Legend of the Fort Island unravels it all in a thrilling manner.
Reasons why I picked up this book to read: a. The Book Cover. b. The Genre - Historical Fiction (my first read in this genre, was really excited about it!) c. The Blurb - warfare that's based in India.
This book is a thrilling tale of good v/s evil, the persistence of kindness against selfishness. The author has made the story completely action-packed, giving you the adrenaline rush at the perfect moments. The points of women empowerment, exploitation of mother nature, and self-conflicts are put forth superbly.
The inclusion of a map and list of characters/groups, in the beginning, is a great idea. I found the listing of characters as per appearance instead of relationships a little perplexing. The story is classified into three parts - the current plot, the history, and warfare. There are a few grammatical glitches, which the author can take care of in the next revision.
My favorite part of the book is when I see the women so strong-minded to fight for their clan. There are some excellent quotes that I have highlighted which I shall go through again and again. The book makes you take sides, and when your team wins/loses, you go through the same emotions. The story narration is very fluid and captivating.
Jazeera has an exceptional story with emotions ranging from happiness, naughtiness, sadness, lust, ego, vengeance, and anger. This was a splendid read for me, and I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. You get involved in the story right from the start, the realistic dialogues making it more believable.
The book leaves you completely motivated. Overall, an engaging and glorious read!
Jazeera by Yash Pawaskar is a mystery thriller that revolves around the island named Jazeera. Through a story of kings, kingdoms, and revenge, the author attempts to deliver an important message. It is this message that resounds in my mind even after finishing the book.
The protagonist of the book, Sultan Zorawar, is an ambitious man with little concern for humans and worldly relations. He is hungry for power who removes the odds of his path to success with a sip of Sin Serum. He grows up to believe that power can conquer anything and everything. And that idea becomes his nemesis. In his quest to be a powerful ruler, he kills several people and uproots the settlement of innocent people. But a few of them remain to return after 20 years for fulfilling a prophecy!
I liked the central plot of the book that teaches us to be humble despite our powers. It subtly tells us how a man is borne out of his experiences. So, Zorawar becomes a ruthless beast after his horrifying life experiences begetting negative thoughts in his mind. Along with this, the book also makes us realize how we humans are insensitive towards our mother nature. In our hunger for more, we ignore the aftermath of our mindless actions. The book reveals the truth of strength - strength lies in being kind to others and living in harmony with nature.
The characters are fleshed out well with each of them contributing significantly to the story. While I was surprised at Zorawar's attitude, I admired the representation of women. They are bold, courageous, and confident enough to fight on the battlefield. Their character description was both realistic and inspiring. I particularly didn't like the passive role of Queen in the story.
Moving on to the writing, the author has done a really good job. Right from conceiving the idea of Jazeera to executing it, the efforts put in research show up in the book. However, the story lacked an appropriate pace in some places. It was slow at some points while pretty flashy at others. Nevertheless, the overall presentation of the book turns out good with the lucid writing style and coherent narration. Recommended to beginners and moderate level readers.
Its a mind-blowing historical fiction story that you will love. The island has a haunting past, a turbulent present and a prophetic Future, how is Jazeera going to solve the mystery?.
I loved the storyline of the book. It's a blend of power, politics, thriller, mystery and suspense. It has been a long time that I read a good historic fiction. The plot of the story is super interesting filled with twists. The author successfully makes the readers curious from the very first page. The suspense element is wonderfully created by the author throughout the story.
The crisp and descriptive narration makes it intriguing. This book teaches us to be humble and giving no matter how powerful we are. We always hear from our elders, your present actions are the outcome for your future. Here too, Zorawar's actions, hunger for power made him a ruthless person.
The characters are well developed by the author that one could easily connect to. The simple and engaging writing style of the author makes this book interesting. The author successfully holds readers interest from the start. It's a bit slow-paced book at a few places with long descriptions.
Overall, It's a well-researched book, filled with mystery that you are going to love. This book has an important message to convey. The message of Unity, respect and to be kind with others and nature.
