A bitter lone wolf
An angry Alpha
A kidnapping gone wrong
A cult planning to end shifterkind...

Tegan

Being kidnapped wasn't on my list of things to do tonight, but seeing as my life was already halfway down the shitter? Why not? I have no family. No pack. No home. No one will miss me.

To add insult to injury, the very ticked off Alpha wolf who's taken me hostage? Just happens to be my fated mate. I hate him. I want him. Lust is complicated when all you want to do is gouge his eyes out.

But even if we mated, he won't want me once he sees the brand on my chest. I'm marked. Hunted. A danger to him and his pack...

Too bad I'm too selfish to walk away.

Finding Home is a 34,000 word paranormal romance, and the first book in the Northpoint Wolves series. There are mpreg elements in later books, and this series is a bit darker than my usual fare, but there is a guaranteed HEA for all my couples. See author's note for list of triggers.

A kidnapping, a brand, revenge, and fate's absurd humor in choosing fated mates... You don't get hit with the darker elements until farther into the story and the world set-up is short but understandable enough to avoid confusion. I liked Tegan right away with his attitude, his grasp of reality, his strength, his yearning for love, pack, and home. Rhine was unintentionally funny. His blind rage got him into the whole kidnapping mess and his lack of self control just keeps him digging his hole deeper and deeper. I felt so sorry for him constantly putting his foot in it but I was also chuckling at just how ridiculous he made things at every turn. But it was them together fighting and giving in to their attraction, their obvious hearts that took a bit to get on the same page, and their incredible love for family that gave them motivation.

There were some disturbing elements that were a shock to read yet weren't so graphic that I felt uncomfortable (*huge note for a trigger warning here though...rape is never entertainment). Though distressing, it was a whole lot more plausible than the perfectly-timed rescues we see in most other stories. The darker elements lent a level of intrigue that drew me into the series, not just the story. I think there was a pretty good balance found here and I'll definitely be back for more. The supporting cast is really great and the family's journey is only just beginning. There's a whole lot more coming and I want to find out what happens to everyone.

I liked it a lot. It's not perfect, but the plot is engaging and the main couple endearing.
What this book lacked was explanation. I can see two packs in conflict, but it feels silly no one has tried to challenge or run from a slightly mad alpha. I also am slightly confused about the dreadhunters. Who are they? What do they have against shifters? How do the marks work? We know there's shifters of more than one predator and magic users. Are there prey shifters? Other paranormals? I wasn't left with the feeling that the world wasn't well defined in the author's mind, just not well explained for those coming from outside.
I am slightly peeved that no one even guessed on the mark. I mean, concealer can cover color but not texture. Rhine must have felt something in one of those many sexy moments, as deeply burned skin (as it is described as "textured") is hardly even. Plus, water ruins makeup. Makeup fades. It couldn't hold as well as it did when recently applied all day and night. A small detail, but it had me metaphorically facepalming.

What do you do when you understand that the man you kidnapped and had thrown in a cellar is actually your fated mate? You grovel for his forgiveness, that's what you do!

And Rhine does, spilling his heart to Tegan. But building trust after the ugly way they met is not easy. Oh,they want each other, in fact, their passion is burning hot...they only have to back it up with feelings if they want a strong, lasting bond.

I gave my heart to Tegan from the first pages. It was terrible what he had to go through all his life and his desperate need to belong is heartbreaking. And Rhine, how could I not care about him after seeing his big heart, his devotion for his family and pack?

Finding Home is another exciting read by the amazing Kiska Gray. Fated mates, enemies to lovers that have to build a lifelong relationship during dangerous situations. And although there are dark threats coming their way,I'm sure Rhine and Tegan will find a way to keep going strong and survive everything...together.

This book is the first in a new series and I'm completely hooked. Now I can't wait for the nest one to be published.

