"This is it, mofos. This is the end game.
We've got nowhere else to go, and no bugger's coming to save us.
We're either doing this or we're gonna die trying, because it all depends on you.
There is no going back. So lock, load, and get ready to rumble!"
SNAFU: Last Stand is a collated anthology of short stories of a final battle, no matter where it is or who it involves.
It's the Battle of Thermopylae, the Alamo, the Battle of Mirbat, the First Battle of Mogadishu, the Battle of Hel, and Custer’s Last Stand, all rolled up into one badass monster-fighting basket of SNAFU-style action.
Recommended by and foreword written by Hollywood director/producer Tim Miller, the visionary behind Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate, and Netflix's Love, Death & Robots, in which many SNAFU stories already feature.
Don't miss out, 'cause from this, there ain't no comin' back...

'Military Horror' is a rather special sub-genre. I had got 'infected' by that particular bug after watching 'Aliens', and then was practically mesmerised by 'Predator'.
This particular anthology is a glorious addition to that particular tradition of storytelling.
Following an excellent 'foreword' from Tim Miller, we have fourteen short or long tales that have three things in common:
1) Soldiers who have been cornered into a final stand;
2) Unsurmountable odds in the form of alien, bizarre threats;
3) Terrific plots, with deeply human hearts.
These were unstoppable and unputdownable reads. They were dark, dire, and ending badly for our protagonists in most cases. But I couldn’t stop.
I just couldn’t stop.
This was a solid read, which I am NOT going to forget anytime soon.
Highly recommended.

I can't say it enough,

I love these books. They've got it all: action, emotion and humour, as well as over the top bugs and other critters. And they are superbly well written. There's the occasional flubber, but not enough to detract from reading and absorbing the story. For those of you who like military action with just the right amount of sci fi thrown in, these books are perfect for that willingness of suspension of belief! Perhaps you'll love them as much as I do. 😊

Sucks you in

The desperation of the characters in these stories sucks you in. Try not to have any favorite characters, because like the title says, these are their last stands. Some of these stories really dug their claws in, others not so much. Either way, there's bound to be at least one story in here for everyone.

Good

Good edition to the series. These stories ended the way they should as a last stand instalment. I enjoyed the civil war story the most. Really left you hanging. On a side note, I wouldn't piss on Timmy Miller if he was on fire in my front yard.

Thoroughly Enjoyable!

Combining some of my favorite genres, science fiction, historical fiction, and otherworldly horror, this is a tasty collection of short stories. Sure to please anyone who enjoys the SNAFU series :)

A fun collection of pulp inspired action-horror thrillers focused on last stands. Think 13 Hours meets Dog Soldiers and you'll get the idea. Every story is entertaining, though some are better than others, and it's another fun collection from the fine folks at Cohesion Press.

Entertaining.

A few of the first stories were ok but the book got better as the stories progressed. I liked the theme of last stands.

This was probably the worst of the SNAFU books I've read, so far. None of the stories really grabbed me.

Riveting and desperate

Riveting and desperate. A true homage to every last stand from 300 to the Alamo and to every brave soul who fought a last stand.
