Just no. What did I just read? How can you build up these quirky, sweet male characters and then take a left turn to sadism???? Like, I didn’t sign up for that shit based on the first book. It’d be different if that’s what the first book includes, and I knew what I was getting into. This book was recommended in a reverse harem group for male leads who were sweet. Uhh not after this book. The whole Devon, Sean, Sasha scene towards the end was also so fucking tacky. Oh your the one hurting her because you can’t understand why she likes to be hit?!? GTFOH with that. So unhealthy. I can’t read the next one.

Disappointing

I was really looking forward to this book. I finished the 1st one in A-day. This book really disappointed me. Sasha came across as very weak. And not in be sub Dom relationship. It was in that with in that relationship there was great betrayal and that was glossed over. Sasha needed this type of relationship to help her heal from what happened. But she had stated that the big problem was that she felt like a failure as a woman. And before they left for Russia they had information that could have helped her. And they didn't tell her. It seems like they knew that she was hurting knew that she needed to heal but they embrace the kink because they wanted it. And then when she found out she had that 1 moment where she had anger and then she just let it go. I legitimately cried because that trust was broken and I just feel like this completely glossed over. They absolutely treat her like a child and not in the fun sexy time way. I just found this entire book to be so sadly disappointing.

I purchased the whole series, I liked the first part of the book, not so much the second part. I don’t even think I like the characters anymore either. Sean was a total d-bag and I felt like the BDSM was really crass and disrespectful. It wasn’t “play” it was out there, the scene with Sean, Devon & Sascha ruined the book. I don’t think I’m reading the NextGen book as I don’t think I like Tin either. Love her other books & can’t wait for the rest of the Sinners & Filthy books.

Huge disappointment.

I gave the first book a four-star rating because it charmed me, had a great plot, and I loved the chemistry and character development of all six main characters.
With that being said, I had to give the sequel a much worse rating because it just did not fulfill my expectations that the first book set in place.
The first thing I absolutely hated was the BDSM aspect that appeared out of thin air, yes, Sean has always been one of the most dominating Men out of the five, but I've read plenty of amazing BDSM Books that actually represent this lifestyle the way it deserves, with consent, respect and boundaries.
All things missing in this sequel, like I said the sudden BDSM interest came unexpected, and I don't think it was portrayed the way it could have been. The added BDSM scenes seemed like an unnecessary plot filler that wasn't well thought through. It felt like someone who read or watched Fifty Shades of Grey and suddenly thought they knew what this community and lifestyle was all about.
So the BDSM plot was a miss for me. If you're actually looking for good representation, check out Cara Dee, Carly Marie or Onley James.
Onto the next thing that bugged me: the lying that led to Sasha's punishments, throughout the whole sequel the guys told her that she was not supposed to hide from them, to be honest and forthcoming. They punished her (with bad BDSM play scenes) for not eating and taking care of herself. BUT here's the plot twist, most of these guys lied to her and kept secrets that would have actually improved her mental state, after the miscarriage she blamed herself and felt weak, they could have easily told her that it wasn't an accident but actual assault to make her fall. They deliberately kept information to themselves and I still don't understand the why, she would have greatly appreciated knowing that she did not fail as a mother.
The other things I absolutely hated were these in the first book greatly written characters suddenly being dismissive or with Devon overly childish, to a point where it's just uncomfortable to think of him as a forty-something year old.
The last thing that really annoyed me was the sudden cancer story with sawyer, it just seemed so unnecessary and, just like the play scenes, just a plot filler that made no sense to these characters and their purpose.
Not to mention their work that I honestly couldn't keep up with and still don't really understand what all of them are doing all day.
Needless to say, I won't be reading any more books from this author because this book had way too many added plots that misrepresented certain lifestyles.

I appreciate part of the reason they have a reverse harem is because they all work so much and individually they’d make shit boyfriends. But what happens if or when they retire? They’re gonna drive her nuts.

Maybe it’s because I have a beautiful daughter and the thought of losing her is inexplicable. But goddam this is sad. I hate that anyone blames themselves but it’s unavoidable even if it was the most unfortunate accident. This is depressing.

Jaysus every time her and Sawyer interact I cry.

It’s funny how taken aback she was when Devon called her kitten. Didn’t she ever find out that that’s what Andrei’s been calling her the whole time?

