Haven Hart #7

Raven's Hart

Rate this book
Haven Hart stands on the edge of good and evil. Having balance between the two is the only thing keeping the town from crumbling to the ground. For years, one man has been charged with maintaining that balance. Poe.
The air of mystery surrounding Poe is one of necessity. He’s the keeper of secrets and for good reason. He’s stood alone against the most ruthless men and women, always hiding behind the curtain to help his friends defeat what seeks to destroy them.
Now, after all this time, the city he loves, the people he has protected, and the secrets he’s kept hidden are in serious jeopardy. Poe will need the help of his friends to fight the ultimate battle; not just save Haven Hart but everything and everyone he holds dear to him.
When the dust settles, will betrayals be forgiven? Will the city still be standing? Will Poe’s beloved be at his side or will everything crumble? One thing is for certain, everything will be tested, and questions will finally be answered. Raven’s Hart is the final installment in the Haven Hart Series.

This is the last chapter of Haven Hart, and it's everything I wanted it to be and more. All the questions that have plagued me from the beginning were answered, and the men that protect their home had to band together to be tested one last time. Told in dual POV this is a story of revenge, healing and finally finding peace.

Poe has always been a mystery standing on the edges and watching. He defies the world at large to keep his family safe and the home he has loved for so long clean. He has carried so many burdens unseen and unknown by others while quietly suffering alone. But the time has come to untangle the the knot of semi truths and half confessions and learn how to accept help from others. Poe seems so untouchable, but here we see new sides of him that make him more approachable as a father, as a friend and as a lover. At times it is heart-breaking to see and at times so sweet and tender. I loved this Poe that only surfaced when his family was around, but I loved it even more when he let the men of Haven Hart into his home and heart allowing them to see underneath the mask to the man worth knowing.

This book is fast-paced with gentle and precious moments for two men who have suffered too much in their lives. Its at times humorous moments bring levity to otherwise very emotional story of a boy who became a man too soon but withstood all this life has thrown at him in order to have that slice of happiness that he has always wanted with his family and friends at his side. I loved how Ms King brought the series to this happy ending. Absolutely wonderful finale that marks an ending of an era and starts a happy beginning. *sigh* I highly recommend it! 5 full 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯stars!

(Re-read: March '25)

So THAT was a tale! 😲 Effectively bringing an end to the Haven Hart Saga (except for Simon's two spin-off books, which I can hardly wait to get into! I do so very much love me some Simon!🥰) ... this one did NOT disappoint in any way, form, or fashion! Exquisite! *chef's😘*

When I began this series a few months ago, I had no inkling what I was getting into and had never read anything remotely like the blurb indicated this would be. I was just needing something "different" and thought I'd give it a look-see. I most certainly had no idea how much I needed this series! I'm still in awe that 'Snow Falling' was Davidson King's debut! Whaaaaaa?!?!? Well, I'm a changed man ... and so looking forward to Simon's story and others by this ridiculously talented author.

Okay, I could go on and on (and on and ...) but I won't. Just know that this one guy loved literally everything about every one of these seven books! I've mentioned before but, if you're a fan of the Batman/Dark Knight/Titans/Gotham stories, I'm confident you will love this. Just replace the superheroes with a "crime family" and "assassin/security" organization (with morals/scruples!😮) and you get the idea. Oh yeah ... and TONS of love/loyalty all around ❤️💞❤️.

5 full ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐s for the overall series.

“I realize now I can’t do this alone. I can’t keep Haven Hart safe from all who want to destroy it. The secrets were killing me and I am asking for help.”

“We’re going to do this together?” Bill asked. “I mean, can we actually all work together to keep this city up and not kill each other?”

“I think we can, I have plans,” Black said.

“But we have to agree.”

“Are we working on a voting system?”

“Is there a dress code?”

“There aren’t stock options, are there?”

“If we disagree, are you going to put a hit on us?”

Everyone was talking at once and I started laughing. We were a mess, there was no question, but we’d make it work. I believed that.

It’s safe to say I’ve had a bit of a bumpy ride with this series. I love the characters. Absolutely all of them. I also like Haven Hart and it’s mystery. It’s the crazy plot holes that get to me and drive me nuts.

This however was a fabulous end to this series. Talk about ending on a high note.

I’ve liked Poe throughout the series but I didn’t have a clue about him really. I still can’t believe how far off base I was.

There’s so many great reviews out there for this book so I’m keeping this short. But I’m so glad the series ended like this. Now I’m just hoping for a spin-off series.

***** Magnificent Poe, mysterious, and powerful, is a huge force in all of the stories in this terrific series. * He only sees in black, gray and white,
Achromatopsia, which kept him from the sun.

