In the final installment of Rorie and Cecily's story, these reunited lovers are looking forward to a quiet, predictable life when unexpected news changes the course of their future forever.
This book concludes the story that began in A Road Through Mountains and continued in Your Name in Lights.
Don't miss the conclusion of this touching trilogy about fame, fortune, and finding a second chance at love.
Originally from southern California, Miranda now lives in New England and writes heartfelt romances and romantic comedies featuring witty and charmingly flawed women that you'll want to marry. Or just grab a coffee with, if that's more your thing. Before becoming a writer, she spent way too many years in graduate school, worked in professional theater and film, and held temp jobs in just about every office building in downtown Boston. We finish Cecily's and Rorie's journey in this lovely book. I read it in a day and until 5:30 a.m. until I was so tired my eyes crossed. Finished it when I woke up. You will enjoy all 3 books #1 A Road Through Mountains, #2 Your Name In Lights and finally this book. Enjoy the ride! 5 stars!!
An enjoyable story and a decent, if somewhat sentimental ending to the series. Most of the time the story flowed quite naturally, although there were a few occasions when it felt a bit over contrived, but it was still a good read.
When I got this book and started reading it I immediately knew I had read it before. Having liked this book the first time around I continued reading about Rorie and Cicily and their trials and roadblocks they encountered throughout their story. I appreciated the authors ability to handle this 20 year love affair even though the two women were separated. I found the style of her writing made all the emotions in this story feel real to this reader. I experienced the heartaches and the happiness and all of the ups and downs on this roller coaster ride of feelings.
The "Love's Encore" series is truly a great set of stories. The characters have such fantastic depth and realism, including ones you might expect to be more shallow, like Cecily's mother, who came into her own in this book as a fully rounded character with heart and flaws and plenty of goodness deep inside. Through the twists and turns of their lives together, this final installment of Rorie and Cecily's story takes us to a truly satisfying conclusion.
If I could, I would give this a 3.5. I really love the relationship between these women, and I think the author did a great job wrapping up this story line. However, as a reader I grew deeply resentful towards the character Cecily who was born into privilege, married into privilege, and opportunities seem to just fall into her lap. From starring in a small regional theater, she lands a plum Hollywood voiceover job, and then from there works on a star-studded drama, and get's nominated for an Emmy! Really? It just cut down me liking her a bit. Otherwise, I recommend this trilogy.
Fifty Percent Illusion wraps up the story of Rorie and Cecily nicely. I especially enjoyed the scenes with Cecily's mother, as their relationship was the one in the series that, honestly, needed the most help. I highly enjoyed reading this series, and hope that Ms. MacLeod chooses to use Sapphicsticated in a future books series.
A fine ending to Ceci and Rorie's love story. I appreciated the succinct story telling without getting bogged down in unnecessary details. The parents were adorable and Margaret's glimpse of the scene being shot was priceless. The situation surrounding Bryn, Rorie, & Ceci becoming a family didn't take up too much space. Miranda MacLeod wrote a beautiful story that should be read by more people.
I'm not sure why but I had trouble staying focused while reading this story. The communication between the main characters was lacking. The chemistry was not as much as I expected. The love scenes were not great. I continued reading because I wanted to know what would happen in the end. I loved the ending.
Rorie and Cecily are making their new life a dream come true. Then a woman shows up claiming to be her mother. This leads to the discovery of her real mother and reunion with her father. When they discover a niece from a half sister they are stunned. Running a business, making a family and living together is a challenge and a blessing. Wonder series.
Another great series from Miranda. I loved the MC’S. You definitely need to read all 3 books in order to follow their journey from college to their HEA. It follows their lives through all the trials and tribulations that life throws at you. I would definitely recommend these books.
Interesting seeing how these two deal with the obstacles that life throws them. There were a couple of times that Cici irked my nerves, but she always redeemed herself. Nice ending to this love story.
This book had some surprises that I didn’t expect. The ending of Rorie and Cecily on a ranch was not how I had envisioned them to spent their golden years. It was a fabulous ending though!
This was the best series of 2021, I just fell in love with the characters. I laughed, cried and fell in love with the journey. I will be reading the series again😍😍
Charming premise with fun moments. Fifty Percent Illusion offers a quirky, storyline with a touch of romance and humor that fans of her work will recognize and enjoy. The setup is clever and unique, blending elements of illusion, identity, and personal growth in a way that’s both entertaining and accessible. That said, while the book has its fun and engaging moments, it doesn’t quite hit the emotional or narrative highs that MacLeod is capable of. A few plot turns seemed rushed or overly convenient. There’s definite charm here, but the story sometimes struggles to balance its whimsy with emotional depth.
