I was supposed to die. But he made me his. My tribe has chosen me as sacrifice. I am sent to starve in the dying cave. But I am not alone in this cavern of bones. There is something here. Something not quite human. Something very alien. And he wants me for his own.
CAVE ALIEN is a standalone romance in USAT Bestselling Author Loki Renard's new Ancient Earth Aliens series, a spin-off from her Amazon Bestselling Possessive Aliens series
Amazon Top 100, USA Today bestselling, and #1 bestselling author in multiple Amazon categories, Loki Renard writes sizzling hot, occasionally dark and twisted stories of dominance, submission and discipline.
Vulcan is a hot alien who suddenly finds himself on ancient Earth. Then he hears the beautiful voice of Tres and is drawn to her song and her fiery red hair. The twists, turns, and roundabouts in this story will keep the reader glued to this book to see the fate of these 2 characters. This book is awesome!
If you are a fan of Sci-Fi alien romance, you will love this book! Once again Loki Renard has concocted a fantastical story where there are aliens, ancient humans, time warp, mystical elements and steamy mating scenes between an alien and his human female mate. This book is about Vulcan, a Scythkin warrior alien who is the second in his brood/enclave of siblings. He has a hard time following orders issued by Krave, the first in his brood. We briefly met Vulcan in the prior book but here is where we really get to know him and see the softer side of him as well as how his disobedience lands him in a very complicated situation. Away from his brood and the familiarity of his ship, he must now find a way to survive on his own until his brood can rescue him. However the universe has been reformatted and what had been vanished is now in existence. Vulcan cannot understand what is happening and then he hears Tres singing. He is instantly captivated and drawn to a human that calls to a part of him he did not know existed. Tres is resigned to a damning life and is looking forward to her ceremonious death, until she meets Vulcan and experiences emotions she had never thought of before. Vulcan finds himself questioning all his warrior training because now his instincts point to a beautiful innocent songstress. When Vulcan sees that he is about to lose Tres, he makes a decision to forgo everything, even life, to be by her side. Their love story is the most adventurous so far, filled with a deep rooted bond at a deeper magical/spiritual level, and so many layers of timelines and realms that it was super engaging and entertaining. I cant wait to see what Loki is cooking up for the next book!
While I appreciate Ms. Renard's imagination and world-building (I particularly liked the riff on the Orpheus and Eurydice myth), this entry was my least favorite in this series of books for three reasons. First, it was too repetitious: far too many internal monologues went on forever and, after a while, told us nothing new. Tip to authors: If you're not giving readers information in a new or different way, take it out. In addition, though the MC was likeable and you root for their HEA, because their relationship is insta-lust and insta-love (and I'm talking really, really, really insta), there was no tension between them; rather, the conflict was with other "people." Since I like my focus to be on the MC, these other relationships simply did not hold my interest. Finally, the book had little focus: it was an uneasy blend of sci-fi, fantasy, myth, erotica, and adventure. While I appreciate twists and turns in my plots, at some point, I do want some stability; here, the storyline was simply too labyrinthine.
Since characters from Humans Must Kneel appear here, it's best to read that one first.
Truthfully, I found myself skimming a lot of this book. YMMV.
This really should be Possessive Aliens 4. Had I realized this is from the same series, I would have read 2 and 3 first. These are all technically stand alones, but I know the cast from this one was the focus of book 3. It read just fine, but knowing that pricked at me a bit. Not enough to stop and go back, obviously.
Cave Alien is a trip. 2 parts sci-fi, 1 part ancient mythology (I see you there, Eurydice and Orpheus), 1 part magic, and 1 part ancient human history...this story had a lot going on that didn't necessarily play together nicely. At times it felt like this one was pulling in different directions. It was still a fun romp with a humorous and adorably dangerous OTT Alpha alien and his numerically named human love interest—with a surprising amount to say about death and time travel philosophy—but it seemed to have identity issues at certain points. I will be curious to see where other stories in this second off-shoot series go. How many more reasons can be created to pull the Scythkin into the past?
“Your human mythologies speak many times about going into the underworld and then returning. I know it’s possible.”
