True stories of encounters between humans and the black, brown, grizzly, and polar bears of North America contain scientific information as well as descriptions of violent attacks
This book proved to be an all-around fascinating read. I originally picked it up as general way to learn about the physiology and behavior of bears, but I was quite surprised to find this book also serves as something of a cultural history of bear hunting. The issue of trophy hunting is hotly contested and it's an area I myself feel quite divided on. With that said, East creates and develops a piece that is both comprehensive and informational regardless of your stance on the matter. In total, this book proves to be an interesting read, managing to successfully encapsulate a very different cultural point in time.
