The High School graduating class of 1988 has returned to Pelican Cove for their 30th reunion. Jenny's husband, Jason, introduces her to another member of the graduating class, David Cotton. David was pretty much a loner in school and Jason was just about his only friend. After high school, David had launched a very successful business.
One of the activities of the reunion was opening a time capsule the class had created years earlier. After getting something to eat with Jason and Jenny, David heads out to retrieve the time capsule. Jenny was outside getting some fresh air, when she heard a loud noise. Looking a little closer, Jenny realized that somebody had shot David Cotton.
Who killed David Cotton? Why was he killed? Where is the time capsule? Is David's death related to the contents of the time capsule? If so, how? Can Jenny solve the mysteries of David's death and the time capsule?
Leena Clover has managed to combine multiple mystery themes into a single well-written book. The rivalries and characteristics found in this story are very reminiscent of people I have met throughout my life. I especially like how Jenny manages to keep each person's attitudes from affecting her search for the truth. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing clear to the end.
A thirty-year high school reunion is the setting for murder in this intriguing whodunit. These former classmates have so many secrets that could be motive for murder that it is a wonder the murderer is ever revealed.
In my opinion, this book is the best story of the ‘Pelican Cove Cozy Mystery Series’. I love how Jenny and Jason are secure and happy in their marriage. The honor and respect they show to each other in the many areas of their lives is inspiring. The Police Department allowing Jenny’s input on the case is a refreshing twist and will hopefully be a blueprint for the future. The caring nature of the Pelican Cove residents is wonderful. The friendship of the Magnolia women is what most friends desire for their own. The dishes that Jenny creates sound delicious! I only wish recipes would be added to the books.
This is a well-written, entertaining, and clean story that can be read in one evening.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author. This gift did not affect my review of the book. This review is my voluntary and honest opinion.
When the class of 1988 has a reunion. Jenny is front and center for a murder of one class member at their reunion because her own husband was a member of this class. When the victim was a friend, husband Jason encourages Jenny even more to figure out who is guilty. While the class members are forced to stay in town, and they become regulars at her restaurant, Jenny does what she does best...cook and ask questions.
So many elements of this book make it one of the best in the series. Never has a murder been quite so personal. Never has Jenny been sanctioned to help the police to this extent before. Never has Jenny cooked so many delicious sounding meals! Never have there been quite so many twists and turns in a book in this series. Never have I enjoyed Pelican Cove more than in this book! This is a great addition to the series and recommended for mystery lovers of any age.
Jason's class of 1988 is holding their 30 yr class reunion in Pelican Cove. There are plans for opening a time capsule that they put together in their senior year. Before that can happen the man in charge of it is killed and the capsule disappears. What is in that capsule? Nobody can leave town until the police have made an arrest. They have all heard that Jenny is good at investigating and they want her to take on the case. Everybody in the class has become regulars in her restaurant, Jenny can overhear what everyone is talking about and this may help her. There are a number of possible suspects. Every time Jenny thinks she has it figured out there is a twist and she is back to square one. The police aren't doing any better.
This is the best story in this series so far. I never suspected the guilty party. Leena has created an interesting and entertaining story with twists and turns that will keep you guessing. You are hooked and reeled in from page one to the end. Grab a copy and come along on this ride. You'll be glad you did.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
A class reunion, murder and Jenny King to the rescue makes this book not only a page turner but the best book of the Pelican Cove series.
Since the victim is a friend of Jason's, (Jenny's husband), he encourages her to find out who the killer is. Her restaurant is the perfect place for her to question the many suspects.
Just when you think you know who the killer is, the book adds a twist. And of course, the book has the Magnolia girls busier than ever in their own good deed.
Leena Clover's books continue to engage the reader. Her detailed writing makes it seem like you are actually in the book sitting next to the characters.
