Army Nurse Major Grace Ann Riley I now put in the next line of threat. When a Army helicopter is sent on a mission and she was suppose to be on that plane someone pulls her off and put Army Nurse Kevin Sayer in the helicopter which had a mechanical problem and the helicopter crashed leaving Kevin with a spinal injury. Grace Ann is going through alot from being put on suspension and feeling like she should be in the hospital bed instead of Kevin. She starts getting all the trouble in the hospital stairway and the things happen at her home. Grace Ann is no quiter she does not give up. Derek has been around her so much that she see finally realizes her real feelings for him and he has the same feelings coming to realize he doesn't want to leave her. After saving people at a restaurant bombing and sent to be with her family . While at the mall hostage situation and her Army nurse kicks in the help people without being noticed or killed. She did have minor injuries. While being check out at the hospital Derek asks her to marry him. I will stop here otherwise it will spoil the ending. This is a book the romance with suspense in it and I would recommend it to anyone who love romance and suspense. It is written with in a fantastic way. It tugs at your heart and it made me mad in some places.Regan you hit this one right out of the ballpark with show of emotion. I found myself in your book again as I was reading it.

Army RN Grace Ann Riley has a friends with benefits relationship with Derek Sayer. When Derek's brother and, Grace's best friend Kevin is severely injured in a helicopter training drill that she was supposed to be on, she is devastated and, guilty. She should have been the one in that helicopter but, her orders had been changed by the higher ups. Grace doesn't understand why but, having grown up in an Army family, she understands how the chain of command works.
Grace is then told that she is on administrative leave because of an investigation centered on her about something that happened during her last overseas tour.
She is furious and, confused but, when Derek decides to spend most of his time with her and, help her to figure this out, she hates to admit it but, she's happy he's there to help.
Problem is that someone has been going after Grace's family for over a year.First, her brother Matt and, now her. They are beginning to realize that this is some sort of payback for some perceived wrong that her father, the general, has perpetrated when he was a commander overseas during the Iraq war.
The whole family closes ranks, accepting Derek with open arms, much to Grace's dismay. They shouldn't be getting this close as Grace doesn't believe she has the capacity to love anyone.
Derek will do anything to keep Grace happy and safe, no matter whatever wall he has to remove on the way to her heart!
This was a very fast-paced, don't want to put it down, read!

Grace Ann is a Riley to the core. She may be a little...strained since her last deployment but she does NOT have PTSD. The Riley's bleed Army (and black sheep SEALs) but they do not crack - ever. But when she almost loses her best friend in a helicopter crash, one that she should have been travelling on instead, her nightmares are only really beginning.
Was it mechanical malfunction or has her fathers elusive enemy returned? How can she face Derek knowing that she almost got his brother killer?
Derek is the epitome of safe. A lawyer doesn't do adrenaline! But he gets more than enough of that from his infrequent liaisons with Grace Ann. The agreement suited them both but now he realises he has a lot more than a friend to lose. He almost lost his brother and he has no intention of losing Grace Ann too. He soon finds himself up to his neck in trouble and dealing with unseen threats is more than he is used to. He is used to planning for his day in court, not dodging bullets!
Derek is not your typical action hero, that's for sure. Way more cerebral than some but he still has that protective streak we look for. He may not know one end of a fun from another but he still steps into the breach when Grace Ann needs him, whether she wants to accept his help or not. Grace Ann may "just be a nurse" to outsiders but she is the glue that holds patients and their families together. She has seen combat up close and dirty and has the nightmares to prove it. Great storyline and I enjoyed seeing Derek face down the Riley bulletproof shield!
Looking forward to see what happens next!

Book 2 in a series. I enjoyed the story. And will now need to look out for other books in this series so I know what's going to happen to the rest of the Riley family. In the meantime, I enjoyed the story of Grace Ann and Derek. And I'm sure to see them mentioned in the future books.

