Jill Cox, you hit this one out of the park!! The story would never have been complete had we not gotten Pete’s point of view. I especially love that it is written as a journal/letter to Meredith. So many questions I had from THE BRIDGE and THE LONG WALK are answered in DEAR SULLY. I am really going to miss these two and can only imagine their lives after these three books.

Miss Shirley: did it ever occur to you that I actually am Gilbert Blythe?

ALL the heart eyes for Pete Russell!

This is a romance for romantics. Although a contemporary novel, it’s steeped in old-fashioned sepia, echoing the love story of Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe with a few gorgeous dance numbers by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

If you’re interested in this lovely story, PLEASE read the trilogy in this order:

1. The Bridge
2. The Long Walk
3. Dear Sully

What a charming and redemptive book for Pete! After not liking him much, I was able to learn the methods to his madness, so to speak. Pete loved Meredith from the beginning, he just had to take the long road to get to her. I missed Meredith’s voice, so I was glad there were a couple of letters from her in the book. I also learned to like Brooks. I didn’t think that possible. A terrific ending to a “tragical” love story!

What a unique and perfectly lovely way to finish the series. Of course, I hope it’s NOT the end of the series, as I love the characters so much. Well done Jill, we’ll done!

Such a bittersweet moment, knowing this is the last book! That was one reason why it took me longer to finish it, I really wanted to savor each story/letter. It was hard to remember every detail since it had been awhile since I read “The Long Walk” and even longer for “The Bridge”. But the magic that is Pete and Meredith was still there and I loved revisiting past events through the eyes of Pete. I’m just so happy my library was able to order it.

This is the book I've been waiting for. Finally, we get to read Pete's side of the story. This guy has taken readers and Meredith on a roller coaster ride. As much as he charmed me in The Bridge, by the time I finished The Long Walk, I was kind of wishing Meredith hadn't forgiven him so easily. But seeing Meredith and their story through his eyes has helped redeem him for me.

Dear Sully takes a look at the ways grief and tragedy can impact a life, especially when a person does not take the time to process their emotions. It proves the importance of dealing with the difficult things in life instead of hiding or running from them, because until we do, we will never be free. I loved Pete's voice and writing style. Jill Cox did a great job matching his personality with his writing style. A great finish to a wonderful trilogy. And now I want to re-read the first two books alongside Dear Sully to get the whole picture.

I started the new year rereading The Bridge and The Long Walk as a refresher before I finished the trilogy with Pete’s side of the story in Dear Sully. I loved all three and especially seeing the story from the other side. What a great lesson that there are two sides to every story and we never know what someone is going through.

These books are a great, fun, clean romance. I love the characters, the romance, the world travel. They have become friends and I am sad to see them go.

Jill, it is now time for book four, the story of Dan and Ann! Dan is one of my favorites. Everyone needs a friend like Dan!

I think this book is definitely either tied with the Bridge for being my favorite book from the Bridge series, or it’s my favorite book in the series, I can’t decide. Either way, this book always has me giggling like a schoolgirl and kicking my feet because it is SO SWEET AND ROMANTIC. 🤭 I mean, who wouldn’t love reading the story from Pete’s point of view in the form of a bunch of love letters to Meredith????? MY HEART. Plus, the humor in this book is always a bonus. In my opinion, one of the best parts about Pete and Meredith’s relationship is their ability to match each other’s wit and make each other laugh (and make me laugh too. OUT LOUD.). THEY KNOW EACH OTHER SO WELL, I CAN’T HANDLE IT. Ok I think I’m finished.

But also, I want so badly to see Pete and Meredith as parents, that’s truly the sweetest thing ever. 😭😭😭

#2 and #3 in one day… I’m officially in love with these books. I loved reading the other perspective and remembering that the way I see life and relationships and conversations is only half of the story. Gives me more grace for others I think. Such a sweet book that will live rent free in my head for a long long time.

I loved to get the story of the last two books from Pete’s perspective. It was beautiful to see current Pete facing his past and finally opening up. I needed this book. I needed to witness Pete’s healing and growth. I wasn’t ready to part with these characters (more like friends). The ending was absolutely perfect. I’ve gone back and read it again and again. It is hard to describe how much these books touched my heart. But they did. And I will continue to cherish them.

You have to read the first two books in the series or this won't make sense. It's not as good as the first two, but I don't think it's supposed to be. It's Pete's backstory and gives nice insight to why he does what he does, and when he does it. It's his voice that drives the 4 stars.
