Winter and Haze have moved to Canada and, because her mum is a raging bitch, have to find an apartment very quickly. Which they do. But they also find themselves hosting Will and Kendrick who just turned up without warning.
Everything is going unusually well for our lovebirds, except that Haze just.cannot.stop.lying. Every time he does, he knows it’s the thing that could break them for good. And yet he does it anyways.
And Winter? Well, clearly she’s perfect for Haze because she.just.cannot.stop.forgiving him. And taking him back. Oh she makes him swear to never lie again, but guess what? He does. And she forgives him again and again.
But when she finally stands up for herself, and Haze finally realised that she deserves better, will it be the end of them for good?
I think this was the best of the trilogy as I have fewer negative points. I feel bad that I focussed so much on the negatives in these reviews but they’re what held my attention unfortunately.
I adored Winter’s family (except her mum of course), but especially her stepdad, Harry. What a wonderful, caring soul he was.
The chemistry between Winter and Haze was still as palpable as ever. And although he kept fucking up over and over 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 again - and she kept allowing him to - I was still rooting for them, hard. I mean it got to a point where I was cursing that this book better have an HEA! Because it really didn’t feel like it would for a good while at the end.
Haze’s letter had me in tears. Actual tears with a genuine lump in my throat! But Winter’s reaction to it was surprising, refreshing, and heartbreaking all in one.
I’d still like to know how The Organisation found out that Winter knew. And how they would’ve known that he told her about them if he hadn’t decided to keep lying to her. I mean it just seemed like an odd request that, in reality, they should never have been able to verify.
Again, there was some questionable terminology in the book, like cigarette butt holder instead of ashtray, but they were few and far between so didn’t detract from the story too much.
I very much guessed the final shock reveal much earlier in the story but it was still an interesting connection.
Also, a really small point, but the covers don’t really match the tone of the books. The suggest light-hearted romcoms…but these books are neither of those things.
