Eighteen-year-old Isaiah and his older brother Zechariah are professional hunters, earning their living culling and capturing some of the most dangerous predators ever to walk the planet.
When an out-of-control T. rex breaches a tourist resort Isaiah and Zech must act fast to save lives.
Little does Isaiah know that a testy T. rex and three packs of hungry raptors will soon be the least of his problems. A much-regretted New Year’s Eve misadventure is about to cause a very different kind of breech—and change both their lives for good.
Wow! What an incredible tale! Breach, Breach, Breech! Those are the names of the three chapters. And each has a very significant reason. But first some back story. This is the third story released in the unSPARKed series. We had to wait almost three years between book 1 and book 2. And less than 2 weeks for this book to come out after book 2 was released. That is both good and bad, for after reading this book readers will be desperate for book 3 which should tie this story and parts of book 2 together. We are told that a book 3, Panic! Is is coming soon, but with Corinna soon is a relative term. There are currently 5 books listed in her works in this volume as ‘Coming Soon’ and some of them have been there for years. But, that complaining aside, all of her books I have read have been excellent, and more than worth the wait. Let’s get back to this story.
This story is set 18 years before the events in book 1, Drive!, and book 2 A Truly Raptor-ous Welcome. The three chapters focus around the same two brothers. But could almost be three separate short stories. But together they pack a significant punch. I have read both the other books in this series multiple times and will do the same with this one. But in some ways this story is much more intense and heart-wrenching than either of the others. This story is a page turner and was incredible hard to put down. From a young man taking responsibility for his mistakes. To saving the lives of most of the people at a resort. There is a lot of action in this story. A T-Rex breaches a fence at a resort and from the looks of it three packs of raptors got in. So, 18 year old Isaiah and his older brother Zechariah are there to clean up the mess. They meet an interesting priest, and a scared lazy guard. And they work long and hard. They do it not only for the pay, but they do what is right. They live by a set of rules their mother left them. And soon Isaiah has some very tough decisions to make. Decisions that will change his and Zech’s life for the rest of their lives.
In a world where Dinosaurs rule the wild again. You can either lived SPARKed behind electrified fences in cities, farms, or even a resort. Or you can live unSPARKed in a Habitat Vehicle and hunt the dinosaurs, keep the numbers of predators down. Isaiah and Zech have lived in the Hab-Vi for 7 years now and have found the life that suits them. Even if some huge changes come their way.
This book and this story are GREAT! It is a fun series to read by myself, and with my younger two children. My son loved this book and the series. His eyes lit up when he found out there is a fourth story coming soon. I have read nearly everything that Turner has written, or at least published, and they are all great stories. These ones are good for middle grade readers right up to seniors, or those approaching or in their retirement years. A great story in a great series. I’ve said it before, and I’ll likely say it again the unSPARKed books are FANtastic!

Another edge-of-your-seat installment of imminent dinosaur attack! Breach, however, gives us the backstory (the WAY backstory) on Josh. I enjoyed learning more about the lifestyles of dinosaur hunters, but more so getting to know these characters as a pair of brothers wrangle with the consequences of a drunken night. Consequences that will change Isaiah and his brother Zach's lives forever if they have the courage and conviction to assume responsibility.
Set in a future world, Breach! is a story which takes place after scientists have brought dinosaurs back to roam the world, and humans are the ones who have to live in cities, towns, and even farms protected by electric fences, or risk being eaten by predators. (If you have watched Jurassic Park, you will be able to have good pictures in your head as certain events take place with the dinosaurs!)
Isaiah and Zech are young adult brothers who hunt dinosaurs for a living, and also protect communities and save people when areas have been “breached” by the killer creatures. They live alone in a vehicle equipped for their job. They also are virtuous, living by rules their mother taught them.
In this book of the series, 18-year-old Isaiah has also done something as an indiscretion that ends up with very serious consequences. He steps up to do the right thing, but it isn’t easy, and will affect his life permanently.
The young men also meet a brave priest, who is featured in other stories as well. (There is a short Christmas story in the anthology book “Gifts visible and invisible” in which he is also featured.)
This was another story I didn’t want to stop reading. I look forward to reading more in the series.
Having read all the other installments in this fantastic dinosaur dystopian series, I was eager to finally read the prequel to discover the origin of one of the important characters and was NOT at all disappointed! The POV character is sympathetic and realistically portrayed, and his plight added to the already tense and suspenseful situation regarding a fence breach by a T-rex in a crowded resort. It's genius how the author combines an action-packed story involving deadly dinosaurs with a strong pro-life message, but it works wonderfully well, drawing out every emotion on the spectrum within a relatively short span of pages. Anyone who loves dinos, like I have my entire life, needs to read all the installments in this series. Though this one can be read out of order, I encourage you to begin here and read everything in chronological order, if possible. Even if you jump around, like I have, everything will make sense (and make you want to re-read the whole lot again and again). Prepare to be immersed in an unforgettably believable dystopian North America!
I’m not typically a fan of dinosaur books, but, hey, it’s Corinna Turner and she can make anything good, right? So, as reluctant as I was to read anything resembling Jurassic Park, I picked up Breach on the reco of a friend. Ok, this is so much better than Jurassic Park, it’s just ridiculous. How does she do it? It’s nothing like Jurassic Park. Jp will seem like a distant, tragic memory of a story trying, and failing miserably, to even come close to how cool Turner’s series is. I think it’s because Breach actually has real MEANING, not just some seriously flawed “message” about, well, let’s not go there. And I am coming in in the middle of the series? That’s exciting! More of them to read and I can’t wait. Five stars, I’d give more if I could.
Corinna Turner has created a unique new series that YA readers will devour. Her Unsparked series can best be described as a faith-based Jurassic Park. Breach! is actually a prequel to the previously released books Drive! and A Truly Rapturous Welcome. All these books are short little segments of a larger story. I find this unique format quite interesting. In Breach! we meet the dinosaur hunter duo of Zechariah and Isaiah. These brothers have a dark and troubling past that we learn about throughout the book. But what drives this story is a new complication in their lives. What is so unique about this book is that Turner combines several genres that you don’t expect to find together. There is adventurous suspense, dystopian fantasy, and a pro-life message. These aspects blend together perfectly to create a fascinating, fun, and life-affirming book.

‘BREACH’ was such a exciting, and thrilling novel. It took me in such a wild ride! I wouldn’t normally like books that involve dinosaurs and such, but Corinna Turners writing truly drawed me in, and captured me in the first chapter! As I read, I felt so pulled and touched by Isaiah’s fervent passion to save his child. This clearly shows the other side of pro-life issues. Some men DO CARE. And Isaiah didn’t know what was going to come, all he knew was that he had to save his child. No matter the cost. I thank Corinna Turner for her faith & passion in wanting to share this Pro-Life perspective. I truly believe that from her creativity, she can spread this important message, and not bore you.
