In the live music industry, Eddie Valenzuela’s seen enough bands to know what good really sounds like. During one wild night out, he collides headfirst with an up-and-coming singer who puts ‘good’ to shame. She’s got the voice, the look, and holy hell, the body too. But after a sizzling week together, the singer who seemed like Mrs. Right turns out to be Mrs. Not Quite Right when she disappears without so much as an Instagram handle.
Fiona Frank’s only goal in life was to make it big doing what she loved: playing music. And her hard work paid off, in the form a big-time record deal that has her doing TV shows, radio spots, and even her first international tour. Her career is built on spurning love and staying single, though she’s never been opposed to the occasional lover. As long as they don’t last. And she’ll do whatever it takes to make sure that the world falls in love with The Sin Girl.
But she wasn’t ready for the positive pregnancy test on her first international tour. There’s only one man that could be the father: Eddie. While Fiona grapples with the next steps, Eddie is determined to make a family out of the three of them. But if the label finds out that she’s not only pregnant but seeing someone, then its goodbye stardom.
Which means she has to figure out how to break her fall.
Back to the original peeps for this book. Eddie is Amara's brother and due for his HEA. Loved Eddie, but Fiona sure did get on my nerves. She needed a therapist a whole lot sooner than she got one. The past did a number on her, but I didn't see it as being as bad as she did. Loved seeing all the old peeps again.
This book and I didn't get along. It was a real struggle for me to get to the end - mainly because I had a real, serious dislike for Fiona. I didn't mind her career focus, I had no issue with her sexuality or prior level of promiscuity (your body, your choice). I had real, serious issues with how she treated Eddie.
At the start of the book she and Eddie have a 54 hour-night-stand. Even though his friends warned him about Fiona, Eddie obviously got all the feels immediately for Fiona. Fiona, also, seemingly returned those feels. But, she didn't talk to Eddie at all about how this wasn't going to be more than a brief fling. She should have set the expectations with him from the start. When she ghosted him - she was callous and carelessly cruel She knew he was expecting her to call - and even said she'd message him. He background of being mistreated and programmed to not trust men - didn't give her the basis to pre-emptively mistreat people in return. It is one thing to go into a one-nighter with both parties having no expectations - but a whole other thing when no expectations are set.
This unfortunately sets the tone for the rest of the book. Eddie is clearly a good guy with strong family ties and a desire for a relationship. If Fiona and Eddie had talked - I think both of them would have seen they were on widely different ends of the spectrum - despite their serious chemistry.
Overall - I was pretty sure the only reason Fiona felt Riley was the only one in her corner, who believed in her, was that Riley was the only one Fiona trusted at all and didn't pretty seriously mistreat.
Fiona isn't a bad person - and she does come around by the end of the book (or at least we are told she does - with the help of some quality therapy) - but I'm not sure she really redeems herself.
I probably should have skipped this one - because a surprise baby is my LEAST favorite trope in all of romance. I also find it interesting, always, that the heros in surprise baby books are usually really clueless as to their legal rights - as are the mom's of those babies. Fiona has this idea that Eddie is going to be a distant coparent - which is not a rational thought based on what he is telling her. I am guessing, had push come to shove and Fiona hadn't realized how she felt about Eddie - Eddie could have easily taken her to court for split custody. Given her label created image - the conservative courts might have even been inclined to have Eddie be the custodial parent. Not fair - but a true reality.
Overall - this book just wasn't for me.
I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all (obviously) my own. I'm sorry I don't have more positive things to say!
I feel like a broken record at this point in my reviews for Ember Leigh's books. Her books are gems. I've been saying it and I will keep saying it though because you really don't mess with success. Leigh can enchant me and pull me into stories like no one else can. The writing is high quality and the writing voice is one that speaks to me so much.
I loved Eddie and Fiona's story. I was itching for more of Eddie after reading Breaking the Rules. There is so much more to him under the surface. He has reached the point in his life where he wants more. More meaningful things. I loved seeing him navigate this new phase of his life. Fiona was also someone with layers. She had a lot more under the surface as well. She hid a lot of her fears and had some personal demons to work through. We don't see an awful lot of her actually working through her issues but we see her try to take the first steps. I loved seeing all of the other couples and characters from the other books in this series. All of these characters really bring so much to the individual stories of the series. I love the dynamic. I also love that each character has a distinct personality in each book.
