Author Jeff Dixon once again combines thrilling fiction, faith, and Disney facts in Kingdom Chaos, a stand-alone novel with crossover to his beloved novel series, Dixon on Disney. As the story unfolds, the controversial President Tyler Pride and his family board a monorail at the Transportation and Ticket Center for a trip to the Epcot Resort. When the monorail arrives at Epcot, the president and his family are gone. A national crisis instantly explodes across the Disney resort. The president has been kidnapped. And if the president is missing at Walt Disney World, who better to find him than the man who knows Walt Disney World better than anyone who has ever lived, Grayson Hawkes? This is a political and ideological thriller, an action-adventure mystery, and, also, a story of how faith and politics sometimes clash. Like Dixon's past novels, Kingdom Chaos can best be described as "faction," a weaving of fact and fiction set in the Walt Disney World Resort in Central Florida. The places and locations are real, and the novel builds on events from the life of Walt Disney and the history of the Walt Disney World Resort. The sights, the sounds, and the secrets of the themed resort all become a part of solving the mystery and trying to save the president of the United States. Kingdom Chaos is set in the same fictionalized Disney World as the original novel series Dixon on Disney. Grayson Hawkes and other characters return, joined by new characters and a threat with national implications unlike any they've faced before. Along the way, we will unpack enough of their backstory to create numerous fun Hidden Mickeys for readers of the original series to find and connect to the first four books. Thousands of readers have already enjoyed Dixon's special blend of Disney fact and fiction in his beloved four-part Dixon on Disney series, which is comprised of The Key to the Kingdom (2010, Deep River Books), Unlocking the Kingdom (2012, Deep River Books), Storming the Kingdom (2014, Deep River Books), and Terror in the Kingdom (2016, Deep River Books).
Jeff is the author of a series of books set in Central Florida, in and around the Walt Disney World Resort. These mystery thrillers are loaded with trivia, hidden secrets, and loaded with adventure as parody, reality, and fiction built on fact (or "faction" as some have called it, collide in epic stories that are designed to take readers on the ultimate thrill ride.
Loved it!!! A Read for all Disney Loving Mystery Fans. Jeff’s writing makes you feel as though you are right there in the park witnessing everything first hand.
Kingdom Chaos is a stand alone book that uses the same characters as Storming the Kingdom! Having some of the back story was helpful yet did not affect the story! Mr. Dixon wants to make sure the reader has a solid understanding of what is happening in the story as well as in the real world, to the point he is sometimes redundant. I feel the repeat content at times is distracting however, I am not sure if that is due to his repetitive parts within the story or due to my prior knowledge and the fact these details were not new to me.
I feel it is imperative the reader spend time in the Twice Upon a Time section and make sure they have a good understanding of the factual events in Disney history that this story uses as its building blocks. Understanding the events makes the story even more realistic.
I did get a strong feeling that Mr. Dixon was trying to tie in our current administration’s characteristics to his character and I found that very hard to embrace. The character he developed created a look and feel with you mind. I feel the sections Mr. Dixon went into lengthy detail pushing our administration’s characteristics on the reader, lessened the characters upstanding use of power and weakened the overall impressive feel the character was giving without the extra details.
Overall the story was full of great detail and by using the characters many of us already love created a story that the reader was tied to with their heart! I found myself laughing, crying and nervous as the events were unfolding. The Disney details will have you walking right down the middle of Main Street USA with the characters.
Kingdom Chaos would have been a strong 5 stars for me if I did not feel the huge Presidential push to make him have characteristics I did not feel fit his actions.
Another beautiful, fast paced, surprising ride around Disney. I always feel like I am really there, so good is the writing skill of this amazing man. Thank you for allowing me to visit ‘home’ even when I am miles away xx