Finding Home By Kiska Gray

Tegan lost his family at age 6 when they were murdered by the Dreadhunters. He was marked for death and let go being told the mark would lead them to him when he was older. Since then he's been on his own doing what he could to survive without a pack. Finally in desperation he becomes a toy for an Alpha, Jonas, in the hopes they'll take him in.

Rhine's brother, Rory, was kidnapped by Jonas after he killed their parents. When Rhine comes across Tegan smelling of Jonas he becomes enraged and on a whim kidnaps him in the hope of making a trade for Rory. But the joke's on Rhine. Jonas cares nothing for Tegan and worse yet... when Tegan bathes and the stench of Jonas is gone he discovers Tegan is his mate.

The book was good. The angst level low to medium. There wasn't much happiness in it even in the ending and no love. Just the possibility for it in the future. Which, to me, was heartbreaking for Tegan who'd been completely on his own for 20-some years. So it was more a HFN, not a HEA and since future books are each about a new couple I'm not sure he'll get it. After all he'd been through and even almost losing his own life to save anothers it would've been a 'feel good' at the end for Tegan to find love. Instead you're left unhappy about the whole situation.

Betrayed by the mate bond

Or maybe not. Two shifters who detest each other for perfectly valid reasons discover, reluctantly, that they are destined mates. Cute. Funny at times. But of course there are serious consequences for everyone. Some added characters are adorable. Alpha's brother Remy is like fine chocolate. You want to eat him up and still keep him around for future needs.

Quick Read

A solid initial plot that appears to be a good intro to a series. The characters had clear voices and distinctive personalities.
The details at times were a little rushed and underdeveloped, but it offered sweet (and angsty) shifter escapism, which was exactly what I was looking for.

Your kidnapper is your fated mate? What the...

What a stunning start to a new series! The world is vibrant, the characters well thought out and intriguing. I was caught up in their lives from the first pages. This book has intrigue, kidnappings, pack, and fated mates. Hate to lust to love. Ooh, and really hot sex. You will love this book!
Marked by Dreadhunters when he was only six, Tegan has spent the last 20 years alone. No pack will have him. He never expects to get kidnapped. Rhine scents his rival, the wolf who kidnapped his youngest brother, all over Tegan. Kidnapping him wasn't the smartest thing Rhine has ever done. Now they are stuck. To make matters worse, Rhine & Tegan are mates.
Come. Join them on their journey to HEA. Tegan's brand will be reveled. A rescue attempt won't go as planned. Love blooms. Not all issues are resolved. The next book is set up. I can't wait to read it.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

This is the first book in The ( Northpoint Wolves Book series )

What can I say about THIS book not much I now that this is the first book in a new M.M shifter series and that they aren't always a good start because the Author is trying to establish their story line . And don't get me wrong I have read book series were the story didn't pick up until maybe the second or third volume and turned out pretty decent so I'm gonna give this series a chance . I can say that there wasn't many characters in this book that I liked there where a lot of terrible situations these characters had to deal with but their situations did not me with the impact that I expected it to . There are a lot of players in this series and I didn't get a great feeling from any of them so I'm hoping that the next book will go I go more in-depth with these crazy humans and the other pack .

So, this is a DNF for me. Rhine was a disappointment because I felt he wasn't the best he could have been. Yes, his brother is missing but he doesn't seem to know how to strategize at all. He only holds onto his anger. Also, he snaps at his pack way too much. He makes them fearful and that's not cool. It's like they are living under tyranny.

Tegan was bitter and sad which was completely understandable. Yet, because his mate was an alpha bully, I wasn't able to cheer for this pair. I wanted Rhine to help Tegan heal and vice versa but that seemed far off. And I feared that after all the hate sex, they would just magically fall in love. It's such a short read that I am not sure how Rhine will be able to make up for his mistake and how Tegan can learn to trust him.

There were too many red flags for me so I just didn't finish. No reason to make myself miserable trying to finish it.

