Two artists meet again amid mysterious wolf shifter dangers. Can they survive and find love?
Eric Holbrook lived for the perfect shot. That unique moment where the planets aligned, the lighting was crisp, and the angles spoke for themselves. Growing up in Galena, small-town America, he was struggling to break free of, not only a future of hometown newspapers, but the shadow of his ex and her happy existence married to his boss.
But his chase for the perfect captured picture drove him toward secrets he was never prepared to find facing an uncertain world of Shifter, danger, and a love he never saw coming.
That laugh. That seductive smile.
How could he say no?
When Misty Miller moved to Galena in her teens, she found refuge in the clay, the wire, and the metal. After years in Chicago building her art career, she’s back, and all grown up. She never figured that she would settle down there, not for a lifetime, but anything to keep her mind on her work.
But what about when her high school crush literally lands on her front porch, holding a secret that she could never have imagined? Through the fur and fangs she finds herself clawing to keep him grounded.
Will lust and discovery be enough to see through the discourse and fear that the shifter world brings?
Or will Eric’s drive end up being the death of more than just his career?
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
Photographer Eric Holbrook is in a rut. His high school sweetheart, Lizzie broke his heart and married his editor. He dreads going into work for fear of having to encounter her. To make matters worse, everyone in their small town knows.
When Eric catches wind of rumors about wolves in the forest, he decides that a picture of one of the wolves is the change he needs. He enters the night woods armed with his camera hoping to take the photograph that will change his life forever.
Sculptor Misty has returned to her hometown to escape the bustle of city life in search of a fresh start. The memories of her childhood and high school come rushing back. She laments that she never had the courage to confess her affection to her high school crush, Eric Holbrook, who was dating her best friend, Lizzie at the time. She ponders what Eric has been doing as she goes about her routine, teaching piano and sculpting.
Never in Misty’s wildest high school fantasies did she imagine that a naked Eric would show up on her doorstep bleeding and babbling about wolves. Concerned for Eric’s well-being, Misty invites him into her home and nurses him back to health. Can this be the second chance she was looking for?
Finding the Wolf continues the world building of Wild Temptations, focusing on the middle Holbrook brother, Eric and Eric’s high school friend, Misty as this installment’s alternating narrators. The story moves quickly going from Eric’s and Misty’s lives apart to them temporarily living together as Misty nurses Eric back to health. It’s a short book but it retreads some of its exposition. For example, when we first meet Eric, he talks about Lizzie, their break up, and mentions her artistic friend, Misty. Then Misty tells her friend over the phone that Lizzie dumped Eric for his boss. And finally, Eric and Misty talk about how Lizzie left Eric for his boss. Since the book was so short, this sort of restatement isn’t necessary.
Eric and Lizzie hit the same story beats that Christian and Libby did in Wild Temptations where the man goes into the woods and gets attacked by a wolf, then needs to be nursed back to health by the woman. I feel like a shifter’s inner wolf gets stung by Cupid’s arrow after he’s scratched/bit which makes him fall madly in love with the first person he sees after his attack because after a handful of conversations, the two are in love. To be fair, this is a standard romance trope but this time, there was a pre-existing relationship to build upon, so it feels less out of left field.
Eric’s wolf shifter timeline is fast tracked this novel. Misty like Libby, is frightened by her love interest turning into a wolf but quickly vows to help him uncover the mystery of how and why it all happened. If I saw a man into a wolf, I’d be a little freaked out. My other issue with this book is that Libby had an inkling of what was happening but didn’t manage to convince Christian to go help and didn’t insist on staying.
Continuing a larger world story line from the other book, the war between the dark wolves and Christian’s pack is happening in the background. We don’t get much progress on that story line so I am hopefully that’d change in the next installment. Overall, Renee Carr writes well and the characters are likable. The narrative while repetitive at times is still engaging. I look forward to seeing the war with the dark wolves spilling over as more of a focus in later books and I am curious to see how the last brother gets turned into a shifter.
There are a lot of questions to be explored, namely, how Eric is different from Christian since he was turned by a dark wolf and what the overall implications of this will be. Fans will be delighted as Carr once again delivers an upbeat romance about a newly turned werewolf finding love with the woman of his dreams.
I’d like to thank Book Sprout and Renee Carr for providing me an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I received this book as a gift of an advanced reading copy. Having finished the book I would like to give an honest opinion of what I read.
Such a different take on a werewolf story and I really enjoyed how this was written. The story itself flowed so smoothly giving both the past, and present to the main characters and how they time apart from one another both changed them is some ways but not in others.
Eric came back to his hometown after college with a degree in photo journalism, and he began working for the local paper and also doing some freelance work. He had dated his high school girlfriend Lizzie all throughout this time until the day she told him that she was breaking up with him to be with his boss, Dennis the edtior of the paper. She also just happened to tell him personally after she had already posted her engagement to him in the newspaper the day before.
Misty had come back to her home town after leaving the hustle and bustle of Chicago. She is an artist by trade; a sculpture to be exact and the noise of the city was interfering with her concentration. She had several big project she was working on; one being for one of Chicago’s libraries. She bought a house just down the street from her parents, and they transformed the garage into her work studio and lab.
Misty had moved to the town with her parents when she was fourteen. She became friends so to speak with Lizzie because their moms were friends first. She hung out with Lizzie and Eric all of the time. At one point she kind of had a crush on Eric but she didn’t act on it. She was considered a little strange because she was so into her art and no one could understand that. Well except of Eric but he wouldn’t let on about that at the time just to keep Lizzie from going nuts on him.
Now things are different; they are older and Misty has just found Eric naked on her front porch in the middle of the night. Taking him into her home she helps him and nurses his injuries. Together they try to piece thing out, and get a huge surprise. Will Eric do something stupid that will jeopardize everything he just found or will the tow of them be able to find a future together.
The story continues in book two with Eric, Christian’s younger brother and his journey through the change from being scratched and turning into a wolf. Be prepared for lots of steamy moments and action between the wolves. You won’t be disappointed with reading this book.
Eric is a photojournalist who is ever on the lookout for that perfect picture. He has been trying for months to get the perfect picture of a rare bird, the Upland Sandpiper. He is out in the conservatory and has the bird lined up, just waiting for the bird to lift its legs and suddenly something startles it from the bushes and the bird is gone without getting any good shots.
He decides later that night to go out there again when it’s dark and quiet to see if he can find the wolves that the town people have been talking about. He has his camera on hand and his back against a tree. Then he sees the black wolf and it’s suddenly attacking him. Eric vaguely remembers what happens next but he wakes up in the lounge room of Misty.
Misty is a girl he knew from her being the best friend to his girlfriend Lizzie at the time. He grew up with Lizzie but often wished that Misty was his girlfriend in high school. Misty is an artist and she was in her garage working on her sculpture when she heard loud noises outside the garage, then there was a loud thump against the wall and Misty went out to investigate and saw bare foot prints on the ground. When she looked further, she found Eric lying naked on her doorstep.
Misty takes care of Eric and the next day is shocked when Eric changes into a wolf before her. Things get exciting and also steamy between these two and before they know it, Misty is in danger, but the good wolves come to the rescue and she is saved but the black wolf escapes. But after the attack, Eric realises that Misty means the world to him and they get married and have their happily ever after.

