The first official chapter book series based on Minecraft!
The adventures continue in the third official Minecraft chapter book based on one of the most popular video games of all time. As Ash, Morgan, and three of their fellow Minecraft players, who can actually enter the game, take a deep dive into the Aquatic biome, they find a world filled with beauty and wonder. A treasure map promises adventure and the opportunity to explore--but it could also be a trap set by the mysterious Evoker King. With air running low, will they survive to find out?
Nick Eliopulos was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where he grew up on a steady diet of super-hero comics and “non-fiction” books about alien abductions, psychic phenomena, and Sasquatch. He was fortunate to have parents and teachers who encouraged his off-beat reading habits, which ultimately led him to pursue a degree in cultural studies at the University of Florida.
Shortly after graduating, Nick moved to New York to work in publishing. In the course of his thirteen-year career as a children’s book editor, he had the opportunity to write for a number of licensed properties, from Thomas the Tank Engine to DC Super Friends and Scholastic’s New York Times bestselling multiplatform series Spirit Animals. His original comics work has appeared in anthologies Stuck in the Middle and First Kiss (Then Tell).
Nick’s debut novel, The Adventurers Guild, will be published by Hyperion in October 2017. Co-authored with his best friend Zack Loran Clark, the book is heavily inspired by the duo’s collaborative storytelling experiences with tabletop role-playing games; they’ve been in the same weekly gaming group for nearly a decade.
Nick lives in Brooklyn with his husband, a fellow editor, author, and Southern transplant. He’s currently employed as a narrative designer for an indie video game studio. He still reads super-hero comics and harbors an ever-dwindling hope that Sasquatch might be out there.
Children's realistic fiction/ adventure. This is the 3rd in series, and I have not read the first two. We were able to generally follow the story (as much as possible for me not being familiar with Minecraft) though I imagine the characters would be easier to keep apart having read them. I will say I had low expectations for this book, but actually enjoyed it. Five friends have special Minecraft headsets from their science teacher. They seem to play minecraft with said headsets in the computer lab after school, but that bit is a little foggy. Once in the virtual world, they find a treasure map. Unsure of whether it is authentic or a trap, they nonetheless decide to follow the map. They get to see Minecraft sea turtles hatch, escape all sorts of villains, and work together as a team. In the real world they are working on a science project to regrow coral and are dismayed when a new trend emerges of people at their school wearing actual coral in jewelry. With a small cliffhanger ending that clearly leads to book 4, this was a fun read with my Minecraft-interested (not yet playing) son. Partial page black and white illustrations on most pages break up the text.
🥽Yesterday we finished the 3rd installment of the Minecraft series and this edition was called Deep Dive.
🥽The intrepid 5 are now well on their way to solving the mystery behind who has the missing 6th headset and in this story they are plunged into the underwater ocean world to find a monument which houses zombie piglins. (If you are a minecraft expert then you will understand everything Edward has just told you?!)
🥽They deep dive into the nether to continue looking for the Evoker King but instead find a replica of their school. Who has made this?
🥽Things keep happening within the school and strange mysteries are unfolding in their AI world and it has certainly keeping myself and Edward guessing as to who it is.
🥽There is not much progression to the story this time but Edward believes this is gearing it up to a spectacular finale.
Book number 3 is now finished and it's still the boys favourite choice of bedtime story series, that's a win x This had a strong treasure hunt mixed with a save the oceans/environment theme that they engaged with really well as it's what they've been interested in but admittedly, it's a book I also dont mind reading to them. It's simple, theres always something going on and the idea of being transported into a game is really appealing to me, I like the idea although I found it to be a little slower than the previous books in the series
When it comes to “fluffy” children’s chapter books, this was a better one. There were opportunities to talk about not excluding friends, helping the environment, creative problem solving, teamwork, and choosing to be responsible and do homework instead of staying up late playing video games ;) The friends in this book are positive influences. We’re looking forward to reading another in this series.
This is a cute book, great way for kids to learn the negative and positive impact that even small actions can make while they have fun reading about the Minecraft universe.
The six-year-old I read it to would give it 5 stars for sure!
Hi I am actually Dave’s son I got recommend this book by kindle and since reading the first one I eagerly waited for the second and third book in this series.
For any bookworm/Minecraft lover this is a must have book.
Not terribly written for the target audience. Good message. Decent plot and dialogue. The multiple font types drives my old butt insane, but I bet the kids like it. We will read the whole 6 book series in the school drop off line. We mistakenly started with #3. Girls liked it.
I really enjoyed the message about environmental conservation in this edition of the series. I like that the main characters are learning important lessons while also enjoying their time in Minecraft and applying conservations/experiences to their real lives.
I've started to noticed that each of these books has a message about helping/saving the environment. I really like that. We can't wait to read book #4.
This is a great series of easy-reader chapter books for kids. Short chapters with lots of fun cliffhangers and good characters that are kind to each other through mini-mysteries to solve.
3.5 These books are good. The characters are fun and I appreciate how they solve problems (both in-game and in their real life) with science and experimentation.
Eu amei o livro pois eles foram para o nether ,por mais que eu não tenha visto nada dentro mesmo assim e amei , a e também que eu tava toda hora ti "meu Deus como que isso aconteceu "kkkkkk