I think that Fiona and Eddie were a perfect match for each other. They had a definite spark from the instant that they met and it didn't peter out with time but got stronger. I was rooting for their happily ever after from the rooftops.
I loved the plot in this one and how things worked out in the end. I was definitely kept on the edge of my seat anticipating the turn of events.
Overall, this was another knockout story from Ember Leigh. I am so in love with this series and these characters are so special. I can't wait for more!
I loved Ember Leigh's "Breaking the Fall." Both of the main characters, Fiona and Eddie, were incredibly likeable and sympathetic, and it was easy to root for them both individually and as a couple. Eddie was a hard worker, a caring brother and friend, and very passionate about his career and music in general. It made total sense to me that he would fall in love with a musician like Fiona, who was so committed to her craft. As for Fiona, I really appreciated that she wasn't ashamed to show her true self to the world through her music. Her brand as the Sin Girl may have been exaggerated by her record label, but it certainly had a basis in truth.
I'm not usually a fan of romances that rely on insta-love as a primary basis for the main characters' relationship, but in this case, it worked for me. Eddie and Fiona's chemistry was electric from the very beginning, but they also had so much in common that it was easy for me to understand why they'd fall for each other, and fall quickly. They had so many problems to work through before they could be together, however, which may be why this story didn't feel like a typical insta-love plot to me. It actually took some work for Fiona and Eddie to get their HEA, and as a result, it felt incredibly well-deserved.
I have to comment on one (teeny, tiny) thing that bothered me as I was reading, though: Eddie's nickname for Fiona, which was "Fifi." I understand that it was just a shortening of her given name, but it didn't work for me at all. It was too cutesy for someone who tried as hard as Fiona did to cultivate a tough, rock-chick image. To me, the name Fifi sounds like it belongs to a poodle wearing a pink sweater and rhinestone collar, not a strong, independent, guitar-playing musician branded the Sin Girl. I cringed every time Eddie called her Fifi (especially at the end of the book when he did it in public!), and I really wish he would have come up with something better. (Again, this is a tiny, nitpicky detail, and just my personal pet peeve. I still loved the book!)
In any case, I have read and enjoyed a couple of books by Ember Leigh before (the Bayshore series), but they were on the "lighter" side (more romantic comedies). Now that I have also read one of Ms. Leigh's more "emotional" works, I can confirm that I am definitely a fan of her writing. I will certainly be reading whatever she writes next, and also plan to go back and read the earlier books in this series.

Both main characters are very likable. You really want them to both get their HEA. Both had multiple layers to their personalities that made the reading all that more enjoyable. There is hot insta chemistry between the two and rest is how they work out their struggles.

Breaking the Fall is the fifth book in The Breaking Series and tells the story of Eddie and Fiona. Even though this is the fifth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.
Breaking the Fall was yet another amazing book in The Breaking Series. So far, I’ve loved every book in the series, even every book I’ve read by Ember Leigh. She’s just such an amazing Romance author and she kills it every time!
Something that I really liked about Breaking the Fall, was that it’s the only book in the series (so far) that’s not about an MMA guy. Eddie is in the music industry, and he is such a sexy and such a loving man. He’s definitely one of my favourite book boyfriends! I also really liked Fiona. She’s been through a lot and she’s finally letting someone in.
Breaking the Fall was such a good book, I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know what was going to happen to the characters. Breaking the Fall is such an addictive and fast paced read! I cannot wait for the next book in The Breaking Series!
This was my first book by this author and I probably should have read the other books prior to this one because I was a bit confused about some of the characters. I honestly liked the writing by this author so I'll probably go through and read other books... but this book fell short for me. I took a chance on this book not knowing anything about it, I didn't even read the blurb.
