17th anniversary of my mother's death... whatever it was, I couldn't hold back the tears. It finally clicked...

I FINALLY figured out my avatar, thanks to this one story. The missing piece I've struggled with for 2 years—the very person I've tried to define—the woman I want to serve... there she was, right on that page. I sat for the next 20 minutes, writing everything I knew about her. (No, she wasn't anyone he shared in the book; it was the words in the story that made my avatar come alive.)

For no other reason than this, the book is worth 5x its weight in gold. Maybe you won't find your avatar as I did, but I guarantee if you do the work at the end of each chapter, you'll get a lot out of it.

Here's the thing: what he says may not be revolutionary for you. For some of you, it will be. What IS revolutionary is how he helps you realign your past or current situation. You'll get tools to make life move forward, IF you do the work. (I know from experience and reading the reviews, most people are missing on the implementation aspect he offers at the end of each chapter.)

My only criticism is whether I'd want to be privileged AFTER reading this book. He explains the difference well, but it seems we have more options as an underdog. Tapping in to those 7 advantages we have on the bottom is going to be difficult for many. Maintaining the Underdog Mindset will be a challenge, but that's why you re-read the book, right?

All in all, a book I'll definitely read again, especially since it was such an easy read.

“Underdogs are people that you never see coming.” (p. 28)

This book could have been written from one of his seminars as it is how he speaks when sharing his “Underdog” story of disadvantaged youth, father at 16, divorced, used car salesman who makes good—all while diagnosed with dyslexia later in life. Basically, an Underdog is already at the low end of the totem pole, so what is there to lose to put it all on the line to strive to do better and take chances? Dean (he’s very user-friendly, like sitting down with a friend!!) gives stories of other Underdogs throughout history to show he’s not the only one to find phenomenal success, starting off with George Washington.

One reviewer said, “I found that he was repetitive and the language was childish. The most significant takeaway for me is to stay hungry especially when you’ve achieved your initial goals. Thanks, Dean.” That is the advantage, according to Dean—staying in the Underdog mindset when you are no longer in that position to keep the success and forward momentum alive. This concept applies to life in general and not just in business to keep bettering yourself in all areas.

With practical lessons at the end of each chapter, you get to implement what you’ve just learned in a more personal practical/practiced way to success or breaking your own barriers to jump the rut you’ve been put in.

Puntaje: 1 Estrella

I love Dean's concept of hardship not only being part of life, but it is also really paying success tax. When you respond well to challenges and obstacles in your path, then you earn the right to enjoy more success.

The concept of technical debt is one many people that work in IT understand clearly. The ability to walk the fine line between maintaining what you have and improving it or building something new is a difficult one. It is the same in our personal life where we might be lucky enough to enjoy some success without earning it. That is what happens to people with privilege. But the success bill comes due and they will need to work to grow their success or sometimes even to keep it.

This is a great book that is written in a very conversational tone, like sitting down with the author and letting him tell you about the lessons he has learned.

This review is more of the same bad reviews you'll find here.

It's an easy read, very easy language, just like reading the transcript of one of his videos. You can just read what an underdog is at the beggining of the book, and you'd be ready to go. The rest of the book is him just repeating you should keep that minset and giving dedicating a whole chapter to tell you a life story of how he applied it in a situation.

It's not a life changing book, it's very repetitive, nothing you haven't heard of already if you've been in this self-improvement world for a while. Sometimes I felt like he was repeating the same thing over and over again with different words and examples just to fill out more pages... Like he could've written an ebook of 60 pages going straight to the point but he needed 300+ to sell it as a book.

That moment when someone realizes I do, indeed, know my shit used to be my one of my favorite things in the world. I used to relish in surprising people. Now, I'm older, I'm a little worn, and I'm just disappointed that people don't see that potential in everyone. Because EVERYONE has potential. I think that's what I do like about Dean Graziosi - he sees it. #underdog

I read many reviews where people were put off by cursing. One person even edited his book with a sharpie. I had to think about it - I don't remember a whole lot of cursing. But then I said shit in my first review line, so maybe I just am unfamiliar with such a delicate world. Don't let those reviews put you off - the ideas in the book are valid and good.

First I want to put my review into context. I reserve my 5 stars only to book I find extraordinary! Books I really love get 3 and 4 depending on the writing.
I love Dean and following him on KBB has changed my life; but if you already follow Dean on other platforms, chances are you have already heard everything this book covers and in a better way!
2 stars because I felt sometimes like he was a broken record... I like the content and if you’ve never heard of him please read the book and also read Millionaire Success Habits (which I liked much more) and follow him on social platforms... He is amazing!

My Dad taught me the underdog mentality, without him or I really knowing it, probably because he was always an underdog in life.

This book, minus having to edit bits bad language out of my own copy with a sharpie, brought back to me the drive and passion of using what seems to be against you, into a power that can be drawn upon to knock down the wall-break through the wall-dig under the wall-or jump over the wall with what resources one currently has. I'm ready to get to war with my dreams and make it happen with help from a loving Father in Heaven.

If you’re looking for a boost, this is it!

This great little book is perfect when you’re looking for a boost to get things done. Each morning I would read a chapter and it would remind me to keep going, even when I didn’t feel like it. It would remind me to listen to that inner voice that keeps telling me to move forward, rather than the many external voices telling me to slow down, do less, be afraid.

If you’re looking for a book that’s like a great pep talk from a good friend, then this is the book. Sometimes that’s all we need to get going.

This was a quick and easy (two sittings) read with a great point - the power of fighting from a position of weakness. I found this a powerful shot in the arm for those struggling to find their way out from under, as well as an important reminder to maintain that underdog mindset when we realize a level of success, lest we become complacent.
Dean's got a bit of a potty mouth. That aside, I recommend the book :)

Awesome read! Learned how to turn “disadvantages” into advantages, and weaknesses into strengths. Underdogs have nothing to lose and don’t have to follow the rules. You have ever reason to go for it and accomplish your dreams. A year from now you may wish you’d started today. Enjoyed all the personal stories and examples of other underdogs who didn’t take NO for an answer. Feeling motivated to give it all I got. ✊🏾

The best thing in the book was the last chapter on sales. The part where selling was connected with our purpose and how not selling can be our disservice to the world.

The book is simple and direct. I won't say it has something unique or that it talks about something never said.

It can be considered as a compilation of all the things we can remind ourselves to build a better future and to learn to use our potential.

This is a great quick read book. If you read a lot of self development books then you probably won’t find anything new here, but what you will find are simple to understand real examples that explain each ‘underdog advantage’.

Dean has an ability to make things easy to understand and this book is a classic example of that.

Main focus: How to use challenges and lack to your advantage. You may not have had advantages growing up, but that doesn't mean you can't do great things. You can. Many successful people were underdogs who used that to their advantage. And you can too. Just follow Dean's advice and find your superhero. It's inside you waiting to emerge.

All in all is was a good read but there were some strong language I’d rather not have in a book I’m reading. I was expecting more insights as the book was so hyped up as his best book ever.
My take away:
We all have dreams and we should never let situations or others to stop pursuing your dream. Obstacles will come but giving up is not an option.

Dean is as always very authentic in this book, but I expected something more deep in terms of distinctions to put into practice. The last chapter was for me the summary of his message, which I value, but it didn’t really add much for me this time.