This is a story about Jazeera set in Bharatvarsh where there's a lot of kidnappings happening, which are believed to be an outcome of rise of black magic. It kept me hooked till the very end.
To be honest I really liked the morally grey characters. The plot was faced paced as well as quite interesting. I really loved some representation of strong female characters and gay characters as well (even though it was a mild presence). This story is mysterious, thrilling, witty, with poetic writing style as well as numerous plot twists.
However I felt a bit off because everything was happening super fast in the second half of the book. And I did not get enough time to digest the scenes. Also the characters though being extremely well written , I didn't feel any connection with them. Overall I think it's a must read. And I will definitely reread it very soon. Maybe buy a physical copy too. :)
The story is based on 14th century in Jazeera, a fort island where childrens of that very place are been kidnapped under mysterious circumstances, people starts believing it to be a work of black magic but there are more into it. Sultan and Wazir sets up on a mission to solve the mystery of this shadow. Whereas the bravery of Avni and Kashvi is well maintained throughout the story. One can picturize himself at that period of time and wander about his surroundings. The story has been woven extremely in a rich manner and how it moves forward is one have to explore by reading it.
It's a historical fiction. The book is been done divided into various section where you will find numerous topics spreading the story like an era of mysterious and haunted series, including thrilling experiences. The struggle of people, the feeling of vengeance, witty characters and well portrayed scenes makes it a full package.
The characters are well sketched. The storyline is engaging and the plot is worthy enough to diverge into the stories. The blurb caught my attention and I really enjoyed the book. It's not an exhaustive read rather a short one. The language is lucid and clear. The scenes and emotions have been well described. The cover and the title is totally apt for the storyline. Will definitely recommend.

The children's of the islanders are getting abducted by some strange villainous creature. Concerned about the rising issue the Wazir of Jazeera appoints an officer from Daulatabad to solve this problem, but again mysteriously this officer too gets killed. Who might have been behind these conspiracies? Are both the incidents of kidnapping of kids and the murder of the officer are related? . Apart from the kingdom of Jazeera there are the junglees residing in the Mahavan whose leader Bagha has an immense hatred for the Sultan of Jazeera. Apart from Bagha, Kashvi the leader of the cave dwellers too share same the feelings for the king. She with the help of Guru Ashwath is secretly organizing a war against the king of Jazeera by gathering allies. Are the cave dwellers and all the people residing in Mahavan is responsible for kidnapping the kids? For answers, you have to read the book. . I enjoyed reading this fictional historical thriller. All the characters in this even the evil one's like King Zorawar were not someone I could completely hate. Everyone had a story and the way characters were described or the places were narrated was definitely beautiful. It kept me at the edge of my seat before I reach the page where all the mysteries gets solved. The book has many characters in it and I love reading a book with so much enthusiasm and thrill in it. The whole imaginary atmosphere that the book created was amazing. . This book attracted me because of its title 'Jazeera' (as a news channel name Al Jazeera is my favourite). And yes, this book too is on my list of favourites. If you love reading historical thrillers you will definitely love this one.
Jazeera is historical fiction inspired from few real incidents as stated by the author . The storyline is quite interesting. Jazeera is forth island and one of the major city for trades and business but the Sultan Zorawar ruler of the kingdom is blindly power driven and for sale of his position he can go to any limits no matter what comes in his way. People of Jazeera are against the taxes and rules of the greedy Sultan but they can't raise their voices due to fear . Now since few months childern are being kidnapped at night from the Jazeera so the Wazir calls special officer to find out the truth . As there is myth that this is happening because of black magic. On the other hand villagers and junglees who lives outside jazeera are planning to take revenge and attack on Sultan .
I really enjoyed reading this . It is short book and the language is lucid. Characters and their back story is really interesting. Warfare scenes are nicely written . Plot is simple and as reader I didn't loose the interest anywhere. Must read for those who are new to reading .
Will hamid find out the kidnapped children ? Will Sultan manage to keep the thrown to himself ? Who is kidnapping the children ? Black magic or some trcik ? To know more you have to read the book .
