Over twenty million pages read in the Aurelian Empire!
Action and steam. Exactly what an alien romance should be!

The heroine:Tasha - she is the captain of a small spaceship. She and her crew take on some legal and some not so legal jobs. Most recently they pulled off a heist of 26 Aurelian orbs. One orb can power a large spaceship and they are some of the most valuable things in the Galaxy. They are now on the run from an alien Toad species who knows of their heist and is trying to destroy them for the nearly indestructible orbs.
The Hero:Aelon - He is the captain of an Aurelian warship. They are independent contractors but follow Aurelian laws. Aurelians are seven feet tall, with white-marble skin, huge muscles, they weigh over 500 pounds, and they are dangerous. They know Tasha’s ship has the stolen orbs and they are determined to recover them. He has two other members of his triad aboard the ship, they are Vinicus and Iunia, both are as big as mountains and are fierce warriors against the Scorps and Toads who are their main foes.
The Story: Aelon’s warship is able to capture Tasha’s smaller ship and he knows immediately that Tasha might be the fated mate of his triad. He decides not to turn her and her crew into the Aurelian empire where they might get 40 years in prison. Instead, he wants to determine if she is their fated mate.
Since Aurelians are all born male, the only way they are created is as clones when one of them dies of natural causes. Though they live for thousands of years, and for every Aurelian that dies in battle, that is one less Aurelian that can be born. This is causing their numbers to dwindle and would have eventually been the cause of the extinction of their race. Though when it was found human women could be a fated mate to a triad and bear children, all Aurelians desired to find their mate.
The story is a decent one and the intimate scenes are steamy hot, not only due to the fact that the heroine is with a triad of alien men. It is also due to the fact that they are such huge men and all their proportions align, if you get my drift. They also like to spank their women. Though when they go against the empire by not turning Tasha and her crew in, some of the Aurelian crew decide that they have gone rogue and rogue Aurelians tend to use force when trying to find their fated mates. This causes strife within Aelon’s crew, especially when he has to punish some of them men for trying that. He still wants to have morals and honor even though they might not follow every Aurelian law.
There is a side storyline about the rest of Tasha’s crew and also about the Toad warriors who were first chasing Tasha’s ship when Aelon caught her and pulled her ship into his warship with a tractor beam. Aelon has a thing for killing the creepy Toads, so that is certainly an interesting storyline as well. Suffice it to say there is plenty of action interspersed with the steamy scenes to hold one’s interest in this book.
This was a good story with plenty of action. Big win against the enemies. This wasn't just a constant bedroom scene book. I gave it a downgrade because there was just too much mental rumination... an extreme amount, and it's one thing I have very little tolerance for. It makes me think there just isn't enough storyline, so the author just fills it up with angst and repetition to reach a certain page count. The other reason for downgrading is I don't like the spankings-for-disobedience trope, but it's just something I have to put up with and skim over in a Corin Cain book, lol.
Aside from that, the story has space battles and creepy enemy Toads. The Aurelian Triad in this book is different than the ones in previous books and there is little alone time with each one to really know them as individuals. We just rush from one crisis to the next and the h doesn't even eat meals or sleep. The whole story takes place within a span of a couple of days.
Recommended. This is one of the best stories since the earlier Aurelian books.
This is the second story in the Captive Mates series and it could be read as a stand-alone story but I would recommend that you read the previous series Rouge Aurelians, so you can understand a bit of what the alien race of Aurelians are like.
In the Aurelians series, the Aurelians are the protectors of many planets, Earth just being one of them, from other races that conquer and destroy. One of the way they are repaid for protection is in women. Their race is strictly males and they cannot reproduce except by cloning just before death unless they find their One. They are also always in a triad. They will do anything for their One. They are a very long living species, like thousands of years unless killed. They must first put in 100 years in the military and when they get out they will be rewarded with riches. They then collect women to try to find their One in harems. When many planets wanted their freedom from the protection so they can run their planet on their own, they are given the freedom.