Fiona is a big-time singer that gets a contract with a pretty big record company, and is about to go on tour. Before leaving on tour, Fiona does a gig at a club where her friend Riley, and all the other members from the previous books are at. Riley introduced Fiona to Eddie, and it's insta-love. Even though Fiona is the "Sin Girl", and absolutely does not do relationships. At. All.
Fiona and Eddie hook up for a couple days before she ghosts him and goes on tour. My problems with this, Fiona gives the impression that she is going to call Eddie and she acts inconsiderately about it. Not to mention, why would one ghost this man, especially knowing that you'll probably see him again because of his ties to her best friend.. doesn't quite make sense.
And thennnnn...
3 months later Fiona returns from her tour. Pregnant.
My least favorite thing to happen in a book. If it happens I usually tap out pretty quickly.
So at this point I start skimming... and then I was getting even more frustated..
The way Fiona treats Eddie is just disgusting to me. I get it. Fiona has issues, especially when it comes to men. But Eddie had done nothing to get this hot & cold act, except be a man. Fiona kept saying one thing but doing another. Her actions were leading Eddie on the whole time, and that is not OK.
Like I said, I liked the writing style so I'll probably pick up a book by this author again. Unfortunately, this was my first one to read.
I was given a copy of this book by netgalley for an honest review.
Wow-what a story, this book had me from the start to the end. I liked both of the main characters, Eddie Valenzuela and Fiona Frank. Fiona an up and coming singer in the business is finally starting to make it and is getting ready for her first big tour when the two of them meet. Eddie who has been around the music industry and books bands for clubs he works for knows she is a star when he hears hear sing the night they meet. Instantly attracted to each other they leave and spend the weekend together. Fiona is known as the “Sin Girl” is good for hookups but not a relationship, though everything feels different from Eddie she has a tour she needs to get to the airport for. Eddie sees her running around his apartment Monday morning knowing something has changed with her but she won’t talk to him. Wanting to make breakfast for her she tells him she has to run. He is wanting her cell number and she says she will write it down. She leaves and he feels like something is wrong. Looking around there is no number later he sees her at the airport with some actor hanging on her saying that they are a couple. Eddie works through his pain of losing her when she arrives back from her tour. She also as an extra special gift and the two of them must work together. Yes, she is still fighting Eddie on that as well, especially when he mentions the word family and wanting to be together. When everything comes crashing down around with her record label and others, she taught her friends she finds out who really are her true friends. She also finds therapy the only thing she needs to do now finds her love, Eddie. The end of the book and epilogue I would call it are really good. I found this to be a very good book and I liked all of the characters. I received this book from Netgalley.com I gave it 5 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com
I’ve been waiting for Eddie’s story since the first book. I wanted to see how this over protective older brother would handle falling in love. And I wasn’t disappointed!
Fiona ghosts Eddie after their one-night stand and goes out on tour as the rock chick “Sin Girl”. Three months later when the tour is over, Fiona fears are realized ... she’s pregnant with Eddie’s baby. Eddie is ecstatic that Fiona is back in his life and he couldn’t be happier that she’s carrying his baby. He is a born protector and now he’ll have his own family to look after. But it’s been drilled into Fiona since she was little that you can‘t rely on a man because once they get what they want from you, they leave. Will Fiona give Eddie a chance or will her instinct to run win?
I loved Eddie and Fiona’s story ... a little flip from the usual rock star story with Fiona being the rock star. And Eddie ... what a dream ... who wouldn’t want a strong, protector in their life? I love that Ms Leigh brings in the characters from previous books quite a bit ... it’s like their stories continue. A great addition to the series!

