Harper A. Brooks may be a Jersey girl at heart, but now she likes to hideout in the mountains of Virginia with bigfoot and all his little woodland friends. Even though classic authors have always filled her bookshelves, she finds her writing muse drawn to the dark, magical, and romantic. When she isn’t creating entire worlds with sexy shifters or legendary love stories, you can find her either with a good cup of coffee in hand or at home snuggling with her furry, four-legged son, Sammy.

I am not a big fan of short stories just because I prefer longer books. Not only that, I don’t like holiday-themed books. However, as I am a fan of this author’s book, I read it anyway. First off, it did not read like a short story, and Christmas wasn’t a central theme in this. The book felt like a longer story because it was filled with an excellent plot, wonderful characters, and an epic ending. I loved seeing things from Kay’s point of view; we get to learn so much about her in this one. There are some surprises, too! You don’t have to have read the others in this series to read this one, but I think to appreciate it more, you should. Besides, they are all great books. Fans for her other books in the series will love the ending! Highly recommend! I was provided a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Christmas Spirits by Harper A Brooks is a novella set within the Reaper Reborn Universe, but set around secondary characters of the Series, this time, best friend Kay, her boyfriend Laurence, and their baby Zach.
Kay is walking home late from a catering gig, when her Medium senses tingle, causing her to pause and look around. Investigation finds some wanna-be paranormal investigators in a circle chanting something Kay doesn’t recognize. But the portal above their heads opening, and the darkness trying to squeeze through has her chasing them away.
Thinking job well done, Kay goes home to her family. The next day, those Medium senses tingle again, and she finds herself and sleeping baby Zach attacked by a formless black entity that can make contact on the living side of the veil. Can she keep her little family safe and disentangle herself from this entity? You have to read this and find out!! 5 awesome stars!!
Christmas Spirits is Kay’s story and oh is it a good one!
I knew there was more to her and I was excited that I would get to read her story. Kay is a medium and finds out way more than she bargained for. This was a short and highly enjoyable read. Other characters make an appearance which was way awesome. I loved everything about it! This is one of my favorite series and I can’t wait for more! I give this 5 stars.

It was an interesting story. The characters were well thought of. The author but a lot of thought into the characters. The details were incredible. A enjoyable book.

This is a fab short read from the reaper reborn universe! A fab story that shows us Kay and her family, has an intriguing plot and some excellent characters! Well worth a read!
"I couldn’t do this again. An evil spirit after me, able to hurt me, Laurence, and Zach?" - Kay
Kay was a business owner, a bakery called "Oh! Kay's!" . Extremely busy with the Christmas season upon her, a single mom, and a medium, Kay has her hands full trying to juggle all the aspects of her life. The creeping sensation is a warning, one Kay knows she mustn't ignore. But... There's nothing there... Was there?
After being attacked in her home, Kay is desperate for answers. Kay's friend Arianna might have them, but are the answers Kay receives the answers she needs? Kay is terrified the disembodied entity is after more than just communication....
"Right then I realized I couldn’t do this anymore. I wasn’t cut out for this stuff. All the chaos and danger. I wasn’t like Jade; I wasn’t a fighter. I was a peacekeeper. A baker. All these knuckles came in contact with was dough." - Kay
Another amazing, fast-paced tale, leaping from scene to scene. Kept me guessing until the very end!
Our heroine is a medium, which means the spirits are real to her. This can be particularly disturbing when all you want is a little holiday cheer.
This is a side story in the author's reaper series. It is written as a standalone and does just fine that way.
This is an urban fantasy story. The story is very well written and easy to read, with a well detailed world that is fascinating to explore and gets more detailed with each book. The characters are well developed and like that we get to see the world from another perspective in this story. The plot has several of twists and turns which keep you guessing. Overall, a highly enjoyable story and I continue to enjoy everything about this series.
Highly recommended.

I loved how this book was of Kay, Laurence and their baby Zach who we have meet in the series and are friends of Jade. Kay has a gift which we have had glimpses of and we learn more about it as well as her as she is a very lovable characters and one of Jades closest friends. Some idiots decide to dabble in the paranormal which leads to Kay needing to try and keep her family safe, rid the evil that is now present in the living world and if that wasn't enough its Christmas time! You wouldn't think it is a shorter book due to the great story that has plenty going on, yet doesn't feel rushed nor missing information.

