A gripping psychological thriller with a heart-stopping twist
Charley Willis was thirteen years old when her parents were killed in their family home and she was found hiding in a cupboard upstairs.
Fifteen years later, Charley is marrying Seth Chambers. It should be the happiest day of their lives, a chance for Charley to put her past behind her, but just hours after the ceremony, she is missing.
No one saw her leave. No one knows where she is.
One thing is for certain…Seth is about to discover he doesn’t really know the woman he just married. And his nightmare is only just beginning.
A totally gripping psychological thriller that will keep you reading until the very last jaw-dropping twist.

He has also written two top-20 thrillers in the United States. His book, Ten Birthdays, won the RNA award for Young Adult Novel of the Year in 2018 and Close To You won the International Thriller Award for best ebook in 2020.

He has been published around the world in more than a dozen languages.
Originally from the county of Somerset, Kerry spent way too long living in the north of England, picking up words like 'barm' and 'ginnel'.
When he's short of ideas, he rides his bike, hikes up something, or bakes cakes. When he's not, he writes it all down.
A gripping thriller, I found this one hard to put down! It starts at Seth and Charley's wedding reception, Seth goes looking for his new wife so they can cut the cake, but Charley has disappeared, seemingly vanished into thin air, and nobody has seen her go. This starts Seth asking questions. Did she run off? Or was she taken?
It is soon revealed that Charley has a tragic past. Her parents were brutally murdered when she was 13 years old, with Charley hiding in a cupboard upstairs so the intruder couldn't find her. The murders were never solved. Does Charleys disappearance on her wedding night have something to do with her parents murder on that night 15 years before? As Seth fears the worst, he soon learns that not all is as it seems. Someone has secrets, and will go to great lengths to keep them hidden.
I was completely riveted by this book. Kerry Wilkinson weaves a tale of deception and intrigue, with a wow of an ending you wont see coming! I recommend this book to all lovers of psychological fiction and suspense.

Your wedding day should be the happiest day of your life right? For Seth, I’m afraid that’s just not the case, not when his wife seems to have vanished on the day of. It happens, though of course, Seth never thought it would happen to him!
Charley’s life isn’t an ordinary one. As a child, she went through something quite tragic. Something she’s hidden from her entire life. Her parents, Annie and Paul Willis were brutally murdered in their own home, with Charley hiding in a closet, mere feet away. Charlotte, as she was then called, was thirteen years old. Her sister Martha, nine years her senior, has raised her ever since.
Though Charley’s family tragedy was in all the papers, Seth never asked her about it, figuring their life together was all that mattered. Now of course, with her having disappeared, he realizes his mistake. Where is Charley? Who, exactly is his wife? These are questions Seth does not know the answers to and with every passing day, Seth becomes more afraid of the answers.
Talk about a nail biter! Imagine being Seth.. is your spouse a runaway bride or has she been kidnapped? This is a novel that made me glad I wasn’t married! Ahh!
“The Wife’s Secret” by Kerry Wilkinson is an intriguing, tension-filled mystery. It has short chapters which add to the suspense and made it so that I couldn’t swipe the pages on my kindle fast enough. This story is told in alternating POV’s between Seth in the present and Charley in the past, which is highly effective. What can I say except that this is a must read for mystery/suspense lovers.
This was a fabulous buddy read with Kaceey!
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Kerry Wilkinson for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
Published on NetGalley, Goodreads and Twitter on 9.11.18.
It’s your wedding day! The happiest day of your life. For Seth that was certainly the case. Life is beautiful!
That is until his new bride Charley disappears from the wedding reception. How does that happen? No sign of her anywhere. Is this a bad prank? Or is she missing because of a decidedly far darker reason?
The Willis curse
Charley was the daughter of a famous couple. Fifteen years ago she survived an unthinkable night of horrors when her parents were murdered in their home. The killer… never caught. Over time, Charley has done her best to put the scars of that night behind her and create a new life for herself. Did the past just catch up with her?
Told in the present from Seth’s POV, the past told from Charley’s. As the time lines and storylines dovetail together, will it bring any crucial clues as to what happened to Charley? Or will she hopelessly fall victim to the dreaded family curse? The Willis curse.
