Summer With My Dad's Best Friend

Rate this book
Hot, sticky summer heat... ice cold strawberry popsicles... showing off my freshly 18-year-old-body in a too-tight bikini...
I wanted my last summer vacation before I went off to college to be special.
And when my family ended up crammed together in a lakeside cabin with my father's long-time friend, I got my wish.
Before my vacation was over, I was going to experience more than I ever imagined:
Hungry stares.
Rippling, tan muscles.
My first kiss. My first... everything.
If only it hadn't been with my dad's best friend.
And when everyone finds out what we've done, our lives are going to change forever.

This is old-school Penny Wylder! You said you wanted more older-man younger-woman romance, and you're getting it. If you loved Her Dad's Friend, my break out hit, you'll definitely love this hot, sizzling summer story! HEA and NO cheating included!

ARC received by author in exchange for an honest review!

This was so hot! I mean all Penny Wylders books are hot, but this one? Burning hot!

It was a quick an enjoyable read with low drama. Which is welcome frpm time to time!
As the title says it's with an age gap, a pretty large one. I know lots of pepple like that, for me it's not neccesary, but a little age difference is fun. On love doesn't stand an age stamp!

I guess it's 3,5 stars for me. It's short and very hot. But they never used a condom and never even talked about it, and that fact bothered me a lot.

If you’re in the mood for a quickie...which I obviously was...then Penny Wylder knows just how to hit that spot. SUMMER WITH MY DADS BEST FRIEND was exactly as expected; sickly sweet, super sexy and seriously over the top...but hey, I loved it.

Getting Caught is worth the Risk

With summer finally here Jenny and her family are headed to the lake and the cabin her family has there.

Jenny’s plan to lose her virginity before heading off to college has been weighing heavily on her mind. Her two best friends Annie And Tulip are all gung ho to help her. Only problem is Jenny’s not attracted to all the hot young guys they show her. No this girl likes older men.

Arriving at the lake with her family she spots her two friends and their equally sexy divorced dad. She’s noticed Ben before he’s an attractive man. But the instant lust that shoots through her is not expected.

Ben can’t help but notice the grown up young woman before him. All he can think is it’s going to be one long hot summer.

It’s going to be an effort for these two keeping their hands off each other. And though they try to fight the attraction its going to be futile after that first touch.

Sneaking around, losing your virginity to your dads best friend was never going to be kept secret for long. What happens when these two are caught?

Accusations and tears. But acceptance also. A new author for me.

A quick read. Heat factor is 10+.

Penny Wylder writes a typical older man/younger woman story, but this time we get an 18-year-old Jenny who has had the hots for her friend's dad Ben who is 44 years old. But Ben has always been married until now. And now that they are stuck in a cabin together for weeks with the whole family will they have to face their emotions that are coming to the surface or will they be able to ignore them?

Summer with my Dad's Best Friend is a sweet story, and I enjoyed it.

I actually really liked this book. I love a good older man/younger woman romance. But how are you going to sleep with a virgin with no talks of condoms and no pulling out and there isn't a surprise pregnancy anywhere? They went years without a baby?? There wasn't any talk of birth control either.... and.... I understand "your first time" is different for everyone but who the hell takes it from behind their first time out the gate?

Looking for smut and found it! Dad’s best friend troupe. She shares a cabin for the summer with her best friend and her best friends dad. Nothing like a 26 year age difference and a virgin.

Alright I admit it. Age gap romances are my jam lol. I can’t help myself... I definitely enjoy them and they are definitely my little guilty pleasures in the romance world. It’s not for everyone ... but I’m down with it and every once in a while I’m in the mood for a steamy age gap trope.
And Penny Wylder? Well she definitely delivers. This isn’t her first age gap story and she definitely has a catalogue with quite a few others if that’s what your interested in.

Penny is a great author for me because I love her writing and she offers up a ton of novellas. Sometimes I just want a quick romance that runs through angst, hot and steamy sex, a little drama and then gets all folded nicely into a HEA package that leaves me happy. Penny offers that and her books are always a fun read for me.