* We've seen his fierceness, and brilliance in past tales, but now it's time for him to clean out the trash and
save Haven Hart.
Husband Phin has left his coma behind...

and we get to see the true love of Poe and Phin, and
Phin's sweet daughter, Adelaide, 4.

* Poe is deeply devoted to his family and friends, as Phin gets therapy to gain back his muscle tone, plus we see their deep love, and sexy times together.
Black and Quill, Christopher and Snow, and their people have joined forces with Poe to get rid of the devil incarnate, Trenton.
There are attacks, bombs, deaths and intense trouble. Our group is determined to defeat his nefarious plans.

There is lots of action, planning, and smaller attacks, and some sadness, too. The war is raging. Our marvelous story is wrapping up this whole series, so we get some flashbacks and a few summaries of past events that bring us up to date. We'll be getting the completion of the trouble-making gangsters.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series; these fantastic characters, their clashes, the action packed stories, and the super passionate, sexy times. They all have shown devotion to their loved ones and chosen families.

It's beautifully written, and the tales are thrilling.
The epilogue was extremely touching. Reviewer, Cadiva, mentions this also.
Highly recommended. ENJOY !

This is like a cross between an action drama and dark fairy tale. The childhood friendship, young love, separation, yearning, heartbreak, and long agonizing wait. They were all recipes for a love that will conquer all.

I hurt for all the years Poe had kept all the secrets and the battles he fought on his own while keeping everyone he loves safe. Phin's role wasn't as prevalent in the current time given the circumstances but the flashbacks spoke volumes of how their love grew and solidified over the years. There is no doubt he worships Poe and is still enamored by him despite the years they lost. I wished they had more time together with Phin already better and strong but I understand the story had to focus on Poe more, the man who has all the power in Haven Hart. I wonder if there were shorts in between these books.

I had been waiting for the elusive heir to reveal himself throughout the series and he did in all the literal sense of the word. But after everything that happened, I realized the rightful heir had been in front of my face all along. Phin might be the heir by blood but Poe was the power house. An amazing strategist, resilient, and confident. With the help of all his powerful friends, it was an inevitable success. I'm so happy for their reunion.

This is Raven's book and also the last in the series. I got my answers but I definitely like the earlier books more. This is not bad but I came for the mafia business - not the children and cute pets. 3 ⭐⭐⭐

Poe's story ends a quite brilliant series from Davidson King but I found it absolutely fitting that the final words in the book go to Snow and Simon - which is where this excellent tale began some six books previous and 10 years earlier in the narrative.

While Bill and Mace from A Dangerous Dance remain my favourite pair, I have to say that I was absolutely dying to find out Poe's secrets and what secrets they were. There won't be any spoilers in this review, unfortunately there's lots already out there, so be careful if you've not read this yet when browsing Amazon or Goodreads.

Suffice it to say, all my questions were answered, secrets were revealed which made events which happened in earlier books make perfect sense, costs were heavy at times, but the ending was everything I'd expect to find in a romantic suspense novel.

I both loved and, at times, wanted to shake Poe during this series, but here all the reasons for why he is as he is were revealed and I came to absolutely understand everything about what made him the man he was.

I was vaguely close in my guessing as to what his secret would be, but still quite a way away from the actual truth and I might have just squealed a bit when that came out because it was utterly perfect and made me smile lots.

The dual POV was such a great way to bring us into the head of (I'm not telling you who Poe's love is so no spoilers here!) Mr Poe and the occasional flashbacks gave more insight and made a necessary addition to the strange mix of found family we've come to know so well.

All the usual suspects are also firmly involved in this tale as all the threads weave together into a dramatic, adrenalin-fueled conclusion.

If you've not picked up this series yet, I highly recommend it, it's one of my favourites.

A Joyfully Jay review.

So I’ve enjoyed most of the Haven Hart series and was definitely looking forward to Poe’s story. He’s been an enigmatic strand running through the entire series, more prominent in some books than others, but always a mystery. So his story is supposed to be the culmination of the entire series … and I really didn’t like it as much as I’d hoped. Let me preface this by saying I think I’m going to be in the minority here. A lot of readers are going to love Raven’s Hart and wonder what in the heck is wrong with me. It’s going to strike all the right chords for some people, but it definitely fell flat for me.

