You know I can't resist stories that take place in Maryland, so when I found out about a horror novel featuring a werecrab (yes, that's what I said), I had to check it out. It's a lot like a sci-fi channel "B" movie--think Sharknado. It definitely entertains. If you're even a little curious, check it out. And if you like to feast on crabs, you're gonna need a bigger pot for this one!

It’s October in Chesapeake Bay and something has awaken.
Something that lurks in the waters and is waiting revenge.
It’s a man crab monster that is now ready to wreak havoc on this small town for a prank that went wrong 30 years ago.
Valerie has gathered her childhood friends together to tell them that the urban legend they all thought was lame and stupid, might be true.
Valerie’s sister was dead before she was born and now Valerie wants answers, answers she can only get if she uncovers the truth about this mythical man crab monster.
Valerie’s friends think she’s insane, until she lets them in on the fact that they’re tied to this monster as well.
What starts out as a night of discovery, turns into one of bloodshed and despair.

This is a very quick read, the book is only 100 pages long.
I really enjoyed the plot, I thought it was fun and different.
I was a little nervous at first when I started reading, thinking it was going to be a little comical and not really interesting, but after the story really got started I was pleasantly surprised.
My only criticism is that I think the shortness of the book really hinders the overall story.
There wasn’t enough time to really develop the characters and their backgrounds to connect with them.
Since I couldn’t connect with them, it was hard to root for them to live.
The whole revenge plot was so interesting and I really wanted to know more about the prank and the kids involved in it. I felt like it could be the entirety of the book, but it was just kind of a passing thought.
I would have loved flashbacks telling the story of the prank, what exactly happened, and why.
I just think that the length of the book really did the plot a disservice, another 100 pages could have added so much more detail.
