As a paramedic, Eloise had seen her share of gruesome horror. Yet nothing could have prepared her for this...
In the middle of treating a frantic patient, she’s bitten. What should have been a simple accident awakened something deep within her psyche that refused to be ignored. Determined to uncover the truth, she ventured out to face her demons.
But these monsters were no metaphor.
The last thing she expected was Jason—a handsome stranger with secrets all his own, who happened to be chasing the same shadows. Together, they embark on a hunt to find the creature terrorizing their city.
Ghosts, vampires, demons, and witches: a world she never knew existed reveals itself to Eloise. Each new magical element uncovered leaves her questioning who she can trust... if anyone.
Fans of dark urban fantasy will love The Blood Oath Trilogy, a gritty adventure with a bite of romance.
Immortal Creatures (The Blood Oath Series Book 1) by JN Moon is an amazing start to a brand new series that I have loved reading. This is book number one and I can not wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this story to all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
I loved this book. It was well written and the characters and stories were well developed. I loved the characters individual personalities and seeing the character dynamics change and develop through the book. The story was full of gritty action and had plenty suspense, intrigue, emotion and chemistry. I’d highly recommend this book and look forward to the next book in this trilogy!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I decided to read this book because I find the wendigo—the mythical Canadian monster created when a person eats human flesh—to be a fascinating and rarely used supernatural creature and I wanted to see what Moon would do with it. I also thought the idea of an EMT brought into the knowledge that supernatural creatures exist had great potential as a vehicle for propelling a story forward. So when the novel opens with the heroin Eloise killing a banshee, I thought things were off to a very good start.
Eloise was bitten while making a call. (I was never clear about what bit her.) Somehow this bite activates within her the ability to see the supernatural and kindles within her a fierce need to destroy the predators among the supernatural community—sort of. She quickly makes an exception for her one supernatural friend (a vampire) and convinces her to help her friend destroy the wendigo because it is preying primarily on vampires. Frankly, this never made a lot of sense to me, as vampires prey on humans and stopping that seems to be a major motivating force for Eloise, but to be fair to her, events quickly get complicated as they try to stop the wendigo and the force behind it.
As the springboard for a series, Immortal Creatures has a lot to offer—vampires, witches, demons, and tons of supernatural creatures. It will be interesting to see where J.N. Moon goes with it.
I received this book free from Voracious Readers Only in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy for an honest review, and I can say in all honesty that if you like vampires and you like supernaturals, you will really enjoy this. Moon has a terrific protagonist, a woman who can take care of herself in a lot of ways and yet hooks up with a vampire out of necessity. This was a fun read, the type of story you have to put down for the night but then it's on your mind to find out what happens next. I'm a slow reader but devoured this in 3 nights. Highly recommended.
*I received a free copy of this book from the author via voracious readers only in exchange for an honest review* Being from Bristol myself it was really cool to read a book set in Bristol, being able to clearly imagine all the areas I walk through regularly filled with vampires and witches made this book more exciting for me. Overall it was a quick, easy and enjoyable read with a blend of lots of different supernatural/preternatural elements. It’ll be interesting to see what happens next in this series.
I like the creativity of the author in this book and the idea of monsters. Eloise who got bit and didn't know what bit her was trying to find out not only who bit her but also who was terrorizing the city. I love the concept of it and I love the supernatural world that the author created. I love that it was engaging in every page, maybe because I am a fiction author too and I love the idea of it.
I have heard of Wendigo before and to me, it fascinated me because not a lot of authors use this creature for anything, usually vampires and werewolves, or even witches but rarely on Wendigo. I loved that at the beginning it already has a lot of things going on as Eloise the main character of the story encountered a banshee, I mean as a paramedic I guess these things occur at night.
A thrilling supernatural story with characters you quickly connect with. I love the world this Author has created and look forward to reading more about it. Definitely a must read!
Nice quick, easy read. I liked the characters, they needed a little more development but that’s what series are for. The mystery over who the bad guy was kept things interesting. Overall I think anyone who reads paranormal fiction should give this a read.
Eloise (FMC) is a paramedic in Bristol (UK) in this book. When on a call out with her working partner Damian they both get attacked and she gets bitten. Giving her the sight to see the dead as well as other things. So now ghosts have taken over her house, shes started hunting demons etc and now shes gained a Vampire Jason as a friend and confidant. The banter and flirting between Eloise and Jason is funny to read. They play off against each other well. Witty and funny. A great read and i enjoyed reading it
I recieved my copy of this novel from voracious readers, and here is my honest review. If you're looking for something supernatural now that you've devoured all the young adult content out there then this is a book that I think will interest you! We follow Elouise, a paramedic turned monster hunter overnight. As she learns to navigate her way around the supernatural world that has always existed alongside our mortal one. I really liked the chapter names, especially as I feel not enough novels use original chapter names anymore. However, I feel this book was more of a tell not show style of writing, which isn't inheriently a bad thing on its own it depends on what you like to read. I did enjoy the more fast action pace of the story progression. I only gave this novel a three out of five, not because there was anything wrong with the novel or story itself, but because it is not a book I would re-read but I certainly enjoyed the expeience.
The author clearly did some research and I enjoyed world they created. As mentioned in other reviews I would have liked to see a bit more character development but that can always be explored in later stories.
My only other feedback would be that there were some parts that felt as though they were dragging on. Additionally, some chapters went a little bit too long for me and could have used a break. That could just be personal preference though.
Overall, this was a good story and I am interested to see more of the author's work.
Creatures of nightmares and a woman turned hunter.
Eloisa was a normal human until she wasn’t. Once she becomes aware of the immortal creatures that prey on humans she became a hunter of evil. Pairing up with Jason, a vampire, The author has imbued Jason with a lot of humanity making him a more appealing character. Through lots of twists and turns, this writer keeps your attention throughout. Great book for lovers of supernatural tales.
I really did not enjoy this book. Not sure if this was part of a series, but as a stand alone it needed more character development or history. I was confused with the opening action until the characters were brought to the father of all vampires. From there at least a “plan” was developed. I felt that the author rushed this book and if more detail was provided, this would have been a better read.
No shortage of supernatural creatures, plenty of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Also plenty going on for romance, though nothing gets very far there. I would have preferred if the two main guys had slightly different names, since they are so similar, it can get confusing at times. Good, fast paced, action packed read that was quick to read and makes you want to read more.
A roll action horror. Keeps you wanting to read more and more. Great characters. Would be great reading for late teens and adults who don’t like too much gore. Really enjoyed the first book and now starting the second already. Thank you voracious readers for the free copy. Great suggestion for a horror nut.
What a wonderful joyride of a book, Moon writes like a house on fire! I found it impossible to put down. A vastly entertaining story from beginning to end.I look forward to reading more from this highly talented author.
Voracious Readers review : I liked reading this book, took a little bit to get into but by the end I was wanting more and as per usual the Cliff hangers just annoys me. But all in all a good book.
