When tough as nails police officer Kaly Parnell is nearly taken down by a hit and run driver, her life is thrown into a mess of chaos. She’s sidelined from the job she loves and forced to endure weeks of rehab and recovery. Caleb Walton, the firefighter credited with saving Kaly’s life, isn’t sure what to think of the tiny blonde and her surplus of deadly martial art moves. Both loners at heart, the two find themselves in unchartered territory as the attraction between them smolders. But Kaly has a past that she’s unwilling to share, and Caleb is not big on secrets. Learning to trust isn’t easy for either of them, and they find themselves on a very slippery slope as danger creeps in to surround them.
Jennifer Hayden was born in Washington State. During her childhood and young adult years, she spent many hours lost in the adventures of a good book. She began writing her own stories at the age of 12 when she "ran out of books to read at the library." By the time she graduated from high school, she already had a job as a secretary/office manager, where she eventually met her husband, Mike. For the next several years, she wrote in her spare time, sharing her manuscripts with friends and family. At the urging of two good friends, she decided to go for broke and leave her secretarial career behind in pursuit of this magical literary journey. She now has 54 books available.
Officer Kaly has ghosts from the past and all the time in the world to think about them while on medical leave. Firefighter Caleb saved her life by grabbing her attention before she was hit by a car. What amazing things can come from saying Thank You? Another Great read in this series! Enjoy!!!
I really like this author's work but this one fell a little short in my opinion. There was far too much telling instead of showing, things wrapped up a little too neatly. I would have liked to see more of the relationship development instead of being told "they're now a couple". All in all its a pleasant read and I'll continue to buy her books.
While the book is stand-alone, it is better to read the series from the start. There are some old characters that are mentioned and if you don’t know that you think the mention is filler. Otherwise the story is good.