This is the third book I’ve read from Kerry Wilkinson and still have one more waiting for me on the shelf. Kerry always weaves consistently great tales that keep you engaged and entertained, and always reading that “one more chapter.”
I was a little off my game of deducing plot twists! Always appreciated, many slipped by my highly- trained eye, leaving me with some unexpected surprises! And who doesn’t like a surprise!!🤷🏻♀️
A buddy read with Susanne 🌸
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Kerry Wilkinson for an ARC to read in exchange for an honest review
Can I just say I loved the first line of this book? “They say you can choose your family. That might be true, but you can certainly leave them off the guest list when you’re getting married.”
The story involves Charley, a bride who goes missing from her wedding reception. This story is interwoven with the story of Charley’s parents who were murdered in their house when Charley was just 13.
The present day story is told from Seth’s POV. In addition to his missing bride, he’s dealing with a mother with dementia. The back chapters are told from Charley’s and a variety of other individuals’ POVs.
At one point, Wilkinson uses a news reporter as the cynical voice of what’s to come after the murders. It’s spot on. No humor here like his Jessica Daniels series. This one is dark and brooding. It’s a slow burn. You are in the dark, no idea whether Charley was taken or gone on her own. Is she dead or being held somewhere?
This one kept my Interest from beginning to end. Lots of twists to the plot. Another worthy addition to Wilkinson’s oeuvre.
My thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of this book.
Charley was thirteen when her parents were killed, while she was upstairs hiding in the cupboard. After that horror, she went to live with her sister who was known as the wild child. The killer was never found. Now fifteen years later, it’s Charley’s wedding but after a few hours after she married to Seth, she disappeared and no one could find her! And that’s when that we find out more about the family curse!
She had plans for the future, why would you talk about all that and then disappear? How can someone disappear in a wedding dress? Did she walk away or someone took her? Is Charley the person he thought he knew? What is this family curse? Is it really a curse? What is the wife’s secret?
My first read by this author and it was really good! totally enjoyed it! It contains short chapters (always in my favor) and in such a way that made you turn the page to read the next one! Well-written, a bit slow with a great story-line! I should say I couldn’t guess her secret! It’s alternating between the past and the present. Told in multiple POV, 1st person. It’s a standalone novel and I’m looking forward to more of the author’s books! Overall, really liked it and hope you enjoy it as well!
Thanks to Kerry Wilkinson, Netgalley and Bookouture for the advanced digital copy in exchange an honest review.
What if after your bride says “I do,“ she has done disappeared???
Welcome to Seth’s life, after his bride goes missing during the reception.... turning his dream day into a nightmare... but would Charlie really run off? They were happy, weren’t they? Did somebody take her? But why? Seth knew Charlie had a bit of a past, but how well did he really know his wife?
This is a riveting thriller with short chapters that keep you glued to those pages! Told from multiple points of view, Seth in the present and Charlie in the past... this was a tremendously impactful and perfect way to tell or shall I say reveal the story.... because as layer after layer after layer was peeled away you began to see the true story right along with Seth... Seth was a very sympathetic character, I really felt for him, is confusion, his fear.... but as a seasoned veteran of the psychological thriller genre, I couldn’t help but question every move he made.... I mean a lot of times it is the husband, right? But is it this time? Or has Charlie‘s pass come back to haunt her?🤐
Charlie grew up in the spotlight as the child of a famous couple made infamous after a gruesome murder.... Charlie was then raised by her 22-year-old sister Martha, but this was not the only tragedy to strike this family.... now even though I do respect charlie’s right to privacy, if I were Seth I would’ve been brimming with questions and curiosity.... it baffles me that Seth wasn’t more inquisitive, but would that have solved anything? Would this have not happened? I’m not sure about that.... some secrets are so deeply buried that not even a nosy significant other can dig them out....
Kerry Wilkinson has fast become an automatic download for me, and this book just reinforces that! He has a way of setting the scene, bringing those characters to life, and keeping you on the edge of your seat.... there is nothing better than a twisty thriller that keeps you guessing with a jaw dropping ending.... but the cherry on top is when you can look back and see how all those puzzle pieces fit together, and how you missed all those clues! Stumped again!
For all you psychological thriller fans out there, this is a must read!