After reading the first book I wanted to know more about Sean. Unfortunately the more I know the less I like him. I understand he’s in pain but the mist of his interactions with Sascha are either ‘playing’ or he’s keeping shit from her. This story is leaning towards chauvinism and it’s pissing me off.

I especially appreciate Kurt this time around. I love how he wants her to edit her work. I think more then any other guy, he sees her worth. I think all 5 respect her and I by no means believe they consider her anything less then themselves.

I just think the whole bdsm is rubbing me the wrong way. And I have nothing against it but I do believe 3 doms to 1 sub does not make for good math. It’s too much and I think it does come off as a little disrespectful at times.

Which in turn made me appreciate Devon more when he told the guys how he felt. How they’re behavior reminds him of his father. I think the 3 guys handled that particular situation wrong by getting angry and not to understanding where he’s coming from. Hell, Devon even said he knew that It was totally consensual.

I don’t understand that they can’t comprehend her jealousy. Especially after that press party. Who gives a shit if he’s not interested, you still don’t allow that to happen. Oh I’m sorry, I don’t want the guy but I let him rub his dick all over me. Is that not ok? I’m pretty sure that would piss them off.

Wild & Heartbreaking Ride

Damn….Book 2 is just as heart wrenching and heartwarming as Book 1. We continue their amazing story a few years in the future. They now have a son and Sascha is pregnant with their second child. Life has fallen into a nice routine and her men are with her every step of the way.

However, tragedy strikes and their world is turned upside down. This is an intense and gut wrenching loss for them and you will feel their sorrow and hurt deep in your souls. They all deal with this tragedy differently and it takes everyone working together to make it out the other side. There are secrets, betrayal, heartache, lust, dominance, kink, sexiness, and lots of love between these amazing men and the woman who owns them.

This is another amazing book from Serena and you will run to read the final installment of this epic RH where anything can happen and who knows how all of this will play out. Happy Reading!!

Audiobook Review:

I am just in awe of Serena Akeroyd´s writing. She paints such great visuals with her words, which are only enhanced by the narrators’ incredible performances.

THEIRS TO CHERISH starts with a HOT bang but be prepared for some heartbreak ahead. I was so engrossed in the continuation of their story that it was difficult to take a break in-between. Sascha’s, Sean’s, Kurt’s, Andrei’s, Sawyer´s and Devon’s story fascinates me. I have been pulled into their world from the beginning and been through all their emotions with them. This story is so beautifully written, and Serena gives us all the steam, sorrow, mystery, crime, suspense, heartbreak, unconditional love all wrapped in unexpected twists. I loved how all 6 of them stick together, understand each other and are strong as a unit to try to get over their mutual heartbreak and the challenges thrown at them.

Again, Hollie Jackson and Shane East deliver to perfection. All these different accents, tones, emotions, a lot of them in one scene must have been challenging but they are incredible portraying each character with the same passion and giving their personalities life down to the kid voice. Outstanding!

This seriously is a written and aural experience not to be missed. There is so much beauty to this story, real emotions, heart-warming & heart-breaking moments, it has you on edge and is tastefully erotic. This series has my recommendation. Theirs To Cherish ends on a little cliffy, so I am excited to listen to the conclusion in Hers to Hold.

I have a lot to say

What I have to say about this book is a lot. When I saw the reviews on this book I was scared I liked the first one and I love a marriage in trouble book so I didn't see the issue. Then I finished this one and I understand that some may have not liked it. But here I am is going to tell people why you should read it. Sacha goes through a such horrible experience and is left with some trauma. I like how we now go in depth in the trauma of everyone's pass. Especially Devon. There might be slight spoilers ahead. Nothing too crazy. Devon's mom was killed by his dad. And was beat often. So when Sacha wants to explore BDSM because she finds something's her fault he reacts. Now everyone is hating her for her liking that and not considering his feelings. Spoiler: She has a misscairge. So Sasha always puts Devon first because of his mental state so when he freaks it's a big deal. But what she says is over and over is that she and Sean needs it. This book was really great at showing everyones trauma in kinda crazy way. Like for Sean being out of control. I believe that each and everybody used there trauma in a different way and it was interpreted wrong by others. 4/5 stars. Read it. I loved it. TW: Miscarriage