Could this book have been longer and more properly developed? Sure. Did I notice a few inconsistencies? Yep. Did I really care in the end? Nope. It’s hot AF and was exactly what I was looking for when I had 2 hours to kill and wanted to end those two hours with a resolved storyline.

Jenny is 18 and her dad’s best friend Ben (who also has a daughter who is Jenny’s BFF). Ben is 44 p.s. he’s recently divorced and spending 3 weeks with his kids at Jenny’s cottage with Jenny’s family. The two quickly see eachother differently and flirtations and some pretty sexy games and touches follow suit. It’s hot. And a little dirty. And i loved it. I love the whole “oh this is wrong... but I just can’t help myself” type of story.

This was a perfect book for me. Had the smuttiness I felt like reading after coming off 2 months of being solidly into HR books. Penny’s books totally do it for me and bonus! It’s all on kindle unlimited :)

This novella is about Jenny, a young girl who falls for her Dad's best friend Ben when they are vacationing at a cabin for the summer.

This was a nice, quick read. The plot was pretty predictable and nothing really revolutionary but it was still a great little story than can be read within an hour.

Let me preface by saying I've read many Penny Wylder books. I feel like every other week she's coming out with something new. Usually it's a fun short read, most of the time I love them.
Not this time.
Besides the father's best friend falls for the daughter trope, I read these and knew what I was getting myself into.
It's a short read, I didn't expect too much plot other than them trying to fight it - which didn't take long. No problem.
Jenny is a virgin at 18, okie dokie still not a problem, but damn she either has balls the size of Zeus or something because her actions towards Ben are like...wow. Are you sure you're not a virgin girl?
So let's say she is, props to you holding it down and taking what you want. I wish I had them at 18.
But here's where I start getting a little annoyed, Jenny is described as a blonde, there's a raven-haired female on the cover.
The sex scenes were good but it just took off so fast, their relationship that I didn't feel like they really gave two craps to begin with on if it bothered anyone. They talked about it but...yeah not really.
I feel like if you are busting out books left and right, that's great for us readers who love the author's previous work. But if your neglecting them in ways like this, then I start to feel like we're just cranking them out just because. I want an author to feel passionate about their writing and readers to love their words not just throw them out there.
While this may be minimal to others, I notice it with the amount of books I've read. I'd rather pay attention to an author with passion than production.
This all being said, I wish I liked this book more. I really do. But not at this level of writing. I'll still read Penny but not if the books continue to be this way.

Summer hotness in all its carnal glory.

This little story is like a summer fantasy when you feel free, wanton, and in need to let go and indulge in naked activities. Two friends are spending their summer holidays in a cabin by the lake with their families, but Jenny’s plans to lose her V-card to a young boy are derailed when her friend's father proves to be roo much of a temptation.

I loved the feeling of summer freedom that crackles at the start of this novella. The chemistry between Jenny and this silver fox hunk is scorching-hot.

Forbidden and clandestine, their encounters fill the pages with heat until strong feelings and their families' reactions put a dent in their light fling.

I think this age-gap story handles very well both the excitement and the emotional attachment. There are sensual scenes, but also time for adjustment from parents and friends, and a gorgeous epilogue filled with happiness. Very, very nice. And that cover is so yummy!

In the mood for a forbidden romance with insta-love? You found it with this totally hot, age gap romance.

Jenny always crushed on Ben. She knew nothing would ever happen because he was her best friend’s dad, he was married and her father’s age. But then he got divorced and what seemed impossible, became the only thing she wanted and she wasn’t holding back.

Ben was single, but surely wasn’t looking for a relationship after being burned by his ex. Especially not with his daughter’s best friend. Once Jenny made her interest known, Ben couldn’t hold back.

One of my favorite things to read is forbidden romance. What’s more taboo than falling for your best friend’s father, who also happens to be your father’s best friend? It sure makes for an incredibly sexy read. Enjoy!

This book was everything! I absolutely loved getting some of what drew me to PW in the first place: a hot, quick and steamy read that keeps you turning the pages.

If you like a hot older man/younger woman story this is definitely for you. Ben and Jenny are explosive together.