🔹 What I liked the most : - 1. Message about coexistence of mankind and mother nature. 2. The particular scene when Hamid educates Urmila about her own power and inspire her to take stand for herself .
Thank you to the publishers for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts:- * The story begins with a mysterious rider coming into a small island called Jazeera. He is the king’s guest and soon we learn has been called to assist in solving the mystery of children’s kidnappings happening in the Jazeera. A large group of kids have been kidnapped in a matter of days and no one knows who is behind it. People believe the children have been taken to perform black magic and have lost hope of ever getting them back. The guest though, has brought a new hope to all. Will he solve the mystery of kidnappings or uncover a bigger crime?
* From the start of the story till the end, the author captures your attention and doesn’t let it waver for a minute. The story has been told by multiple point of views and has many sub plots, revelations, twist and turns that keep you invested at all times. The writing was good and impactful. I enjoyed reading the back stories of all the characters, knowing how and why they became what they are and it made the story more intriguing.
* There were so many characters and all very variant and likeable. Avni was brave and fierce, Hamid was clever and quick witted. Goraksh was unapologetically himself and these are the three characters I most admired. The antagonist of the story was well developed. Zorawar was a tyrant and a cruel man. We also get to know his back story and it helped see things via his perspective which was insightful and added to the depth of the story.
* Overall a good read and would highly recommend to all historical fiction lovers as well as those who enjoy reading stories of ambitions, betrayals, sacrifices, politics, love and friendships.

If you had been following my reviews and my blog actively, you would be aware that I am fascinated by stories of kings, palaces, castles, warriors and sword. So, I am likely to get excited to read anything and everything that revolves around these things. This book was a good read but not an exceptional one so I give it 4 stars out of 5 and here is my review of it.
This fictional story is based in the 14th century and revolves around Jazeera, a fort island. The story has a typical war-like set-up that you might have seen in different movies and you might be able to picture some of the scenes as well in your mind. The kidnapping of kids, whispering stories of black magic, the bravery of Avni and Kashvi, Zorawar being the main evil character the actions of the ambitious Sultan of Jazeera and a lot more interesting things are a part of this fast-paced book. It is a great book for those who enjoy reading stories about war scenes based on the history of India.
Though I liked the cover of this book, for me it would have been perfect if it has been less animated. The title is apt for this story. Though the plot is an ordinary one, the narration pulled it up a bit and made this book interesting to read.
If you are not a lover of this genre, you can skip this book. But, if you enjoy reading such stories, it can be a good book for you if not a “Wow” one.
What a political drama! A quietly powerful book containing an inner core of steely strength. Set in the heart of Jazeera - Legend of the fort island, this story focuses and tormented by a mysterious Shadow, who is kidnapping Jazeera’s children. Whispers suggest that there’s black magic at play to invoke the mighty Timingila. Jazeera’s ambitious Sultan and the pragmatic Wazir summon an Officer from the Sultanate to solve this mystery.
Author Yash Pawaskar has the beautiful skill of pointing out the hidden in normality to allow a greater understanding. The seemingly simple story connected to my thoughts, he made me think in a different way, to consider the small things that can turn into an avalanche of awareness. Talking about the characters Avni and Kashvi were my favourite. They were so brave and highly determined and was able to make this book along with the writing fascinating and a worthy read indeed.
Complex, compelling and luminously lyrical, this book tells a powerful tale I know I’ll return to over and over. . #reading #bookstagram #books #book #bookworm #booklover #read #bookish #bibliophile #instabook #booknerd #bookaddict #love #b #bookstagrammer #reader #writing #bookaholic #booksofinstagram #booklove #bookshelf #literature #bookphotography #readingtime #readersofinstagram
First of all, the book cover is good and the title is suitable for the book. Historical fictions always have their own speciality and so this book. I loved the way the places are represented. I liked the character sketches and their rightly woven back stories. It is filled with suspense and is also fast paced, so it is suitable for readers who are looking for short and interesting read!
