Travis Thompson’s past haunts him. When an assignment went bad, fate was a cruel beast and took the man he thought he’d spend forever with. Now he has to live with the guilt that he couldn’t save the man he loved. A year later, when their team loses another member, he’s finished and knows it’s time to move on. But where does that leave him?
Alejandro Lopez has been hardened by life. He lost his family because of who he is, and he’s never fully been able to accept that. He’s used that resentment toward his parents to ensure he’s succeeded at everything he’s done since. But the only thing he’s failed at is love. He can’t seem to get that right.
Can a man with guilt that runs so deep it shuts him down at times ever let another in? Can a man that can’t quite let someone in for fear of rejection be the one to heal him?
Healing My Amor is the sixth book in the Sulfur Springs series. This is a Men of Crooked Bend spin-off and takes you off of the ranch and into the lives of those in Sulfur Springs. While each book will focus on a different couple, you should read them in order for the most enjoyment. Each book contains sexually explicit material between two men and is intended for adults over 18.
Two men, both haunted for different reasons, find comfort and love ! This is a wonderful M/M romance with an exciting, interesting story, and fabulous characters. Book 6, they can stand alone, but I'm glad I can know all of the characters and where they fit in. * In this story, we have U.S. Marshall Alejandro, 42, who was kicked out at 17, so he has no family. He and his partner Kirk, got clues in the horse stealing case so the conviction will stick. * Ex-military, EMT, Travis, 28, lost his love in Kenya, Africa, then was shot on a bungled case in the jungle for his family's security business. He'll be leaving his close knit family in California; moving to Sulfer Springs with his cousin, Daniel, who will be staring a K-9 Training business. * Travis and Alejandro meet, and they are both moving into town, meeting people, figuring out their decisions. Their attraction is immediate, but it took awhile to actually date. Neither man has ever felt this strong connection.
* These men deserve happiness, and you'll hear their stories told, as they build a relationship. Alejandro/Alex and work partner, Kirk are working with Adrian and Bishop to unravel the horse/money laundering caper. Travis checks out what certification is needed for a Wyoming EMT, and will work as a dog trainer for Daniel.
The case is intense, and Travis is in physical therapy for his shoulder, plus getting mental therapy help for his guilt issues, like losing Jay, and his Mom. When they get to sexy times, it's hot and spicy, as both will top or bottom. I loved the Spanish Alejandro spoke during their sexy encounters.
I love this series so much, and Taylor Ryan knows her characters well. It's like there is two stories, because of the horses the Marshalls are investigating, and the family business issues that led to Travis being shot. The epilogue is marvelous and soon we will have Daniel and Kirk's tale. ENJOY !
The sixth book in Taylor Rylan’s Silver Springs series, Healing My Amor is the story of Travis and Alejandro. Ms. Rylan doesn’t pull her punches with this one, and gives us some very emotional moments. The opening scene is action packed, and very moving.
Michael Dean performs the audio version of Healing My Amor and puts every bit of feeling possible into Travis’ grieving. He does an interesting voice for Alejandro, one I haven’t heard from him before, and it works well for the Spanish phrases in the story.
an audio book copy of Healing my Amor was provided to me for the purpose of my honest review
Taylor Rylan, you owe me a box of tissues!! By the time I finished reading this marvelous, fantastic, grab-you-by-the-feels, raw, gritty, gripping, intense, poignant, emotionally charged, heartbreaking yet ultimately hopeful, amazing, run my heart through the grinder a few times, she'd tears of both sadness and joy, beautiful, and totally awesome tale, I felt like I had run a marathon. At times, I thought that it would take a miracle for Travis and Alejandro to have any chance at a HEA ending, but you pulled it off with style. It was a fabulous addition to the Sulfur Spring series, and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Another instalment in a good series (an audio review)
Taylor Rylan’s Sulfur Springs series follows The Men of Crooked Bend series. Sometimes when you have that many books it can be a little confusing. So many men whose stories interconnect. Now, I love series, and I adore catching up with previous couples and seeing how they are doing. I’ve been listening to the Sulfur Springs series having missed only one book. The series has meandered a bit and this book brings back characters from book 1. It took me a bit of time to reorient myself and figure out how Travis fits into the whole series. I did eventually get it, and I liked that he was paired with a newer character who was fresh in my mind.