It's a long journey from Sin Girl to Loyal Girl: Fiona and Eddie have an instant attraction and connection but there is a problem. Fiona not only doesn't believe in relationships, but she is also contractually obligated to avoid them. She has portrayed herself as The Sin Girl but also personally has a lot of insecurities and is terrified of being rejected and hurt, so closes herself off. Thankfully Eddie is patient and persistent in his pursuit of Fiona. There was a lot of angst and drama and for the vast majority of the book the main characters were apart or unhappy. There were a few steamy moments but overall the tone of the book felt a bit too melancholic to me. I could empathize with Fiona having hurts that made trusting in love difficult, but I would have preferred a few more lighthearted and tender moments to break up all the angst. This is book 5 in the Breaking series but can definitely be read as a standalone. I had not read the prior books but was able to follow along without any difficulty. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
I guess I'm not sure what I expected from this story, but there were some impressive elements
1. Though this is part of a series, I didn't feel as if I was missing much by not being familiar with the other characters' stories in books #1-4. Plenty of times, books call themselves standalones, but the reader may feel as if they should've read the previous books to understand what's happening. It kind of ruins the reading experience when you jump midway into a book. I'm glad Ember Leigh figured out how to have another story exist in the universe she created without me feeling off-balance because of the lack of previous familiarity.
2. Even if the story is sort of formulaic, there were clear moments where you can see the author can write intelligently. There were some good turns of phrases that showed Ember Leigh has a poet's soul: "Fiona's voice weaved in and out of the music as though she was sewing the melody together."
Lastly, I wish I understood Spanish so I can comprehend the swoon-worthy murmurings from Eddie.
Eddie works in the live music industry scouting talent. Fiona, aka the Sin Girl, has a goal to make it big playing music and her hard work is paying off. During one wild night out, Eddie collides with Fiona and he knows she's better than good. The two spend one sizzling week together and Eddie believes he's found Mrs. Right. Until she disappears leaving zero contact information behind. A surprise pregnancy brings her back to Eddie and he is ready to step up for her, but she's not sure what she wants.
I loved this book. I especially loved what a good guy Eddie was. Fiona has issues stemming from her past, but once she begins to recognize that and take steps to deal with it, I really enjoyed her. The two were able to form a great relationship. This was my first book from Ember Leigh and I intend to read the rest!
Thanks to NetGalley ad the publisher for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Breaking the Fall is a story that at times will have your heart beating to the perfect melody and then have your soul drowning in the sorrowful tune of heartbreak. Eddie and Fiona are drawn to each other from the first moment as the chemistry between these two radiates and can be felt skin deep. However with outside pressure, old wounds and a surprise that they never expected can these two see their way to forever or will they fall short. Their story is mesmerizing, passionate, angsty and emotional. A story that will take you on a tour of twists and turns and up and downs. A captivating read that will inspire you to take a chance knowing that sometimes the prize of love far outweighs the risk of heartbreak. Eddie and Fiona's story ends with a truly beautiful epilogue that will have your heart and soul singing.
Ember never disappoints! This book #5 of the breaking series is so sweet! It still involves the Holt hunks but includes the friends of the Holt hunks but 😁
Eddie is the tallndarkband handsome, dimpled guy that is still searching for his Forever girl, his own family.
Fiona is the new up and coming Sin Girl that the music industry adores. Shes got the bad girl look down pat and loves life. Shes got her best friends and that's all she needs... intol her BFF Riley gets her set the perform and invites the Holt hunks!
Eddie and Fiona have instant chemistry, both know it but only one of them is fighting for it...
Love, love, love this story of passion, fear, confusion, and love! Ember writes beautifully and really engages her readers to FEEL everything...
From the first time that Eddie saw Fiona it was a case of lust, or perhaps it was love, at first sight. He is employed in the same field and is first drawn to her musical talent, but he is even more drawn to her as a woman. The chemistry between them ignites and has him thinking of a future until her career takes her away.
Fiona has worked so hard for the success that she has earned and can’t be distracted by a man despite how he makes her feel. When life throws them a curve ball will she have to choose between the career she has always wanted and the life they could have together?
Hot chemistry, great characters and all the feels as Eddie and Fiona learn that overcoming obstacles together only makes what they share that much stronger.
I am assuming this is the last book in this series.. We met Eddie in the first book he was Amara's brother and Amara's love interest Holt's best friend. He was also very protective of Amara and I liked him since then, because he came around..I have been waiting for his story and was surprised that All the other guys had gotten a story first but it is what it is, I think we got a nice ending to this crew, if it was the ending, I mean I am wondering what will happen with Amara and Holt desire to be parent? ahh..All in all I was happy Eddie met someone and got his happeness instead of just watching all of his friends pair up..enjoy!

