This book is one of its kind. It is hard for an atheist to find a philosophy book that doesn’t contain superstitious believes and irrational religious arguments. This book fills that vacant space. It talks about the stoicism of Tamil culture.
This book addresses how moral and nature based philosophical views for life would eliminate the need for religious superstition and the perils that come with it. Author quotes Sangam literatures and Greek philosophy to prove the above mentioned point.
I liked the narrative style of this book. It is written in simple but at the same time classical Tamil. This is both refreshing and easy to read. I really recommend this book!

This book is a short introduction to stoicism vis-a-vis the Dravidian movement. The authors sums up the essence of stoicism and draws parallels between the Greek school of thought and Dravidian thought. His choice of anecdotes and examples from the lives of Anna and Kalaignar are apt, educational and interesting.
Before reading the book, I was wondering how the author is going to reconcile the fatalism that is inherent to classical stoicism. There is a chapter about fatalism in the book and it does a good job in defining fate as that which occurs inevitably in nature as opposed to the man-made occurrences.
The book will serve as a wonderful starting point for anyone who's interested not just in stoicism and its Dravidian ubiquity, but for those who want to live a better, fruitful life.

Tamils philosophy and Stoicism a comparison study
This book has opened the door to study philosophical work of Tamils in a different view. While reading this book, my mind was excited, because, It was a long time wish of mine that compare DMK Government (Anna and Kalaignar rule) of Tamil Nadu with Thirukural. This books has done it.

Yes, I agree with the author that we need to take our Tamil philosophy to the next level. This is an enlightening book. Kudos to Mr Ravishankar for taking the pains to put forth such an informative piece!! The parallels drawn between the philosophy of Stoicism, Thirukkural, Anna and kalaignar's lives/works/services are phenomenal.

Unknown perception of our leaders
I came across this book after few quotes in fb about it. It is a very nice beginning to see such kind of illustration and comparison of legends life with ancient philosophers. It has shown me different aspect of thought processing and designing our life style. I wish the author to write more books in future.

The book titled "Duty, Dignity and Discipline" which is Peraringar Anna's famous quote contains a brief introduction to Stoicism. Parellely it compares the Dravidian leaders and their thoughts with Greek philosophers. The book clearly portraits how Dravidian leaders led their life following Thirukkural and their sky high thoughts. Though it is tough to follow, we should try to follow some of the thoughts given here. All the best author Ravishankar Ayyakannu!
