Nariyuki Yuiga comes from an impoverished family, so he’s eager to secure a full scholarship to college before he graduates high school. His principal agrees, with one stipulation—he must tutor the two smartest girls at school and make sure they get into their target colleges!

Fumino Furuhashi is truly gifted when it comes to literature, but not so great when it comes to the sciences…much to the disappointment of her father. Can they find common ground and repair their relationship before it’s too late?

Volume notes:
This volume contains the last couple of chapters of Fumino's arc from the last volume. It would have been better if all of them were collected in one volume/

The manga-ka is conditioning its readers for a pairing that would foreshadow the conclusion of this series. There is no doubt the manga-ka favors one pairing above all others, and it is pretty obvious if one has been reading this series faithfully.

Series review:
"We Never Learn" or #BokuBen is a comedy manga that draws its laughs from the interactions of the main character Yuiga with his harem, I mean, his classmates Fumino, Ogata, and Uruka. He tutors them, with a college scholarship on the line for him. There are also two other supporting characters in the periphery, teacher Kirasu, and recent alum Asumi, whose orbits sometimes cross into the paths of the main cast. It has the usual pervy tropes found in manga of its ilk, although toned down because of the high school setting. It was a manga I did not expect to enjoy as much as I did. It gave me that "finale high" which I associate with stories that get me as a reader.

One reason I probably enjoyed this series is the earnestness of the main character. One can't help but cheer for him. He's a good guy and hopelessly clueless sometimes, which is main component of his charm.

My rating for the entire series is 4 stars.

Another solid instalment for the series, which has been on a bit of an uptick after a couple of leaden volumes. There’s something for everyone, as the author gives Nariyuki time with every female in the series. We also get some interesting development for Nariyuki himself, showing how the females in his life have affected him as much as he has them.

The Kirisu chapter this time out is an utter dud, as we’ve seen her be completely incompetent at things more than a few times now and tossing a baby into the equation doesn’t add anything novel to the mix. It’s definitely the low point here.

Furuhashi’s chapters mostly involve the arc started at the end of the last volume and they have the majority of the heart this volume. The ending of this one is very sweet and touching, more than the series usually manages.

The other surprise is Uruka’s chapter, which starts off as a very standard story for her but then veers off in a very unexpected direction for the best of reasons. It’s not like I’m expecting a satisfying resolution to any of this, but this was a pleasant surprise.

Everything else is what it is. The fan service seems particularly butt-focused this time around, though the chapter where Uruka and Furuhashi go undercover is pretty funny. Also please spare me from any more daft hypnosis stories.

Solid, if uninspiring. I don’t find these stories particularly hilarious, but the cast is fun and it’s not a waste of my time. You could do a lot worse for harem manga.

I really do love this manga

I love the girls, I love the story, & I envy the heck out of Fumino. Cute women on all sides, & they all want him. Even Sensei has the hots for our lad. He's definitely a good catch. Hopefully he continues to help the girls achieve their dreams. Even Sensei's & Sempai's. Art, wonderful. I absolutely love the style of this series. Dialogue, fantastic. Very true-to-life. Characters, believable, likeable, loveable, relatable, & in the case of all the girls, completely adorable.

Furuhashi and Takemoto are definitely the standout characters in this series. Ogata gets some... hypnosis stuff? Which is cute, but her stories always end up being goofy one-offs with varying degrees of relevance. Furuhashi gets to finish her arc, and it's a sweet ending. Takemoto gets some heartfelt moments as her behaviour around Yuiga changes as she tries to hide that she's going abroad. We get the teacher... being largely incompetent and having inappropriate thoughts about the child she's flirting with, which is nothing new and sort of a letdown whenever she gets a chapter.

Asumi's chapters might be my favourite? She teases Yuiga but at least there's something to her stories other than "oh no I love him but I can't let him know I love him isn't that embarrassing!" Loving the cutesy stuffed toy but being embarrassed at being an adult who wants a cutesy toy is a fun dynamic for her, I like her friendship with Yuiga more than the other girls who are clearly more about being love interests than actual friends. Like, they all support each other and I can see that they care about each other, but their interactions are always very clearly all about the romance stuff while Asumi, despite being older, often feels more like a peer as the two of them get caught up in work-related hijinks rather than manufactured romantic mishaps.

I love that Fumino gets along with her dad now! We also have a funny incident with Rizu, Mafuyu getting in over her head again, and Uruka becoming even more determined, as well as Asumi falling for a cute character and being cute about it. A pretty funny series so far.

Furuhashi is fighting with her dad (because he's an asshole) and finally gets the courage to confront him about their issues. It ends in a happy resolution but I still hate him and he is a horrible father.

Meanwhile, the rest of the girls are busy striving for their dreams and getting into romantic comedy shenanigans with Nariyuki. But Nariyuki is starting to feel like he's being left in the dust because he doesn't feel free to pursue his own dream.

I'm excited to see where this development will lead.

This series has 21 volumes.

Well -- the first chapter was sublime, the second chapter was very good and then we are back to the same silliness.

I'm beginning to think harem manga are closely related to coitus interruptus; you cannot allow a touching love scene to proceed to a satisfactory conclusion.

I have volumes 12 and 13. At this point, I'm not certain I will read beyond volume 13.