I love a strong heroine, and Grace Ann certainly fits that description. Her family has been put through the ringer, and now it is her turn. I really loved her with Derek. As a lawyer, he's something of an outcast with this military bunch, but he still fits right in and shows his protective instincts. The suspense was interesting, and I liked the different twists thrown in. However, it was the romance that made this story for me, and I loved seeing them move beyond their previous casual arrangement and face their fears to be together. Loved it!

His Soldier Under Siege is another wonderful romantic military suspense by author Regan Black! This second book in The Riley Code series is a standalone, but also a great series read. Grace Ann Riley is a strong willed Army nurse who struggles to open her heart to love and help, no matter how desperately she needs to. Derek Sayer is a non-military friend wanting to help her figure out who is trying to hurt her and her family.
Author Regan Black has once again written an intriguing well-written storyline! This is an intense, romantic, and enjoyable book that I would completely recommend! 4.5 stars!

Awesome book. Great story-line. Grace Ann Riley is a tough Major medic. She gets everything thrown at her, but she is not alone in her fight. Derek Sayer is a protector and will fight along with her. Love the well-developed characters. Looking forward to the next story in the Riley Code series.

The second in the Riley Code series, Regan Black continues the stories of a disgruntled former soldier’s quest to make his former commander pay for his discharge from the Army. This is a quick read with plenty of suspense and romance to hold your interest to the end.

Grace Ann is the eldest daughter of the Riley family. The Riley Hunter has his sights set on her ultimately hurting their father. Lots of action with a touch of romance fills the pages that had me eagerly turning the pages and patiently waiting for the next book.

Sorry but i was annoyed to read this whole story, only to have it end with no capture of the bad guy at the end.
The backstory was good but the writer obviously had a word limit and ran out before winding it up properly.

This is second book in the Riley Code series, but each book is a standalone. Same family with the same unknown villain who always seems a step ahead . Totally enjoyed the story with Grace Ann Riley and Derek Sayer as they stayed alive while figuring out their relationship. I did receive this book as part of the review crew but would have purchased anyway as I have been reading Regan Black’s books for quite awhile. Will definitely be reading the next book.

His Soldier Under Siege, the second book in Black’s Riley Code series is a great read. This book can be read as a stand-alone but since the series centers around the all the Riley family members (each sibling in their own story) I suggest reading the series in order to gain a better understanding of the family saga as a whole and get to know the characters as well as their crossovers into the other stories in the series. Each book is centered around its’ own couple and their happy ending but has a continuing storyline that will span the entire series.
The overall storyline revolves around payback by a madman dubbed as the “Riley Hunter” out for revenge on General Benjamin Riley by going after his five children. The first book, A Soldier’s Honor, centers on the oldest sibling, Matt Riley, and his love interest, Bethany Trent. This second book centers on Grace Ann and her love interest (friend and secret on/off relationship) Derek Sayer. Grace Ann is a major and Army nurse stationed at Walter Reed Hospital. She and Derek have a friends-with-benefits “secret” relationship when their schedules allow but upfront to others they have a professional/friendship and keep a respectable distance not to draw attention. However, when Grace Ann’s best friend and Derek’s brother, Kevin, is in the hospital due to a horrible accident (that maybe was not?), recovering from surgery, their paths once again collide. Guilt weighs heavily on Grace Ann as she was supposed to be the one injured; it should be her in that bed recovering, not Kevin. Seeing Derek brings forth all sorts of emotions she has to confront and deal with along with being attacked by an unknown assailant, several mishaps that may or may not be deliberate, suspended and under investigation framed for misdeeds conducted on a past mission and worrying about the madman stalking her and her family. Grace Ann and Derek have their work cut out for them as they dive into the mystery of the Riley Hunter devising a plan to defeat him as well as confronting their true feelings for each other.
I loved the characters' connections and their gradual progression from the friends-with-benefits to an actual relationship. They had a wonderful bond to start with and I enjoyed seeing it develop to more. I also really enjoyed Derek’s character. He’s not the run of the mill hero and he is out of his element but has no problem stepping up and jumping into the line of fire when someone he loves is in danger. The two of them made a great team.
This book is full of suspense, an unfolding mystery, strong family ties, drama, action, and romance with relatable characters and an intriguing storyline with twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages. Though Grace Ann and Derek find their happy ending, there is definitely more to come. I am looking forward to the next Riley siblings’ story.