A lot of Drama in this one

Now I am all about RHs. I love the variety of men and the capacity of the woman’s love to love and cherish each of the men. This book was amazing. It takes place a couple of years after the first one and I have no major complaints. It dealt with a lot of hard topics like miscarriage and cheating. I felt like this book was all about the drama though. The characters went 2 years drama free together and then it was drama left right and center. I enjoyed the book especially meeting their child Tin. The smutt was lacking and that is okay. I enjoyed this book but there were some parts that were hard to digest with everything they went through and continue having to go through to be together. I listened to this book on Audible and like always I have no complaints about the narrators I thought they were fantastic.

disappointed

I read the first book in one day. Was looking forward to this book. But it went south so quickly. Went from a loving reverse harem. To a Dom beating relationship. Could not finish. Author should be ashamed of how she turned 3 of the men into monsters.

3.5 stars

The first five books in the Quintessence series (also packaged together as “Hers to Keep”) were about Sascha meeting the guys and trying to figure out who was trying to kill her.

In this omnibus of books 6-9, we jump about four years into the future. They have a child together (Tin) and another on the way.

Throughout this plot arc they face many tragedies and enemies, making this set of books very emotionally heavy. Where the first plot arc centered around Sascha physically healing after being hit by a car, this set is all about her (and the guys) emotionally healing.

I didn’t love how heavy these were. I was hoping for this set of books to be on the lighter side. I still enjoyed them, but didn’t love that about them.

I also thought the absence of her father (especially during such trying times) was really weird, especially after their reconciliation at the end of book 5 (“Loved by Them”).

Overall it was good. I like this harem for the most part, except for maybe Devon who drives me a bit nuts. I don’t see his appeal. But it was also very very emotionally heavy. Just not what I was expecting. But I’m looking forward to the last book and hope they have a good HEA.

4 stars - The books series started with undeniable heartbreak. Sascha has had a child, Tin, since the last series and is pregnant with her second child. Her five men, Devon, Sean, Andrei, Sawyer and Kirt are as quirky as ever. It’s very cute to read how these 5 men each behave differently as fathers.

But with the heartbreak that happens in the first part of this book not much “action” understandably took place in the first book in this series because everyone was dealing grief in a believable, relatable and understandable way. Reading it, you bled and hurt with this unique family.

This was an really interesting book series to see how a relationship of 6 people deal with Grief and the inevitable guilt that comes with it. How other members of the extended family help deal with that grief in different ways or don’t depending on their dynamic.

It was also good to see how it explored kinks previously not looked at in the previous series. Each one of Saschas lovers need a different thing in a relationship, how each person needs love, and how it’s to be expressed, differently. I also love that they deal with BDSM vs Abuse. Which is dealt with in an honest way as it’s complicated and beautifully done - primarily with consent and trust.

It deals also with the hard part of a relationships like this and the inability to be in the public eye. Relationships are complicated at the best of times but having 5 partners can have serious draw backs. Add to that these 6 characters are in the public eye a lot for different reasons and it makes it harder because paparazzi and reporters want to expose this unusual relationship.

What I can say is you’ll want the final book to be out BEFORE reading this series. I wanna know what happens next so bad... and now I have to wait!!!

Final note: I do love that there is a crossover with one of the other series by the same author. It was cool to see. I’ve not read them but this book makes me want to read it.

I continue to thoroughly enjoy this story. This boxset is written with four of the five men in Sascha’s life leading the narrative. I felt that the storyline flowed well throughout the different parts. I loved learning more about our leading men and I really hope that we get more of Devon in future releases. We know some of his back story but as he is my favourite, I’ll always want more.

The relationships between Sascha and her men have been working perfectly, that is until certain events ultimately change the dynamics of the family and they all find themselves coping in their different ways which inevitably upsets the status quo that they have always had. It was wonderful to witness the scene with Sascha, Devon and Sean towards the end of Sean’s part in this story. I am enjoying seeing the effect that Sascha is having on Devon, and that she understands what he needs and ensures those needs are met. They all look out for him, don’t get me wrong, however during one particular scene it was wonderful to watch Devon express his own feelings and concerns rather than the others anticipate them.

