She’ll bring him to his knees. It’s exactly where he wants to be.
Liv Milani knows she’s That Girl. Bold, cool, fiercely loyal—and easy to blow off. Liv is a pro at guarding her heart and not taking things seriously. She is a champion at ignoring Will Langer, her brother’s best friend and Liv’s personal nemesis. The broody jerk’s stony silence is the last thing she needs during a season of change, and now he’s sharing her house for the summer.
Will has spent years behind a stoic expression, longing to make Liv see just how incredible she is. He’d give anything to tell her that she’s his dream girl, but Liv is off-limits. Her brother made that clear long ago. Living with her is going to be a challenge, but Will knows how to control his feelings. Usually.
Suddenly, everything is shaken up, and not taking things seriously is impossible. That Girl is becoming a warrior with a new career calling. Liv and Will’s strong personalities ignite cold indifference into white-hot passion that burns bright even after the Nashville summer has cooled. Against all the rules, they’re falling hard for each other. But keeping secrets is dangerous, and Liv has demons to battle before she can tell her nemesis just how much he means to her.

5⭐️ Skye McDonald, you’ve done it again! I. Loved. It! And I think this was my favorite one. It’s my second favorite trope, enemies to lovers. The romance was swoon worthy and I loved Liv and Will to together. Will is definitely my new book boyfriend. This was fun, intense and a great romance! ((Sigh)) ♥️ The author writes wonderful stories that always makes me very happy. I enjoyed everything about this book. The side characters, the angst, the hot sex and of course the HEA! This is book 3 of of series and it can be read as a stand-alone. If you love romance then you’ll love this. SM has become one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to read her next book. I highly recommend this book. Happy Reading.
This was an advanced readers copy from the author and I’ve given my honest opinion. Just so you know, I’ve bought every book she’s written because I love her books that much.
This book...YOU GUYS! This book is INCREDIBLE. Okay so I fully admit that when I met Liv in Not Suitable For Work, I didn't like her. She was SO mean to Celeste and I loved Celeste. But I warmed up to her by the end of NSFW. And I was totally in her corner in Off The Record because of how Nick treated her. And in this book Nemesis--her book--I absolutely adored her. You get her backstory, experience her struggle first-hand, and see what it's like for her to fall in love with a dude she loathes.
Nemesis is one of my favorite tropes, enemies to lovers. BUT!! It also has the added bonus of being a brother's best friend trope. And OMFG this trope combo is like catnip for me. The way Skye wrote Liv was so amazing. Liv is getting through life with a job she doesn't really care about and with a love life that's a bit of a train wreck, but that doesn't matter because she has a great friends and makes a great life for herself.
Until her older brother Tom, who she lives with, tells her the his bestie Will is moving in with them for the summer. Which suuucks for Liv because she and Will loathe each other. It's going to be one hell of a difficult living situation for Liv. But it's also freaking amazing because tension and the banter between them is off the charts! You also get one hell of a back story (it's SOOO GOOD!). And of course you know what that leads to--some steamy hookups! I don't want to spoil anything because you NEED to read this book to appreciate the full amazingness of it, but Liv and Will get out their feelings for each other in more ways than one ;)
But on top of being a steamy romance, this is also a touching and relatable story of a woman who has been written off by others most of her life because of her unapologetic confidence and unwillingness to take crap from anyone, and asserting herself in personal and professional situations. It's a very deep and emotional read, and I loved how multidimensional it is. Romance fans, you need to read this book ASAP! Anyone who likes some substance to their steam will adore it! Skye McDonald doesn't disappoint!
Nemesis by Skye McDonald is a contemporary enemies to lover’s romance
This is the third book in the Anti-Belle series that are standalone novels about sassy girls raised in the south that are learning to love themselves before they can claim their happily ever after.
I absolutely love Skye's books! She does an amazing job pulling you into the story. You can't help but fall in love with Will and Liv.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves enemies to lover’s romance or contemporary romance.