Tasha inherited her spaceship and crew from her father. She doesn't like to brag on who her father is because he is wanted by the Aurelians for being a pirate in the past. Her and her brother run the ship, sometimes running legal items, sometimes not so legal. When her beloved brother, who likes to take more risks than he should, chooses what run they will do next, he ends up being kidnapped. What they stole is worth more than a kings ransom. While trying to find her brother, they barely escape from the Toads chasing them, right into some Aurelians. If they find out who her father is, she will either be killed, used for bait to get her father, or possibly just imprisoned. She doesn't know if these Aurelians are law abiding or if they are rogues. She also doesn't want to become part of their harem to be forgotten if she isn't their One.
Captain Aelon doesn't know what to do with this spunky Earth woman who is captain of this motley crew. When one of the men is to be punished, she takes his punishment and the others are disrespectful of her as she takes the punishment for them all. He commutes her punishment from 100 lashes to 100 spankings, so that she has a possibility to survive. He, Vinicus and Iunia, his triad, are all attracted to her and think she may be their Mate, but they are also afraid to try and find she isn't.

DNF. Sorry, I don’t like to leave negative reviews but… The heroine in this story was so bad I absolutely couldn’t stand to read through the entire book. If she’s an assertive captain of a space ship, why does she let the one crewman sneer and laugh at her? As far as I could tell, the hero had no character at all, smug and confident one minute and cold and cruel the next. I understand spanking and all that but to punish her that way publicly so as to humiliate her? This just isn’t my type of book. According to the other reviews, I’m evidently alone in this. This is my first book by this author and I probably won’t read any more of them.

This is the 3rd book in the series but it can be read as a stand-alone. This sci-fi read has plenty of drama and suspense. Tasha is the captain of a spaceship when it is captured by Aurelians. Will she be able to save her crew? Fast-paced with loads of drama, suspense and steam. A good read.
Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.
This is the second story in this set (these are published in 3s, just like the triad in the story), but all are stand-alone reads, but I highly recommend reading them in order for maximum reader satisfaction and to prevent spoilers.
At the center of each of these stories are Aurelian warriors, bonded together in a triad. They are dominant alpha males that crave submission from females. Aurelians can only have children with their fated mate, so each warrior will do anything to find her after they have served their 100 years of service protecting other planets.
Some do it by building large harems hoping that one of them will be their fated mate, while others may look but understand that it is so rare that they will never really have a chance at locating theirs.
This story is about Tasha, a human captain that mines orbs and other minerals with a small crew of 6. She has had her own ship for a few years and is a great pilot, getting her crew away from danger multiple times. Tasha is also a thief when times call for it. Her and her crew just stole 26 orbs, which is worth enough to set them up for life.
Unfortunately it also put them on every other thieves’ radar and they are being chased by 3 ships of Toads. They are vile, disgusting opportunistic creatures. If caught, losing their payload will be the least of their worries. Then when Tasha manages to push her ship and avoid them, she flings them right into the path of an Aurelian warship ...
What if it they are Rogues, not holding to the laws and governance of the Aurelian Empire? Too late now, as they are being pulled into the ship via their tractor beam ...
I don’t want to accidentally provide any spoilers, so I am going to stop here. There are some grammatical errors (inserted duplicated words, is vs if, etc.), but I was able to easily interpret the author’s intent.
The series based on the Aurelian empire are like a guilty pleasure for me. They engage my attention early in the story. Maybe I like to think that there are aliens out there protecting innocent worlds. 😊
I liked this book a lot better then the first one. It had a relatable heroine. I actually really loved reading Tasha. She was somebody I could relate to and understand where she was coming from. Her actions made sense, and the biggest thing to me and that she also learned along the way. The things that Aelon was trying to teach her might have been painful, but she did learn the lesson that he was trying to get across to her. Not saying that I agreed with how he did it, but it was effective.
