St Nicholas was not quite what Kelly Moore had expected.
For one thing, he was far too sexy for his own good and wears biker leathers instead of a flannel suit. For another, he traded in his sleigh for a growly Harley.
All Kelly wants is her family for Christmas. Can St Nicholas deliver?
Marilize is an author of historical romance set in Cape Town, South Africa, but writes short stories inbetween for fun.
She used to comb the libraries and second-hand book sales for out-of-print copies of Afrikaans historical romance novels by authors such as Wille Martin and Ena Murray. She has always had a fascination for Cape Town history and Regency Romance, and thought to introduce the rest of the world to Regency-era Cape Town.
She's tried her hand at many different occupations, including working at a riding school as riding instructor, trail guide, stable manager, saddler, and horse handler on TV shows. She's worked as freelance typist, photographic assistant, maintenance contractor's assistant, Public Relations Consultant, and Administrative Assistant. These days she is a proud member of ROSA (Romance Writers' Organization of South Africa).
She lives with her husband and son in Muizenberg, Cape Town, and is currently hard at work on her next novel.
Saint Nick is certainly not your merry old man in some serious need to start a diet. No, this guy would be in many dreamy wish-lists for sure.
I laughed a lot and aawwwnnn a lot. There is an element of maybe-real-maybe-magic that I appreciated, and at the end of the day, this story is as much about second chances as it is following one's magical heart.
I do wonder though, does she have creative friends or friends in high places? 'Cause I can totally picture "Santa" having a second job when he's not working on Christmas day XD
A Christmas to remember and a Santa "Nick" Kelly will never forget. Who would have thought a second chance to live life and really be would come in the most unexpected package. This was a gift read that made me laugh, cry, and swoon.
This was an odd little Christmas short story. I found the dialogue and narrative stiff, but it fits with the historical fiction that the author usually writes.