*** A huge thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book ***
When Charlotte (Charlie) was 13, she was the sole witness to the terrible, sensational murder of her famous millionaire parents. Her family was paraded in the tabloids for years. She went to stay with her older sister. Now it’s fifteen years later and she’s getting married… except on her wedding day, she disappears.
This novel had an interesting format. Told in dual timelines, we have Seth (Charlotte’s husband)’s POV on their wedding day just after her disappearance. The chapters alternate between his POV in the present timeline and a flashback timeline where Charlie and her sister and brother deal with the tragedy of their parents, as well as a greedy uncle out to get their fortune. I LOVE a good mystery with so many potential suspects you have no idea who the killer(s) could be until the last page. This one kept me guessing as everyone had motives and everyone seemed a bit shady.
It's not unheard of for a bride to get cold feet and not show up for her wedding, but when Charley Willis disappears after her wedding during the reception, no one knows what to think. Her new husband Seth Chambers can't think why she would run away - she was happy and looking forward to this day, they had not argued and as far as he knew she was not in trouble of any kind. He is sure she must have been abducted and, after fruitlessly searching the grounds and their home for her, he calls the police to report her missing.
Charley's name is well known to the British public as her parents were both famous as TV game show and lifestyle presenters. The family also become infamous when 13y old Charley survived a vicious attack that killed both her parents in their own home while Charley hid in the wardrobe. Taken in and brought up by her 22y old sister Martha (the feisty wild-child of the family), Charley has since then tried to put the past behind her and lead a normal life away from the glare of the media. But can she really leave the past behind?
Told in two timelines, by Seth as he hunts for Charley and by Charley as she recalls the past, the plot is intriguing and compelling as lies and secrets come to light. Well written with a suspense that builds to an unexpected ending, this was a very engaging thriller.
With thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for a digital ARC to read
The Wife’s Secret by Kerry Wilkinson is a psychological thriller that is told from two timelines and different points of view. But not to worry, coming from an excellent writer the story was very easy to follow as it switches back and forth building the past and present.
Charley Willis and Seth Chambers have just gotten married and should be happily celebrating their wonderful day. However, the couple gets separated at their reception and when Seth goes to look for Charley she is no where to be found. With no one knowing where Charley has gone eventually the police get involved.
Charley is not a stranger to the spotlight and police investigations. When Charley was only thirteen her parents were murdered in the family home while Charley herself was in the house. Charley had been found hiding in a cupboard upstairs in the home and the only witness to just what happened but the killer was never found.
While The Wife’s Secret was another very solid read from Kerry Wilkinson this one was not my favorite overall leaving me to rate it at 3.5 stars. I felt the story was a little slow going in places although as I said it is easy to follow as it goes back and forth between the past and present. But again perhaps due to reading too many thrillers I had part of this one figured out really early on so I wasn’t quite as shocked as I could have been. Still a nice read though and will definitely be back for more from this author.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via Netgalley.
I received a free e-copy of The Wife's Secret by Kerry Wilkinson from NetGalley for my honest review.
Loved it! Another gripping psychological thriller from Kerry Wilkinson.
Charley Willis, who at the age of thirteen, was found hiding in a cupboard in her home where her parents were murdered.
Fifteen years later, Charley is getting ready to get married to marry Seth. What should be the happiest day of their lives take a very scary twist. Charley is missing just hours after the wedding ceremony. Where is she?
For Seth, his worst nightmare is just beginning. He is quickly realizing that he doesn't really know his wife at all.
A psychological thriller by author Kerry Wilkinson that for me doesn't quite hit the high standard of the other one's I have read by him. That is not to say it isn't a decent read because it is but when you set the bar so high it makes it so much more difficult. I though it was very strong at the start and I was instantly caught up in the plot but as the book went on I became less and less enthralled.
The novel is about bride Charley Willis whose parents were killed in their family home when she was just thirteen years old and she was found hiding in a cupboard upstairs. Now fifteen years later, Charley is marrying Seth Chambers and what should be the happiest day of their lives and a chance for Charley to put her past behind her is turned into a nightmare when just hours after the ceremony, she is missing. No one saw her leave the reception and no one knows where she is. Seth is left alone with his new wife missing and he is about to discover he doesn’t really know the woman he just married.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
The Wife's Secret is an interesting standalone novel and an original take on the "you don't know her as well as you think you do" trope. The story follows Charley and Seth who are newlyweds but not long after the wedding Charley disappears. I never include spoilers but let's just say that she isn't exactly who she said she was, and even though Seth is her husband, he really doesn't know the real Charley. What is this curse that has plagued her family for generations? Has it struck again, or is there something more tangible at play here?
