Being a secret pirate is no easy thing for Sixteen-year old Miles who is a dishwasher in the South Seas. . . But when an escaped convict floats ashore in the body of a shark, his fate changes. Fighting back horrors of a life of boredom, he is thrust into a dangerous plot involving a stolen map, a crashed glider, and a sunken ship. But Telescope Jim has newly-constructed ships, and is hunting the rebellious pirates in search of their treasure. And a secret twist will change everything for Miles when his love interest comes between the treasure and his heart.
As surprisingly bizarre as the words and actions of these characters are, somehow J. S. Lome makes them seem real. I can easily imagine meeting them in real life and having these conversations, and even the crazy adventures. And the logic behind what happens with the government is the most real of all. Truth parallels this story quite closely. I also enjoy the honor amongst thieves. I look forward to the next adventure! Thank you for writing these books!
I've really come to enjoy this series of books. The characters have grown more and more on me as the story progresses and I'm always surprised at what twist or turn happens. Thanks for a great read! I've already started into book four.
The complexity yet innocence found within a children's book will always amaze me. This read was quick and easy, but utterly powerful at the same time. I love reading to my children, especially when it's something meaningful and worthwhile.
