It's Christmas in New York and a time for Happy Ever Afters as well as new beginnings...
It’s Thanksgiving and friends are gathered at the Inglenook Inn in New York City to celebrate together.
Cleo and Dylan finally have all their preparations in place for a perfect Christmas Eve wedding, but will it go according to plan?
Kaisha is not only Cleo’s employee but a good friend too, and she’d do anything for the woman she sees as more of a sister than her own. She would never hurt Cleo or let anyone else ruin things for her friend, so Kaisha has put her own long-term dreams on hold and for now she’s determined to see to it that Cleo’s wedding to Dylan goes without a hitch.
Finn hasn’t been in touch with Dylan for years but he couldn’t ignore the request to be his best man, and so he’s back in Manhattan. But so are his parents, and there’s enough animosity, anger and underlying grief to power the entire city. The only family member Finn respects is his grandad – he’d do anything for him, even if it means spending time with his parents.
Kaisha’s first impressions of Finn are that he’s brash, unreliable and someone to avoid, but when he gets a job at the Inglenook Falls Christmas tree farm and they find themselves as roommates, will he surpass her expectations? Or, will he let everybody down at the last minute and prove Kaisha right?
Finally Cleo and Dylan are on their way to a long-awaited Happy Ever After. But when wedding plans fall apart, they may just end up getting a day they’ll never forget.

Many Aussie’s celebrate Christmas in July wanting to experience a traditional Christmas dinner on the coldest month of the year, well, I’m not going as far as making a Chrissy dinner but it is giving me the excuse to read some of my Christmas books this month and as it’s wintry here in Australia it’s the perfect opportunity to read books with a snowy vibe and winter scene.
Christmas in July read #5
6th instalment in the New York Ever After series.
A beautiful written tale featuring warm characters and a magical setting. Helen Rolfe writes exquisitely, and I simply cherish her books.
Oh yay! I finished another series. Not going to lie, this one was cute - just like the previous books.
In it, you will meet Kaisha and Finn. They didn't have the best start once they met each other because Finn was drunk. Yet, they got pushed into a situation where they kind of had to see one another. Every. Day. Mostly because he was living at her house until their best friends wedding. It started off kind of rough between the two but it didn't take long for sparks to fly either.
With every book in this series, drama was bound to happen. It came in some pretty interesting ways because it mostly revolved with their own family drama. Kaisha with her sister and Finn with his parents. Not going to lie, it was all pretty entertaining and there's just something about the Christmas magic that brought them all together.
In the end, the wedding was really cute and I'm glad to see that everyone found their happily ever after. For now.
Cleo and Dylan are in the midst of wedding preparations. His longtime best friend, Finn, arrives in town early, gets temporary work at the Christmas tree farm, and lodges in Cleo’s above-store apartment in the spare bedroom. Kaisha is also living there, and, at first, the two have an uneasy relationship. She is not sure Finn is dependable, and is fearful he will spoil the big day. Much of the story revolves around their growing attraction, but the main thrust of the story is the brokenness of Finn’s family and his grandfather’s efforts to reunite the estranged members. It’s a thoughtful and delightful tale, filled will hope and forgiveness. Misunderstandings are finally unearthed and hard feelings are put aside. This well written story will capture your interest from beginning to end.
This series just does not disappoint!!! If you want to embrace the holidays with a great series that makes you have al the feels then this is it! Rolfe knows how to capture the feeling of the holidays in New York and the suburbs in Connecticut as if she grew up there all wrapped in between a little romance. She has you wishing you were walking through a holiday market with a hot cider and a warm hand to hold!
What an absolute treat of a book! I wasn’t expecting to read book 6 of the New York Ever After series until next year, so I was absolutely ecstatic to find it was available and on Kindle Unlimited too! I adore these lovely Christmas stories set in one of my favourite places! 🗽❄️ The characters are like catching up with old friends and I enjoyed finding out about Kaisha who has been Chloe’s right hand girl in The Little Knitting Box shops as discussed in earlier books. We meet a new character Finn, Dylan’s best friend and soon to be best man at his upcoming Christmas Eve wedding, and first impressions certainly don’t do him any favours! However we slowly discover all is not how it at first appears and you find yourself caring about him and his situation. Some very emotional moments that makes you really appreciate your own family, and are told in such a tender way that you completely feel for all those involved and it allows you to understand more as to why they have behaved in the way they have. As always reading this wonderful book has left me feeling uplifted and full of the Christmas spirit ❤️❄️🎅🏼
Finn is a loose cannon and having him at the wedding as the best man may well be a decision that Dylan may come to regret. Kaisha believes that her friend and employer Cleo has anxieties enough about the wedding that Finn does not need to add on to. Each encounter with Finn adds on to this perception, he is rude, drunk and unpredictable. When Finn ends up her flatmate, she is determined not to give him a chance to ruin Cleo's special day.
But appearances are deceptive as both Finn and Kaisha discover. Can a dysfunctional family heal their differences as Finn asks himself? Can betrayal from a sister be forgiven and can they move forward, questions Kaisha? Can broken hearts heal and find solace in each other. Finn and Kaisha have a lot of ground to traverse before they can get to the Christmas Eve wedding of Cleo and Dylan.
Another fabulous book in this series. We finally see Dylan and Cleo marry, after all the waiting and even when snow stops plans they are given a most magical day by their friends. We also get to see more of Keisha who has been working in the Little Knitting Box and who’s become great friends with Cleo. This time Keisha’s story entwines and we discover her back story and watch as she gains a new friend and eventually boyfriend. Just hope there is a book 7 in this charming series. It’s such a cosy, winter read and I thoroughly recommend you read it.
It’s a really cozy, super light and very clean hallmark movie-style romance. I loved it as sheer entertainment. The bonus message about families loving and forgiving each other never hurts. I would love to see where Finn and Kaisha’s relationship goes, because I don’t actually think they’re right for each other, since there was no closure on Finn’s alcoholism.
This book is great from start to finish, it wraps around you like a warm cosy cover! I loved it! Be warned you will need a box of tissues for this one, both happy and dad years will flow.
I’ve really enjoyed the New York series and read them all continuously. I’m a sucker for a happy ending and Christmas and these books were perfect and made me want to visit New York at this time of year so much.
Another excellent read! Helen writes her books in such a way that you are there in the storyline watching the story unfold! A very emotional read at times. Loved it!
I loved it. I adore the whole series. Book 4 and this one hold a special place in my heart. I just love when characters has to overcome something like mental illness and broken families. In a positive way, not to angst-y and dark. But with love and passion. I just love the audiobooks. The narrators in this series is done perfectly and smoothly. Well done Helen Rolfe. ❤️
4⭐ Wonderful conclusion to this delightful series. I really liked how the focus was on Kaisha & Finn, but all the major characters from throughout the series played their parts.
