Changing The Conversation: A collection of insights for football club boardrooms

Rate this book
21st Club stands for the spirit of winning by thinking differently. Not only is it more fun to out-think rather than out-spend the competition, it also makes more sense. Achieving success in this way invariably creates a more attractive, profitable and sustainable football club. Six years ago we started to serve those like-minded souls in the game with smart tools and fresh concepts to challenge the received wisdoms that can hinder progress. A movement was started that became a catalyst for a new way of thinking in football. The conversation is changing, and we are proud to be a part of the more ambitious and strategic boardroom culture that is taking hold throughout the game. The first volume of Changing the Conversation celebrated our first 100 insight blogs, which we continue to share on a weekly basis with industry leaders. Two years later we released the second volume on our fifth birthday as a business. This third volume comes during a hugely exciting period of growth for us, as we expand beyond our London headquarters to an American office in San Francisco and an Asian office in Singapore. This volume follows the structure of its predecessors, in grouping insights into the following 1.Strategy 2.Talent 3.Performance, and 4.Planning We have, however, also expanded this volume to include ‘The 21st Club View’–additional, exclusive content that you won’t find on our website or in our newsletter. These extended pieces provide a perspective on how we can both navigate and influence the future of the industry, by examining the changing impact of broadcast rights, transfer spending, and club ownership on the game.
