Last thing I remembered, I was in my backyard, thoughtfully pruning a bonsai tree. The next thing I remembered was alarms and bells and flashing lights and a voice yelling that death was imminent. And now, I was staring down at a beautiful female clone, gray and featureless, about to wake her up from transport hibernation. On a space ship. In space.
Thank goodness I still had my bonsai scissors. Otherwise I’d never have been able to cut open her containment bag and that imminent death thing would have killed her. The voice said that there was more of them and that I’d better hurry if I wanted to rescue all of them before they were no longer “viable”.
My name is Jimmy Raskin. You can call me Captain Jimmy Raskin of The Eevona Space Command.
This book is and is not what I expected. Being sci-fi erotic fiction, I didn't expect it to really go anywhere.
In addition to the typical fan service, there were some interesting questions. Basically, artificial lifeforms/clones are an oppressed class. If this was a typical story, the main character would immediately begin a revolution and change the face of society. If this was a social justice warrior tome, the female clones would kill all of the evil men and solve the problem with out any help.
This story didn't take either of the easy paths. It pointed out that instant solutions are not so simple, but people can do little things that add up...
There are some cultural views expressed that, while interesting, seem a bit thin.
This is not Thomas Paine and Common Sense, but it is more than a typical erotic sci-fi book.
Mistakes: I found a few places where a wrong word or missing letter messed up a sentence. Plot: This is sex with a bit of science fiction thrown in. Way more sex then I was expecting. I thought there would be a few scenes mixed with a good sci-fi story. Instead it’s a little sci-fi mixed into a lot of sex. The sci-fi was good when it was in play, except for the orgasm drive. Characters: The Freak was the most interesting one, the only one with real personality and growth. Then the author had her stop doing her shows and she became as flat as the rest. The male Mc has only one function, play with his sex slaves and make sure that the orgasm drivers fed. His instant love for four girls he hardly knows is silly and his lack of reaction to having one admit to killing an entire space station full of people makes me think he is brain dead. 3/10 And it only got that high because I really enjoyed the bits of actual science fiction.
TIME is relative until you don't know when it's breakfast
I really enjoyed this book even with the bit of timey whimey space/time confusion. Who wouldn't want to travel the stars in a fast sensuous/ sentient ship and have beautiful clones on board?
I did notice a bit of editing issue with chapters 16 and 17 being the same (except for the chapter title) it was word for word. Any other editing mistakes (if there were any) were negligible and easily overlooked and ignored.
Lots of sex in this book, it does seem to have been toned down some then previous books I've read by this author - depends on which books you read first of course, and I'm okay with that. I didn't come here for the adult content anyway.
I will definitely read the next book - I want to know what happens next.
Good book, looking forward to the second very much, but there are issues. Then again, there’s always issues with books, it’s inescapable, unless your name is God, but even he isn’t perfect.
To get to the point though: Some words are where they don’t belong, or the incorrect word was used. Other than those two issues, I can’t see much wrong with the book, except for the fact it ended at all.
But I’m sure most people feel that way about good books.
Keep up the good work, and again, I’m looking forward to the second!
A sci-fi harem done well. Lots of time paradox's and a story that is kept interesting throughout. Marilyn didn't go hard with the science, but kept it just about right for book. Character development was awesome and the plot was easy to follow, yet interesting. I am looking forward to book to and. The adventures/high links that Captain Jimmy and his crew get up to.
A satisfying erotic science series with the usual 1 guy to 4 babes ratio. science-wise the constructs of non- space, the blink and the use of orgasms to fuel non propelled trips across the galaxy probably as close to quantum mechanics as you’d ever want to go.
Did not like this book. No flow. You can tell the writer is either very young and has no experience in life. Or, the writer has rushed through this book and didn't get enough honest feedback. I will keep the writer at the back because I do see they. They, have a future in writing.
In addition to being a harem fantasy, I thought this story was a decent "soft" sci-fi story. I liked the women, especially the Entertainer. I did think the protagonist was a bit 2 dimensional, but some authors do that on purpose, so the reader can easily identify with them, right?
I was about taken aback when I started First Recruits and encountered the extreme sexual nature of the story base...but...I kept reading and found a plausible story line, some interesting characters and concepts. I finished the book wanting more of this universe and the characters...keep writing.
This is different and exciting. I look forward to the next in this series. The story is unique and held my interest. There were periods that got a little boring, too much in your head stuff, but it had to be to prepare for what was coming. Please let me know when the next book is coming. Thank you Marilyn for this and your adventures.
If you're familiar with M. Foxworthy's other writing, this is pretty much the same thing... just in a sci-fi environment. That's not meant to sound bad, quite the contrary. It's simple escapist fun.
Loves the references, the story was very interesting I don't believe I've read another with the exact same premise. The romance was nice except for the one part at the beach that kinda felt....wrong. Anyway still good, can't wait for the next.
This is a really good book and world brought to life is incredible. Even where Jimmy finds himself, the way it’s described makes it seem like it could be real. I can’t wait for the next book.
Marilyn, you have hit the bullseye again! This book and writing style very much reminds me of a Robert Heinlein story. I am sure you will recognize that as high praise. Wonderful story, sweetie! Thank you SO much!
Love the new angle to her themes. If youve read anything else shes written, this will be familiar, with a different setting. Until the last chapter or two. It takes a turn and I loved it!
I suspect it will tie back in to her other stories, but thats just a guess and I couldn't say which story.
I read erotica years ago until I got bored with it. I don't know why I thought this would be different but I was really hoping for a good story. I think there is a kernel of a story there but it just didn't mature into a real story for me.
Yes, it’s good to be the Captain! This was the first novel by Marilyn Foxworthy that I have read and found it both fun and interesting and I look forward to the next book in the series.
I once said there was no such thing as too much sex...I was wrong and this book confirms it. The premise was too far out for me to suspend disbelief and the unending sex did not compensate...
Interesting premise, great characters I enjoy the love story aspect a great deal Human male finds himself on an alien spaceship crewed by artificial life forms and carved out his new life
A good if somewhat simple happy story that I literally couldn't put down until I finished it I eagerly await the next volume and will definitely read more of this authors stories
What a cleverly written book. There are new classes of characters. There is a sentient spaceship. There is sex. Its descriptive and that helps a with my imagination. I thoroughly enjoyed .
The whole book is a poorly thought out Interpretation of what a man's wet dream would be like. It had potential, but I ended up ditching it 40% through.
