Hello! Thank you for stopping by. The short story is I was born in Toronto, Canada. When I was 16, my family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and that is where I met my wife, Bev. We've been married for 43 years and share our home in Southwest Missouri with 4 dogs, 3 cats, 8 chickens, a herd of goats. We have 3 sons and 12 grandchildren that keep us hopping. I've been known to ride my motorcycle in nice weather, play golf in nice weather, and tend my garden in nice weather. In bad weather, I prefer to stay inside. :) Thanks to the support of you, our readers, I've been able to devote full time to my writing. Bev does our cover designs. We hope you our books are enjoyable and you'll let us know. Please feel free to contact us at: jdalglish7@gmail.com or on Facebook God Bless, John & Bev
Again John Dalglish has written clean mystery detective story. Interesting characters and locations he included in the story make me want to visit Atlanta someday. The story had some emotional feelings because it set at Christmas time few days before and this detective is on his first case as a solo detective. It ends on Christmas Eve. which is an emotional time for anyone and to have to deal with the close of this case on that day is tough for the characters and lends to the emotional read this book can have in parts. His personal life and his need to make a difference along with his promise to the daughter of our victim to solve the case. Can't give too much more because this is one best read with minimum reveal to the story. They are short in length compared to a Novel. He does a good job in character development in a short story. I don't personally think they are really all that short. But in comparison to a Novel they are. In my opinion our author is getting better with every book and experience he has gained over the years he has been writing these stories. Thanks also to his wife for her patience and contributions to the covers. My suggestion if you like good clean mysteries ..police procedurals and a good read just get these books. This on e is Number: 9 The last of the series until he writes another. John Dalglish has been in a sort of pause in writing due to moving into new home. See on his fb page or his Book pages. Peace. https://www.johndalglish.com/ https://www.facebook.com/DetectiveJas...
This is book number 9 in this series and it was my favorite so far. A homicide detective working his first case on a solo basis. And its a dozy! A brutal murder with no apparent suspects and very few clues. I read this one in one sitting over the course of the evening and well past midnight. Couldn't put it down until I reached the conclusion.
Following the detective as he doggedly tried to put together clues and motive while running into one brick wall after another, and then starting to doubt and question himself was intriguing. But finally a small coincidence trickered what had been niggling his brain cells and provided the one clue he needed to unravel the mystery.
I love that these stories are set in different cities, the descriptive landmarks that give you a feel for the area and make the characters come alive. And also the inclusion of the personal lives of the police officers makes for more interesting reading. A clean read without graphic language or sexual scenes just proves that clean reads don't have to be boring!
Atlanta Homicide (The City Murders Book 9) by John C. Dalglish 🎄🏙️🔍🎧
Atlanta Homicide (The City Murders Book 9) by John C. Dalglish 🎄🏙️🔍🎧~~ I read Atlanta Homicide on Kindle while also listening to the Audible narration, and the opening immediately captured my attention. A mother and daughter return home after an evening of holiday celebration and make a terrifying discovery that will forever change their Christmas. Newly assigned homicide detective Sean Sparks is called to the scene and suddenly finds himself responsible for solving his first murder case. 🎄🔎 I enjoyed watching Sean handle the pressure, uncertainty, and responsibility that came with his new position. He had to prove himself while still remembering that real people were suffering behind every piece of evidence. The Christmas setting created a striking contrast with the darkness of the crime and made the story especially emotional. The Audible narration strengthened the suspense, while reading along on Kindle helped me follow Sean’s investigation. 🎧📖 This was a compelling clean mystery with good pacing, believable emotions, and an investigator worth rooting for.
I have to say that I do enjoy all of John Dalglish's books that I've read, and that's a LOT of them. The thing that drives me crazy is the errors, or inconsistencies, or just plain unbelievable pieces to a story. And not just by this author, his are very minimal. I believe there was more than one to reference from this book, just one is standing out to me at the moment though. At the end, the detective brings in a father and son for interviews, keeps them in separate rooms and the father is never brought up again. Really? Is he still sitting in the interview room? Granted he is of no consequence to the outcome, but wasn't he upset with the line of questioning (trying not to ruin the ending). Wouldn't he maybe have called the boy's mother or driven up to confront her? I don't know, seems that thread could have been tied off better, for me anyway. Still an overall good read.
While I do like John Dalglish’s books, this was not my favorite. I think it had to do with the guilty party. I do realize the guilty party cannot always be who we want it to be. As always, I am so thankful that I don’t have to worry about what I will read since Mr. Dalglish’s books are clean suspense. My sympathies were certainly with the lady whose husband was killed. That has to be hard even if the marriage was in jeopardy.
I listened to the book and the reader wasn’t very good with women’s voices. Even the young ones sounded like little old ladies.
I received a copy of the book from the author. Review comments are my own.
I have enjoyed this series very much, but this book had a problem that bugged me: The detective had the daughter and mother taken to headquarters for an interview and had the daughter's car towed. When the women left, no transportation was provided. Later, the daughter is driving her car, but she never got possession of it. A minor thing, perhaps, but it took me out of the story. I will still read any new books in the series, but I hope the author is more careful of details.
John writes with caring and you like his main characters? Why? Because they have integrity and a moral compass. He bills his books as clean— they aren’t preachy or dull but aren’t full of sex and overt violence, just for ratings. Very good books. This one was set in Atlanta where a detective gets his first homicide case as lead. You see him slowly figure it all out and solve the case.

I enjoy John's books. They are clean, with great easy-to-follow plots, and include interesting characters. Atlanta Homicide is all that. The reader is taken through the investigation process. Very good read.
The books in this series are the best I have read in some time! Billed as clean suspense, they deliver! No cursing, no sex and no gratuitous violence! Just pure suspense, wonderful characters and believable plotlines. Can't wait for the next in this series and I plan to read all of John Dalglish's work!
Relationships, husband and wives, mothers and children, homicide detectives and victim’s’ families are all examined in this mystery and the surprise ending when the case is solved.
I just finished the series and enjoyed them. Each book had slot of interesting details about each town in them. They were very written. I can't wait for book number ten.
This is a story about a detective's first solo case. It was an interesting story how Sean puts everything together to figure out what happened and who the murderer is and why it was done.
I have enjoyed every one of these mysteries!!! Each on is unique and shows the particular's of every city! I recommend these nine and I'm looking forward to number 10.
Guess these stories just get better every time here we go with a very intense situation and our detective from Atlanta worked it out thru trial and error but the end was one to surprise yo ciao from Bobbie and her dad...
Another good read mystery in the series of City Adventure. Kept me interested page to page. Looking forward to the next in this series which is said to be released this year.
While I found the stories fairly straightforward and well done, they brought to my mind the old TV show about Joe Friday, “Just the fact, Mame.” An easy read.
