Sheriff Ray Cochran has dealt with cryptids lurking in the shadows of Baker County before, but nothing has prepared him for this. With Halloween mere days away, a young boy is suddenly taken by a wood ape and later found dead in the nearby forest. What follows is a no-holds-barred effort by Cochran and two government agents to locate the rogue wood ape and destroy it before any else gets hurt. Will they find it before the streets of Dunn are crawling with costumed children eager to trick-or-treat for candy? If they don't, more blood will almost certainly be shed.

3.5 stars. This was a very unique Bigfoot story. I can’t really say too much on the plot details without spoiling certain points, but it was a novel approach. The story also had a quick pace and satisfying finale, the likes of which I haven’t ever seen in other similar books. Now the story was good and all, with tons of Bigfoot-related action, but I struggled to keep track of all the characters. Lots of people were introduced and there was no true lead character. That was hard to process as the reader because no one had the amount of attention that was critical to keep me engaged with the story. Here we just got a bunch of underdeveloped characters all there to just push the plot forward. It was a big missed opportunity and could have worked in rounding out the entire experience. Still though, the fun premise is what carried it all forward as a good overall experience.

In the back woods of Mississippi, a bigfoot is killing and eating people. Meanwhile, a guy who was turned into a bigfoot by a lab experiment is running around, either saving people...or not. The local Sheriff, the FBI, and the Lab are after the two monsters, whether they like it or not.

I have to say that C.G. Mosey upped his game with this new Bigfoot thriller. I was hooked from the first page and read well into the night, in the dark (was that a mistake? Lol), fell asleep reading and then finished it this morning. It grabbed me and didn’t let go until the last page.

The pacing was great, kept the story flowing and with an adrenaline pumping quickness filled with suspense. There was an eerie, creepy factor that raised the hair, some great intrigue, and even some moments of dry humor that really made it a well-rounded story.

The author did a great job with characterization in this one, really making you root for his people, even one particular character you might think would be a villain. Their personalities, conflicts and inner struggles connected you to them on an emotional level, which to me is the mark of a good book.

I was pleased to see some returning characters from some of the author’s prior works. In fact, check out The Baker County Bigfoot Chronicles and the book Wood Ape, which basically sandwich this story in between and connect them all together, even though this is not an official trilogy.

The author’s writing style is fast-paced, no-nonsense but thought-provoking. I highly enjoyed this story and recommend it! Great job!

Nice story though I wanted to stop a few times when someone I liked died. Great wind up to the trilogy though the ending suggests there will be at least one more book.

The book had a few typos but nothing that made me want to stop reading. I enjoyed the series and will look at other titles from this author.

Wow!

Another wonderful book by this author. Some of the most shocking twists I've ever read. He's not afraid to take his stories in directions other authors shy away from. No cursing or sex. Violence and blood...enough to convey what's happening without over doing it. I'm already looking for another book by him.

C.G. Mosley tells an interesting tale complete with a Rogue Wood Ape and a Government cover up complete with some interesting research experiments gone wrong. This is a good Wood Ape vs Bad Wood Ape with clueless humans in between. Fast paced action and definately one you will not want to put down.
