Pepper Dunn’s life couldn’t be more perfect. In a few short weeks she’s set to marry the man of her dreams, Axel Reign. All she has to do is tick a few more boxes and the wedding will be on.
When her cousin Cordelia introduces Pepper to a wishing stone that can alter reality, Pepper doesn’t think much of it. But when she and her cousins each make a wish out of frustration, they are thrown quite literally into a very different Magnolia Cove.
In this Magnolia Cove, Pepper’s life is completely different. Everything she knows to be true is false, and her world is upside down. Now she and her cousins must find a way to return to their lives—and Pepper’s true love—before they’re trapped forever in a Magnolia Cove they don’t recognize, living lives that aren’t theirs.
Hey, I’m Amy, I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life. And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World. If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me. —In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office. —I worked at Carnegie Hall. —I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one. If you want to reach out to me—and I love to hear from readers—you can email me at amyboylesauthor@gmail.com. Happy reading!
I know, authors can’t please everyone. The series is incredible and while Pepper has been aggravating us by not getting serious with her magic and it seems like everyone wants to talk “at” her about learning no one is enforcing that, but what wrecked the book for me.. well, that was the lackadaisical and blasé attitude to how precious the gift of true love is. To me, the author seriously played fast and loose with the characters just daring fate to take everything as well as the editing left quite a bit to be desired. The book is family friendly!
This is an entertaining Supernatural cozy mystery series. If uncast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Pepper done is a witch in a small supernatural town. She owns the local familiar shop. Her familiar is a young dragon that she raised from an egg. His name is Hugo and he is now big enough she can actually ride him and fly on his back. Her boyfriends name is Axel and he’s a private investigator/picture around town. They are to be married soon but before that happens Pepper and her cousins end up on an adventure that they do not expect but is an entertaining and different look at their lives. Read on and enjoy.
This is not the obvious direction to take wishes gone awry...and I loved it! The subtle decision to make the characters in an alternate reality just a little less than themselves instead of complete opposites really highlights how character influences choice and outcome. Pepper's people-pleaser personality (extra points for alliteration 😉) is NOT well served by less determination; lazy and/or wishy-washy choices make an-easy -to-despise Pepper Dunn. A little less arrogance allows Betty's very real love for her granddaughters to shine through. Amelia's loving nature gets a boost from being less passive, but the real surprise is Cordelia. Being a little less domineering gives her snarky, vaguely unlikable personality a willingness to follow others and hints at possible self-confidence issues. AND this is the second story in a row that has Cordelia triggering the problems. Kudos, Ms. Boyles; it takes adept writing to create such an engaging cozy mystery with no murder to solve. This reader enjoyed the big switch but eagerly looks forward to the real Magnolia Cove!
Finally an installment that doesn’t begin in murder, but boy do things get messier than they ever have been! Our favorite cousins; The Sweet Tea Witches have really stepped in it this time. As we know Cordelia and Amelia’s fathers are genies! They have officially opened a wishing shop in the magical town of Magnolia Cove! Now this is all fine and dandy until the girls start accidentally making wishes. During a little dust up at the wedding dress shop, Pepper gets a bit fed up and just wishes the wedding wasn’t happening! But of course, Pepper doesn’t really mean it! She was just a little frustrating and was venting around a very dangerous Wishing Stone! The Sweet Tea Witches are automatically transported to another dimension where their lives are VERY DIFFERENT. Let’s just put it this way Cordelia is dating Axel, Sheldon had no recollection of Amelia, and Pepper is set to marry Rufus is just three days! I don’t want to spoil anything for you guys but this was one of the most exciting books in this series! I loved all the differences between the world they are stuck in and the world in which they belong! It’s also really fun to see the “what if’s” of Pepper and Rufus taking their relationship to the next level. Once again never a disappointment once you enter the town of Magnolia Cove! I can’t wait to keep reading because we do know the girls make it home! And there’s a very special werewolf and witch set to be married in about two books time!
