LORDS OF NIGHT STREET COLLECTION

Born into wealth and privilege, the Lords of Night Street have vowed to serve those most in need. They navigate the glittering ballrooms of society and London's criminal underworld with equal ease, leading the fight for love and justice.

LORD GALLANT
Nicholas, Earl of Attwood wanted a docile wife, instead, he ends up with the scholarly Grace Esseltte. A dowdy spinster with a tart mouth and dangerous secrets. But he soon realizes there is a great deal more to her, and with that knowledge comes something else… the heart he’d thought would never love, has learned to do exactly that.

She vowed to never marry, but her clumsiness is finally her downfall. Compromised, there is little for Grace to do but wed the stern Earl, but she refuses to yield to him in any way. However, soon she understands the man behind the gruff facade and concedes his tender gestures and honorable ways are in danger of stealing her heart.

LORD VALIANT
When Miss Charlotte Radley arrives on his doorstep, claiming she needs help from the Lords of Night Street, Viscount Needly is intrigued. She lives in one of the most notorious parts of London and runs a halfway house for ladies of the night, yet her speech and manner tell him she is a lady. Determined to uncover the truth about his mysterious new client, Marcus’s investigations find that not only is Charlotte more than she seems—she’s also in grave danger. He knows that it’s no longer just her safety involved—his own survival would be in question if he lost the one woman who had given his life meaning.

Charlotte has no time to listen to the arrogant Viscount. She has chosen the path she wishes to tread, and if that includes the occasional dangerous foray into the more seedy areas of London then so be it. She will do what must be done to care and protect her girls. But when someone tries to stop her it is to Lord Needly she must turn to for help, and in doing so she risks what she’d always believed was safe… her heart.

LORD VALOROUS
Viscount Hatherton has met no one like Miss Poppy March. Exquisite, headstrong, and reckless. The more time he spends with her, the more he understands that she is what is missing in his life. She’s warmed the cold places in his heart and brought him into the light. Can he keep her safe and convince her of his love when she is determined to keep them apart?

Poppy is on a dangerous quest to expose the fiend she believes is poisoning her employer. She enlists his help of the disturbing Viscount but soon realizes that he is as malleable as an Oak Tree. He does not follow instruction well and insists that instead, she follow his! She vows to keep him at arm’s length, but her traitorous heart has other ideas.

LORD NOBLE
Finding himself in a sudden betrothal with the woman who makes him feel like he’s rolling in stinging nettle is proving to be a challenge for the notorious Marquis of Vereton. He and the exquisite Miss Elizabeth Witlow had always disliked each other, or so Leo believed. So when he makes his audacious proposal, no-one’s more shocked than Leo that Beth agrees.

The first two books are very short novellas, so can't expect much from them. I rate each of them with a 2 star. They are too quick for any show of real development of feelings and we don't get an epilogue. I also felt I didn't get closure with their endings (ex: book one, we don't know what happened to the letters; book two, we don't know what happened with the bad guys in the gaming house, or where he put the girls they rescued.)
Book 3 was longer, and you had more of their feelings developing for one another. Still the ending was too quick - I needed more closure.
Book 4 was the best one of all, with enemies to lovers trope, great banter and you could see their feelings changing. Too quick of an ending, we don't get enough closure with the bad guy.

All in all, the stories all lacked, I feel the reader could have been given more, especially at the end of each story, we could have had more with the MC's together and better closure with the cases and bad guys.

Excellent if variable series

Book 4 is the real gem, a 5 star book. I also liked book 1 very much. The other 2 are ok

This series is WAY too sexually graphic for my tastes. Did not finish.

I can’t understand all the great reviews

Is not that the stories weren’t decent but they were all the same. Girl in trouble! Girl ask for help from the Lords of Night street, girl and boy consummate their relationship in a carriage, girl and boy argue towards the end and then make up all while only just falling in love within a few short days or two weeks of their acquaintance. Book needs editing.

This is an OK set of novellas, but I didn't like the heroes all that much. Some were better than others, but they all bothered me -- they were too controlling and demanding, and seemed to think it was fine to want women as mistresses and not for marriage. I get that this behavior was common in the time period of these novellas, but it bothered me that the author didn't at least have the heroes realize they needed to change. It also bothered me that the so-called strong heroines let the men get away with that, and fell in love with them anyway. I did like that the heroes worked to help people, and didn't charge for their services. Overall, the set of novellas gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3 stars.