A quick read with interesting plots, tragic traumatic events, and fated mates. It is fast-paced, and if you have any triggers at all, don't read this. I wish the author spent more time on the aftermath of such trauma, and gave it some justice and healing. The traumas are brushed off.

Themes include wolf shifter romance, fated-mates, war between wolf shifter packs, mysterious unknown killer monsters, hurt/comfort, surviving terrible trauma (ie., kidnapping, all types of assault, dub-con, slaves, and more).

I haven't read an ARC in awhile due to my discounted KU subscription ending in 2023, as well as a huge stockpile of purchase books - over 10,000 some from a few other genres (Thrillers, police procedurals, horror, westerns, and books with dogs as a main character, plus non-fiction true crime books).

I have also been watching some of the hundreds of TV series & movies in my very extensive DVD collection. I don't need Netflix I already own all of the seasons of the many TV shows that I enjoy. And it's finally summer so I'm outside with my pups and then there's baseball season - Yankee baseball season! All this to say that despite all these other enticements I requested, received, read, and reviewed Kiska Gray's FINDING HOME.

There was so much packed into this book and it held my attention so completely I couldn't listen to it at night before I went to sleep I would have stayed up way too late and grossed in the story line. It seems getting up & ready for work mornings comes earlier and earlier. When is the time falling back again? November?! She faints...

This might be a spoiler, but a bit of a disappointment for me: okay let me start off by saying this book at least is not an Mpreg. Important characters endure kidnapping and rape so maybe it's for the best that it isn't one. Definite dubious consent issues / triggers in this book.

All that being said the main character is a tough-as-nails Omega. He gives as good or bad as he gets. What made him so hard was a terrible trauma and an upbringing fueled by fire being poured on gasoline.

A Lone Wolf is welcomed by few a Marked one by none. This lonely Omega will do whatever he can for physical contact with another Wolf, especially an Alpha he hopes will invite him into his pack.

But his cynical side asserts that he's really just allowing himself to be used. His sentimental side has been ground down. Leaving a jaded Omega no longer looking for or hoping for love one day because each day that seems more & more less likely. Then he is kidnapped...

Just when he thought his life couldn't get any worse it did in fact ten times worse. Everything he ever wanted or nothing he would he be allowed to have was within reach, but all he could see is it slipping away and being unable to stop the inevitable.

This was a great beginning to a new series and I can't wait to read the next one. This is my first book by Kiska Gray, but it most certainly will not be my last.

“I longed to be surrounded by pack again.”

This story definitely has some trigger warnings that are both actions and talked about.

Jonas is the future Alpha of the Westwind’s pack and a total a-hole. Poor Tegan is a lone wolf who just wants to be apart of a pack, so he sleeps with Jonas and a small part of him hopes to be accepted into the Westwind’s pack.

Rhine is the Alpha of the Amber Run pack and thinks… no he knows that Jonas has kidnapped his younger brother. So, Rhine kidnaps Tegan in hopes to get his brother back from Jonas. Only there’s two problems with Rhine’s plan. One, Tegan isn’t anything of worth to Jonas and two, Rhine has just kidnapped his mate and has him locked up in silver in a wine cellar.

I loved Tegan’s fiery personality and how strong he is, even if it’s because he had to be for so long due to living as a lone wolf. I also like that he doesn’t just give in to Rhine just because they are mates.

There’s plenty of action, emotions and love making that I found this story very entertaining. Tegan really steps up and keeps his word even at the expense of his life and Rhine also tries to show Tegan how much he’s wanted and cared for and how sorry he is for kidnapping him. The two are great together even if Tegan fights it at times.

I do have a few unanswered questions, but I hope they are answered in the next book as this one states it’s the first in a series. I am excited to see what happens next.