When 3 girls make a wish at the same time all 3 of them are whisked away to an alternate reality granting the wishes of 2 of them and twisting the wish of the 3rd. Amelia, Cordelia and Pepper find themselves in an alternate reality where Pepper is getting ready to go through a bonding ceremony with Rufus before they get married, Amelia's boyfriend is Garrick and Cordelia is with Axel. Cordelia's father believes the girls have to live this new life for a few days before the wishing stone will return them to their own timeline, but Betty believes they need to do the opposite to get back. Amelia follows Betty's advice and chases after Sherman, dumping Garrick. Pepper follows her uncle's advice and finds herself falling madly in love with Rufus thank to the spell binding them in successive stages of the bonding ceremony. And Cordelia, who saw red when Garrick kissed Amelia, knows her heart like with him. When Amelia is sent back and her doppleganger arrives back in her own timeline, Cordelia knows what she has to do, but is it too late for Pepper?
YAS! Ratchet’s wishes came true, too. I’m so happy!
In this read Pepper and her cousins Amelia and Cordelia all make wishes at the same time and something happens that changes their lives. For the better? Not necessarily.
In this new life, everything is upside down. Pepper is marrying Rufus, for gosh sakes’ y’all! Axel? Well, he’s with one of the cousins, but still has a fire for Pepper, but Pepper is becoming confused in this new reality about which man she’s supposed to be with.
Other things backwards? Well, Mattie is dead and Pepper is selling her familiar shop. Wow it’s confusing!
I was on the edge of my seat and getting more and more frustrated with Pepper’s stubbornness. Since when is she one to follow the rules?? Apparently in this parallel plain. I read this book the whole way through in only a few hours. I just had to know what happens! Shoot, I even missed work just to read! Ok, I’m also sick, but…
Next is book 15 of 28 in the Sweet Tea Witch Mysteries: “Southern Dreams”. I wonder what mischief lies ahead…
Pepper is getting ready for her wedding. She, Cordelia and Amelia end up in an alternate reality where things are rather different from what they are used to. Questions arise, of course. Do they defy what seems to be happening and hope to get back to their own reality or do they play along and hope to get back that way?
Further, it's complicated by the fact that in the alternate reality Pepper is to marry Rufus and the marriage will take place soon. Certain ceremonies have to be performed and, if she is not careful, Pepper will be tied to Rufus permanently.
Then there's certain missing familiars, a new one and the revelation that this alternate Pepper is not necessarily the nicest person around. It all makes for another good story in this series.
Phew! What a ride. I couldn't put this one down. As you can see I binged the entire thing in one day.
In this book, Pepper, Amelia and Cordelia all make a wish at the exact same time. It whisks them away to an alternate timeline where things are all sorts of messed up. Amelia is dating Garrick, Cordelia is dating Axel, and Pepper is marrying Rufus! Oh no.
In this book we get to play out what life would have been like if Pepper had chosen Rufus over Axel. Romantic dates and a bonding ceremony. Tense altercations between the mismatched pairs. Conflicting advice how to fix everything. Can true love survive an alternate timeline?
Pepper was being a bit stupid in this one, but the way Rufus is described, who can blame the confusion?

I read two full books last night, this being one of them. I’m not sure if the fact that I’ve been reading no books lately (nothing to compare this one to), but I think this may have been one of my favorites in the series.
I think I just liked having less Axel and more Rufus, although this book did made me like axel more. Also, everyone was really bad at acting like their alternative selves. Like you can’t react out loud to new things, how did no one figure it out. The scene with the raccoon, Ratchet, was super cute tho. I hope pepper takes him as a familiar too.