I absolutely adore seeing Vasily with Andrei, Sascha and Tin. I know this man’s position in the world and what he has done and even though retired continues to do. However, I love seeing the side to him that he shares with his family. I love that he helps when he can too.

There is lots of drama happening in this section of the storyline, and some very sad scenes that broke my heart. I do feel that the sex throughout has been written in tune with the storyline. There hasn’t been too much nor too little, it is just right in my opinion. I love witnessing the different relationships and friendships. I have loved seeing the reactions to and from those on the outside of their family. I need to know if there is more about Perry, Edward, George and Xavier via a spin off story, or maybe all will be explained further during the stay in Veronia - fingers crossed!

**IMPORTANT**: So, I feel this is a MAJOR overlook on the author's part. It could be in the beginning of the book somewhere, but my Kindle takes me to chapter 1 of the book. It skips the intro, usually. In this description on Amazon, it should REALLY state that there's a pregnancy loss in this book. Yes, it spoils a bit of the book, but it happens really early on and is an important part of the rest of it. I was blindsided by it, personally. Thankfully, it isn't a trigger for me, but I used to be really sensitive about pregnancies and complications, and it probably would have hit me harder a few years ago. I've seen other readers have this trigger warning when searching for books, so I feel it should be highlighted a lot more to be safe.

That aside! Wow. This book has SO many twists in it. It was a little faster paced than the first book, which I liked. This story takes place a few years in the future from the first book. They've got a little 2 year old who's clearly got smarts like his daddies and is very advanced for his age. Kurt has finished his books, Sawyer and Devon have a system that could possibly fix economies, Andrei is doing fantastic as an economist, and Sean is still working on cases as a criminologist. Things aren't easy on them all, though. Something happens to Sascha causing a miscarriage, which gives her a pretty bad case of depression after while she figures out how to carry on with her life and grieve while also taking care of the household. Sean is working a bad case that's really getting to him. Most of them just get to the point of trying to tread water at a point.

Near the end of the book, a few things are cleared up, and things start to look better for our group. They become tense, however, when Sascha feels some of them aren't taking her feelings seriously, and I don't know how she doesn't absolutely lose it on them. Before she can, they get yet another blow. They just can't catch a break, can they?

Sasha and her men

The ups and downs of life have caught up to Sasha, Andrei, Kurt, Sawyer, Sean, and Devon. With Tin and another on the way you think things are happily ever after, but life tends to throw stones when we least expect it and there is no doubt that their family has been rattled. The grief Sasha is feeling is tearing her up inside and what are her men to do if she wont talk about it, well how about some rules. Of course rules are made to be broken, well atleast Sasha loves to break them sometimes, better for punishment if you catch my drift.

*spoilers*

Devon has been arrested.
Kurt's book is being made into a movie.
Sean is wrapped up in a case with children being murdered.
Andrei makes a call to his grandfather for help with Devons case.
And Sawyer isn't handling how Sasha is doing.
All of these things we can see going on in our lives at points and times, so be prepared to be pulled in by the heart strings. You will laugh, fall in love with the characters, and more then likely cry. (I know I did)
But most importantly you will be drawn into the world of Sasha and her men and not loving outside the pages of the book. Honestly what more could you ask for from a book? Go ahead one click this contemporary book and live in Sasha's shoes.

Emotionally jarring in a Beautiful Way

I read these books when they were originally published and I don't normally reread books, but this story is one I will read a million times. The second installment in the Quintessence rerelease is just breathtaking. The emotional roller coaster that Serena takes you on is emotionally jarring, but in a beautiful way. Serena puts her all into the stories she creates and it is beyond evident! She researches every tiny detail she puts in her books so the emotions she portrays are so real. The characters are so incredibly lifelike that you just want to call them up on the phone after reading and chat with them about everything you just read about their lives. You sympathize (and sometimes even empathize) with each one of these characters that you just get sucked in. The fact that I was just as sucked in the second time around as I was the first, should be all the review necessary.

This part starts off with a crazy hot scene. And morphes into tragedy.

I wasn't keen on tragedy being not accident and it took me into an eye roll plot I didn't enjoy.

I think bit too much was constantly happening, and it wasn't small happenings. Life happens constantly but throw into Russian mafia and torture, it's just way too OTT.

