The year is 1778, and British redcoats occupy New York. America’s first spy ring must do the impossible – sabotage the world’s most powerful army. The hangman’s noose awaits any who fail.
When Parker Chase learns that a long-forgotten Revolutionary War espionage mission has been uncovered, he has no idea what will follow. With historian Erika Carr at his side, they race along a path shrouded in mystery, following the footsteps of our nation’s earliest spies.
As they close in on the truth around that mission, a covert group of killers follow their trail, bent on destroying anyone between them and uncovering the Culper Ring’s greatest success. With bullets flying all around them, Parker and Erika must outwit the ruthless killers to stop them from capturing a prize worthy of America’s first heroes.
Andrew Clawson is from Pennsylvania and fervently hopes the Pirates win a World Series in his lifetime.
He is currently writing two series.
The Harry Fox archaeological adventure series involves a Pakistani-American who chases artifacts for the Italian mob. He’s a man caught between two worlds, uncovering history’s greatest treasures while carving out his place in the world.
The Parker Chase series follows a daring banker who unravels forgotten historical mysteries while outpacing modern villains intent on using the past for their own nefarious purposes.
The TURN novels reveal the exploits of a former American big-game hunter turned conservationist who battles to save his adopted African homeland from being ripped apart by greed and violence.
Andrew lives near Pittsburgh with his wife, two young children and a rescued black cat.
I really enjoyed reading this story about the US fight for freedom from the British even though most of the events set in this story are not really true in their entirety, they keep the reader's interest in understanding facts and following the clues to get to know what will be found. It also touches on the difficult subject which is the theft and sale of precious pieces of history from museums throughout the world. The story is well put together, has a good plot but could be a little bit more fast-paced. The descriptions of paintings, works of art, places, and people are really precious, the reader can almost see what the writer is talking about. This is my first experience reading a book by Andrew Clawson and I'll be looking forward to reading other stories by this author. Very entertaining. I downloaded a free copy of this book through Bookfunnel and this is my honest opinion.
This was another novel that I received from the author in return for an honest review.
This tale weaves the historical realities of George Washington's Culper spy ring with another variation of his character's theme(both groups are involved with search for museum quality antiques).
A very good read, that will keep the reader going to the end. I would rate a solid four stars out of five.
As with all reviews, this is just my five cents worth.
Think "National Treasure" but with more emphasis American Revolutionary war history. Having watched the series "Turn: Washington's Spies" on AMC several years ago, I was familiar with the history of the Culper Ring during the Revolutionary War. I enjoy how the author weaves historic personalities& events into a thriller and I look forward to the further adventures of Parker Chase & historian Erica Carr.
Thank you for the opportunity to read your book Andrew
A fast paced, gripping story of a hunt for buried treasure. The trail unearthed after a museum fire that revealed the first coded messages from spies involved in the American Revolution. A solid read with strong, believable characters
A wonderful book that brings history into the present world. Andrew Clawson continues to use the best of both worlds and love his use of history mrld8ng to current affairs.