I think I'm the odd one out because I didn't get into this story.
Army nurse, Major Grace Ann Riley and attorney Derek Sayer are supposedly "friends with benefits" who get together a few times a year when she is caught up in a a stalker's elaborate plot to humiliate her father, General Ben Riley. Derek's younger brother -- Kevin -- is also an army nurse and has been injured in a helicopter ctash when he subbed for Grace on a training mission.
Derek & Grace don't want anyone to know they are more than casual acquaintances, linked through his brother & her coworker (The now injured Kevin). Derek & Grace have deliberately kept their get togethers strictly casual & secret & both have dated others. Things are so casual, that both are extremely uncomfortable when the stalker attacks on Grace require Derek to stay at her place. (They live about an hour apart and have never seen each other's homes.)
I found Grace rigid and unlikable. She's a dedicated Army Nurse and that is her entire life. Derek has no interest in any kind of a even semi permanent relationship with a woman. Their sole common point of interest is that they both enjoy going camping together & having sex with each other. (I almost DNFd this as I found their arrangement felt a bit too casual for my tastes.) I wouldn't even call them Friends with Benefits because they know so little about each other '--- and are totally fine with that. I would call them "casual acquaintances who get together every few months to frolic in the woods" with benefits. Derek has to confront that he might be unsatisfied not really knowing Grace. Being forced together for more than a romp in the sleeping bag -- with zero emotional commitment -- is also making Grace rethink the benefits of keeping Derek at arm's length. Gee, he might be handy to have around. Derek discovers he's a little miffed that his brother knows Grace better than he does. Should he change that?
The stalker threatens and tries to humiliate Grace but when his antics don't succeed because of Derek's presence, his threats ramp up. Both have to decide what is really important.
This is book 2 in a series. Heat level 1.
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but this wasn't one of my favorites. I didn't like either character much.

Regan Black is an exceptional author. She weaves a story of suspense, intrigue, and mystery. This book is part of a series about the Riley family, a military family with an impeccable reputation.
Grace Ann Riley is in the crosshairs of a madman. Who is he? Will she be able to survive? Derek is a lawyer who meets Grace Ann through his brother who works with her. How will Derek react when he discovers some of Grace’s problems are directly impacting his brother?
Will Grace Ann and Derek be able to work together to solve the mysteries surrounding Grace Ann? What price will they pay? I definitely enjoyed this book! You won’t want to miss it!

Regan Black is 2 for 2 in her Riley Code mysteries! The first book, A Soldier's Honor, focused on army major Matt Riley. This second book tells Grace Ann Riley's story. US Army Major Grace Ann works as a registered nurse at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland. Her friend, Kevin Sayer, recently survived a helicopter crash while in a crisis rescue training exercise. Kevin is a captain in her unit as well as a registered nurse. He is also the younger brother of Derek Sayer, Grace Ann's no-strings attached/friend with benefits. Kevin had been in the helicopter because Grace Ann had been passed over due to security concerns. Someone from her father's past (General Benjamin Riley), is targeting the 5 Riley children in order to seek revenge and cause as much pain to her father as possible. The ongoing investigation to discover the person behind the attacks means the military continues to keep a close eye on their assignments. Grace Ann becomes the second focus of the revenge seeker. She is reported for misuse of Defense Department supplies and her security clearance is suspended. As other bad things start happening to her, she invites Derek to stay with her. They begin to navigate new territory in their relationship as they try to stay safe. I enjoy reading romantic suspense and Regan Black's ongoing series is full of action, twists and turns, and the opportunity to get to know the Riley family better. I highly recommend them!