While I did have some problems with this triad at first, I did end up loving Aelon, Vinicus, Iunia. They complemented each other wonderfully. I think my biggest problem with this triad was just seeing them thru Tasha's viewpoint from the beginning. We didn't get to see their real characters until later in the book so all we had to go off of was her viewpoint and opinions. Since she didn't have a complete picture of her triads character her opinions were skewered to fit her narrative. I didn't like that at all. I wish there had been more POV from the triad so that we could have had a clearer picture of them before the ending. The other thing that I didn't like was the way Tasha was trying to make the triad choose her over everything, even their own honor. I didn't like that at all. She wasn't willing to leave her own crew behind to face possible death.. but she wanted her triad to do that to 100's of innocent people and the planet below them. I thought that was pretty low of her. That is only one of the reasons this was not a 5 star read for me.
The other thing is still the amount of repetitive dialogue in this book. It keep going over the same information again, and again. Chapter after chapter of the same stuff. It's all filler to make for a longer page count. I would much rather have a smaller page count book. Without all the same information being repeated, ad nauseum then to have a longer page count book with it. Authors need to stop thinking we are stupid and going to forget the information they just relayed in the previous chapter. I can see in a series repeating some of it since some people don't always start with the first book in a series. But it doesn't need to be repeated every chapter or even every other chapter.
So at 33%, this book is a no for me. I don't want to yuck anyone's yum, but I didn't like the public spanking(in the right context, maybe, but this was definitely not it). This book seems to like to contradict it ideals. This alien race is supposed to be super possessive and protective of women they view as theirs, but the ML's publicly expose and humiliate the FL, whom they supposedly respect and who possibly could be their fated mate. It would be one thing if it was more private, but the vibes are just off. It gave me the ick. I don't really understand why she's so protective of her crew either. Her second in command is the only likable one. They don't seem to care about her at all and honestly deserve some punishment. Her inner voice ping ponging back and forth between thinking they should deal with their own fate and acting like a martyr having to rescue them was very annoying. Another review had posted a comment that made sense, too. When these men take women into their harem, aren't they limiting the chance of other members of their race finding their true mate? The whole you have to consummate the relationship to see if a person is your true mate or not is kinda off putting too. back to the whole "kinky" aspect of this book, It's one thing to enjoy a humiliation kink in the bedroom, or even with consent in an open situation, but in this case, she doesn't really have a choice in this it doesn't feel like. Word it however you like she's in a life or death situation and in captivity. Now I like some questionable content. Sometimes, mind you, and even I have an issue with this one.The whole context of the situation is off, so I think I feel resentful cause it's so poorly done.
Tasha is the captain of her spaceship, she has stolen orbs onboard and she has toads on her tail. She needs to get away from them, she succeeds in escaping the toads, but is then captured by the Aurelians who enslave females and use then as slaves in their harems. Tasha and her first mate are the only females on her six crew members, the last thing she wants to be is a prisoner in a harem. They are all ordered off the ship once they are pulled into the Aurelians spaceship. Tasha is taken to the captains cabin and tries to negotiate their release, but the men try to escape and injure one of the Aurelians so the captain orders twenty lashes for all of the men involved, Tasha as the captain of her crew wants to be punished instead of her men. But Captain Aelon won’t do that but says he will punish her with one hundred spankings instead. The captain suspects that Tasha is his triads fated mated, but the only way to know is through making love with her. They were constantly fighting and Tasha and her crew were always seeking a way to escape. Tasha and her Triad of Aelon, Vinicus and Iunia were indeed fated mates and fought against the Toads and wins this battle. Tasha accepts her bond and the men are happy. The story ends in a way that Corin Cane can write another story which can include the story of Tasha’s first mate Sawoot’s journey.

I read the first book, was thoroughly annoyed by it but still liked the premise, so waited several months then came back to try book 2.
Sadly, I’m going to have to admit defeat and end the series here.
My main issue with these books can be summarized into 2 main points: 1) I don’t particularly like the FMC’s. I find them to be selfish, short-sighted, and inconsistent
2) The undertones of a poorly executed humiliation kink. I had the exact same issue in book 1. The FMC mentions over and over (and over and over) about how the MMC “just wants to humiliate” her. The trope of spanking as a punishment is overused and poorly done here IMO.