Finding Home by author Kiska Gray has favorite troupe in it.MM and werewolves that always has me at hello. This is the first book in the Northpoint Wolves series. There are some triggers the author clearly states in this book. They are as follows: abuse, kidnapping/abduction, and non-conslavery. I did not find them triggers for me personally, but the author does state them clearly before you read this one.
This book is written in dual pov. I am loving dual pov. It allows me to really sink into the story and feel what the characters are feeling without getting confused at who is speaking or thinking.
Teagan, he wants to be taken into a pack. He wants a place he can call home. Right now he has neither. He is grabbed and drugged by a rival pack. Abducted. Scared he keeps his wits about him. But he is very scared.
This character just needed a home and love. I really really wanted him to have both. He is kind, sweet, and loyal to a fault.
Rhine is the one who kidnapped Teagan. He wants to get his brother back from the other pack leader. Figured he can make a trade. He really has not thought this completely through. He is not happy about what he did. And scared he will lose his one chance at love now.
These two come together in a way that feels natural and real. I loved them together. I cannot wait for more from this world I am going to be in line to read them all I know that for sure.

I love this book. I liked how Tegan didn't give in to the mate bond. Rhine had been a dick and mate bond or no he was going to make Rhine work to make it up to him. Instant love books for true mates annoy me a bit because its always look into the eyes of your mate and bam you are in love. Not here. Tegan was tough as nails on the outside and hurting and lonely on the inside. It made him more realistic and relatable. Rhine was a better example of alpha than a lot of ones I had read. He had an explosive temper because he was passionate, so a seemingly confident mate that wasn't going to fall at his feet and fawn on him made them a good match.

I also loved the side characters. Merrick and Rory especially. I also am a bit curious about Bastien. And I look forward to meeting the dread hunters. I am curious about that society and how they manage to do what they do. Though I hope they do not win in the end the added mystery and danger added to the storyline. I will definitely continue this series.

Trigger warning - rape

Fated mates, Rhine and Tegan get off to a rocky start. Tegan gets kidnapped by his fated mate - screw his crappy luck. Can Rhine earn his mate’s forgiveness, love and trust?

My heart ached for Tegan, poor guy couldn’t catch a break. He longed for a pack and someone to love and love him in return but life hadn’t been kind in that regard. Can Rhine prove himself to be worthy of his love? Tegan had fire, sass and whole lot of determination and I enjoyed watching him go head to head with Rhine.

Great start to the series!

Finding Home is the first book in the Northpoint Wolves series by Kiska Gray. It has some darker elements in here like kidnapping, violence and rape.. so its definitely not a light and fluffy read. It has an overall plot that will continue through the whole series, but each book tackles the love story of one couple in the pack. This first installment is Tegan and Rhine's turn to tell their Fated Mating tale. They are definitely hot together and their story kept you interested and wanting more of the pack's stories.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

Great start to a new series. Tegan is a down on his luck omega who's had to endure horrific situations just to survive. As a result, he trusts no one
Rhine is an alpha who's out for revenge. Kidnapping Tegan as part of that plot seems like a good idea until he's blindsided by the fact that they're fated mates.
There's also a secret Tegan is keeping because he fears not only rejection, but bringing danger to his new pack simply by associating with them. Rhine has to work very hard to prove his good intentions towards Tegan, and Tegan has to learn to finally trust someone enough to let them in and accept help and love.

This is a great start to a new series and I really enjoyed it. Even though there are some darker elements in this story there are many lighter moments as well. Tegan and Rhine are an intriguing couple and I love how their relationship evolves. They have a difficult start and Rhine has to make up for a lot of mistakes but there are extenuating circumstances. They both have a lot to learn about being mates and Tegan is wary about joining a pack as he has a secret that could bring danger to everyone. I love all of the secondary characters and I can't wait to see more of Rhine's brothers as this series continues.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Fun read

Finding Home was a fun moderately paced book about a young shifter Tegan who has been death marked and a young alpha Rhine who is trying to be a good leader. Though the two have a rough beginning they soon bond . The storyline is interesting and entertaining, the characters interesting,
