This is episode 6 of “Cracking Ice”, please start on episode 1
Watching Keenan speak out for omega rights, Carry has come to see pretending won't make the world a fairer place, but the revolution neither intended to spark is bringing them closer each day... Can they resist? And should they?
Hockey was everything to them both… until they met each other. All Keenan Avali wants to do is play hockey. It doesn’t matter that he’s an alpha, he’s got no interest in dominating anywhere but on the ice. When Cartwright Johnson joins the Hell’s Flames, he expects to play hard to compensate for being an omega who dared to pursue a professional hockey career. After his last team traded him, he is not making the mistake of falling for a teammate ever again. He’s sure he’s got the control to keep his pants on and his heart closed... until he meets Keenan Avali. An omega can't trust an alpha, much less one as hot as Avali, but nobody can fail to see they play together like they were made for it. But for how long can they be the perfect teammates on ice when they can't stand to look at each other off it?
N.J. Lysk (pronouns: whatever) is a queer one—in almost every sense of the word—for whom stories have always been their one true home. She studied linguistics and literature (which is to say, someone offered him a genuine excuse to read professionally) and ended up teaching, but writing is their one true love.
Addicted to angst, enamoured of mpreg and always ready to try a new kink (in a book, that’s it!) she became hooked into the Omegaverse through fanfic (but he doesn't have the patience to write other people's characters) and has recently expanded from werewolves to hockey players.

The season is over. Keenan has to be honest to himself, if he wasn’t wanted, he should stop being wanted. It isn’t good. Keenan travels home to his parents. Talking with Sven he mentioned Amalia, that he loved her and... for a freaking moment I misunderstood the situation. Even with the pause, Keenan can’t stop thinking about Carry. And it’s ditto with Carry. But knowing Carry, there will be no process, Carry only wants his freedom. Keenan tries to go on without his true mate.
Carry got issues with his suppressants and he knows he can trust Keenan, not to bite or bond him. He is conflicted, can he ask to have sex with him? No, no there are other Alphas. Still, it’s nagging in his head.
Finally, FINALLY Carry understands what real freedom is. I wanted to fall on my knees and kiss the ground he was on.
Dang what a hard read. I almost disliked Carry all over again. I’m trying hard and wanted to understand him, I did at some points, but he makes it difficult for himself, he isn’t quite lovable. Then, he starts to open up, omg I can’t believe my eyes. Like all the installments before this is an amazingly written story. A journey I’m so happy to be part of, its exceptional in every way. A well thought out plot. The characters are excellently developed, I’m a bit overwhelmed.
Gah! This episode is so angsty that I wanted to smack them both! At the same time, it was incredible to see Carry start to come into his own. It shows how much he’s grown as a character and the revelation isn’t easy. Keenan does some growing of his own, but it’s a lot more subtle as he comes to grips with his own reality. I can’t wait to see how it wraps up in the last episode.
Love does not necessarily exclude equal rights. Slow realization, for both guys, that what they have is not just instinct but strong feelings based on much more than their alpha/omega attraction. Each has help to try understand themselves, friends, family members, even a doctor, but denial is still excruciatingly strong. Finally separated from each other, with the hockey season over and each in a separate area, they can think without constant contact, and also become more or less involved with the revolutionary ideas of equality and the people who have helped start that movement - besides Keernan. The cliffhanger at the end , combined with wondering what will happen with that the extreme longing they each feel at the absence of the other, absolutely must be followed up, rushing on to read the next installment in this fascinating omegaverse immediately!
Ep6 Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. End of season. A holiday break was maybe just what Keenan and Carry needed time away from the bond and each other just to see the truth. Some truths are harder to deal with when facing your own self. Keenan is an alpha with the Omega caring genrewhile Carry is the opposite. If it wasn't for protocol could they could have talked this out by now? One want freedom while the other is trying to help everyone have the same right. Will Carry ever be able just admit to his feelings or will fear of loss of freedom hold him back.
I love this serial and the world it is set in. I love all the characters and I am desperate for them to get a happy ending although I don't want the story to end! The emotions of the characters really come through in the writing without being melodramatic. I love Thomas and the straight talking he doles out when necessary. I want to get to know Carry and Keenan's sisters and I am intrigued by V.
I can't wait for the next installment but I am sad it will be the last.
Keenan's crusade for the rights of omegas has cost him his relationship with his girlfriend but brought him closer to Carry. Can he find it in himself to have a relationship with Carry an6not bond with him? Can Keenan admit he's fallen in love with a man after years of denying any attraction to men? Can Carry really trust Keenan's sincerely?