I met Olivia "Liv" in the prior books and wasn't her biggest fan. I didn't like how she acted towards Nick and the woman he was interested in. I didn't know how the author could redeem her in this book, but she did! Nemesis is actually my favorite of the three books! Liv comes from a close family and has a protective older brother, Tom. She has always been "that girl." That girl who is flighty and has a new obsession every few months and doesn't stay committed very long. That girl who no one takes seriously. She dropped out of college and feels like her family thinks she doesn't do anything of purpose. Liv took a job in an corporate mailroom just to pay the bills. But now, she has been helping out at her niece's daycare and has really been enjoying it. She is pondering this job change to work in the daycare, but is keeping it to herself for fear of what her family would say.
With Tom, comes his best friend since college, Will. Will doesn't have any family so Tom and Liv's parents have taken him in as their surrogate son. Liv and Will have always gotten under the other's skin. They don't get along, making snide/sarcastic comments when they are together. When Will's condo is under renovation and he needs a place to stay for two months, Tom offers him to stay with him. (and Liv, since they are roommates). She can't say no as Will be paying rent and it will pay for Tom's daughter's daycare. At first, Liv avoids being home and around when Will is there. But, soon, Will and Liv discover that their "hate" is really attraction and they try to find their way as a "thing" without life and family getting in the way. She knows her brother will be against Will and her dating and is afraid of what her parents might say, too. This is a wonderful romance between Will and Liv, but the side characters were great too--especially her best friend, Megan. There were some funny moments and great one-liners in it. My favorite trope is enemies to lovers and this was an awesome example of it. While this is book three, you don't need to read books one and two to enjoy this story, but it definitely helps!
Thank you to the author for my advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Skye did it again ya'll! Delivering another power packed love fest. Brimming with brilliant character development, we get to see an anti-belle in a different light than we were expecting. Skye had written Liv in such a way in the previous books that whatever you thought you knew about her gets reshaped in Nemesis. I am glad we got to meet the real Liv!
Meh. They became lovers around 20% and after that it was loooong till the 3rd act break-up. So not really ennemies to lovers. Around 60% I skiped all till the last two chapters around 90%. Not my fave.
“𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘳𝘶𝘥𝘦 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘨𝘪𝘳𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘴𝘰𝘧𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦. -𝘶𝘯𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯” My FAVORITE book trope is enemies to lovers and @WriterSkye does not disappoint with Nemesis! I absolutely loved every second of this story! Liv is a bad ass, who hides her vulnerability behind snark and wit, but is the BEST friend, the sweetest with children, brilliantly smart and so likable. She’s also a tough cookie taking Crossfit and Krav Maga classes, and I LOVE a boss babe. Will is dark and broody but so sweet and intuitive and I think is my new book boyfriend. Their story is hostile, snarky, and then so hot and sexy, and even romantic. Will pushes every single one of Liv’s buttons and she does the same for him; but damn the passion between these two. 🔥 Liv also has an incredible family and friends, with the best support system, and I loved every single character in this story, except Cam. Cam deserved a throat punch. This is a third book in this series, but can be read as a stand alone. I need to go backward and read the others now. Thank you so much @writerskye for a copy of this beautiful book!💗 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #bookstagram #books #bookcommunity #romance #enemiestolovers #tropes
Skye McDonald's "Nemesis" is book #3 in the Anti-Belle series, which has been such a pleasure for me to read. Each book has been better than the last, featuring likeable, well-developed characters and unique, engaging plots.
"Nemesis" reads as a complete standalone, so those who have not yet picked up the first two books in the series will not feel lost at all by starting here. However, readers already familiar with the series may remember the female lead character, Liv Milani, as the former girlfriend/current close friend of book #1's male lead, Ben Addison. In the earlier books, Liv came across to me as very cool but sometimes prickly, especially after an incident that took place with the female lead character of book #2. Despite that, I always liked Liv and suspected that there was more to her than met the eye, so I was excited to get to know her better here in book #3.
As it turned out, Liv was very passionate but struggled with finding the right direction in which to channel all of that energy. While it seemed to her family and friends that she lacked follow through and simply did whatever struck her fancy on a given day, the truth was that Liv's "whims" over the years were just her way of trying to find the right path. After volunteering at her niece's daycare, she finally found her true calling as a teacher and, with some "encouragement" from her love interest, Will Langer, obtained the necessary certifications to take on the job. In addition to her passion, I enjoyed Liv's snarky remarks and the fact that she didn't take flak from anyone. She wasn't afraid to stand up for herself, but that tough attitude sometimes got her in trouble. She seemed to soften a bit by the end of the book, or at least was better about saying she was sorry when she went too far.