As always, Mr Wilkinson's descriptive prose is engaging, and once it's got you in its grasp, it doesn't let you go until you've turned the final page. There is an almost expert use of misdirection sending the reader down towards plenty of dead ends, and there are lots of twists - unfortunately, most were predictable long before they occurred. It's quite a pedestrian-paced novel which slowly builds the tension right up to the final explosive surprise! The characters are just developed enough and are interesting - you really want to know what happens to them! Told from multiple first-person perspectives, it features a timeline that alternates between past and present which adds more intrigue to the whole book, and the short chapters make this a quick read, although as I mentioned earlier this isn't a fast-paced book, and it did get a little "sticky" in places where it didn't feel like we were moving anywhere.
You can always rely on Mr Wilkinson to provide an action-packed, exciting and highly entertaining story, and this one is no exception. Grab yourself a copy to read over a cold, Autumn afternoon! A well-woven tale that has more secrets, lies and betrayal that you can shake a stick at, but I did predict quite early on many of the twists. Those who only dabble in crime fiction may find this more unpredictable than I did.
Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Do we really know who we married? Only time will tell...
The Wife’s Secret is a compelling psychological thriller that I read in 24 hours. The first few chapters were slow to start, but then it picked up and I couldn't stop reading until I got to the end. This book does move between timelines with ease, in fact, the flashbacks make the story more intriguing. A definite winner with a great storyline, fantastic characters, and an ending you won't see coming! This was my first book by Kerry Wilkinson and it definitely won't be my last!
*Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Oh yes she had a BIG secret! Seth and Charley got married but Charley disappeared at the wedding reception and couldn't be found anywhere. Did someone kidnap her? Did she decide the marriage was a mistake? What happened? What wife disappears after the wedding and before the marriage even starts?
This was a great mystery filled with tension and intrigue. Charley had quite a past that Seth didn't know about and it was fun discovering what actually happened. I liked both Seth and Charley and kind of felt bad for both of them. This was well written and the plot certainly kept my attention.
Thanks to Kerry Wilkinson and Bookouture through Netgalley for an advance copy.
The happiest day of Seth’s life turns into a miserable one when his bride Charley disappears on their wedding night. With no one knowing and no clues about her whereabouts the police get involved.Charley is well known to the police as she survived a vicious attack in her home when she was 13 years old that ended in both her parents getting killed. Charley along with her sister Martha tried moving on and she built a life for herself but maybe her past and the killer finally caught up on her.
Kerry Wilkinson’s The Wife’ Secret switches between two different timelines and different point of view but is easy to follow. A psychological thriller which was a little slow paced in the middle compared to his other books, it was still an enjoyable read and am looking forward to reading more by him
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.
Kerry Wilkinson is an author that never disappoints me! I tend to scoop up his books as soon as they are available request and read. Often times, I don't even read the synopsis because I know I'll like whatever he writes. After Seth and Charlie get married, Charlie goes missing from their reception. Seth knows of Charlie's past: her parents were killed in a horrific murder and Charlie was the only survivor. The murderer was never caught. But Seth doesn't know everything about Charlie. He sets out to find Charlie because he knows she would never leave him. Told through flashbacks to Charlie's childhood and Seth's quest to find her, we start seeing what really happened on both nights. I enjoyed this mystery even though I did figure out one aspect to the story but I didn't know all of it. Another winner from one of my favorite authors!
*Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.
Domestic suspense thriller. What if the woman you've married turns out to be someone you didn't know at all?
The Willis family seems to be followed by a curse of tragedy. Parents Annie and Paul, "Everyone's mum and dad" are famous for their books and television presence. When they are murdered one night, their 13-year-old daughter, Charley, is found by her sister Martha hiding in the wardrobe upstairs. The killer was never found. Fifteen years later, Charley marries vet Seth Chambers -- and goes missing from the wedding reception. As Seth tries to figure out where Charley has gone, with the police and the press coming and going, he's in a right state of exhaustion and worry.
