Zombies! #4

Nowhere To Hide

Rate this book
Welcome to Book 4 of the Zombies! series. This series is meant to be read in order, so if you haven't read or listened to Books 1- 3 yet you're in for a treat!

In this addition to the series the world becomes a more complicated place for Kyler as he's asked to do things that are gradually eating away at his sense of right and wrong. The people closest to him start to question his loyalty as he fights to maintain his self-respect on an increasingly slippery moral slope. A state away Kelly and Randy have no problem breaking rules and would gladly take a running leap onto a slippery slope if needed to save their girls form the clutches of the Brotherhood. For reasons they have a hard time understanding that group of thugs just keeps throwing resources at trying to capture them.

Living in a lighthouse as a child led me early to a love of reading. Despite what you may have been told the life of a lighthouse keeper's son is not all Glamour and Parties. There's a lot of time when there really isn't much to do besides wonder if the fog horn has finally made you deaf or watch your dad pull fishing lures out of different parts of people's bodies. (You'd be amazed!)

Two of my favorite houses growing up!

description

I read. I read a lot. We had a 'reading caterpillar' around the room at my school where every time you read a book you put your name on your color paper and hung it up. The teacher had to give me two colors because it was looking more like a worm than a caterpillar. I devoured CS Lewis before moving on to Tolkien. Reading has continued to be a big part of my life. I've moved into Alternative Realities by guys like Stirling and my guilty pleasure is Zombie novels. I can't seem to get enough of them!

I like reading about the extremes people will go to to survive. The ones who can rise above the rest and keep their sense of right and wrong. When humanity crumbles around them these flawed heroes stand tall and try to make their way. They go from struggling to pay the phone bill to struggling to keep themselves and others alive. I like to see how this either hardens or breaks them. I think these stories speak at a very primal level. I enjoy the journey greatly as I get to tag along seeing how the survivors manage and how the experience forges them into something more than they were.

I look forward to sharing the journey with you all!

Sincerely,

R S Merritt

Book 4 is out! It's an exciting time for me to see the adventures that played out in my head being bound and dropped into a book. The story evolves as Kyler gets dragged deeper and deeper into a world he doesn't want any part of. A world that keeps coming for Kelly and Randy a state away who are struggling to keep their children alive. Like trying to keep up with a toddler in a Zombie apocalypse wasn't bad enough they managed to get into a blood feud with the militia group controlling the region they're trying to escape from.

If you've ever stood on a sea wall when a hurricane is rolling in and watched the waves as they roll back out to sea colliding with the incoming ones you have some idea of what "a day in the life of" looks like to the survivors. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Also, if you happened to call in sick from work on that day you watched the hurricane roll in with the intention of going surfing in that hot mess of an ocean make sure you check first to see if you're going to end up on the news.... Whoops...

[The] Zombies! series continues to excite and enthrall. 'Nowhere to Hide' is engaging and showcases the well-developed characters strengths and weaknesses under incredible direst (physically and emotionally) while trying to not only protect their personal well-being, but those of the even more vulnerable children. Fear and exhaustion often got the best of them and made clear/good decision making that much more difficult. Very exciting and at times quite emotional. The zombie action was intense and always a thrill.
Many thanks to narrator Mike Thomas for the intense, believable and unique voice he gives to each character.

Blown away!

If I could give 6 stars I would! I think this was my favorite book so far in the series. The twist and turns have me up way past my bed time. No spoilers but damn and double damn on some of the chapters. I don’t want it to end yet I can’t wait to see how it all pans out. On to 5th and thank you for writing such phenomenal zombie series!!!!!!

Great series but…

My only complaint regarding this series is the number of typos. Otherwise love these books! I have been reading through them pretty quickly.

Above normal Zombie horror!

I am going to hate for this series to end! Love the good characters and hate the bad guys. Not wasting any time going for book #5.

Brilliantly written plot that you can't put down

Brilliantly written plot that you can't put down this series of books are not your typical Zombie apocalypse book and the plot and story link between the characters as they navigate through this new world where they will live or die in moments if you make the wrong decision

book 4 the edge of your seat action continues

I’m addicted. It is exciting and thrilling and intense. Some typos but who cares. The characters could be me or anyone just trying to survive. Excellent storyline and characters.

The book is a fun, fast exciting read. Lots of fun, except the thugs are a little to “stupid” to me. In a world with almost nothing left, i cannot see the continued pursuit of Kelly and Randy.

I do however love Kyles adventures!

Great book in highly addictive series

I stumbled across the first book in this series day before yesterday& just now finished book 4 as I really got caught up in the story and involved in following the characters as they do their best to survive the zombie apocalypse while finding &then keeping their family safe from not just the zombie threat but other humans willing to do anything to inflict their ideology on everyone else. Truly an awesome read & I just hope that I don't have too long a wait for the next title in the series.

Who decided who was" Bad".

Are the zombies getting smarter? Or are we just getting more exhausted. We better watch them closely and not take anything for granted.
I don't know how much more Kyler can take using people as a distraction. What if these people are not really that bad.

Good

The storytelling is good, it flows very easily. The characters are very likable and have developed skills which help them survive in a world gone mad. Action and excitement abound this tale.