This is Eric's story, the middle brother. Eric wants to do more with his art than just nature pictures for the local paper. To top it off, his high school girlfriend, Lizzie, got engaged to his boss then broke up with him. She was a wicked witch and it worked out better for him anyway.
Misty is an accomplished artist that moved from Chicago back to her hometown for some quiet to work on her art. She and Lizzie were friends in school and she had a huge crush on Eric, but they weren't close.
After Eric is attacked he makes it to Misty's house before he passes out. Misty and Eric are finding out how much they have in common and they are getting close and just make a perfect couple. But, all is not as easy at it sounds. They are still in danger and don't even know it.
I loved the dynamic that Eric and Misty have and how easily they fit into each other's lives. The only thing I wish I could have seen, is Lizzie finding out about her ex boyfriend and ex best friend making such a wonderful couple. I am looking forward to the next book. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.
Eric came back to his hometown after finishing college with a degree in photo journalism. He got a job with a local paper while he also did some free lance work. He hears rumors about wolves being in the forest and he wants to get a picture of one in order to do something different. However he got more than he bargained for when he went into the forest he was attacked by a wolf and barely managed to get away. He ends up on Misty's doorstep and when she finds him she takes him inside to take care of his wounds. While with Misty Eric shares that his girlfriend just broke up with him for his boss and why he went into the forest. Neither Misty or Eric were prepared for what that trip in the forest would do to him. Can Eric deal with what's happened to him? Will he give Misty a chance?
This is a great story that will draw you in from the first chapter and leave you wanting more with the last one. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

ONE HOT AND HEAVY TREAT!!! Holy crap! Renee hit pay dirt, racking 'em up and laying 'em out, throwing this gem into the eye of the storm, breaking it down, tossing this baby into a tailspin with shocking impacts. Blundering through the trials and tribulations, sharp twists, sleek turns and thin lines, lighting it up, testing our characters in ways they could have never anticipated. Divvying up delightful, well rounded scenario's, ramping up the thrill and adrenaline, with such intensity and precision, blazing this gem to life brilliantly. Battling the drama, turmoil, intrigue, danger and suspense, while tension spirals, fusing this gem together seamlessly. The chemistry and attraction is intense, white hot and explosive. Awesome job Renee, thanks for sharing this incredible jewel with us.