I am a big fan of the series and it was a nice treat to get this shorter story featuring Kay. I would highly recommend it to fans of the series as a great way to get a better understanding of one of the featured characters.
While it is a shorter read, it doesn't feel unfinished or rushed. The author is able to develop the storyline and really present a good story that entertains throughout.
Don’t you just hate unwanted guests? Yeah well Kay got a very unwanted poltergeist right before Christmas. This being inhabited her mom and without the help of jade or Elijah she had to handle things on her own. This girl is strong and when lush came to shove she overcame it and saved her mom and her family just in time to celebrate the holidays . That is until Elijah shows up and bam nice cliffhanger ! Can’t wait to read the next book in this fabulous series.
I love stories about mediums. This was an interesting little read and was quick to read and enjoy. The main character, Kay, kept me interested all throughout the book. She didn't seem to particularly enjoy her gifts, but she was a very responsible woman, so she used them either way to keep her family safe.

Christmas Spirits novella is part of the Reaper Reborn universe and is an engaging read.
Kay has to deal with some supernatural entities that were released through a portal accidentally opened by some idiot wanna-be paranormal investigators. There is danger, suspense, and great twists in this short novella.
I really liked this short story featuring the medium kay who is jades bestfriend. It was very interesting to see how the otherside sees it. This being a short story it still had plenty of danger and non-stop action. This one is a winner.

I really liked this story. This one is a little shorter read but don’t let that stop you from reading. Story is just as great as the rest of Harper Brooks other books. This story centers on Kay the medium. Storyline is fantastic. Characters are wonderful. Seriously you will not want to put it down once you start reading. I really enjoyed this one.
This was a really good read. I loved the storyline and the characters. I found both well written and interesting. I would definitely recommend reading. (I received this book as an arc and am leaving a voluntary honest review)
Christmas spirits was awesome!! I felt so bad for Kay in this story! Especially after what she had gone through in a previous story! I’m very happy with the turn out of this story and look forward to more to come!! Definitely recommend!
This novella tells Kay’s story along with her boyfriend Laurence and their baby Zach. Kay is a medium and her life gets crazy when her medium senses start tingling. Since it’s pretty short, it’s completely packed with action! Kay is such a great character. This is a great addition to the Reaper Reborn universe!

I just loved this intimate but thrilling tale from the best friend of Jade. Kay and Laurence are just adorable, and I love the way they try to share what they can with the people they deem to be family. It was also interesting to get a shift in the story about how Jade is perceived by her friends. A last thought: best to be read between the 3rd and 4th book of the main series.
Really liked this book. Getting to know more about Kay and her distinctive gifts. She learns to have confidence in herself as she grows through being attacked by evil spirit. Your heart strings are pulled tight with this book. A year jerker for me. A must read.
A feeling of hopelessness almost followed Kay around in this story, but I was still glued to it the entire time! Such an imaginative story with wonderful and vibrant storytelling that I was transported in. I loved all the drama and that ending was perfect! I am a sucker for holiday themed reads and this one fid not disappoint! Well worth the read by a new to me author!
We got to see a decent amount of Kay early on in the Reaper Reborn as Jade's best friend, but after she had her son being a part of Jade's somewhat chaotic lifestyle didn't seem so appealing to her and her boyfriend Lawrence while trying to start a new family so Jade decided to give her space while trying to take care of her responsibilities. Well it looks like the chaotic lifestyle part wasn't done with Kay because she is not front and center dealing with her own version of it. After stopping some kids from playing with supernatural elements far out of their expertise and tearing open the veil to Hell something evil sets its sights on Kay and she has to find a solution to keep her family safe before her medium gift / curse gets them all killed.
This really did not read like a novella and I enjoyed the entire thing. I liked getting to know more about Kay and her little family. I was honestly disappointed by her and Lawrence during their last appearance during the series so I was interested in getting to know more about them so I could see their side of things. Kay was pretty great in the fact that she is not an in your face fighter like Jade is, but as the book goes on you begin to see her strengths and the same with Lawrence. They are similar in the way they have that lack of confidence in their gifts. It was also good to see how some of her past and personal life is unveiled. Hopefully we will get to see more of the same with Lawrence in the future. The storyline had a good amount of action and suspense and the ending will have you ready to read the next book ASAP.
As this story of the Reaper Reborn Series starts, it is focusing on Kay, the medium, her new baby, Laurence her boyfriend, and their friend Arianna the level 3 witch. Kay is expanding her bakery shop business doing catering job. As she was walking home after her latest catering job she hears noises in an old abandon house and she goes to check to see if anyone was hurt. Kay she sees a group of young people chanting something and as a medium she sees that they are tearing the thinning veil between hell and earth apart. Kay yells for them to stop. She has them leave the property and watches to make sure it goes back to normal. However, what Kay does not realize is that something has attached to her. A spirit that can touch things in the living world? This is unheard of. Going to ask Arianna what it is they find out it is a Poltergeist! You will need to read to see what Kay, Laurence, and Arianna go through to figure out how to get it to leave Kay alone. What is Kay besides a medium? Quick read this and get ready for the cliffhanger!
I really love this series, and this book was a great look into what Kay has been going thru. With Christmas around the corner, Oh Kay’s bakery business is picking up quickly. On her way home from a delivery, she sees a group of amateur ghost hunters opening a tear in the veil, and she quickly intervenes. Thinking everything is good, she goes home… but unfortunately something DID get out of the tear before it closed and now the poltergeist is after her.
She and Lawrence try to get help from Arianna who gets them in touch with a necromancer, but they need to get the poltergeist’s body first.
Kay learns that she is much more powerful than she believes but can she face her fear to do what she needs to do?
I love how this book fits seamlessly into the series and has some surprise visits from Eli and Sean and ends going into what the series is facing!!
Cant wait to read more!

