Despite the gallantry of its courtiers and the gleam of its enchantments, the heart of the burgeoning wizarding world isn’t quite the dazzle it appears. Faced with the secrets of her new husband’s curse, an unwilling queen finds herself with an impossible choice: kill him to save her life, or risk her own to save his. Dramione, Harry Potter fairytale AU.
I am not sure if i spoiled my taste for Dramoine fanfic by jumping head first into Manacled, or if it was just a different kind that i plainly didn’t like all that much.
Some themes or plots kept on reminding me of Manacled so i was half-heartedly thinking that I’ve seen whats happening done better.
One thing that did take me out of this story is… idk what the writing term it is for when you as the reader are inserted into the book? Basically it’s told by your grandmother to you, as a character inserted into the book. Speaking of which, there were some non-pg13 scenes in there that supposedly the grandmother is telling…. I felt abominably awkward by it so it became another thing i didn’t like.
Aside from that, the yearning and longing was amazingly written i just wish it progressed a bit more with the storyline instead of staying kind of at the same level? I guess it did add a sense of stability and comfort for the characters after all they been through so i didn’t mind it much.
The magic was very much diluted. I can’t remember any spells being used by anyone except for the “avada kadavra” so i think it was a great part of the wizarding world not to be used making it a missed opportunity.
Some of the action scenes (if u can even call them that) or any scenes that characters needed to move or do smth around eachother was not really clear enough for me to imagine a sequence out of so i often had to reread the same lines over and over again.
This was so fun. So different from the few other dramoine fics I’ve read so far. This has all the familiar and well loved Harry Potter characters but in an alternate universe where it is the 1700s and a monarchy and follows closely to one of the plots in Noami Novak’s Spinning Silver. The plot involving an arranged marriage, a clever girl, and a king possessed by a demon. I agree with another reviewer that things really take off by chapter 4. The first three were great, but it really hooks you by four. Highly recommend if you want a fun, more light-hearted, different dramoine fanfic. Plus, I just love anything written by Olivie Blake
Olivie Blake can absolutely do no wrong in my book. Her dramione fanfiction is so solid. This one really goes way out there as the majority takes place in the 1700s with Draco as actual royalty. Please it through the first three chapters to get into it because it takes a little set up but man, that hook…
Don't remember this one very well, but I think I read it... four years ago. So, no thoughts or rating really. I think this one wasn't one of my favourites by olivieblake, but I ended up really liking everything I read by her, so... surely, this was pretty great.
JKR is a TERF and I'm not supporting her in any way.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Dramione fanfiction, the writing style is very unique. I didn’t love it at first but it grew on me as I kept reading. I deducted a star because, although this used elements of Harry Potter such as characters, locations and the Dealthy Hallows, this really wasn’t a Harry Potter universe fanfiction. So many things were different that it was altogether a completely different universe. So if you’re looking for HP/Dramione, I don’t think it is for you, BUT it is a very fun story regarding romance and magic!