Lord Gallant, 1.5 stars: This one was my least favorite, because Nick's treatment of Grace was just awful. He rapes her the first time they have sex. He was not violent, but she said no repeatedly, and he didn't stop, so it was rape. I get that it was fairly common for men to rape their wives in that time period, but he never seems to understand that he raped her -- he is just ashamed that he didn't make sure she enjoyed it. Good grief! Women do NOT enjoy being raped! Then, when Grace falls in love with him almost immediately -- even after he raped her -- that was just too much for me. Women do NOT fall in love with men who rape them, not without a genuine apology and change from the man first.

Lord Valiant, Lord Valorous, and Lord Noble, each get 3 stars: These were better than the first one, but the heroes were still too controlling. They kept insisting that the heroines follow their orders, even though they weren't yet involved. Also, all of the heroes had a really hard time admitting they were in love, and kept thinking they only wanted sex. Then, when they did get involved with the heroines, they made the women think they only wanted them as mistresses. Since all of the heroines were strong and capable, I honestly didn't see why they fell in love with men who would treat them so poorly.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Each book deserves its review

Book 1 - 2stars
Its not that the premise wasn’t good or that the story was bad, but after the rape scene I cannot give it more stars, even 2 is generous. I know that was a “common thing” to happen in the period but her acting like it did not happen and him saying that he loved her???? I just cannot believe I finished it or that other reviews didn’t mentioned it, believe me I checked.

Book 2 - 4 stars

Marcus was an interesting character, and another knight in shining armour. The story is short but as with the others you can see he is taken quickly with Charlotte. She is struggling and she has her pride, but she takes the help that it is offered to her. I liked her and enjoyed the story overall

Book 3 - 3 stars

This one dragged sooo much I actually consideres to dnf at some point. It was too much of the same and it got repetitive, plus the “we are not from the same word” thing was already exploited in book 2, as was the brothel theme. Jacob is a nice guy and very likeable throughout the series so it was great to see him fall in love, and being so reluctant to do it. Poppy and ger pride were too tiresome, as was her forming opinions about someone that, as he pints out, has only been trying to help her. I would understand it if she had a bad encounter with a nobleman in the past, but she did not so it was hard to see were this came from (unlike book 2).

Book 4- 4 stars

I really enjoyed this one so I’m glad I stayed till the end. Leo is amazingly sweet and Beth story although painful was refreshing (given the theme of it book 1 surprises me even more). Loved how they fell in love, their character and story was the most believable of all.

Very uneven and full of continuity errors

This "collection" is really the same story written four times with different characters. Read one and you have read them all. Each features a woman who, for various reasons, find herself in danger and the hero, a nobleman who is one of four in a group who are altruistic private investigators, reluctantly falls in love with her and saves her. The sex scenes are repetitive and predictable. The stories' only saving grace are the funny and sometimes witty dialogues.
What really disturbed me was the continuity errors. For example, in the last story, Beth's father at first dies because of being shot by a poacher. Toward the end of the book we're told he fell on his gun. Another discontinuity; Beth and Leo enter a fake betrothal to save Leo from a woman who now wants him after spurning him. They agree to end the betrothal in a few weeks and it will be Beth who ends it. As things heat up between the two, Beth repeatedly demands that Leo end it, which would damage Beth's reputation.
In the big scene toward the end when Beth is captured by the villain, he puts a bag over her head. But, when Leo comes to save her, she suddenly can see and is able to push over the villain so that Leo can take away his gun.
If you like predictability and books that are clearly written to meet some production goals, this collection might work for you. It didn't for me.

Lords of Night Street Collection:
Books 1 - 4
Lords of Night Street #1-4
by Wendy Vella

It’s been a minute since I picked up a Wendy Vella Regency Romance, so finding the Lords of Night Street Collection gave me four books to read while I was on a cruise.

I’m not going to do each book but more talk about what you will get.

Book one and two are novella’s short and sweet. As one gets with many Regency Romances, often the FMC in the book has returned from the War on the Continent! This is the truth for all the Lords in this series….in fact they had known each other since childhood as well at fighting Napolean and they are back with a wish to give back to the people of England, they were good at spying and fiding out who was doing what to whom and they have already had sucess …so why not continue!

All of these men are also Lords of the Realm and it is expected that at some point they would marry and have heirs. Although no one comes back to a fiancé, each story will bring a woman into each of their lives, the difference being these women were not from rich families and each lady was in need of help not just for themselves but help for someone they cared for.