“…and I’m going to be spanked like a miscreant little minx! It’s so humiliating”
I’m sorry, are you feeling humiliated? I didn’t hear you the first 3638337 times.
Additionally, aside from the bond, I don’t truly feel any chemistry between the characters. And the pacing isn’t doing it for me.
This is the last of the books I’ll be reading in the series.
If you like long, meandering, and often repetitive inner monologues, then you are in for a treat with this....book. No point is so trivial that it can't be repeated at least a few times. Additionally, there is little to no character development, romance nor meaningful dialogue. Oh, joy. The one thing the book does have, however, are two secondary characters, Theme and Saw it that are interesting and show potential. And, that's really it. There is supposed to be a power exchange where sex is concerned, but the word "humiliation" gets applied a few times, and I find that I lost all interest. I don't find humiliation sexy at all. Go figure. So, this is a huge nope for me.
Alien Captain's Prisoner is the second book in the Captive Mate series, which is part of the Aurelian Empire universe by author Corin Cain. I love these books and make sure to never miss the ones recently released. In this story, Tasha steals from an Aurelian. Trouble is, she does not know if it is a rouge Aurelian or not. Rouge Aurelians do not abide by the rules of the empire, meaning, that they buy women from auction or plain steal them and force them into sexual slavery.
I usually don’t like ménage ‘a trios type books but do love sci fi so I tried this one. It did go along those lines with a triad of aliens and a human woman, but was definitely done tastefully. Tasha is a pilot of her own. Asking and is captured by the aliens and it is a love story in the making from going to despair g and hating them to the. All growing, learning and eventually loving one another, good read
A sci-fi romance with just a bit of a dark side. The Aurelians are big males that form triads. They spend their whole lives fighting and searching for that one female that is their fated mate. And since they can live thousands of years they do a lot of fighting. This story centers around Tasha. She’s a brilliant captain and pilot but luck may or may not be on her side. She will soon face a triad that won’t let her go.
So all these alien Warriors are looking for their faded mates. However they all collect harems. How are all the other Warriors is supposed to find their faded mates this way. Most likely they're feeding mate is in a different harem. They've pretty much made themselves die out because of this practice. It makes no sense. I wish the author handled this part of the story a little differently.
She thought she had got away Scott free but now she is on a ship filled with alien males who have not seen a female for a very long time. Who will claim her? Will she be able to escape the ship? Will she want to if she is mated to some of them? See how she gets on

FMC Tasha was a big ole judgmental Cu#$..I can see strong female, but she condemned the MMC’s for their actions, but she was exactly like them..example…she is mad at them for stealing the orbs from her…bitch stole them herself..another she can’t see having children with MMC’s cuz they are good role models…bitch needs to look in mirror she ain’t a good role model either.
I was so hoping book number 2 in this series would have an ending more satisfying than book 1! Very disappointed again! While the ending was a tad better it was still so abrupt. Again, wonderful world building- it’s just the ending! I wish we could see how a pregnancy would be with one of the triads. A nice little epilogue??? I don’t think I will continue the series.
This is a fabulous book. The world building is absolutely incredible. I love all the intricate details that the author brings to life. I love the diversity among the characters and how they aren’t all the same, even when all else seems like they should be. The plot is a wonder to behold. I laughed, I cried, I got angry and frustrated. This book has a little bit of everything.
Tasha and her crew go from the frying pan into the fire and are tractor beamed into an Aurelian ship where they meet Captain Aelon. Tasha and Sawoot are separated as this is a shipfull of male warriors. Yes things get rough and sexual.
This is a better story than the first in this series, but please get rid of the redundancy. The internal monologue is enough to bore you stiff. But if you skip over half of it, the story is good.
I was worried that this second book in the series would be too similar to the first but that’s not the case. A different setting and characters have different issues to make it an entertaining story.