The story 'Jazeera- Legend of the Fort Island' is a novel set up in 14th century. Jazeera is a fort island on Bharatvasrh's west coast and weirdly some mysterious shadow kidnaps Jazeera's children! Who is Timingila? Is it black magic as everyone says? Read this suspense story of existence, revenge, fear, and black magic. Heart touching and memorable characters make this book the best!
Talking about the writing style, it is good. Anyway, I'm really attracted by the way the author wanted to make this book clear and simple to the readers. It consists of three party part 1 and part 3 dealing with present, and part 2 of past! He has attached a map in it, marking the places nearby for better understanding. He has also given a list of characters in the order of their appearance in the story.
“Where there is mankind, there is exploitation of nature” Jazeera, a fort island towards south of India, is majestic, impregnable and famous for its various indulgences: toddy production, gambling, prostitution, etc. The citizens of Jazeera had a rude and tyrant ruler, Sultan Zorawar, who along with this son Prince Adil and wife Queen Jahanara and his aide and brother of Jahanara, Wazir-Ubaid Khan, lived inside the fort. The citizens were living in tranquillity when suddenly their children started disappearing or were kidnapped by dark Shadows. The citizens believed that this was happening because of the myth of “Timingala”, little did they know, it was a result of their ruler’s sins. When the citizens pleaded to their ruler to save their children, the ruler dismissed the case and gave its responsibility to Wazir and himself was preparing to conquer the whole country, the “Bharatvarsh”. A war was fought and the motive behind it lies into the siege that occurred twenty years back. What actually was the motive and why were the innocent children being kidnapped?
The book is well-written, a bit fast paced, historical fiction with lots of characters and special and important emphasis given to the women warriors all along the story. The third person narrative style, the storyline and especially the plot makes this book glued to the readers. The book is an accolade to feminism, the plotting, planning and the valiance showed by the women is commendable. After such a long time, I read a book that I regret finishing up soon and will definitely give it another read.
Jazeera is a fictional story inspired by multiple true events most of which are related to Murud Janjira Fort in Maharashtra as said by Author himself. I absolutely enjoyed reading this story because of the following given below reasons:
✅ Grasp of Author on the language was amazing. I doubt about any mistakes I might have come across. ✅ The plot was short and up to the mark. No too much detailing and no too much lagging. ✅ The story is a war based story based on the time of our Mughal empires.
I expected really less from this book but after reading it I was totally surprised as to how interesting this book truly is. Jazeera is a fort island which was ambushed by Sultan Zorawar twenty years back. The story is about the original inhibitants fighting to take their land back. An interesting twist in the story is about how the children's go missing from Jazeera. I loved how Author has focused on woman protagonist and empowered them by making them a skilled warrior. For this book I would definitely say, never judge a book by it's cover.

Things begin to take a worse turn when children of Jazeera fort gets kidnapped by some hooded figures who were rumoured to be involved in some black magic. The rest of the story deals with how the mystery behind the kidnapping gets unfold and Sultan Zorawar gets his punishment for all the cruel things he have done.
The book 'Jazeera: legend of the fort island' is a story based on both fiction and facts. The author has mentioned that the story was based on some true events related to the fort known as 'Murud Janjira' in Maharashtra. The plot was strong and really interesting and I had finished reading it in one sitting. The writing was simple and lucid. The narration style was pretty interesting. Overall it was an interesting read.
A true thriller. Fast pacing, political and powerful story. . The story revolves around Jazeera, a fort island from where children are being kidnapped by a shadow. Myths are that some black magic is involved. Jazeera is ruled by a ruthless and drunk on power sultan, who had a haunted past. What happens when the past returns to take revenge? What happens when the people of the island revolts and turn against the king? While the story is more of a thriller set in old times, the author has given a beautiful message to live in harmony with nature. The author has beautifully depicted the importance of nature and harms we are causing to mother earth by building our societies by cutting down forests. Amazing usage of words and beautifully written book.