The last two are full stories and in the end the collection in my opinion is a great way to one, have a lovely visit with this author and two, gives you four stories that take you back to the Regency Period.

#1 Lord Gallant

He thought she had purposely trapped him, into marriage, and would not hear her, nor her cousin's pleas to allow her to leave London, to avoid marrying him. It was absurd, they were taking the farce too far!
Until...

You need to read this dynamic and dramatic tale.

#2 Lord Valiant

She came looking for help, as someone was kidnapping prostitutes, and the constablary would not assist.
In the following days, the investigation took a turn....

#3 Lord Valorous

She has been dismissed, as a companion, for a elderly widow, whom she suspects is being poisoned by the person who would inherit the widow's fortune, on her death.
The Lords of Night Street take up the case, but Jacob especially is captivated by the young Miss P. March.
Another dramatic and thrilling story.

#4 Lord Noble

We meet the two main characters in previous episodes, snipping at each other when they've been in the same room.
However, an enemy to both, causes a friendship of a united front.
However, there is a more sinister situation, that causes more tension to those dear to the lords of Night Street.

The Lords of Night are doing good for the community and finding love along the way. These stories were all wonderful and had charming heroes and heroines. Although they are all stand alone books, you will want to read them in order so that you have a good background when you read the second, third and fourth book. These four Lords were long time friends and in the military together serving their country. When they get out they decide to form an investigative office that helps those that are being blackmailed, have been kidnapped and various other nefarious deeds done by the nasty villains. While helping out four women, these men find their unexpected true loves. They all have love/hate relationships along the way to their HEA, but they discover that what you were least expecting can lead to the best ending possible. The men are all hunky, of course, and although there is a little steam in each story, it is nothing that the faint of heart will find to be too much. Definitely recommend this series of short stories and easy reads.

Quick, fun reads

These were novellas, so things tended to happen quickly. My favorite characters were Nick and Grace from the first story. She trips, falls on him, they are seen in a "compromising" position and they must marry. Nick thinks he was tricked and doesn't believe that Grace wasn't trying to get him. Then we have Charlotte and Marcus. Charlotte helps girls who are trying to leave pros to tuition. When girls end up missing she turns to o Marcus as part of the Lords of Night Street. Then, there is Jacob and Poppy. She is worried about a woman she had been a companion to, whose nephew is poisoning her. Lastly, are Leo and Beth. They've known each other, and fought often. They become " betrothed" and Leo begins to suspect Beth is in trouble. She finally confides in him and he and the other Lords of Night Street help her.

Four Lords Find Forever Love

As a four book set, Lords of Night Street by Wendy Vella is an entertaining reading experience. Each book is well written with interesting characters and a tight plot. The four featured lords are all secretly the Night Street investigators and each is destined to find their forever loves, even if they are a bit reluctant. Books one and four are my favorite, but the other two are okay. My only real negative comment has to do with the endings of each book. Although happy, each ending just left me a bit dissatisfied. None had an epilogue, which would have definitely moved each read up a star.

Content 411: In addition to secular and religious swearing, each book has passionate kissing and descriptive sexual intimacy.

Four good stories

The story lines are good, with well written characters, the books flow easily and are fun, but has many flaws. As good as the novellas are, for me the stories were not complete. In the first story the bad guys were caught, but why does a Russian need someone to translate Russian letters and why give them to someone to translate them steal them from said person. The second story the girl was saved, but we're the bad people brought to justice of just left to continue, it is unclear. Story three again was there lawful justice of just a few facers for the culprit. Story four, why did the bad guy say her father had blood on his hands, and that she had ruined his.life? I like answers that complete the story.

Loved these stories!

I loved all 4 of the stories in this collection that is well written with different plot/storyline for each. All of their stories has sweet to wonderful HEA's but not complete especially the last on Noble could use an epilogue.

Nick/Gallent and Grace
He thought she tricked him into marriage even though she wanted out of it.

Marcus/valent and Charlotte- she owned a halfway house for women of the night.
Jacob/Valorous and Poppy- she hired LONS to help with her ex employer who is in trouble.
Leo/Noble and Elizabeth/Beth - she is Nick's cousin and has a secret from her past which came into light on the announcement of he faux engagement to Leo

Wicked Lords

Four totally different books. The first book is Lord Nickolas and Grace, a Lord and well bred lady. They finally have their happy ever after, but was stressful! Second Lord Marcus and Charlotte, she rescues prostitutions! Took some time for their happy ever after. Third Lord Jacob and Poppy. She is a Lady’s companion, fired and after solving that they have their happy ever after! Last Lord Leo and Lady Elizabeth ( Lord Nicolas’s cousin) solve her being blackmailed before their happy ever after. All four great books.