“IT IS POSSIBLE. BUT. NOT TYPICAL.”
And I love this little nod to Terry Pratchett. Fun little Easter egg to stumble upon.
Vulcan has landed on Earth via a warp. How is that even possible? But he knows he cannot make any changes to Earth. It may cause more harm. But he has found an enchanting human, Tres, that he is drawn to. Tres is ready to be sacrificed but when she comes across the hulking alien, she has no fear. But he is not the God that she is to sacrifice herself to. And now she is doomed or is she?
I do love our Possessive Aliens. I love that we are still going back to the original group from time to time. Vulcan and his brothers work with Krave in the sim. This one has its sense of humor with Tyank. And our guys just have a thing for humans. But this adventure is a bit different. I felt the frustration and love from these two. You do get thrown into a twist. You learn about Tres’ singing and why it mattered. As well as something new about Vulcan. My heart broke during certain parts. Of course our aliens have a brutally passionate side. So many little query things were mentioned in the story You have to read it to find out.
While I loved the story itself, the synopsis kinda mislead me to think the story was going to go one way, but it went another way and the cave & creature within was a mere coincidence. Also near the end things got a bit confusing to understand, that sadly I was almost losing interest & focus, cause it all felt compacted together that it was like watching a Tennis Doubles Match. The cover, while HOT(!!), is also not completely accurate for the story. And ‘Technically’ the Title doesn’t completely fit the story as well (to me), cause the alien again is mere coincidence, I was expecting a ‘cave manned’ alien, and again technically...not what I got.
Despite what the things that let me down, it is a decent book.
So this story was completely unexpectedly different, but at the same time so entertaining and interesting, peppered with philosophical perspectives and refreshingly funny conclusions - actually just the right thing in these tense times to take a break from the madness of the real world. Absolutely courageous to write it and mastered it brilliantly! Wow, chapeau Mrs Renard!
This ended up not being what I was expecting from this author. There was very little action and very little heat at all. That said, I still enjoyed it. I have not read the original series this spun off from, but I don't think that that really affects the story here. Sure, it probably would have helped with a few things, but I don't think it's necessary like sometimes.
Tres had grown up her whole life as a condemned person because of her mother's actions, and knows that one day she will be sacrificed for her tribe. Her tribe which is led by a seriously messed up guy that sleeps with all the women...and then his daughters. Sons are killed or cast out. Females who can't provide him with more daughters are also cast out. So with this kind of upbringing, she has basically been brainwashed. Then add to that that she is an ancient human so her knowledge of the world and everything in it is severely limited. Because of those two things, I was getting seriously frustrated with her for a lot of the book.
Vulcan is a huge, horned alien with blades all over his body...from the future. During a battle at the location where Earth used to be, he ends up getting sent back in time to when it was still there are populated by primitive humans. He knows he has to be super careful not to do anything that will mess up the timeline. But when he hears Tres singing, he is powerless to not answer her call.
Tres has limited time life to live as she is soon to be thrown into a volcano because her people think that that will protect them. Away from the village where nobody can hear her, she finds peace in letting out her song. And when a huge creature shows up in response, she finds herself not afraid of him like she should be, but entranced instead. Which ends up well enough as he gives her more pleasure than she ever thought possible. Until they are caught. Her actions have caused her to been as no longer worthy as an offering, so instead she will meet her end tied to a plank until she starves to death.
And that's how Vulcan finds her. Tres is very close to dying, but he refuses to let her. He feels as if something has tied them together and he will die before he lets anything happen to her. It was interesting to see Vulcan's conflicts about what he should do or feel about Tres. What she brings out in him is nothing like his race usually is. These two fall in love in a matter of days, and for once it didn't bother me. I liked how Tres wanted to belong to Vulcan and wanted to live for and with him. I honestly thought the bond between them was going to be some sort of fated mate thing, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
While waiting for his brothers to find a way to save him, Vulcan has to dispatch some fellow aliens from the future before they can mess anything up. And while he is away, Tres suffers a terrible injury. After which is when things start to get more complicated and interesting. While Tres is reunited with her father, whose identity is quite shocking, Vulcan goes on a rampage to try and get to her again.
