After being wrongly accused of treason, Pierce Landcross has become England’s top fugitive. To escape, he must first travel to London, but Freya Bates has other plans for Pierce that involve his most dangerous enemy, Volker Jäger, and even the assassination of Queen Victoria! When Pierce finds himself facing the hangman’s noose, he realizes it will take more than luck, and maybe a touch of magic, to get out of this one.

Excellent conclusion to the series. Tightly woven, foreshadowing resolved, flashbacks from a 2,100 page saga consistent. Well done.
I had relatively unimpeded access to this read while on two legs of a flight to Puerto Rico and for a guy who can distract himself easily, that was quite welcome.
Legacy, the saga of Pierce Landcross, and his unique family heritage, is coming to a close. Put aside your mundane world and open yourself to magic. Once you do this, what seems real is not, and what is fantastic exists. LEGACY: THE PAYMENT will make you laugh and, more often than not, will make you cry. This series has been a journey of adventure through an enchanted steampunk world where the locales may seem familiar but their history is not. Along the way I have met characters both human and not so human and all with a story to tell.
Michelle Lowe is "the Teller of Forgotten Tales." Her imagination has provided me with hours of reading pleasure, and I anticipate reading more from this creative mind. Although this book does bring the saga to a satisfying end, I can see a plethora of short stories or novellas dedicated to some of the backstory characters. In many ways, Legacy is an alternate history of the world in which we live today. I found myself wishing that some things were actual parts of our past.
I do believe this is a series to read through once, put aside, and then pick it up again to absorb the fullness of life and family it contains. Although each book could probably be read as a standalone, do yourself a favor and start with the first book in the series simply titled LEGACY.
Wow, what a fabulous adventure. I’ve loved reading all six books in this series, and it’s provided me with so many hours of entertainment. Besides having a great plot, it’s the wonderful group of characters and what some of them can do that really caught my attention. Pierce, Freya and the Trickster have been three of my favourite characters. The other highlight for me is that there is always something happening threw out the story. It’s almost like Pierce Landcross has nine lives. He somehow managed to stay out of prison and not loose his head after breaking into the Queens residence to steal her necklace and then break his parents out of prison, and now he has Freya Bates out to get him. Freya may have the Trickster on her side and be able to cast all sorts of spells, however Pierce also has people watching out for him. Freya’s ultimate goal is to become a Djinn and she’s prepared to do just about anything to make that happen. Fey still has abilities of her own, and hopefully she will be able to assist Pierce in any way she can so he can get back to his family in one piece. Do yourself a favour and read this series, you won’t be disappointed. 5/5 Star Rating.
This is the end! The conclusion of the Adventures of Pierce Landcross. Oh man, this BOOK! Loved it! You have whole pages of explanations! Everything comes together.
This is the show down with Freya! She has become adept at using Pierce's loved ones against him. Now she has him right where she wants him. He knows he's being manipulated but what else can he do? Grandmother Fey and Orenda are attempting to burrow into Freya's shields to take her down but the only way they can it undetected is if she is distracted. Problem is her favorite distraction is trying to kill Pierce. They have to drop their protections for him in order to concentrate on this because they only have ONE shot at this. This leaves Pierce unprotected with the whole of England on his tail. But he is not alone. All of his friends and family are fighting with him. The whole cast of characters comes back in for this fantastic, jaw dropping end to the series.
I received this series from the author in exchange for honest reviews. Honestly, this series is awesome!
With the Payment, I have now read the whole Legacy series and I am glad I have. In this last book, the witch's diabolical plan comes to fruition. Finally, Pierce Landscross does the decent thing and dies, but there's a twist. There's always a twist, isn't there? That's what makes this impossible nonsense such a great read. I would recommend this series to any fantasy fun or any open-minded reader who loves over-the-top adventure.

“Books are a traveling machine! They take you to the past or the future or somewhere in between. They take you to places no passport can take you, and areas no one knows about.” Olivia S. Bassily
My journey with Michelle E. Lowe began with “Legacy (The Legacy Series, Book 1)” on June 16, 2017. The first book in this series was published on August 28, 2016, so I actually missed the takeoff. I was however, lucky enough to get aboard on a later date to take this wonderful journey to her imagined worlds, and be introduced to the most amazing array of characters which she so skillfully and masterfully envisioned for her readers. Along with amazing plots and great narratives there is a sense of being a part of the journey. The books in this series are the definition of “descriptive prose”. As you read you feel movement and emotion, you feel the excitement building and when you get to one of the many explosive plot lines you wonder where the hell did that come from?
In this, the final book of the series “The Payment (The Legacy Series, Book 6)” Michelle puts it all on the line, allowing her characters to take their final bow and fulfill their “thread” accordingly. Although bittersweet and sad to see the end of this series, I was left feeling emotionally satisfied and complete. While these characters have lived their lives, I know for sure that Michelle will give us many more stories and characters in her future writings.
“Life is bittersweet for those who live it. When it ends, we can revisit. Another story awaits, another adventure to take. Our journeys are marked by the footprints of our past. They stretch onwards, forever to last.” And so it ends…

About the Author: I'm a Georgia born native who has spent most my life near the Atlanta area before pulling up stakes and moving clear across the country with husband, Ben, and our two daughters. History piques my interests, especially European history. I’m a big nerd at heart. I read science-fiction and fantasy stories, and I love old B horror films. I also get a kick out of playing classic Atari video games, and I do oil painting as a hobby.
I’m a daydreamer and animal lover. I have two kitties, Nico and Max, and one very demanding guinea pig. I took up writing as a serious career choice twenty years ago, learning a lot and sharpening my skills along the way.

I was given this book in exchange for a honest review. I've read the entire series and I admit I'm a fan.
Like all of the books in this series The Payment is a fun well writen adventure that I couldn't put down. This is a fitting end to the series (let's not talk about how much the characters will be missed) that ties up all of the little sub-plots and gives us an ending for all of the major and many minor characters from the series. The flow of the story is great and when combined with the fast pace its hard to put this book down and easy to finish it in a day.