The narrative goes back and forth in time and point of view as the story unravels layer by layer with surprising twists and bitter truth. The Willis family wasn't who they represented themselves to be, which isn't the most surprising revelation, but it's true that you can't always believe everything you hear, that you read, or that you see. Many secrets are hidden behind the front door of a family home and the Willis family has a lot to hide. Money may not be everything to everyone, but it sure can provide a lot of negative or positive motivation.
Enjoyed this standalone by one of my favorite authors. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-book ARC to read and review.
I loved the book. Wife, Charley, disappeared one hour after the wedding ceremony, and Seth was left alone amidst the police investigation and media frenzy. This was not the first time that such a thing has happened to Charley, 15 years ago, her parents were brutally murdered at their family home, with Charley hidden inside the wardrobe.
The story was well written by Kerry Wilkinson, this was the first time when I hadn't minded the wavering timelines back and forth, multiple pasts and present. Most of the book revolved around snippets of the past and what Seth underwent in those days when the wife disappeared and then reappeared after 7 days with a black eye.
The plot was treated differently, the pictures of the past, real and artificial were vividly described. The entire book gave the vibe of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. There was this glimmering transparent wall through which I could see the entire story as it occurred.
Landscapes changed, people changed, viewpoints changed, needs changed, but the greed remained constant. I could guess the plot when Charley returned back, the breadcrumbs were quite clear. That niggled me. If the plot could have been more twisted, it would have made my heart leap out.
Overall, I had a fab Sunday afternoon, reading this book. Quite a thriller!!
I am a massive fan of this author's books and his stand alone psychological thrillers that have been released have been brilliant - and having read this one for me it is possibly his best yet!
I loved the plot for this story, the suspense that is created is great. I did guess quite a bit of the plot but there were twists still that I didn't see coming and it was a completely additive read that I read from start to finish the day it landed on my Kindle.
The characters in the story are brilliant, Martha was my favourite character and I can imagine that she was fun to write about too, Charley and Seth were great as well and with them having different backgrounds and personalities it that made the story so deep in places and really intense! There are quite a few people in the story too that I strongly detested too...
Five stars from me for this one - I loved the writing style, it had a great pace and was really well executed! Cannot wait to see what he releases next!!
This was a great book to read. The wife has a secret and boy is it a big one!!!!! There was great build up through out the book to keep you guessing what this secret is and to keep you fully interested in the story. The author does a great job of weaving characters in and out so you never truly know what this big secret is until the very end.
It's suspenseful, it's intriguing, it's riveting, it's gripping, it's mysterious and while this is a thriller, it was fun to read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be checking out other books by Kerry Wilkinson.
My thanks to Kerry Wilkinson, Bookouture, and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A celebrity couple was brutally sloughed in their house, their thirteen year old daughter Charley survived by hiding in a her room. She didn't see what happened downstairs and couldn't describe the murderer. In spite of top priority the murder case has never been solved and the murderer never has never been caught.
Fifteen years later Charley, a media-shy person, who lives a quiet normal life disappears from her wedding. Is her disappearing connected with the killing of her parents? Has she been kidnapped or are there other reason for her disappearance? Does a family curse that the media keeps yelling about really exist?
The story goes on between the past and the present, between Seth's POV (a newly-made husband) and different characters, revealing bit by bit more information to the tragic events in the past and more details to Charley's character, inciting speculations and guesswork.
A well done psychological thriller that kept me guessing and wondering about the events and motivations. Probably not a book you'll remember for a long time, but an entertaining and enjoyable read for NOW.

The Wife’s Secret by Kerry Wilkinson is a psychological thriller.
First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
My Synopsis: Seth Chambers marries the love of his life. At his wedding reception, his new wife disappears. Although they had known each other for a few years, Seth discovers he doesn’t know her very well. Yes, he knows her tragic past involves the murder of her parents when Charley was only 13 years old, and that she was raised by her sister Martha. He knows that she doesn’t get along with her brother. He knows that her parents had been celebrities, and that their murderer has never been caught. He knows that Charley gave away most of her inheritance. Other than that, he knows he loves her, and can’t quite figure out if she left him willingly, or has been abducted. Either way, why?
My Opinions: Although this is a fairly fast read, I found the story moved slowly.