DNF after the 1st book
I wanted to like it because... It's 4 books and they were free on Amazon! But it's kind of a trainwreck. H/h both absurd, she is plain if not downright ugly, but low and behold, she's actually stunning, at least naked! Change of dress and hairdo and voilà she becomes a beauty. He hates her because he thinks she's a conniving wretch but after he ogles her naked in the bathtub he decides she as innocent as a lamb and falls immediately in lust and the next day in love. Not to mention the ridiculous kidnapping, actually 2 kidnappings! Free is not always a good thing!

Ugh.

The first book has a very graphic rape scene near the start. Someone needs to teach the author that if someone says no several times, even if the body responds, it's still rape.

I didn't make it much past that as the male lead was all hard for her after thinking her a list and completely ignoring all get wishes.

I'm sure there are those that think this is romantic, like Twilight, or Gone With the Wind, and more power to them, but I'd have appreciated a giant trigger warning.

 Oh My Lord!🐺🍆⛲🔪🔫

What a great collection📚 of ADULT Regency Era Romance and Adventure 🔪 novels. Each is a full length, previously published book.

The heroes have a flaw or two, but when the going gets tough🔪🔫👊💪, they are on top of the problem! The women💃💋 they 💘love are not typical aristocracy, maybe not even aristocracy at all!

This is an absorbing collection that will give many hours of satisfying 📚reading.

Love, love...LOVE this author’s work!

The first book I read from this author was two nights ago. I have insomnia and so downloaded a regency romance.
Two days later and I’ve binge read the Lords of Night Street collection as well as all her other regency work.

Fantastic storylines with just the right dash of romance/sex scenes that were not over the top.

This author has a new fan! More regency please!

I’d rather be reading

I love Wendy’s books. I saw her name and downloaded the books without noticing they were Novellas. That is why they only got four stars. These books could have easily had more to them for a full novel because, as always her characters are fantastic and the storylines were different enough to hold your attention. I would have definitely enjoyed them more were they longer.

I thought the first and last books in this collection were the best; the middle two were a lot alike. I liked the hero Leo in the last book the best although from what the other books said about him, I thought I would like him least. All of the heroes went into marriage with cold feet, but the heroines soon warmed them up.

Sweet Love Stories

The books were somewhat the same with different circumstances. They are light and left this reader with a smile - feel good books! I have read several books written by this author, The Sinclair and Raven series. All of her stories are well defined and the characters come alive. I like this author!

dnf…stories start out promising..but the chemistry between our main protagonists just aren’t there and the way the story unravels is all over the place. Also, Nick literally only started being nicer to Grace after seeing her naked. lmao. Men. He only started thinking she might not be so bad after sleeping with her..dubious consent btw

None of the other characters interested me that much.

These were enjoyable but not the best Wendy Vella books I’ve read. For a group of noblemen who are trying to remain incognito, messages with their aliases are delivered to their homes, they make no attempt to disguise their appearance when conducting their investigations and even use their real names.

I enjoyed all four novellas in this series and the characters had some depth (especially for a novella length) and stories were well-written with action, romance, and mystery surrounding the heroes and their future loves. I highly recommend the fun, entertaining books with a little spice for a relaxing short read.

Wendy Vella is always great, and she delivers again with this fun, fast-paced box set of four romance tales. My favorite was the last, an "enemies-to-lovers" that kicks off when a jilted gent confronts the callous woman who broke his heart and impulsively claims the woman at his side is his "fiance" -- much to her surprise. A four-novella treat!

Lords Of Night Street Collection

I have read books by this author before, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. I got this set as a freebie and I thoroughly enjoyed them who can resist four charming. Noble Lords who help people in distress while falling in love at the same time, but I think it would’ve been nice to have had an epilogue.

Loved the premise of an entire male investigative group whose function is to bring justice to all.

Th stories are unique to each investigator and the partner they choose for their forever love. Their fight for justice in regard to the people who use their service is unique, and free. The ladies they each choose is strong and willing to fight her own battles.

quick action reads

I really like Wendy Vella’s writing. She has action packed stories with strong intelligent women and heroic males. The banter is spicy and fun to read. These stories are short and end right after the climax of the story. I could have used a little more closure but enjoyed the read.