Will was also a very interesting lead character, particularly because of his strict upbringing in Texas. I completely understand why Liv's brother Tom would describe Will as intense (at the very least, he was a workaholic), but I was honestly impressed by how normal he seemed given his background. Generally speaking, however, Will was a good guy, and I didn't quite understand why Tom felt so strongly about Will not pursuing Liv, unless he had an issue with their age difference or he simply didn't want to have to share his best friend. Will certainly seemed to bring out the best in Liv by pushing her to follow through on things and articulate her needs and wants.
Overall, I loved "Nemesis" and highly recommend it for all fans of contemporary romance. I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series!

Thank you to the always delightful Skye McDonald for an earc of this in exchange for an honest review.
I must say I am surprised to find this is my favorite of the series. Liv wasn’t even close to my favorite and I admit to not being excited to spend a book in her head. Though after this book, I’m having a hard time remembering why I disliked her. Live’s chemistry with Will was 🔥🔥🔥🔥. By far my favorite couple out of the series. I felt their tension sizzle and they were the most compelling. But I also adored Liv’s friend Megan and I am hoping she gets her own story because I love her and I’d absolutely read about her relationship with Adam.
Nemesis also flowed the smoothest for me and I think McDonald’s writing was the best I’ve read so far. There was something so raw and beautiful in this one where I felt so connected in a way I didn’t have with the other couples. I don’t know what it was, this had that unnamed special thing I needed.
If you haven’t started the Anti-Belle series, you’re in luck and there are already three books out there for you to binge. Each can be read as stand-alone titles, though if read in order you get a better picture of each character. All three are currently on Kindle Unlimited or $2.99 per book. I’ll drop the link for each one below. If you enjoy strong badass ladies, whiskey, and sex/romance then you’ll love these books.
TL;DR -- my favorite of the series! The chemistry between Will and Liv was on FIRE. I loved this one.
Enemies to lovers is starting to be one of my favorite tropes as of late. Skye does an outstanding job creating a story line that is easy to follow and is totally relatable. I had a hard time putting this book down and only wanted to pick it up when I wasn't reading. I found their relationship to be absolutely adorable and their story heartwarming.
Olivia and Will are such strong and lovable characters with so much dept. Olivia is tired of being considered "That Girl," the one that no one takes seriously; whether it's in a relationship or career wise. Will is a hard worker, with a good head on his shoulders. Something happens in the past between Olivia and Will, which is the reason behind all the snarky remarks and eye-rolls between the two. Until one day, after Will moved in with Olivia and Tom ( and his daughter), things started to get interesting. They start off keeping things between themselves, both for their own reasons. I don't know if I could have read the last handful of chapters fast enough. All I wanted was to see how things would play out and when I did, I wanted more.
I highly recommend this book and entire series. You don't need to read the series to pick up this book. But let's face it, it wouldn't hurt.
Liv Milani is a sarcastic, no-bullshit, and all honesty lady. She’s not willing to appease anyone, especially someone she’s known most of her life, specifically Will. He’s watched her grow from a teenager with braces to a stunning young woman- but all their relationship is filled with is animosity, angst, and a few heated moments of explicit one-liners. But, with the remodeling of Will’s apartment, and a summer under the same room prove to blossom a more-than-friends relationship between the two? You’ll just have to read to see how Liv and Will guide through the status of Nemesis, and who will come crashing to their knees.
Skye trying outdid herself with Liv. She’s colorful, fun, and the girl you want on your side! I couldn’t stop reading until I got to the last page, and although I wanted more, I have confidence Liv is living the good life in her world of an anti-belle.
Review by 🙋🏼♀️ :: Nemesis, by Skye McDonald. To all Romance Readers :: You need to STOP what you are doing RIGHT NOW. And add this book to your pile. Have you read? And if you haven’t ... why the heck not ?! (👈🏻That’s what I kept asking myself while reading this book...)