The sort of school reunion I wouldn’t want to have been part of! So many secrets were buried in the time capsule. Some wanted it opened, others didn’t. Motives for murder were plentiful. I got this book as an ARC &, as usual with this series, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
When a man is killed at a class reunion there are suspects galore. Great writing, a wonderfully twisty plot and entertaining characters make this a fun read. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Jenny King's husband Jason is having their class reunion at Pelican Cove. The class of 1988. David cotton is there though according to his wife, Grace, David is only there out of duty. He was always picked on in school, the nerd, but Jason was his only real friend. David was also chosen to be in charge of the time capsule the class did. He left to go get it and was found dead in the parking lot. Why would anyone want to kill him? Where is the time capsule he was getting? Does one have something to do with the other? A great story with some surprises along the way. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Once again a cozy read worth missing a few winks of sleep over. Who would think that a 30 year high school reunion would turn into a murder mystery involving Jason, and by default Jenny. I really love this family and enjoy those moments that are so relatable between mothers and daughters. And the food! Oh my word. Those descriptions have my tummy grumbling. Well done Ms Clover. Another entertaining read which leaves me anticipating the next.
Jenny King, owner of the Boardwalk Cafe is overwhelmed by the class of 1988's reunion in Pelican Cove. When the class valedictorian is shot and killed everyone wants to go home. It soon becomes clear that someone wants to find the time capsule that was placed in Mr. Jones stuffed blue parrot. The secrets in the capsule are important to some. I cannot wait for the next book. This is a well written story. The characters are well developed.
Jenny and Jason are hosting a class reunion from 30 years ago and there are lots of secrets and dirty linen that some don't want aired and will stoop at anything to ensure secrets stay safe. A couple of murders with one being the top suspect makes Jenny's job of solving this mystery much harder. Full of twists and turns, this book will have you on the edge of your seat. Very entertaining

I enjoyed reading more about Pelican Cove and the familiar characters. Having a reunion there had the advantage of introducing some new, and interesting characters. I enjoyed the perplexing mystery with lots of twists and turns that kept up the suspense. A good read for the cosy mysteries fan.
Leena Clover can really tell a story! This was amazing! The storyline was terrific. I read it in one sitting! I was afraid I would forget something to be able to solve the crime! The characters were easy to follow. It was a up and down and in and out story! It was almost the end before I figured out the murderer. This is a must read!❤️
Leena Clover has created another fascinating mystery. Incredible character development shows new depth in the relationships of her regulars. This story will keep you guessing and second guessing while you enjoy the romantic story of Jenny's life at Pelican Cove.
Jenny's husband, Jason and his classmates are having their 30 year class reunion. One the night of their banquet, David Cotton, is shot and killed. The time capsule that David has kept hidden for 30 years has disappeared. Who shot David and who has the time capsule now. What is the murderer hiding in the time capsule?
This was more like the older stories. Only I was a bit confused as Star's beau seems to have disappeared, unless I missed something and also at one point it was mentioned the cafe had never been closed in 30 years, therefore who looked after it when they were on the cruise. Anyway, I enjoyed it and have downloaded #12.
Jason’s class reunion should have been a fun time catching up with old friends. Instead, secrets lead to murder. Jenny is asked to help figure things out. Well written cozy mystery with lots of twists and turns. I look forward to more in this series.
5/23. Jason's 30 year high school reunion is fast approaching, and most of the class of 1988 is coming to celebrate. Is a missing stuffed parrot actually the class time box? Why are people dying? Will one lady get enough donations from the attendees at the charity dinner to get the life-saving treatment her son needs? Interesting twists.
Book 11 in the Pelican Cove mystery series with Jenny and the Magnolias.
I really enjoy reading these books, they're easy to read in a couple of hours so ideal for an afternoon or early night, also the books are not gory even though they often include a body, or 2, so won't give you nightmares.
If you like small town cozy mysteries with great characters then give this series a try. I found their best read in order so the characters stories continuity are preserved.
It's Jason's 30th class reunion. One of his classmates is killed and Jenny has been asked to find out how and why. A stuffed parrot used as a time capsule, a bully classmate, an art thief and other colorful characters make for an interesting quick read.
I really loved this book. The main characters feel like old friends to me. I can't wait to see what is next for all of them! I strongly recommend this book.
Never expected who actual murderer was! Great murder mystery!! I am suspicious of Billy getting so cozy around Jenny though… what is to come of that? I hope it does not interfere with Jason!