Jenny has a crush on Ben, has for a while and when Ben finally realizes that Jenny is no longer just his best friends daughter or his daughter's best friend... things get a whole lot of hot and heavy. There's a little bit of drama and some "hmm I wonder what they're going to think about this" moments but all in all each page is full of Ben and Jenny falling in love.

Absolutely adored this book :)

This was a hot and sassy romance that will set your Kindle on fire. A major age difference in that she was eighteen and he was forty-four. Top that off her dad was his best friend and his daughter was her best friend. A little complicated, wouldn't you say. But Jenny and Ben are perfect for each other and their chemistry was explosive. The characters were likable and well-developed. I loved how the families accepted their love and the lake house became a special place. A HEA and no cliffhanger. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to review.

Summer With My Dad's Best Friend by Penny Wylder is a steamy, fast-paced, page-turning romance read that has all this deliciously tempting heat, forbidden angst, sparks flying between the much older Ben and younger Jenny. Things get really steamy and taboo between young Jenny and older Ben. The chemistry is intense and amazing between the main characters, the plot is fantastic and the whole premise is totally believable, not to mention the sizzle is off the chain sizzlicious good!!!

Hotter than an August day and generating more sparks than fireworks, I thoroughly enjoyed Jenny and Ben's book. This older man/younger woman romance is filled with tension, drama and emotional turmoil. These two have many complications to deal with along the way to a HEA. An excellent read. I am freely posting a frank review.

Very quick read about an 18yo girl starting a sexual relationship with a 44yo man, them falling in love within a 2 week period, his kids finding out (one of his daughters is older than the 18yo!), and them having to come clean.

The question that I had after reading this was why did everyone around them accept their relationship so fast? Like... whhhhyyyyyyy.

Not bad but disliked the dual POV

Definitely not as good as Her Dad’s Friend, but not a bad step in the right direction. I haven’t read Penny Wylder for years, but had just re-listened to Her Dad’s Friend on Audible and remembered how good it was. I think the characters were more fleshed out in HDF, and you got a better feel for the different personalities and how intertwined the relationships were. The characters were by far more one-dimensional in this book. I also think the dual POV didn’t help the story, either. The more I read, the more I dislike dual POVs because it does not necessarily mean you are getting to know each character better. I loved how HDF did give one of the end chapters to the other MC and didn’t go back and forth between the two. It was tastefully done. I think the May-December “tabooish” stories would benefit overall from getting away from telling both sides of the story. There’s a better build-up of “will they/wont they” and what’s gonna happen if you aren’t giving away the other person’s thoughts. Just my two cents. Solid 4 stars, will likely be a re-read, but wont make my top ten list as far as this genre goes.

6 / 10 ⭐️
New Adult / Age gap / Taboo / Erótica / Novela corta

Forbidden, steamy, heart-eyes

Oh. My. God!!!! This book was right up my alley, so steamy and passionate I can’t even. It was fast paced but it didn’t feel like it (and I say that in the best way. I love how it didn’t feel rushed.

I finished it in one sitting, a real page turner. My eyes couldn’t read fast enough. It was forbidden, taboo, age gap deliciousness and I’m in love with Ben. Their chemistry was OFF. THE. CHARTS. Dad’s best friend AND best friend’s dad was genius.

If you love passionate steam, possessive older man, love galore. Then this one’s for you. You won’t regret it! I’m Bensessed (heheh).

5 stars! I will read this baby again.

I probably would have rated this book higher if I hadn’t read the book Forbidden Roommate by the same author. There were glaring similarities with the storyline, a twisted ankle and needing carried back to an empty cabin, the MC is best friends with the guy’s daughter and he is friends with her dad, even down to the ex-wife living in Italy and being a gold digger. Even some the dialogue was exactly the same.

2.5 stars for this one. This book was just okay for me. I get a slight creeper vibe when the heroine is only 18. May/December romances are cool but that always irks me a little bit. Other than that typical Penny Wylder book. Hrat kevel was 🔥🔥1/2.

Quick read

Very annoying the main character is blonde yet the cover model is not.. wish that could have been changed. It was jarring.