This is the second book in this series and the story was just as interesting and engaging as the first book. Eric is a photographer whose life is in a rut. Eric's ex girlfriend is married to his boss and when he hears about a pack of wolves, he decides to take pictures of them to help his career but awakens on Misty's porch during the transition into a wolf shifter. Misty a sculptor had a crush on Eric during high school so when she finds him on her porch, she helps him but the shifters don't want Misty to know about them which endangers her life. With the help of his brother Christian (from the first book) who helps Eric about being a shifter. Will Eric save Misty? Will the budding romance between Misty and Eric bloom? This story has drama, romance, with likable characters which I loved reading and reviewing this ARC I got via Booksprout.
This is the second book in The Holbrook Brothers Shifters series. While it can be read as a stand-alone book, it is better appreciated afterf reading the first book. It does not contain a cliff hanger.
Eric is a photographer and Misty is a sculturist who grew up in the same small town. Misty discovers Eric outside her home one day after he was apparently attacked by a wolf. Neither of them knows that the wolf was a shifter intent on creating another shifter and Eric possesses an inherited gene that makes him susceptible to this transition.
The story is enjoyable as was the first book. I got the impression from the first book that Dark Wolves is a pejorative; thus, I was surprised to read one of them refer to himself by the same term. Other than this, I had no qualms about the book.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Finding the Wolf by Renee Carr is the second book in her Holbrook Brothers series. I thought this book started out a little slow, but once I read through the first chapter, I realized why. This is a great addition to this series. I loved that it features a lost chance at romance that is found again. This sweet and spicy story has lots of action and some emotional moments. With a very artsy flavor, I really enjoyed the sculpting and photography angle enhancing the story. A fun and satisfying read. (Mature Readers Only Please)

Finding the Wolf is the second book in the Holbrook brothers series. I recommend you read them in order. Unaware of his wolf DNA and unaware his brother is a wolf shifter, Eric goes into the forest to try and capture the perfect photograph for a competition. He gets attacked and stumbles onto the porch of an old schoolfriend he has not seen in many years. Misty has just returned to her hometown to complete an artist's project when her old school flame Eric stumbles onto her porch in the middle of the night. Misty seems to be either oddly fearless or incredibly brave. A new shifter story with lovely characters and a twist to the usual and expected.
Eric was looking to forget his ex because she is now married to his boss. He loves to take pictures and find the perfect shot but what do you do when life turns you upside down and you aren't quite what you used to be. Now you are half man and half beast, a shifter and to top the icing on the cake you fall in love. Secrets sometimes are hard to swallow but can Misty accept this side of him and the new world that comes with it.

When he went into the forrest to try and get a picture of the wolves that were supposed to be there, he was attacked. Not remembering what happened; he wound up on Misty's porch. She takes care of him not knowing what's wrong with him.

Book two in the Holbrook Brother Shifters series a well written story that kept me turning pages. Eric Holbrook and Misty Miller meet when she moves to Galena Eric's hometown. But Eric has been turned into a wolf shifter by an evil dark wolf and he thinks she will be safer out of his life. There is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, a villain, kidnapping, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I enjoyed reading Eric's story and how he dealt with his conversion. The way his relationship with Misty developed was believable. I loved the that they knew each other when they were teens, attracted to each other, but not letting it show. I can't wait for Brighton's story and the continuation of the "fight" with the dark wolves.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Book 2 ...I'm blown away. I absolutely loved it. It picked up right after book one, bringing back the characters from book one and introducing us to some new characters and telling us more about the past of some of the original characters. There was action and adventure. heat and passion, love and friendship throughout the book. I love how Ms. Carr takes the time to really developed the story line and the characters.
Renee knocks it out of the park with character development and an interesting story line.
What happens when an artist moves back home, and one day finds her high school crush passed out by her house? This novel is very true to real life and pulls the reader into the dialogue. I was emotionally invested in the characters.
Highly recommend .

They met again, the first time since high school, when he stumbled onto her front porch, bruised, scratched up, bloody and naked. Misty took him in, cleaned his wounds and helped him as much as she could. When things calmed down they started to talk. Everything was going well until Misty got up to get Eric a glass of water. She heard him hit the floor, turned & watched in horror as he shifted into a wolf and ran straight through her front screen door!
The author has given us characters that we can care about. Eric is attacked in the woods and somehow finds his way to Misty. When she sees that he need help, she immediately tries to help him. From this moment on, their lives will never be the same again.

Too bad that Eric got scratched by a bad wolf and turned into a wolf but then he found Misty again. They reconnected after high school when her, Lizzie and Eric used to hang out together. Eric was a photographer and Misty was a sculptor which was great that they loved the arts. They got married after all that they went through to be together yay love the ending!
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review.
Holy shiznet!!! This is not your typical wolf story, and I think that that's why it's so good. But it does have an HEA. There's even evil wolves in this story. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up
I haven't read many shifter books. I think this one showed a great connection between the 2 characters. It went into detail about each of their love for the artist side and the love they had for their families. I guess I was a bit disappointed by the shifter portion of the story.
Another awesome read by this author. We have drama, adventure, suspense. Great job! Her characters keep you entertained. I recommend this one. I voluntarily agreed to review this product. My review is entirely my own opinion.
