Reclaimed: Finding Your Identity After Marital Betrayal

Rate this book
Stephanie Broersma lived a charmed life . . . until the day she discovered a deleted online conversation between her husband and another woman. When confronted, he confessed to a ten-year addiction to pornography and multiple affairs. Yet even as her world crumbled, Stephanie refused to allow Satan to turn her marriage into another dismal statistic.
Reclaimed: Finding Your Identity after Marital Betrayal is Stephanie’s story—from revelation to reconciliation and all the pain and confusion in between. But it’s also a guide for those whose lives have turned upside down—a raw and honest look at the emotions, decisions, and difficulties women face in marital betrayal. It’s a collection of stories shared by real women, a journal with leading questions to help put words to feelings, and an encouraging compilation of Scripture verses to give strength to the weary.
Stephanie’s goal in sharing her story is that you will realize that you are not alone. That you are not without hope despite the chaos and pain around you. That you will find healing from the shame, anger, and brokenness that overwhelms you. That you will gain confidence as you rebuild trust and self-worth. And that you will walk out of this fire with your head held high, giving God the glory for the amazing, reclaimed story of your life.

What a painful, and yet needed book! This book has got to be the best resource I've ever seen as a healing self- help book that is honest, practical, and full of Biblical truth. This book comes from the author and her husband's own experiences as well. The book's chapters were not long, and would be great I feel too for counselors/family therapists to use with their clients. The reality is that porn addictions are rampant, and affairs a lot of times result from that, and the Christian community is not exempt from this temptation. This book really focuses more around relationships that are attempting to stay together through the betrayal, so it would be best for those looking to repair their marriage. I felt the book was very compassionate, and just really answered the questions to give you some real Biblical and practical truth to use to navigate such a hurtful, emotional experience. The book also doesn't put all the responsibility on just the woman to make peace, which I feel in the past many resources have seemed to lean toward. I can't say I agree with everything, but then again, I have not experienced this so I don't come from a place of experience. This book really is a great spiritual/self-help resource to check out.

Excellent devotional to use as a walk through when going through a difficult season in marriage.

What an honest and open, raw book this is. It is one of the few books I’ve read on the beauty of redemption after betrayal.
Although the focus is on sexual disloyalty, this book can be relatable for most any problem that comes up against a marriage, family and or friendships.

Being honest and open in a relationship is so key.
The devil wants to destroy all relationships, but with God, we can be made whole again.
Grace.
Love.
Redemption.

All possible when we trust God to heal.

Excellent ministry, excellent book!

This is an excellent devotional book! The personal touches are warm and welcoming. The applications, questions, and prayers are beautiful. The beauty of this devotional can bring healing and restoration into the midst of dark times. The author has filled a much needed void by prayerfully writing and releasing this book. Would definitely recommend to anyone going through this stage of life.

This book is one that opens the readers' eyes to what can happen when you least expect it. One is living a life that they consider one that is what God commands, when their world is completed shattered by reading one online conversation between a husband and another woman. I could feel the anger, confusion and hurt that this poor woman felt. Immediately, I thought, I would be out of that house so fast and never see or talk to my husband again, BUT....that is not the process that Stephanie works herself through. She chooses a way much more Christlike.

This book is an open and honest guide to deal with such devastating betrayals in such a way that it leads to a beautiful feeling of redemption. Let's face it. Anger is a horrible, ugly thing that causes people to say hurtful things and then isolate themselves from the world in order to not suffer the same again. All of us have said things in anger that we don't really mean! One must be careful of the actions you choose and allow healing to take place.

This is a guide to reclaim happiness and complete healing. The book deals with a thirty day plan, however can be used chapter by chapter, extending that time.

A well written, tasteful story of life changing events and using them to once again feel happiness.

An impressive testimony to the power of complete faith and trust in God when betrayal occurs in marriage. Written in a chapter-a-day fashion, it’s likely the reader will read and re-read it several times. This book is a valuable resource for navigating the process of grieving and healing from the devastation of marital betrayal; a process that deserves time and intention. Those who have experienced the nightmare of marital betrayal will appreciate the author’s candor and down to earth suggestions, questions and prayers. This is a resource I wish had been available to me earlier in my process of recovery from such a betrayal. I will be sure to make it available to others I know who face this trauma in their lives. It is essential to know you are not alone or peculiar as you come through the process from devastation to restoration. Highly recommend this timely and accessible resource.

I’ve always found books that give you something to read every day for a month to be extremely helpful for me. Between work and school it’s often hard to find time to read a lot, so having a small amount each day makes is easy for even those of us who are really busy to make it through a book like this. I think books like this are extremely important because it’s hard to know how to respond when situations like this arise. Now, I’m not married, but this book has given me a good insight on how to help others who are struggling with this in their marriage. I loved how open and honest the author was. I think one of the best things about this book was that the author said, “All I had was my faith in Christ—and as I looked to Him to me, I had no idea what the next steps toward healing would be . . .” What a wonderful testimony. While we may not know the next step in our own struggles, we can always lean on Christ.

I received a copy of this book from Redemption Press via Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

" Reclaim" is a book that deals with two very pain subjects, pornography and martial betrayal.

The author has written a very honest book about her feelings when she found out about her husband's affairs and his addiction to pornography.

This book is divided into 30 days to help a wife who finds herself in this predicament. There is a prayer to pray and a list of scriptures for each day along with questions.

I think this book is a needed tool for every church library because pornography addiction and adultery is on the rise and I believe we all need to be aware of it and not put our heads in the sand and pretend it can't happen to us.

I received a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

Reclaimed

Reclaimed is a book is a 30 day Personal Journey of the authors after Marital Betrayal. She shared pages from her journal and other women journals. At the end of each day she had questions for Reclaimed reflection, Reclaimed truth and Reclaimed prayer. On day 11 she discusses forgiveness. I liked the way she breaks down six points of forgiveness. Forgiveness is about our attitude, not their action is a really good point.

The author story is very encouraging. I love how she is sharing her story through her book.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher through Celebrate Lit. This book review is my own opinion.

This book was so helpful during the uncertain times when big decisions were yet to be made. Although Stephanie shared that her marriage was eventually restored, there is validation, love, and comfort for both women whose marriages end and women who choose to stay married. This book encourages women to keep their eyes on the Lord during the healing journey. The questions and the Bible verses at the end of each chapter offer encouragement to reflect, pray, and journal. This book is a really great resource for any woman who desires true heart healing.

Broersma takes readers on a deep healing journey following the pain of betrayal. Within its pages, the presence of Jesus is unmistakable, as His spirit of forgiveness and non-judgment flows through each line, beautifully expressed by this gifted, courageous author.
Broersma's strength and grace shine through her words, creating a safe space for those grappling with their own pain. She embodies the essence of compassion and understanding, reminding readers that shame should not be a burden they carry, nor should they allow darkness to triumph over their lives.

The narrative is crafted with an abundance of love and care, as Broersma draws from her own experiences to offer solace and guidance to others in similar situations. Her honesty and vulnerability serve as a beacon of hope, making readers feel as though they have a supportive friend by their side during one of life’s most challenging moments. The constant reminder that they are not alone in their struggles is a powerful theme that permeates the text, encouraging individuals to release their burdens and turn to God for healing and strength.
