A Soul, Between: Book One

Rate this book
As is written on the opening page on behalf of the main character: "I did not intend this journey, borne by events beyond my control or ken. Nor seek my role in history. I am victim of happenstance, trapped between my creation and ultimate demise. And, until I make my escape from life.... the search for it consumes me." This is a story of one mans journey through the ages, looking for the woman he lost and personal redemption. It takes place over a span of nine-thousand years, from Neolithic times through today. It is a tale shared with those who are helping him find his way through the fractured mirror of his life, detailing people he's met and roles played in events throughout history. Many of the actions taken and language used are coarsely described, though appropriate to the events and emotions experienced at those times. Ultimately, this is a novel about love lost and a yearning to reclaim it, spread between moments of life and death, passion and intimacy, while constantly pushing back against the forces of darkness controlling mans destiny.

I’m an author, with an interest in historical fiction novels, speculative fiction, mysteries, and family sagas.
I enjoy writing about strong-willed, feisty women and the men they love, showing them in moments of emotional turmoil, introspective conversation, and physical closeness.
Coming from a blue-collar background, raised with two older sisters and strong women role models, I enjoy the interplay between wives and husbands, siblings, and people meeting, then falling in love.
A lifetime reader, I cut my teeth on every one of the books in my parent’s library, starting from age five on, reading and rereading a wide range of subject matters, covering war, romance, historical novels, and the like.
Now retired, I’m a life-long Mainer living in the mid-coast region, spending my time writing the type of novels I grew up with, telling my character’s stories as clearly, and as honestly as possible.
