Before you start this book, please realize it is the ninth one of a series. While it could be read as a standalone, I would recommend you start with the first title and read the series in order to understand all of the back story of the main characters. They are also very good and if you do start reading them you will be hooked for the entire series as I have.

The author does his usual nice job of getting you into the story, making you feel as if you are right in the middle of the action and it is another page turner that kept me up really late in order to finish it – I was dragging the next day. I picked this up for $3.99 on my Kindle and certainly received more than $3.99 worth of entertainment value out of it: if you enjoyed the previous novels in this series, I am confident you will enjoy this one, also.

The Tangled Web We Weave is book eight in the McRyan Mystery series by Roger Stelljes. Young woman dies, Sally is upset with the nominated person for the supreme court, and Michael McKenzie McRyan was loose and bored. When Dara Wire asks him for help with a case in Richmond, Mac said yes. The Tangled Web We Weave readers will go on a rollercoaster ride with Dara and Mac to find out what happens.

I enjoy reading books in this series. I was looking forward to reading this book due to the long period between seven and eight in this series, and I was not disappointed. Wow, the rollercoaster ride Roger Stelljes took me on, which kept me glued to my chair until the very end. I love Roger Stelljes portrayal of his characters and how they intertwine with each other throughout this book. The Tangled Web We Weave is well written and researched by Roger Stelljes. I like how Roger Stelljes described The Tangled Web We Weave settings, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.

The readers will understand the process of appointing a judge to the USA Supreme Court. Also, the Tangled Web We Weave readers understand the pressures on a relationship when one member works in a high-pressure job in the White House, and the other is in law enforcement.

I recommend this book.

Another winner featuring Mac McRyan and wife Sally. They're investigating the murder of a crooked detective and the trail leads to the Supreme Court. Kept me turning the pages as little by little Mac and Sally piece together what really happened. I always look forward to this author's work because I know it will be highly entertaining.

Latest enter in the Mac McRyan series. A strong plot with a sinister adversary makes this entry a solid 4.5. The story had good pacing as Mac and Dara start to dig into the mystery. A suspected dirty cop is murdered and his disgraced partner is suspect. Mac and Dara is pulled in when the disgraced cop’s attorneys is run of the road. This attorney is also Dara’s future sister in law.

As with all of Mr. Stelljes’ novels, the book has a quick pace. There is a good mix of cop thriller and political intrigue. If you are a fan of Mr. Stejjes’ other books you will enjoy this one. I am interested to see where the series go from here. I felt like a couple of possible hints were dropped as to what Mac might do next, but we’ll have to see if Mr. Stelljes goes down that path.

Overall well worth the read.

Another awesome story. I've been an avid follower of Roger Stelljes' Mac McRyan series. Every one has been a great read and this one is no exception. I think this one is probably the best one yet. Once you get into it, you’ll have a hard time putting it down. Even with Mac and Sally living in DC for Sally’s job, he still gets pulled into investigations. This thriller has so many twists and turns. Just when you think you’ve got everything figured out... And he’s like a dog with a bone when he’s trying to get to the truth. If you like reading Vince Flynn and John Sanford, 2 great Midwestern authors, you won’t be disappointed if you add Roger Stelljes to that list.
Please keep Mac's stories coming. Already looking forward to the next one.

Ripped From the Headkines

This is definitely one of my favorite series in its genre. This book is basically ripped from the headlines as Stelljes makes the case against money in politics, unqualified judges appointed for political favor, media moguls behind the scene influencing congressman. This is all in addition to a rousing story where good triumphs over evil.
McRyan and crew continue to be fascinating characters as they address and cleverly bring justice.
Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for McRyan, Sally, Dara et al.

I love this series!

I started the MacRyan series with the first nixed set of books 1-3. After that I was hooked. I have read all. The new one "Tangled Web" is as good as the others. I follow River cause he is consistent. He is GOOD!

Webbed Weave

I wish I could get inside this author’s head. I do not understand how he can weave all of the story’s events so effortlessly. The story brings intellect of the characters as well as heart stopping action. This is one series I will buy without reading any blurb.

A Boy Scout

When I first began reading this novel it seemed as if it would be chock full of interesting characters involved in all sorts of literary mayhem. Then by the mid second chapter I recognized that I had before me another book from a series I grew to be underwhelmed with. I am afraid that the goody cast of characters, led by Mac McRyan, would likely belong better with an ensemble including Alice Greatweight Goodyshoes, or maybe put up for sainthood. Sure. It would be great if all of our law enforcement community were as pure in mind and spirit as these characters. Bad enough, but we are often reminded of their goodness in each chapter. I stuck with the story, hoping for more realism that never arrived. It was an adequate perusal, but nothing more than that.

You Won't Put It Down

I have always liked Mac, Dara, Sally and the Judge. Mac always hooks me in and then I can't put the book down. This book, especially, was a great ride. The author has fine tuned his main characters., so when the reader starts it' s like riding a roller coast ..... You get to the peak and drop and the ride is on and you hang on to the ups and downs until you reach the. Then you say to yourself, as you did to all the others, "Man that was the best book yet."

Another book with several unexpected twists

Great book and I am always Stelljes biggest fan. As usual one wonders how all of the evidence and hypothesis will come together and one can never predict where it all goes or how it ends.

The only constructive feedback from me is a very long time was spent character and plot building so it moves slowly at first, but about 1/3 of the way through it becomes a page Turner.

a nicely woven mystery

⭐️ - awful, probably DNF

⭐️⭐️- didn’t like but not terrible, actually finished it

⭐️⭐️⭐️ - it was ok, passed the time

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - good story, good writing, entertaining, just not great

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - great, could not put it down, excellent writing and story

Almost five stars, just not quit all the way though. A puzzler for sure, although the protagonists always seem to jump to the correct conclusions.

Good enough to keep me reading.

For me, this took a little more time to get into. Thus the four stars. It seemed to me that the author was using big words that were way over the top. I knew what they were but were not necessary to convey the story line. It did pick up and finished with bang. Stelljes is one of my favorite authors but do away with the superogatory. words.

Fantastic, quick-paced thriller. Typical Stelljes, good character development, story line/plot, and the facts keep you guessing. I thought the car chase and boat sciences were repetitive from FireBall, but I did not mind too much due to the story.

Can hardly wait for #9. And if I did not have 80+ books on my “to read” list, I would check out his new series.

Suspense and Intrigue

When you have one of the sharpest minds helping to figure out what happened more than a decade ago when a young college student was murdered but it was covered up too easily, an innocent man in prison, the suspense and intrigue follows Mac as he does everything he can to make it right.