All that being said, this book, as with other of Ms. Rylan’s books, begins with a bang and an emotional gut punch. There’s no easing into this story as we’re in the middle of a mission with a group of mercenaries who are trying to take down a sex trafficking ring. Travis is the medic in the group, tasked with keeping everyone safe. When things go sideways, he’s devastated at the powerlessness he encounters. Bullets can do great damage, and he’s also injured. He arrives Stateside and decides he’s done. This is the second loss he’s endured. The second person he wasn’t able to save. Living with the memories is becoming too much to bear. In an effort to outrun his past, he visits Wyoming, quickly realizing this is where he wants to make a new life for himself.
Alejandro was introduced in the book before the last and one he was enigmatic at best. I don’t remember getting the impression he was gay, but he is and when he meets Travis, he’s intrigued. Neither man feels ready for a serious relationship, but there is definite attraction. Before things really get started, Travis has to return to California to tie up loose ends, including confronting the brother who put him in danger. He also has to reconcile his life before and his life now. I liked that he was able to reach out and ask for help – many people are hesitant, believing they can white-knuckle through PTSD and devastating loss. I also liked that there were no simple answers.
Travis has to reconcile the loss of the love of his life while Alejandro has to reconcile the loss of his family for being gay. He was abandoned and has had to forge a life for himself. He’s successful, but holds himself back from falling in love. Until he meets Travis.
I wish this book had been longer because the two men only get together closer to the end and it felt rushed. I wanted more time for them to get to know each other. Yes, they were dealing each dealing with issues and were willing to help each other out, but I just felt more time would have been worthwhile. I mean, they spent much of the book apart. Did it detract from the book? Not necessarily. Just an observation. What I’m trying to say is I enjoyed this book but it wasn’t my favorite in the series. Do I hope there are more? Yep. Someone very close to Alejandro revealed the fact he’s gay and it seems there might be something developing between him and someone in Travis’ life. Would that give me a chance to revisit this couple? I suspect so.
Michael Dean narrates this series and I honestly believe he’s the perfect choice. He manages to keep the characters straight, giving them all a distinctive voice. He also gives Alejandro a slight accent and that fits with the character. As always, he delivers a great performance. I await the next book with enthusiasm.
5 stars 🎧 Narrated by Michael Dean ❤ And beautifully voiced with the use of different characters. Mr Dean is one of favourite narrators with audio books. The humour and the sadness comes across and adds to the fantastic book. 📕 5 stars... ❤ A great start as action and dramas scenes begin in the story. This is written with a tale of sadness and a journey to begin to love again. Travis had seen his love die but has never gotten over his death tragically taken from him. But other dramas happens and past guilt takes him to breaking point to ask for help. A new love interest and a new location Travis meets Anjordo. A lot happens in the book that kept me reading and listening. All the charactors are fantastic including the added investigation that has Anjondro team working hard to solve. I love this series so far after reading all up to this point they certianly are emotional stories which i love. The ending is just beautful and nearly had me in tears especially with the coin mystery.
Travis 28 a medic of the team as Stelth Securities his brothers company and their mission in the jungle. Then hell happened.
Anjondro 42 was trying to solve a case in Sulfur Springs and was now new to the area due to his ex-boss..
A nice story, although, to be honest, I never manage to really connect with the characters nor their conflict. And Michael Dean's narration didn't help at all, as I really, really didn't like it. I'm fairly sure he used to be Michael Pauley *shrugs*
All in all, this is a good story, entertaining enough, but nothing to write home.
I just love this series. It's been so much fun to read. This book revolves around Alejandro and Travis. And, let me just say, I LOVE them. This story was all types of emotional but worth every tear. It was one of those books that, once finished, you have to give yourself a few minutes to fully process everything you just read.