Southern Wishes book 14 of The Sweet Tea Mysteries
Book 14 seemed very different to me, more difficult to hold my concentration so I could finish reading. I kept wanting things to go back to normal. I guess it’s true that the grass is always greener on the other side until you end up being on the other side. Amelia, Cordelia and Pepper fall into a nightmare mystery and only they can get themselves out. 😊
interesting book #14 in the sweet tea witches series
I have to admit it took me a while to finish this book in the series. It was so hard following Pepper into an alternative universe, and what changes existed there for her. It’s been my least favorite so far. When the resolution happened in the last chapter, it was done rather quickly, after dragging out the story for so long…. It felt rather abrupt. I am definitely looking forward to the next book!
I liked this book as it went into a totally different way than I expected. When Pepper, Cordelia, and Amelia ended up in another dimension it was really interesting. I knew things would be different, but not to the extreme that they were. I really recommend this book as it's really good.
Don’t think less of me for reading these! Lol. Once I finish heavier things, I crave these mindless books. This was actually one of my favorites in this series. Pepper and her cousins accidentally wish themselves into an alternate reality and need to find a way back home. A nice change from the typical “who done it” murder story lines.
I just finished reading Southern Wishes and my oh my it was great. The cousins make a wish accidentally and find out that the grass isn't always green on the other side. Every thing is really messed up and they have figure out how to fix things. You have to read this book and go on a wild ride .
In this book Pepper and her cousins make wishes in anger. When there wishes come true they end up in an alternative universe. In this place Rufus and Pepper are getting married Amelia is with Garrick and Cordelia is with Axel. This was a very interesting book by Amy Boyles. I couldn't put it down.
Another amazing installation in the world of the sweet tea witches! It is always full of family, magic, mystery, hijinks, twists, turns, familiares, witches, wizards and wolf shifters. If any of that interests you, I suggest you get the series and find a cozy place to read. You will not put it down once you start reading! Highly recommend this series!!
You refer to Rachet, the raccoon as a rodent. One who might have rabies. First is all, possums are marsupials, NOT rodents at all. Second of all, possums cannot get rabies. Next, pine trees don’t have leaves, they have needles. Just thought you would like to know.
i absolutely love this series. This particular book was my least favorite. It felt out of place. The main character spent most of the book fighting herself. she is also usually the one to see what is truly wrong when others don't, but she was too busy fighting herself to see that this time or even listen to her family. I did enjoy the book, just not as much as the others in the series.
This book totally gave me anxiety. I'm team Axel all the way. I wasn't sure if I was going to have any nails left by the time the book ended. Kept me on the edge of my seat all the way throughout the story.
While I have enjoyed this series I would usually figure out who dunnit (once all too quickly), but this one kept the uncertainty until almost the very end.
Ok y'all. This book... I can't with this book. I read it in hours because Amy has created a world that killed me from the beginning until it was righted in the end. I knew it couldn't be true, but the getting to the right end, that was a ride! Easily the best in the series. So far.

Good characters. We. Know the people and the town. Things change. This is is the story of what happens when wishes go wrong. How can Pepper fix her life? I recommend this series.
I picked this rating because Amy is a terrific story teller/writer. Her books are funny, easy to read and adventurous! I love the sweet tea witches and their quirky characters!
Never saw this one coming. I couldn't put this one down. The soul searching is amazing. Once in a while we need to examine our true feelings. Love will survive and so will all that's important.
An odd transportation to another reality where Pepper and Rufus are to be married and Axel is the enemy. The cousins also are transported with her. How are they going to get back to their time and place?
My nerves are shattered. "Wishes" had me on the edge of my seat until the last page. Although I knew it was only a story, you never can really know what twist an author will take. Whew ... SO glad that book is over, I could not stand another second ! ☺️
This is the 14th book in the series and I feel like Any Boiled may just be one of the best authors ever! Can't wait to get started on number 15. Extremely entertaining and no heavy thinking involved.
Wow, this was a whirlwind of a story. Wishes gone askew, another world where Pepper and RUFUS are about to get married, and a snarky raccoon familiar. Tension was high and I was very interested in what was going on. I'll be glad to get back to Pepper and Axel's wedding again in the next book.