Hearing upon the title, one can make out that it is the name of a place "Jazeera: Legend of the fort island," which sounds quite interesting. This book is historical fiction set around in the times of King and Queens of 14th century. The story is interesting and will hold one's attention from the start. In a land of Jazeera, children are being mysteriously kidnapped by what is assumed to be a strange shadow. When the people of Jazeera are unable to find the abductor, things led one another and everyone made a belief. They believed that shadow a result of a black magic which can also invoke Timingila. The Sultan choose someone to take charge of this issue and to resolve it. But who is Timingila? Why does anyone need black magic to invoke him? Is he a dangerous entity? Will this problem be solved? . All-embracing, this book has quite an fascinating story indulging the readers into it's mysterious twisting plots. The charater of Avni and Kashvi is well portrayed. The tale is filled with suspense, the haunted series, revenge, and the struggle of the common folks. Every character has been their equal share of importance. The cover is very fitting to the story giving a picture of a mysterious shadow looking intently from afar at the Fort.
It is a gripping story . A historical fiction with many fantasy characters and groups. The backdrop is of 14th century. As we read we know the situations meet the situations of Muhammad bin Tughlaq's time almost and the southern kings are vijaynagar empire type or so. The tribals and groups were actually interesting to read. The mystery of the children's getting kidnapped were plotted nicely . It is adventurous and the twists of unsolved mysteries keep unfolding slowly with each part. The book has a map and a list of which character is who and what are the slaves and the composition of tribals groups was good addition . Language is nice and best is the scenarios have rich imaginative description.
Content - Jazeera, the Fort Island on Bharatvarsh's west coast is tormented by a mysterious shadow who os kidnapping children aged between 5 and 12. Jazeera's ruler, the ruthless Sultan Zorawar has asked for an officer from the Sultanate to solve the mystery but he was killed inside Zorawawar's palace. The tribes in the dense forest near the fort is also causing a lot of troubles for the Sultan. . Read the full book to know the rest of the story. 📖 📖 My Views - Jazeera is a fast paced historical fiction set in 14th Century. The first few chapters built a very strong and mysterious base for the readers to get hooked to the book. The story is divided in very small chapters for the readers to understand the story easily. The creation and the past of Jazeera has given an added spice to the story. The characters are very strong and very well built. The narration and the writing style is very easy to read and understand and to make it easier for the readers, there is a glossary in the first few pages of the book with the names of the tribes and the characters. There is also a map of Jazeera and Bharatvarsh to get a whole view. The climax part is not that nail biting and it finishes kind of unsatisfactorily. . But overall a very interesting and enjoyable read.
Book's cover and blurb is what intrigued me to pick up the book. Story is set in a fictional setup of ancient India. Language is simple. Its a fast paced book with lots of thriller, suspense and action. Characterization is another strong point of the book as every character is described in detail. Author has incorporated women empowerment very nicely. Indian values have been conveyed throughout the story. Suspense created by the author is mind blowing. Must read for lovers of historical fiction and thriller genre.
It's a historical fiction based on an island which is being ruled by a tyrant ruler, Zorawar. This kingdom is currently facing kidnapping of little children. Firstly they think it's some black magic then the investigation leads to "The Shadows", people dressed up in black plus they are expert in fighting and flying. Once they got hold on one of the Shadows and it's not he but a she. Yes! Girl warrior😍 By the second half of book, the plot picks up its speed and it is revealed that Zorawar had played dirty in past to gain control over the island due to which almost all the men were massacred. All the women and children escaped and now they are revolting back as they want tehir home back. Loved the concept of girl warriors plus the teaching teh original inhabitants were following..they were.. 1. The strong do not prey on the weak. 2. Strength lies in living together as a community and in harmony with nature. 3. We must respect Mother Nature and undertake developments that do not harm her. There is no glory in the progress if it is achieved by exploiting our natural resources. . These teachings are perfect for today too. It was a nice weekend light read but I must say the plot was interesting in second half only.
When i started the book, i did not have much hopes, but i was wrong. The book is beautifully written, with a good ending. I was expecting something else to happen, but the end was beautiful in its own way. The starting could have been better, but given how the story went on can be over looked. The story gives me a Bollywood movie or a good historical tv show feel. The characters could be more well developed but given the speed of the story and the length of the book, its understandable. Nevertheless, a lovely book to read.