This was my first Skye McDonald book and I can FOR SURE say it will not be my last. This little gem had it all :: Brothers best friend / Brothers little sister = hands off ! Bantering galore. Friends to almost lovers to enemies to f**k buddies to more. Smart and witty characters that seem extremely tough. Layers and layers of finding hearts. And oh the heat between these two. I mean it’s sizzling and popping the second they are in a room together. I can go on and on. Will and Liv are the perfect match and will not disappoint. And as you turn each page you will fall a tad bit more in love. OH MY GOODNESS Will !! 🤩🤤💘 I absolutely love picking up a book I have no idea about, and finding myself turning back to the cover over and over again, asking myself why am I just NOW reading this book? Nemesis is my latest that falls under this category and I am so happy we crossed paths. Overall Rating :: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Steam Rating :: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Dear Lord, this book ran the gamut of emotions on me. I laughed, cried, felt like my heart was breaking, squealed with glee, got angry, wanted to throw a punch or two, cried again and then smiled the biggest dopiest grin when it all finally ended. Phew! That was a lot, but it was so worth the journey.
When I realized that I wasn't going to finish the book in a single day, I got to an absolutely perfect spot (about 100 pages from the end) when I had to go to bed. This left everything in that blissful honeymoon state where emotions are running high, and the couple can't keep their hands off one another. I knew that today's read would be the one that broke me. It had to get ugly, in this case, really ugly, before it was going to be awesome again. I can't remember if there was a trigger warning at the beginning of the book, but boy, it certainly could have used one. Maybe not at the beginning but certainly at the start of a certain chapter where all the stuff (keeping this review clean) went down. If you read this already you know exactly where I'm talking about.
Liv was the best heroine I've read in a long time. She was fierce, told it like it was, yet could admit when she did wrong and apologize for it. She kept up a strong facade, but behind those walls she built, was the most broken soul who just needed someone to believe in her, encourage her and push her to her limits. All to show her that she really was a kick butt (again keeping it clean) girl who knew her worth in the world.
Will - oh Will - you dark, brooding, fancy-pants, hunky man. You are too perfect in your own way and so deserve to be loved as much as you give love. Yet he too is broken and needed to find a way to heal. I loved his devotion to keeping Liv in his life in whatever way it meant, whether as a friend, boyfriend or nemesis.
I know for a fact that the next couple of days will be spent in a book hangover. I feel sorry for the next few stories I read as they likely are going to pale in comparison to this story. It's been a while since a book hit me as strongly in the feels as this one did.

The book hangover was strong with this one! Let me start off by saying that Liv was not my favourite character by any means in the first two books. Skye did such an amazing job of flipping the script and making it Liv's story that I forgot why I didn't like her in the first place. This is hands down my favourite book in the series, mainly because Liv's character resonated with me so much. If you've not read the first two, I urge you to go read them. With all the heat and angst in Liv and Will's story, also came sweetness and tenderness that was written so beautifully. These two literally made my heart burst at the seams. The love scenes were hot as hell and they were clearly made for each other. I could cry at how much I love these two. I love enemies to lovers. I love brother's best friend. This book had everything I could ever want and more. Skye has made a number one fan out of me for life.
Another lovely read by Skye! I think this is my favorite Anti-belle book. • Will and Liv have known each for so long, he is her brother best friend and part of her family. So much so, that Liv’s brother made it clear that she is definitely off limits when they were younger. But Liv’s is the one for Will and he doesn’t know how to make her is. At the same time, Will has been starring in Liv’s dreams and fantasies forever, but he’s always so cold and distant, that he can’t possibly feel the same. • And then, they find that is not hatred and indifference that one feels for the other and their chemistry is off the charts. But is this relationship worth risking Will friendship with Liv’s brother? And would Liv get the courage to fight for them? • The characters are so damn cute that I wanted to befriended them all. Liv’s family is the best and Will is adorable. • Congratulations Skye, you did it again!