You ever just know when you see a book or read the blurb that you are in for something special? I experienced it this book.
Fiona and Eddie are likable characters. Feeling all their moments as though they were happening to me. That spark is the reason I love romance stories. It gave me chills.
I've read a few of Ember's stories and they are unputdownable. You'll have your heart handed to you in pieces and all these incredible characters help put it together again.
Such a great story. My review won't do it justice but believe me, it's so worthy of your reading pleasure. I received an arc for an honest and voluntary review.
This is the first book of Ms. Leigh that I have read, and I cannot wait to read more! I absolutely fell in love with Fiona and Eddie. Fiona is an up and coming musician who's one night (weekend) stand with Eddie leaves her pregnant. While going on 2 international tours, Fiona will have to decide between her career and motherhood. The sassiness and no holds bar from Fiona as well as her vulnerabilities and insecurities made her relatable. Eddie's stubbornness and ethics made him irresistible. Fiona is Ying to Eddie's Yang. I did not realize that this was a series, but I anxiously look forward to reading all of te previous books. Thank you Netgalley for introducing me to a new author.
This is book five in the Breaking series. Fiona and Eddie are brought together by their love of music. That same love for music may also be what tears them apart. After a great week together, Fiona disappears but that week has changed her life forever. Will dreams be shattered or the beginnings of a HEA? A great story with characters that have face some challenges and make some.decisions that could effect their personal and.professional lives. Enjoy!

I first found this series with the third book, Breaking The Sinner, and loved it and since then I have also really liked Breaking The Habit. The author has carried on with this fifth book with Breaking The Fall. The author's writing and storytelling styles I really like as there are nuances to the characters and the way the story-line is developed. This is a great book and I would recommend the series to other readers.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
The attraction and chemistry between Fiona and Eddie is instantaneous. This is my first book by Ember and I liked it. Fiona is trying to make it in the music world, but one complication can derail that from coming true. Eddie is already in the music business, but is also ready for the love that his friends and sister has. Good book for my intro to Ember Leigh.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Fiona is a female music artists. Eddie had seen enough artists, when he ran into Fiona. The chemistry between them is intense hot and steamy with emotions that makes you want more. Thank you for allowing me to review your book.

Emotional and fascinating! This book is steamy and amazing and will push your boundaries and leave you breathless!
I loved everything about it - the characters, the plot, the emotion, the writing, and the ability that the author had to tell me a story - all of it had me wanting this book to go on and on.
The chemistry between the H and h is great plus their attitudes and events going on make the story even richer.
I received a copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
I absolutely fell head over heals for Eddie and Fiona! Their chemistry was palpable and their heat emanating off the pages! I loved how they were each other’s perfect half in every way! They competed one another in every way!
Fiona’s scars run deep and keep her running even when her heart tells her to stay! Eddie has never been more sure of anything in his life and he will do what he has too to show Fiona he’s not going to let her fall without catching her!
Breaking the Fall is possibly the final book in Ember Leigh’s Breaking series and readers finally get Eddie’s story. While I like the overall premise of this book, I did struggle a little with Fiona’s character. In fairness, she had many issues that needed professional intervention, but I also felt that Fiona made much more of some of these issues than was necessary. Overall, a decent story and a good wrap up with many of the original characters making an appearance.
OMG I was so excited when I found out this book was about Eddie. He is such a honest and loyal guy. Him and Fiona set the pages on fire from day one. I’m glad they finally “Fixed the Sink” and got it together. Ember Leigh is such a great author and knows how to pull a reader in from Page 1. I recommend her books to everyone.
I just knew I was going to love this book and it did not disappoint if you have read and enjoyed the rest of the series like I have then you will just love Eddie and Fiona's story these two are great characters and just so perfect for each other you cannot help but like and root for them. Their story had me hooked right from the start I would recommend this story.
Well the life in the spotlight was what she wanted even going so far as to put her personal feelings and the man she could not forget on the chopping table. But how far will she take it when a career ending unexpected twist shakes up her perfect life plan.
