A man named Kraskin has suddenly appeared in our world. But he is not alone. Something, temporarily amorphous, has followed him. Kraskin is not familiar with this world but has a name that he has recently learned. He walks to a convenience store. He borrows a phone and calls a Professor Robert Trimball. Not long after Kraskin’s arrival, a vicious dog begins attacking farm animals. Sheriff Barry Banes organizes a search for the animal, but it is unsuccessful. Weeks later a young boy is abducted. With the animal attacks and the missing child, the sheriff is under pressure to unravel the mystery and save the town. Meanwhile, Reverend Ezekiel Powell basks in the sudden power he has achieved, and the strange light that he assumes is the work of God. Along with his group of followers, he hopes to bring his brand of Christianity to one town at a time.
I was born in Alabama but spent my years as a toddler up to age 13 in Baltimore, MD. Then my family moved back to Alabama.
After high school, I joined the Air Force, where I spent five and a half years. Two and a half of those years I spent in Misawa, Japan.
After the Air Force, I went into the electrical business. I became a foreman and received a Georgia state license.
I started writing books several years ago. It was a rocky start. I made some mistakes. But I learned.
As of May 2nd, 2025, I am offering a complimentary eBook, "The Nexus", to everyone who signs up for my newsletter. This is NOT Nexus. That is an older book that is no longer in print. https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/s...
As John Constantine says "I suppose it could be liberating to take a leap of faith, to shrug off the burden of proof for the promise of hope. It takes trust to turn darkness into light. And those who trust risk putting their faith in the wrong hands. For there are those who pray for you and those who prey on you. And no matter how careful you are, sometimes you just can't tell the difference"
The Entity is an unsettling, thought-provoking thriller that blends supernatural horror with small-town paranoia and moral tension. Gary M. Martin introduces an ominous premise with confidence, allowing the mystery to unfold gradually while maintaining a persistent sense of unease. From Kraskin’s strange arrival to the unseen presence that follows him, the story establishes an atmosphere that is both eerie and compelling.
What makes this novel particularly effective is its layered narrative. The parallel threads the unexplained animal attacks, the missing child, and the rise of Reverend Ezekiel Powell converge in a way that explores fear, belief, and the human hunger for power. The entity itself is terrifying not just because of what it does, but because of how its presence amplifies the darkest instincts of those around it.
Martin’s strength lies in restraint and pacing. The tension builds steadily, and the horror feels earned rather than exaggerated. The Entity works as both a supernatural thriller and a commentary on blind faith and authority, making it a memorable and unsettling read for fans of intelligent horror.
… it is still an entertaining read. There are a few logic problems, but the story is one that can withstand them. Basically, a college professor encounters an inter dimensional traveler who needs the professor’s knowledge and skill to return home. In so doing, a portal is created that engenders strange side effects on those that bath in its light. To say anything more would spoil the story.
I found this book extremely interesting a lot of night up reading the next chapter or two. The storyline and characters were so real I will miss Justin and Terri. The author provided such fascinating subject and description, this story could be real. Thank you and I certainly will be looking for future books.