I won’t go into the plot because there is a huge spoiler and I don’t want to ruin that for people. Let’s just say that Poe has been hiding a lot of stuff from his friends, especially about his private life. And I think that’s one of my biggest complaints about Raven’s Hart — the entire first half of the book reads like one, rather monotonous, info dump. There is so much exposition and I felt like it was just hurled at me like a brick. Why couldn’t some of this be disseminated in previous books? I realize a few tidbits were held back to build suspense, but this feels excessive. I also don’t think it’s ever adequately explained why the Hart Family have held sway over Haven Hart for so long or why it’s important to various factions. It’s just a town and while the idea of some overarching controller was always pretty unbelievable, and it really strains credibility here.

Not going to lie... I really didn’t have faith in this finale. I was never really a fan of Poe in previous books but man his story really pulled at my heart stings and had me hate myself for hating him.

This book was very fast paced and while I wouldn’t say that I understand the workings of Haven Hart, I really enjoyed the theory of it. Haven Hart is definitely more of a Gotham than it is a regular city and if you have that in mind there will be a lot less eye rolls throughout the story.

Anywho... back to Poe’s story... I will admit throughout the whole saga I though Poe was the Hart heir... and I was please to find out I was wrong. I was even more pleased to see that his love story was the most pronounced of the entire series. It was a deep and beautiful and really pulled at the heart strings like I mentioned before.

Now the only reason I rated this a 4 star than a five was the characterization, throughout this series I’ve always had a slight issue with it and this was no different. Usually in my assessment I thought our big and bad guys like Manos, Bill, Mace and Black were too mushy/soft for the “anti-hero’s” they’re portrayed as. But this was the opposite and I was actually surprised that Poe was portrayed as a dominant kick ass and take names kind of guy. Really I always kind of pictured him as a twink and put him in line with Snow and Quill, not to say they were submissive’s in this series, because we would laugh at that, but in this one he’s is comparable to Manos and Black... which truly, it threw me off. And let’s me honest... I pegged him for the bottom on the relationship...

Anyways that’s all I’m saying because if you enjoy this series you’d probably kill me for giving you any more details.

It has been a wonderful and amazing ride!

Mystery surrounds Poe. Some say he is the heir to the Hart Empire. Some say he is the guardian of a lot of secrets pertaining to the Hart family and Haven Hart itself. Poe has been a force in this series, he has always been there for everyone. His presence assures support, albeit sometimes unwillingly for reasons unknown, but he is always there, a strong quiet presence. Now it is time for his story.

Snow, Christopher, Black, Quill, Lee, Jones, Ginger, Teddy, Riordan, Bill, Mace and everyone in Haven Hart somehow consciously and unconsciously know the power that Poe wields. He has given them his help in one form or another through their different problems throughout the years.
There are reasons why we sometimes keep secrets. Most of the time, we do it for people we love! But now it seems that things had come to a head in Haven Hart, and this time maybe Poe won’t be able to stop it! Would all the years he tried to make sure Haven Hart remain standing be for naught? Or will he be able to ask his friends for their assistance this time in order to save his heart?

This is the last book of this series, it has been a bittersweet journey because our main characters are amazing and their stories are full of love and sometimes gut-wrenching! Who would have thought that they would all end up as friends/allies. And let me just say that Simon is a very smart young man who would grow up to be so much more than his Uncle. Once again Ms. Davidson King was able to web an amazing story of adventure, chaos and mayhem in this last installment of the series. She incorporated friendship, unlikely alliances, trust and love. Thank you for an amazing journey Ms. King!

Reread 10/2021 review- I still agree with all I’ve said before but I think I might change the rating slightly, 3.5〜3.6 stars?

Reread 09/2020 review- I still agree about I still agree about Poe & Phin and the rest of my original review. I did LOVE getting to see all of the other couples 😁🥰 & I wish there were more books in the Haven’s Heart series.

Original 05/2020 review- 3.7 stars? I enjoyed getting to see everybody, but strangely enough I had trouble feeling much connection or chemistry or something between Phin and Poe🤨🤔🤷🏻‍♀️... Don’t get me wrong, some moments were really sweet but otherwise...

Holy sh$@biscuits! Poe was the cherry on top of the emotional sundae the this series is. Please don't try to just jump in and start here, there is an amazingly rich story arc the is an absolute must read contained in the previous books. I loved every minute of this and although I'm sad to see it end, it was a really perfect ending to this amazing series. Talk about going out on a high note, my thanks to the author for penning this wonderful series and it's fantastic characters. ❤❤❤

This review contains spoilers. Don't read if you don't want to encounter them.

This book was amazing! I received an ARC and I was so excited I read it in one sitting. Let me say this is the final book of this series and if you haven't read the others, you will be lost.