Electrifying terror! With the second book in The Riley Code series, Regan Black once again delves into the mystery of who is coming after General Riley's adult kids. In HIS SOLDIER UNDER SIEGE, the spotlight is placed on his daughter and the plot is sinister.
Army nurse Grace Ann Riley is a really easy to connect with character. From the start she goes into her story in an easy going way, and even when it becomes clear that she has been the target for more than one attempt on her life, she keeps her cool and sets out to find answers.
Derek Sayer is temptation on a stick. He's smart, he's sexy and he's there the second he realizes Grace needs him. They might only admit to a friends with benefits relationship for the last couple of years, but each of them feels more than they are willing to admit to the other ... or themselves.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone liking a fast paced story line that has danger around every corner and yet revolves around an easy to like family who adores each other. I am really enjoying the Rileys!

Derek Sayer is temptation on a stick. He's smart, he's sexy and he's there the second he realizes Grace needs him. They might only admit to a friends with benefits relationship for the last couple of years, but each of them feels more than they are willing to admit to the other ... or themselves.
I highly recommend this book and the entire series to anyone liking a fast paced story line that has danger around every corner and yet revolves around an easy to like family who adores each other. I am really enjoying the Rileys!

The story is a good read, Army nurse and lawyer. The lead characters communicate well with each other. The romance is well told. The pace is swift, and the tension is high. The threat to first her life, and then, both their lives has a sufficiently alarming mystery enemy. The story setting is attractive until they go to her parents’ house.
This book is book number two of a five book series. I do not think that reading book one in advance of book two is necessary, but it would be very helpful. The main tie between the books in the series is the Riley Family and the villain. I have found that the members of the Riley Family are not the nicest of people and I struggle with that.

Another of The Riley Code series in which different members of the Riley clan is at risk. An Outstanding Suspense .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of His Soldier Under Siege . This is a fantastic suspense romance . Army nurse Grace Ann Riley is targeted by a man seeking revenge towards her father . Attorney Derek Sayer is Grace Ann's friend with benefits but they both have developed feelings for each other .
When danger escalates and Grace Ann is attacked Derek steps in to help keep her safe and protect her with his life .
This is a well written and action packed . A very intriguing and intense story . I highly recommend taking the time to read this story and enjoy as much as I did .

I loved reading this story of suspense, danger, and romance. Throughout the book, the characters emotions and beliefs are streatched to new limits. As she strives to make sense of the unrelenting attempts on her life, Grace Ann must learn to live with the past that haunts her and accept help before the madman succeeds. Others around her are being hurt when she is the real target and her family is also at risk. Can she hold it together? This story kept me reading throughout the night. Loved it.

Grace and Derek were great together especially as she kept trying to distance herself from him with everything going on and him deciding enough of their no strings attached he wants all in. There is plenty of mystery in regards to who is behind the attacks as well as close calls for Grace, some great cooking, attraction that can't be denied as well as issues with trust. Your kept on your toes as to whether they will figure out who is behind it all as well as if Grace will finally see that her and Derek totally belong together!

Army RN Grace Riley has a unknown threat against her family [The Riley Hunter] to make her father pay by using his family. After her last deployment which didn't go well she is sent home where she has best friend almost die when it should have been her on the chopper. Enter Derek her friends with benefits. He's bound to help her. someone wants to harm her but who? This book is full of suspense, with lots of twists and turns and drama with some romance. Can't wait to read more about the Riley's you won't be disappointed.

Grace Ann Riley - the daughter of General Ben Riley - has become the target of an unknown, hate filled person with incredible resources. She tries to protect Her ‘friend with benefits’, Derek, but he won’t be left on the sidelines! Great story line; wonderful characters, strong family ties, lots of drama, some surprises, and a mystery unfolding!!
I was given this book for my honest opinion & am happy to give it a 5 star rating! Can’t wait for the next book in the series!!

I absolutely loved this second book in this series. There are twists and turns you do not see coming. There is a lot of warmth, heart, family and suspense all rolled into one book. Can not wait for the next one.

I love reading this story! It has suspense, drama, mystery, twists and romance. Grace and Derek are friends with benefits but when Derek goes to visit Grace things start to happen to her and he gets drawn into it. I love the story line and didn't want to put it down till I finished reading it! I recommend this book!!!!!