Nemesis is book 3 in the Anti-Belle series, and it is flippin' amazing!!!! It's a steamy, OTT, frenemies-to-lovers, forced-proximity, grumpy-sunshine, girl gets her brother's best friend rom com. Liv is a sassy, feisty, headstrong girl. Will is a hunky, grumpy, somewhat of a jerk, best friend of her older brother. He secretly really likes Liv even though they fight constantly. When he comes to stay with them for the summer, sparks fly...OMG the chemistry and the banter between these two was OFF THE CHARTS HOT 🔥🥵🔥. But there is also a lot of drama and angst before we get our happy ending. Be warned, it is an emotional roller-coaster, but oh, so worth the ride!! And for the record, Tom is a jerk and did not redeem himself in my eyes.

I could not put this book down. This was a great twist on enemy to lovers trope!
Liv and Will are at each others throats. He is her older brother’s annoying best friend, always crashing family events, and throwing shady looks while looking devastatingly handsome. She is his best friends little sister, always been just inside his orbit, driving him crazy with every curve of her body and word out of her mouth.
Their story is one of frustrating angst and steaming mind blowing connections! Skye McDonald did an excellent job at bringing these characters together and giving them all the tools to drive us crazy.
There were SEVERAL occasions where I yelled and had to shut this book. These two had every difficult path to overcome, but in the end Will wasn’t willing to let Liv not be apart of his life. He either was going to have Liv Malani or no one… and he is over being alone.
Liv Milani has learned how to protect her heart because she won’t let any of the usual situations bother her. She just doesn’t care anymore. And she feels that way about Will Langer, her brother’s best friend. They don’t get along. So when he comes to live with them over the summer, she is ready for him.
As for Will, he does have feelings for her. He just never let it be known. He knows that living with them this summer won’t be easy. But will he give in to his feelings and show her what she means to him? Can he help her to heal? Or will he somehow resist temptation?
Liv’s brother made it clear years ago that she’s off limits to his friend Will. Liv thinks he’s a jerk anyway , but he longs to show her how wonderful he thinks she is….but he can keep his pines under control , well usually he can. Liv is outraged that Will will be sharing her house ….its going to be a long hot summer!! Their white heats of passion burns bright on those hot sizzling nights but they need to keep it under wraps that they’re actually rapt in each other. Good writing and entertaining.

This is my second favorite Skye McDonald. I loved Just Your Type so much but this one is a close second. Liv and Will have so much chemistry and before they get together, I just wanted to scream at them. Liv was very oblivious for unknown reasons and she seemed a little lost about what she wanted to do with her life for a while. I really love the friendships in this group and the closeness they all have. Can't wait for the next one in the series.
This is the third book ion this incredible series, and this is Will and Liv’s story. This is a well written emotional roller coaster, with enemies / lovers, brother’s, best friend, family, friendships, forbidden romance, loyalty, secrets, tension, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and steamy addictive page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow. Wow. Wow. The heat. The tension. The flipping fire. I did not want to put this book down. I've read the other two books in this series and loved them, but this was my favorite. Both characters were so relatable, and man did they have chemistry.
Definitely pick this book up. In fact, read the entire series from start to finish. You won't regret it.
Will is a different kind of hero. I believe he's what the kids these days refer to as a "stern brunch daddy." He's quiet. Deep. Holds himself in check. But not in the bedroom. In the bedroom, he burns it down. And Liv, with her fiercely protected heart, needs him to burn those walls down. Every wall. Together, they are fire. Sometimes destructive, but growth happens from their fire, too.
Like the rest of the series, Nemesis takes place in Nashville and is steeped in music. This brother's best friend/enemies to lovers steamy contemporary is another beautiful story from this supremely talented author! Highly recommend.
I loved it and i am surprised. Not going to lie, I did not want to read Liv's story. I was mad at her for Celeste and Mel, so i almost skipped it. But I guess this book proves you cannot judge a person entirely by how they act in one moment and you never know what some one is going through . I now love Liv and will. He is perfect for her. Who doesn't love a brother's best friend? As well as someone who will challenge you and not let you hide , yes please!! *not a spoiler but definitely read the trigger at the beginning and ensure your mentally ready to read it. And know it is ok if not, the rest of the series is great!*