The ending was weird and a little crazy, but also makes perfect sense if you think about it. And it was nowhere near anything that I had been expecting for the whole book to happen.
Tres is considered condemned. Her mom was killed by her tribe leader and Tres was cut from her belly to be raised as a sacrifice to the volcanic mountain. As she is preparing for her sacrifice when she reaches of age, she takes a final walk through the fields and a singing. There she finds Vulcan. He somehow gets separated from his group on a spaceship is thrown through a wormhole. He lands on earth. Apparently it’s supposed to be ancient earth as he observes the animals in the grass and comes face-to-face with Tres. Because she supposed to be untouched by any form of the imagination, she has handprints on her from the ash that Vulcan had. That’s they try to kill her. He saves her and takes her away even though he has strict rules and orders not to alter anything that happens on earth. Ahhhh, A little too late. As a result these two exploring the land that they’re on. Checking out the other tribe etc. Meanwhile while can is waiting for his pick up to return to his ship we well he finds it there are other species of aliens on the planet that he either has to get rid of or figure out what their plan is for the planet. Here’s an interesting story on how things evolve and things get resolved especially since she is maybe, kinda, sorta his mate.

Wow! What an adventure this sci-fi romance is! Vulcan is a beastly warrior from another time/place. Tres is an outcast on ancient Earth destined to be sacrificed until Vulcan saves her and gives her a reason to live. But their road to happiness won’t be easy. They are both hunted. Will they find a way to survive? Will Vulcan ever make it back home? Will Tres go with him or is it her destiny to die on Earth? There is plenty of magic and mystery here. As well as cruelty and death. I love Tres’ spirit and resourcefulness. She’s stronger than she realises. And Vulcan will go beyond the end of the world for her. “Cave Alien” is engrossing, interesting, and original. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Confused… It must be a scary place inside Loki’s head! Her stories are so diverse and can be hit or miss, but once you start to read then it is difficult not to just keep on watching out for the next book
I am not sure I like this book, but I simply could not put it down..

Tres knows that her fate is to be sacrificed for her tribe. Vulcan, a Scythkin warrior alien from the future goes back in time through a time warp during a battle to a primitive time on Earth. He knows that he must not do anything that will change the timeline as he waits for his people to come for him and return him to his own time.
While he waits, Vulcan hears Tres singing and is drawn to her. The warrior has found his mate, but things will not be easy for them with the numerous complications that will try to keep them apart. Will Vulcan have to leave Tres behind? Will she meet another fate before he can keep her safe?
There will be surprises, twists and turns, and adventure along the way. The characters are easily likable and the story line tense, keeping the reader invested in the outcome. Grab your copy and see what Fate has in store for these unlikely mates.
Poor sad Tres has grown up with no love, just the expectation that she will eventually be sacrificed to the mountain god. Vulcan, a Scythkin warrior has gotten sucked into a time-warp and finds himself on ancient earth where he finds his fated mate with the voice and song of the angels. As Tres and Vulcan discover each other Krave, first born and leader along with Tyank, the last born are furiously trying to figure out how to get Vulcan back to his own time. There are complications for Tres and Vulcan of course the path to true love is rarely an easy one. Tres is scheduled to die as a sacrifice for her clan but her scheduled death is put aside for a more immediate punishment death due to her being witnessed by her clan with Vulcan in a compromising position. Vulcan saves Tres but it just the beginning of the many problems her unknown origins and his displacement in time create. I was thrilled that another Scythkin warrior has found his mate with a human but distressed by the many obstacles the couple face as they try to find a way to be together for the rest of their lives. I really enjoyed each story of the Scythkins, their hatched sequence that says who rules the others but still has a family feel to it, in spite of the many verbal and at times physical sparring that occurs. I hope we get to read more of these magnificent monster-men as they are very interesting and many times hysterical with each other. Each story has proven that love really can conquer all!
A cool survival story! There's a lot of action happening in this fast-moving plot. Volcan is a reluctant hero and Tres was the ultimate victim, but they worked together. I liked the way the story unfolded, it was a short story, a quick read, but it was packed with all the ways that humans are not humane. I got confused towards the end when the magical Puck-like character tried to change this rescue book into a strangely even more twisted version if aA Midsummer Night's Dream It was because of this confusing section that I went to a four-star instead of a five-star review.
