In a blink of an eye your life can change. Jack Thompson believes he has life figured out. A good job with a bright potential, a beautiful girlfriend who he plans to marry, and a brand-new home nestled in an affluent suburb. He has money and a picturesque future, and everything he ever dreamed of. Life could not be better. Nothing could possibly go wrong. He has everything he ever wanted. Until the one moment when everything he had is gone. On an early summer morning Jack takes his live-in girlfriend, Amanda, to the airport to visit her sister. At that instant, Jack’s life will never be the same. He watches her board the plane only to never hear from her again. He comes home to a house that has been ransacked, his bank accounts emptied, and his job and career destroyed. A ghost of himself, he becomes a suspect in Amanda’s disappearance as an unwavering veteran detective closes in. At his wits end and running out of time, Jack loses everything he once held dear. All that he believed important has been taken away. With the perpetrators gone and Amanda missing, Jack ends up living in poverty, running from the police and serving time in jail as he continues his search for answers. With friends old and new at his side he never gives up until a trail of clues lead him across the country where he discovers a stunning revelation that the life he once knew was never what it seemed to be. The cost of truth is agony, producing a final violent and bloody end to more than he could have ever known. Closure is a story of loss, recovery and redemption. A reminder that what we have can be gone in an instant and what we believe is real could vanish into thin air.
I really enjoyed this book. The plot was well thought out and the tension drove me to keep reading. It was exciting and thrilling with many twists and turns.
Some parts of the book rambled on for too long and caused me to lose my attention. There were details or sections that could have been eliminated entirely to make the story more concise and have better flow.
My main issue with this book were the many typos/missing words throughout the text that were distracting.
Overall, this was a fantastic read and I look forward to Kip Lacey’s next book. He has major talent!
I enjoyed the read but i can't figure out that when he took Amanda to the airport and dropped her off, then when he went back to the airport to pick her up (and she didn't show up), Why didn't the detective or Jack think to check the CCTV at the airport??? I kept thinking that they will do it but nobody did it or thought of it!! I know that they must have had some kind of recording devices as they talked about it showing him point the cell phone/gun at the aiport employee!!!
That the author didn't address this issue made it so tough to believe enjoy the rest of the book!!!
If it was address and i missed it, please let me know where it was addressed and let me know!! Thanks, Ron@holmappraising.com
I spent the whole day reading, barely taking time to eat or drink...I loved this book. Yes there were things I thought were a bit far fetched but overall one of the best books I have read in a long time.
Looking forward to more books by Kip Lacey! Sure held my attention, all day as a matter of fact... Thank you.
This is the first time reading a book by Kip Lacey. I enjoyed the story. Couldn't figure out who was the main villain. Not surprised about Amanda's story. How can one person be so naive? There where a few typos. I would definitely share this book with a friend.
I really liked the storyline but all the grammar and spelling mistakes made it a lot less enjoyable. Who misspells their own characters’ names (Rick was called Rich twice and Amanda was called Amada?!?!)? So many typos, I just hated it.
This book had action and mystery. I loved the main character Jack and kept rooting for him the whole time. I read this book in two sittings and was impossible to put down until the end. Great twist that I couldn’t figure out!
Would recommend! Great suspenseful read! Got a little bored with overlong dragging obcession with Amanda! But overall good suspense! And I Love a long book !!. Kept me wondering Tricky ending
One part of me was like WHATS GOING ON I NEED TO KNKW and the other part of me was like please I can’t. It was such an intense read and just… drew me in. I rarely experience the kind of dread I felt with this, like wanting to know but afraid to know??
I was hooked from the beginning, but by the halfway point, I couldn't put it down. I kept trying to connect the dots and by the end, I was still shook! I wish I could read this all over again for the first time
The story has an interesting idea, but there was too much detail leading up to the obvious outcome. Somewhat predictable. The author made the main character seem a bit too naive. Also, the editing was so bad it was really annoying. So many typos.
This book kept my attention. I wanted to know what was happening and I read it fairly fast. There were some issues that a better proofread could have helped but other than that this book was good.
This book is dragging on and on and on. The writer is slow and overly descriptive, and I eventually just stopped reading anytime he goes backwards to his youth. In the 200 plus pages already and it's just barely having and filling.