I liked the way the author told the story through different points of view and different timelines, which made it interesting, and kept you motivated to get to the next chapter. In this way we learned about Charley’s life from childhood to adulthood, and about her family. We felt the anguish Seth was feeling as he worried about his missing wife. That being said, however, I felt his reactions were lifeless. I would have expected a little more anxiousness, maybe anger at the police (who we didn’t really hear much from), maybe some outrageous act like going out to look for her himself….. Instead, he sat at home and waited. It didn’t feel right.
I did like the ending, and overall the book was good, the plot interesting, and the twist well-placed. For me, It just lacked a little excitement.
This is the first book I have read by this author, although I know he is a fairly prolific writer. I guess I have some catching up to do.
This was an immediately intriguing suspense thriller by an author who is new to me, but has an impressive back catalogue, that I look forward to sampling in future. While I’ve read a lot in this genre this year, I still didn’t guess what was going on, and I also liked the main story being told from a male perspective for a change. Despite the fact that my husband is also called Kerry, I had assumed that the author was female!
Seth Chambers is trying to find his wife, Charley - not so unusual, but this is their wedding day, and the ceremony is over - a little late for cold feet?! His confusion turns to panic as she has disappeared without a trace, and the following day, he can do nothing but go home and wait, and worry. Could it be something to do with Charley’s tragic past? - her famous TV personality parents were murdered in their home when she was just 13...
This is told from various points of view (in 1st person present, but this didn’t bother me as much as usual as it works well here) in both past and present. Seth came across as amiable but a bit feeble - for a vet he doesn’t seem terribly bright - but he loves his wife and his frustration and fear were well conveyed. I loved the scenes and relationship between Charley and Martha. I don’t want to spoil this by saying more, except to recommend this as a clever original English psychological thriller.
My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a voluntary honest review and apologies that it’s a bit late. The Wife’s Secret is available now.
Great story. Great characters. I enjoyed it, but there wasn’t any surprising twists in my opinion. But I loved it. It was well written and I look forward to reading more from this author.
The Wife’s Secret is the second book I’ve read written by Kerry Wilkinson and I’m fast becoming a fan. The story begins at the reception of Seth’s and Charley’s wedding – only the bride is nowhere to be seen. Charley Willis has a past. Her parents were brutally killed when she was only 13 years old and she managed to save herself by hiding in a cupboard. Has the killer finally come back to correct his mistake? Everyone, including Seth, wonders if the Willis curse is true and if Charley is the next victim.
The story unfolds through differently timelines. In the present, Seth tries to figure out who his wife really is, and in the past, we get to know the Willis family, the super-successful star parents and their three children. I couldn’t literally put my Kindle down. Undoubtedly, one of the best thrillers I’ve read recently. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
OMG, what an excellent story. It made chills running down my spine throughout the whole book. There was constantly an atmosphere of suspense, secrecy and anticipation.
The author puts you on a time machine and zaps you frequently to and from the past.
The story is heartbreaking and although I had figured it out towards the end, it did not reduce the reading pleasure in the least.
Oh yes, speaking about the end ..., but I will leave that for you to discover when you devour the book and believe me, you will. 5 stars.
Thank you, Kerry Wilkinson, Bookouture and Netgalley.
I requested this arc because it was written by Kerry Wilkinson and I've very much enjoyed his Jessica Daniels stories. This is not a procedural but a stand alone "psychological suspense thriller." This sub-genre is not my favorite these days as most seem to be fairly predictable stories and include the requisite irritating "clueless" main character / victim. Based on the characterizations I found in his Jessica Daniels stories, I requested this one anyways.
In The Wife's Secret, I found the story to be fairly predictable (as expected) and mostly well-paced (it did get a little draggy in parts). The characters made up for most of that. The main ones were fully fleshed out and all felt very genuine in their feelings and reactions to the situations they found themselves in. While I liked most of them, even the "evil one" was well developed with no extra evilness thrown in for the "shock value".
Overall, a nice solid read and recommended for fans of psychological suspense.
Wow this was an amazing book that gripped me from fist page to last. Still thinking about it! This author is one of my favourites and he just keeps getting better with every book. This book was a fast paced roller coaster and I loved it so much, even more so as it made me question everything I thought I knew multiple times. Still thinking about the characters. Stunning and absolutely brilliant! One of my favourite books of the year!