I am just absolutely enthralled with the Skythkin stories! Loki Renard gives us Vulcan and Tess' story and OMG! It's enthralling with our alien warriors, Earth superstitions and beliefs, outer space, and the underworld. Of the three brothers, Vulcan is the hot-head, irrational, action before he thinks kind of male so his story just blew me out of the water. And Tess? Yeah, that came out of left field and I totally wasn't expecting her story. This was absolutely thrilling and I can't wait for the next book in the "Ancient Earth Aliens" series. Congratulations, Loki on another five-star review. It's well deserved.
Tres &Vulcan Tres was left as a sacrifice. The alien in the cave will claim me. I loved Tres and Vulcan’s story!!!! he travels through time back to Earth before it was destroyed ,anything he does can change the future what's the worst that can happen? Oh my this book is Extremely captivating, sexy, steamy, I can’t get enough of the turmoil, lust, love, drama and secrets rolled out the red carpet, cordoning off the area and seizing control, throwing this baby into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, blowing it into a tailspin with a shocking culmination. A throng of vexing shenanigans and a bevy of turbulent events running rampant, propelling this bad boy to life beautifully. Intense drama, thrumming tension, electrifying suspense and fierce danger spirals, as intrigue skyrockets, melding this baby together seamlessly. Add distress and turmoil along with perplexing situations and a boatload of trouble, propelling this little fella to staggering heights. Meting out striking, well rounded scenario's, Electrifying, dark and delicious! I devoured every tantalizing word..."
I loved this story. Vulcan, a Scythkin second born, is thrown back in a time warp and ends up on ancient Earth. Hearing a song, he is drawn to it and finds Tres standing in a field. The sexual attraction is instant and their encounter is viewed from women of her tribe who return and relate the story to their leader. Tres was to have been a virgin sacrifice for the mountain god and because of Vulcan’s actions she is no longer pure and is bound and left to die in a cave. Tres is not who she appears to be but even she is not aware of her uniqueness. Her song is what brought Vulcan to Earth and eventually it will save the both of them. There is a lot of action in this story which makes it a great read. The attraction between Vulcan and Tres is beautifully written and holds your attention. Vulcan and Tres is finally reunited with his brood and Krave who is their leader. This is a great read and I would highly recommend it.
Another great addition to the Possessive Aliens series, this is Vulcan and Tres’s story. I think you’d get more out of it if you read the series in order. There’s time travel, suspense, romance, dominant alpha hero wrapped into a fantasy story but with the added benefit of highlighting humanities flaws and nature. The heroine has the usual spunk you would expect and Vulcan is allowed to show his softer side which is nice as I didn’t think he had one! I liked the banter between the brothers too, always nice when loved characters from earlier in the series make an appearance. The last few chapters didn’t quite flow for me, hence the four stars, but I would still recommend it and found it to be a very enjoyable read.

I absolutely loved this story it’s about Tres who has been left as a sacrifice in a mountain of bones Tres knows that it’s her time to die but she is rescued by an alien Vulcan who was sucked through time and he ended up in the past. I could go on and on about this story but I won’t you can find out for yourself what it’s like, so many conflicts so much passion I loved Tres’s and Vulcan’s story it’s an amazing read and I can’t wait to read more from this author it’s a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Tres is a virgin condemned to become the mountain’s bride. Vulcan is a scythkin warrior sucked into the vortex of a newly formed planet. As Vulcan walks, he hears Tres singing. He is amazed by her beauty and her sound as his voice joins hers. When her tribe sees her with Vulcan, they leave her to die. She is no longer worthy to be a sacrificed bride to a volcano. Vulcan finds her near to death and saves her life.
This is a complex story of love between an earthling and a Scythkin Warrior. There are twists and turns involved in the rescue of Vulcan by his brothers and his adamant insistence that Tres be saved along with him. He is determined to do whatever is necessary to protect and preserve her precious existence. You must read for yourself to be able to see the lengths he will employ to save his love.