Another great book added to an already fantastic series.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
2 hearts unsure of where to go. Healing complicated pasts towards a great future. This story had a little bit of everything. Suspense, romance & angst. Can't wait to see what's up next. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book for an honest opinion*
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the connection between Travis and Alejandro. Wow, what Travis had been through in his short 28 years was heartbreaking. I loved how supportive Alejandro was of what Travis had been through and even before knowing what had happened he could see by just looking in his eyes that they were broken so he offered friendship to start with but would like more if Travis could eventually offer it but would be happy to just be friends if that was all they could ever be. It was great how upfront Travis was that even though he found Alejandro hot, he couldn’t offer anything romantic right then since he had a lot of stuff to work through and may never get to a place that he was ready for a relationship but would definitely try. There was no leading on. I loved how the characters were so open about talking about their feelings and getting help when needed and that there is no shame in seeking it. I loved how Alejandro slowly started getting to know his partner Kirk and started letting him in a bit, I think they both need each other, Kirk needs somewhere to belong since he’s was a foster kid and since Alejandro’s family disowned him he’s found it hard to trust, but you have to be able to trust your partner especially because you may be in life or death situations. They were slowly becoming friends instead of just work partners. I loved how supportive Travis’s family are, even if they get on his nerves all the time, especially it’s way worse since he’s the baby of the family but they all love each other so much. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
Pick this book up when you need to unthaw your heart. The epic story of love & loss and move forward is emotional heart, soul & head journey not to mention Devine intervention! You will fall in love with this story!
A injury sidelined Travis and as the baby of the family 7 brother (3biological & 4cousins raised with him). He was being smothered to death. He leaves with his cousin Daniel back to Wyoming to start over. US Marshall Alejandro is busy with a case in Wyoming and normally shutting people out protects him. He has a new partner Out who he been an @ho, less then stellar to and 6 months they do work well together. The past both Alex & Travis have to work through is horrific & would crush most people. This love story will bring you to tears & and that sweet moment!!! The "letter" I'm my God - brilliant in the story. My favorite story so far. More reviews @my2centsbooklover Thank you for following!!
Beautiful, just beautiful! A tale of two men healing each other’s hearts and souls. I got so emotional while listening to this book, and I was openly weeping at times. Micheal Dean’s intense narration gave all the more strength to this already incredibly intense book. No doubt one of my favourite couples in the series. I just wanted to take them both into my arms and tell them everything would be OK. I loved that Travis actually realizes what is good for him and steps on the path of recovery himself; I love his crazy, obnoxious, large family. What to say about Alejandro if not “where can I find one?”. He’s patient, understanding and strong.
Security medic Travis gave his heart to doctor Jay when they were on assignment in Kenya, but Fate had other plans and two years later when Travis is shot on another assignment, he misses Jay more and more. When his cousin drags him to Wyoming to visit family for some down time, he encounters a sexy US marshal who seems interested in pursuing him, but Travis has so much baggage he doesn't know if he can ever even think of loving again when just living is a challenge.
Healing My Amorby Taylor Rylan is the sixth book in the Sulfur Springs series. This wonderful book is well written and emotional.... with drama, sweetness and heat. I love the storyline and the characters are fantastic together. I loved this!
Michael Dean's narration is fantastic - full of personality and emotion. I felt like the story shined. Great voicework and recording only adds to the entertainment of story.
Healing My Armor is the sixth book in the Sulfur Springs series and it was kind of a wild ride with an over-the-top plot and characters. There was nothing based on reality in this book, so I’m just going to leave that part of the plot alone. I had a hard time suspending my disbelief because everything was just so B-movie Hollywood. However, the actually romance and character development between the main characters was really nice and enjoyable.
This book had a lot going for it...an interesting plot, Michael Dean as narrator and an intriguing blurb. What it did not have was characters you could give even a small damn about. I found it extremely hard to warm to either MC, and their story came off as lackluster. I kept wishing and waiting for it to get better. I wished and waited in vain. I wish it had been written by Riley Hart.
Good I liked this one. It actually focused on the investigation some. Wish there was more and had some action. Did in the beginning but that was sad. Very emotional book. Loved the coin that was left for both guys.
I really enjoyed this listen. The characters were engaging and both were smart, successful, busy men, making time for each other and putting the other first. I loved how patient Alex was with Travis, and how much Travis let go of his past for his future. Well worth the listen.
I love this series, and this did not disappoint. Lots of feelings, emotional issues and pasts that need dealing with. Alejandro was awesome and so patient and loving with Travis. It was a beautiful and sexy read.
I hardly leave reviews. I never know what to say. On this book I will say it was the sweetest, saddest, and roller coaster of emotions. This book goes in my top 20 of books. If not the top ten.
This is a very moving story. The healing both of these men needed is both heartbreaking for the pain they suffered snd heartwarming for the love and support they each have. The ending oh man it was so powerful and affirming it gave me goosebumps of the good kind.
Good but a little repetitive. I would have liked a little more information about Alejandro's family and what his life was like after being evicted from his family.