Christmas Spirits is the next installment in the Reaper Reborn series. This book takes readers through Christmas time, and gives us a first look into Kay’s life. Plus, some of the trouble that she manages to get into right before the holidays. Buckle up buttercup because this story is fast-paced and you won’t be putting it down until you’ve reached the final page, where...wait for you...you get a twist! Awesome stuff, right? LOL! Well, Kay’s getting ready for the holidays. All is well, but there are some idiots out there who decide that Christmas time is the perfect time to go playing with things they know nothing about. Major damage to their lives may be averted, but it puts Kay in the direct path of something dark, old and sinister. Curious? Grab this book and find out what happens! This book is truly enjoyable from beginning to end. Getting a glimpse into Kay’s life and her place in the story, plus so much more? Priceless. 5 out of 5 stars
Kay, a medium and a skilled baker, is preparing herself for the Christmas rush and all the baking orders incoming, when on a way coming home she interrupts a group of kids summoning ghosts, and ends up with an unwanted "stalker" - a poltergeist that is a real threat to her and her family. And especially shortly before Christmas, such obstacle might be deadly, so she needs to find a solution fast.. and learn more about herself on the way than she realized. It is a nice addition to the main series, showing a little bit of Kay's life, her backstory, her relationship, and the depth of her skills. It was very interesting seeing Kay's mother to enter the scene, and have the action and tension combined with romance (her bf can be so sweet). But most of all I enjoyed the detour into necromancy. Nice and fast novella.
Christmas Spirits is a quick short Story and it's happening during the time that Jade is taking her Angel Tests in Heaven. Christmas Spirits falls between book 3 and mostly book 4. It features Kay, Arianna, Laurence, Baby Zach (Zachary is Kay and Laurence's baby) and Jade's Guardian Angel Elijah (Eli for short). Lots of excitement goes on when Kay walks home from a Catering job that she did. when she comes upon a van with cords going from the van into a vacant house. Well what would anybody do.. she investigated on what was happening instead of walking on. to me.. I think it was a bad idea but to Kay... not so much. This story has a shocking ending as to what happens but it ended on a happy note. So if you love Sweet Endings, Happy Get Togethers and Awesome friends then you need to read this book.
Kay just wanted a normal life.....seeing ghosts, being a medium, did bring trouble at her door so she is hoping for at least a normal christmas with her family. However fate is not cooperating when a poltergheist, soul of serial killer, attach itself to her to syphon her energy. With Laurence and Arianna magical help, Kay will need to accept her powers completly and not fear them if she wants to save her life and family.
Secrets are revealed and it's full of action, really addictive story and the novella fit perfectly in the time line between book 3 and 4. You don't need to read it to understand the main story but it's a wonderful bonus to see more of Kay and other secondary characters' powers
Harper gives us an awesome short story in the Reaper Reborn series! This side story about Kay, Lawrence and baby Zach at Christmas is Not your usual Christmas story. As a medium, single mom and baker extrordinare, all Kay wants is a normal, quiet holiday with her son and boyfriend after getting all the catering jobs done.. but that's not what happens. Insert a poltergeist, necromancer and some surprising revelations and you're closer to the mark! Beautifully written with complex characters and plot twists that keep you turning pages throughout, this is a delightful story that could easily become a favourite. I really enjoyed reading this story and highly recommend the series. Don't miss out on this book!!