Wow! This book is a real mind bending experience! If you thought the space-time continuum was crazy, this book will blow that out of existence! This story has a love conquers all theme. Two souls willing to travel through space, time and even death to be with the one they love and belong to. I don’t want to spoil the experience of reading this book by explaining more - just take the chance and read something unusual and amazing. This book is definitely one of the most unique stories I have ever read.
Downloaded from BookSprout. I received this book free from the author for my honest review. Since I rely heavily on reviews to make decisions about purchases, I will never lie or over-exaggerate my opinion. There is nothing worse than seeing a bunch of 5 star reviews and realizing the book is full of errors or just plain bad and not worth my hard earned money!
Loki has written another cracker of book with her Possessive Alien series but this time the time warp from future to past and back again is thought provoking and also with twists and turns that I love.. Vulcan a Scythkin warrior defies orders gets sucked into a time warp and finds himself on ancient Earth... Tres future is bleak, she is the village outcast who is to be sacrificed to the mountain volcano Hyrrm, but had always seem to be upbeat about it...but she always had a power of song in her soul and that brought Vulcan and Tres together... I loved these two characters together, they just clicked really well and the emotional rollercoaster as they fought for each other was heart warming and wrenching.....and I think this is the best book of the series so far...
First, i loved this book. I love this series. Now I have to figure out what else to say. This book went so beyond a normal sci-fi alien romance. Even at Loki Renards standards. I felt like I went through a mini philosophy class while reading this intense and steamy story. Vulcan and Tres fought against desth itself to be together. Just know that this book will draw you in and captivate you. I woukd highly recommend. Happy reading! Rating 5 stars

They say we all have a soulmate and if we are lucky enough to find them we would move mountains, defeat foes and challenge death itself to be together. Tres and Vulcan come from two entirely different worlds and times. Time and circumstance pull them together and lust, chemistry and heat form bonds. Bonds that are tested, strained and torn but never broken. This alien and human will encounter enemies, danger and the ultimate separation. But love and good friends can conquer all and Tres and Vulcan just might have a chance at love among the stars. Loved it!!
This was an amazing, fast paced, love story that transcended time and space! Vulcan finds himself on ancient earth and falls for an ethereal human named Tres. They are drawn to each other like a moth to a flame. Their story is one of heartbreak and pain. But also a story of fighting for what you want and never letting go.
This story was funny and adventurous with lots of twists and turns throughout. I loved these two characters and also the interactions with the other possessive aliens. Amazing writing and storytelling. Loved it.
Tres is nothing but a tool for her village. They plan on sacrificing her to the volcano, Hyrrm. The village chief, Trelok, is just a power hungry douche (I can not stand him).
Vulcan has found himself on Earth, definitely not what he expected, at all. He is to hide and not interfere what so ever...we know that'll never happen.
Tres and Vulcan are a mated match and what a match it is! She keeps him on his toes and he shows her the love she's been missing.
This story has some amazing things in it, things we've never seen before with previous Scythkin books and it is fantastic!!!! I do hope we get more Scythkin's and humans, these girls keep them on their toes!
I can’t get enough of this author’s books!! She writes a world that will suck you in and never want to leave. Tres has a voice in her that when she sings it is beautiful and captivating, so captivating it sucks Vulcan into the past with her. She is just a tool for her village and I can’t STAND the chief!!! She is to be a virginal sacrifice to the volcano as a mountain bride but her interactions with Vulcan are seen as impure and she is left in the alien cave on death’s door. There are many twists and turns that kept me glued to my kindle. Will Vulcan be able to save Tres and make it back to his time? I can’t wait for more from this author!!
Who would have thought an alien covered with sharp blades and with fangs could be so appealing?!? Vulcan may be the hottest Scythkin ever. What he will go through to be with the woman he loves is epic. Tres has been brought up to believe she will be sacrificed to a "god". What a horrible life! This book had a great storyline, great flow and pace. The only negative for me were the last couple of chapters got a little murky fro me. But, this is a great addition or spin off to the Possessive Aliens series by Loki Renard. Great Read. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