This fictional story is based in the 14th century and revolves around Jazeera, a fort island. It is a gripping story that I completed at one sitting only. Language is good and the best part was how descriptive it was, you could literally imagine everything you read because there was such a beautiful descriptive telling.
The mystery of the children's getting kidnapped were plotted nicely and in many places, the story though fictional seems to be very believable as our country was a group of many kingdoms and we even today witness the forts that were built ages ago. While reading one can actually visualize any of the fort that they have visited and thus there is a surreal feeling developed.
The book was adventurous, fun and real in every aspect actually if you could see clearly through the story. And I love how the twists of unsolved mysteries keep unfolding slowly with each part.
The book is beautifully written, with a good ending. I was expecting something else to happen, but the ending was beautiful no matter what. I really enjoyed reading this book. Jazeera: Legend of the Fort Island unravels it all in a thrilling manner.
The story is about fighting for existence. The story is about retaliation and revolt. The author has very realistically narrated the story and in a very believable manner at that.
Jazeera is the book sets in 14 century BCE in the place called jazeera. Cover is good and title is based upon the place 'jazeera' and it is intriguing. Plot is really interesting. If you like to read historical fiction, this book is for you..
Book Title: Jazeera: Legend of the Fort Island Author: Yash Pawaskar Format: Kindle
Book Title: The title of the book ' Jazeera: Legend of Fort Island ' is interesting and engrossing. It is not so common that a place is the main title in a fiction book.
Book Cover: The cover image of the book is a representation of a conqueror in disguise with a robe and a sword in his hand facing the fort. It reminds the readers of those fictional stories based on kingdoms and such stuff.
Plot: It’s 14th century CE. Bharatvarsh’s political landscape is in turmoil. The Northern Sultanate has moved its capital back to Delhi from Daulatabad and is bleeding from economic losses. The southern states, coming together as the Sujaynagar Empire, have pushed back the Northern Sultanate. Amidst this chaos, Jazeera, a fort island on Bharatvasrh’s west coast and a vassal state under the Sultanate, is tormented by a mysterious Shadow, who is kidnapping Jazeera’s children. Whispers suggest that there’s black magic at play to invoke the mighty Timingila. Jazeera’s ambitious Sultan and the pragmatic Wazir summon an Officer from the Sultanate to solve this mystery. Meanwhile, tribes in the dense forest near the fort island are feeling the ripple effects of Jazeera’s troubles, and are seeking alliances and formulating secret plans. The island has a haunting past, a turbulent present, and a prophetic future. Jazeera: Legend of the Fort Island unravels it all in a thrilling manner.
My Review: Jazeera is a story of a victim place that is under oppression from every side. The story is about fighting for existence. The story is about retaliation and revolt. The author has very realistically narrated the story. In many places, the story though fictional seems to be very believable as our country was a group of many kingdoms and we even today witness the forts that were built ages ago. While reading one can actually visualize any of the fort that they have visited and thus there is a surreal feeling developed.
The names of the characters mentioned in the story either human or non-human are very fascinating. I could relate to the Chandamama stories which had such attractive stories and names. Kudos to the author for such wonderful writing.
What I like: 1. The plotline which is unique in this era of either realistic fiction or chic-lit with drama 2. It is indeed an exciting feeling to read warfare scenes. Though they seemed a little lightly constructed, it was good reading. 3. Every character has its own importance and none were given a backseat. This is how a collective effort of people in power must be to save their land from enemies.
What I didn't like: It is a fictional story. Some readers may not be connected to the story. But there are as such no flaws.
Characters: The characters of Avni , Queen Jahanara or Sultan Zorawar are written with extreme detailing that is one of the attractive features.
Narration: Very smooth and engrossing narration is found in the story.
Language & Grammar: Easy language with sufficient vocabulary is used in the story.