Although Andrei's PA was an interesting twist there and I would have enjoyed it bit more if that previous plot wouldn't have happened.

But in a positive nore, love all the guys. We got more insight on them. Sawyer and his mothers bantering were so funny, and throw Devon into them and you have crazy house.

Finally we got to know more about Sean. He was pretty background most of the books although he was the center of this series, but we didn't know anything about him and his wants etc. Last book made him definitely my favorite. But love all the guys!

Excellent way to read about Sasha's men

I originally read these books in the box sets and I found it much easier to follow the storylines and the way everything happened.
The story's flowed seamlessly from one man to the other and then on to Veronia, which made more sense to me this time around having read about Perry and her men prior to this book rather than after the way I did originally.
The only one of the quintet that wasn't in this book was Devon, which lead me to do all of the books again to refresh my memory.
Serena Akeroyd continues to amaze me with her writing style and how seamlessly everything flows.

This story was Awesome, as always! I am always happy to read more about Sacha, Devon, Sawyer, Andrei, Kurt and Sean.
I really enjoyed reading this and getting to know the boys back stories a bit better along the way. This book had a few moments where it brought me to my knees. I cried real tears, laughed so hard that my stomach hurt and sat on the edge of my seat when times were tense. These books are more than just a story, they are another world. A world you root for and get invested in because the people you read feel so real that you can't help yourself. That is the sign of a great book and an exceptional author.
As always I am so glad you brought this world to life and i can't wait to see what you do with it next.

This is an RH book and I would recommend it for a mature audience. There may be some triggers in it.

Book 3 here we come!

First and foremost, can’t Sascha get a break?! No spoilers here but lord help me. Medium cliffhanger ending. This special family continues to navigate their unique relationship and the diverse world it exists in because of the circumstances around every member of the group.

I LOVE the new characters introduced and there is something about a “retired” Pakhan that makes me want to hug and squeeze him. On to book 3, I need to know what happens next.

Please read the trigger warnings. References to losing a baby, stalking, blackmail, etc.

I’m addicted to these characters and their story the second part of this series doesn’t disappoint. Everything you loved that was in Hers To Keep is still there and just so much better. The romance story continues, the twists and turns that capture your attention drive the plot forward, and it’s a great example of Serena’s brilliance.

Deepening of the ties that bind

This series is truly a love story of the most beautiful kind. It doesn’t just focus on the blush of new love, passion and lust, then rest on the lighthearted newness. This series pushes strife, pain and pressure that longer relationships must endure. Few relationships are free of struggle and many break when put to the fire. This book is a darker one for the pain survived but the bonds grow iron clad. Triggers violence, physical assault, miscarriage.

Okay, wow. I’m mind blown over this next book. Seriously...you get so deeply involved in the lives of the characters that you are exhausted when they are, excited and exhilarated, heartbroken, furious and able to laugh along with them as well. I find myself reading a page over again just to make sure I didn’t miss a subtle nuance that might end up being important a few pages later. There were heartbreaking moments as well as shocking discoveries. I do t want it to end. This is the kind of series you get so caught up in, you forget your own life exists and get swept away.

Good Book

Well the 💩 has hit the fan at the end of this book with that cliffhanger.
It’s another good storyline linking the issue in Glasgow with you know who and then being in Russia just deserts being issued.
I’m still in love with these 5 men they are soooo dreamy and how they are with Tin is just too cute.
It’s 05:15 in UK but I just had to finish this book so will start on the 3rd one later today after I get a few hours sleep.
Also good to see the end of the book offers the Veronia story from the palace.

Love like know other

This book trilogy will keep you reading for sure. Yes, it is a reverse harem but more importantly it is a love story. One of accepting people and loving them for really who they are and no judgements, which is really hard in our world today. Sascha is one that loves 5 men and they accept them fully as they are because together they are stronger than apart. This story truly will have you turning the pages till the ending of the last book. The trilogy has a beautiful conclusion as well.

I am loving these books! The books are full-out romances, not short, quick, insta-love novels. These are detailed with activities and dramas in the life of a woman trying to live w five international loves... The personalities are all laid out there so you can try to understand each one. I love these books! There’s one more. I’m off to get it. I’m not ready to leave this world... I want to know what happens next...