My Final Verdict: Racy myth fiction
Book Title: 3/5 Book Cover: 3/5 Plot: 3/5 Characters: 3/5 Narration: 3/5 Language & Grammar3/5 Final Rating: 3/5
Cover: A mysterious figure clad in a robe and a cloak with a dagger in hand overlooking an island fort in distance on a full moon night. All this is enough to create the interest of the reader towards the book which looks like a medieval or gothic tale of suspense. Blurb: It’s 14th century CE. The island has a haunting past, a turbulent present, and a prophetic future. Jazeera: Legend of the Fort Island unravels it all in a thrilling manner. Review: The novel at hand is structured in three parts with first part having 26 chapters and the third part with 13 chapters and an epilogue. The second part has a single unit Titled ‘Twenty Years ago’ explaining the background and setting of the story. The epilogue serves the purpose of bringing the story to a conclusive end. All links are established and every fact is clarified. Moreover, the book begins with a Map, names and descriptions of characters and tribes & groups used in the story. This acts as a guide to the reader making the story easy to be assimilated in one go. The chapters aren’t very lengthy with easy flowing narration and every chapter ends on a point which serves as a connecting link to the next one. Each chapter focuses on a single incident or plotline making it agreeable to the brain without stuffing it with diverse issues all at the same time. The characters are well drawn with detailing done to evoke interest specially Jorawar, Avni and Jahanara. The revolt, the retaliation, the desire to be all powerful, the quest for throne, and all such societal feuds which were prevalent in the Indian sub-continent in the 14th century and around are very well reflected here making it relatable to the readers. In order to know, how the island fort of Jazeera came into being? Or how mighty Jorawar wished to claim his rights over Sultanate? Or how Kashvi proved to be a better leader than the males of the clan? Or how Guru Ashwath trained Avni and others to realise his dreams of uniting all segregated kingdoms of India? All you need to do is grab the copy and find out for yourself. I assure you that you will not be disappointed in doing so. Congratulations to the author.
Jazeera: Legend of the Fort Island Yash Pawaskar Kindle Edition 138 Pages
“Praiseworthy book. An engaging, well-knit, critical and a highly dimensional plot that circumscribes political strata, economic disparity, gender roles, progressive idea and more.”
The book, Jazeera: Legend of the Fort Island, is a three-part novel which elaborates the ongoing battle between the ruler Zorawar and his men against the natives at Mahavan. The mysterious kidnapping of kids by the Shadow at Jazeera is a recurring event that leads to further planning to invade and attack the treacherous rulers. The second part of the book gives a rear story of a few decades past when the whole division happened and for political capture of the territory. The novel ends with a predictable verge where the evil is defeated for the restoration of peace and balance in the region.
Jazeera: Legend of the Fort Island is a historical novel anchored centuries ago yet surprisingly exhibits progression in its portrayal of major women characters. Despite these women playing cliche roles of wives, mothers or housemaids, they are shown as largely acute, vigilant and stronger women when it comes to saving their land and avenging for the loss of their loved ones. The book has collated the characters, conflict and resolution to a conventional yet noteworthy ending. The infusion of political vengeance and power of higher authority practised behind the fort walls at Jazeera mirrors the rule that passed on for ages in the days of yore. However, in contrast, the author very well ushers in the idea of electing the governing council by the people of the island at the end of the book. Certain strong emotions are represented in tiny episodes such as Zorawar's anger after drinking Sin Serum, Bagha's arrogance during his meeting with Guru Ashwath, Jahanara's plead from her brother Wazir for the protection of her son.
The spirit of the events laid out in the book takes us to the setting of old times. Especially with such lucid and explicit elaboration of the locations, the warfare and the meeting of characters, the reading confers manifold aspects to brood over and reflect deeply. The beauty of the whole text lies in its entirety as a coherent writ of rage, vengeance, concern, thoughtfulness and courage to fight beyond bars. However, a couple of episodes could have been skipped to clutch the interest as they dipped the engagement for a short period in the middle. The most prominent feature is retained in the mores given in at all appropriate times in the book. They are surrounded by both conflicting scenes and resolving guidance assisting readers to connect more with old times and approaching transition in age and cognition. To say the least, the author has written a book that lives about centuries ago and still thrives for evolution along the reality of time.