With this book, we final get to know Poe's backstory and how he is tied to the heir. It turns out Poe and Phin are childhood friends whos love for each other wasn't accepted by Phin's family. This causes problems for them both and they are forced to separate at a young age. I won't go into detail about their love affair, because I feel you must read it for yourself to get the full effect.

Now in present day, Poe's friends are trying to get him to come around more. Poe has basically been avoiding his friends because of all the issues that have been cropping up. But it becomes clear early on that he will have to rely on his friends if he wants to save the man and city he loves.

What I loved most about this book, is the heart. Learning about Poe and Phin was magically. They have such a powerful bond and I totally love them. These two have been through so much together, it was heartbreaking. Another thing I love about this book, is the bond between all parties. You have Black, the assassin, Chris, the mobster and Poe, the ringleader working together. You would not think that these men from different backgrounds would be able to work together effectively, but they do. Ms. King, wove these characters so beautifully that it wasn't hard to imagine them working together.

The minor downside I faced was some unanswered questions. Though not having them answered doesn't take anything away from the book. I can't help wonder, about them.

This was a spectacular ending to a great series. I'm sad to see it end, but I'm hopeful for the spinoff that is to come.

5 Stars!

Raven's Hart is the last book in the Haven Hart series and Ms. King definitely left the best for last!

It was amazing to learn more about the mysterious Poe and catch up with all of the great characters we've met in this series and meeting some new ones.

Since this book is one you want to read without spoilers, I will just say that this book was my favorite in the series. I loved the main couple, the balance between the romance, the action, and the awesome ending. It's a highly emotional, well-written story that I have no trouble recommending, just a warning that you might need tissues with this one.

Is it possible to give a book 20 stars? Actually that should be 25 stars, 5 for the individual book and 20 for the whole damn series!
I’m not really one for putting spoilers in my reviews, but what I will say is...this is a must read series and you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t read it! Davidson King is a master of all the wonderful words!
All of our favorite characters from every book are back and from beginning to the end you realize that they are a wonderful part of our lives!
Read the series because I very highly recommend it!

The best wrap up.

Po has been a mystery from the very beginning and in this we finally get his story. That’s not even the best part for me though - the best part is the meditation circle besties 🥹 those guys are the glue to this unexpected found family, softening the assassins and crime bosses and helping them slow down and live meaningful lives. Their friendship is EVERYTHING.

Simons POV in the epilogue is the perfect segue into his story and adulthood. Eight is all grown up 😭

Original Audiobook Listen May 2020:
I'm going to start by saying: WOW! HOLY HANNAH BATMAN! THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE! Now, I've used all those terms repeatedly to express my absolute and complete love for both Davidson King's art of storytelling and the Haven Hart Universe but this time I'm adding it to express my love for Joel Leslie & Philip Alces narration. I've loved their portrayals from the beginning but in Raven's Hart, they are not only telling Poe & Phin's story but all the characters return in this amazing series conclusion(😭BOO! to the ending of this amazing series😭 but 😍YAY! to the brilliance of it's telling😍). Personally, I'll confess I was worried how well the individual characters from past entries would be differentiated. I need not have worried because there wasn't a single second where I wasn't sure who was who. Talented narration, talented storytelling, what more could a person ask for? Maybe more😉😉😉lol.

Original ebook Review October Book of the Month 2019:
First, I have to give myself a big hand of applause👏👏👏👏👏👏 because I managed to do something I have never done before with a book that I have anticipated as much as I have with Raven's Hart: I savored the read! That's right, you heard me, I savored the read. Normally, my biggest tell as to whether it's a winning gem is I just have to know how it ends so I read the book as I quickly as life allows but then when I get to the final page I kick myself for not reading it slower to prolong the amazing goodness. HOWEVER, I knew Raven's Hart was the finale to Davidson King's Haven Hart Universe so I forced myself to "linger" so I could put off that final page and the goodbye as long as possible. So excuse me a minute while I give myself another round of applause👏👏👏👏👏👏.

Now on to Raven's Hart. What can I say without spoilers? Very little actually so as to the plot: HOLY HANNAH BATMAN!!! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!! THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE!!!! Can you tell I liked it? We finally learn Poe's story and what a story it is! Poe, a man who went from yoga-in-the-park BFF to the-man-with-access-to-the-vaults to THE MAN! and he did it all with heart, a heart that beats, breaks, and bleeds. We finally learn what keeps that heart going. That's it, that's all the plot points you are getting from me, any more would just give too much away. Sorry, not sorry😉.

Everyone returns to rally around the man who has helped them(albeit reluctantly at times). I was going to say "the entire cast of characters returns" but I changed it to just "everyone" because to say "cast of characters" puts a spotlight on them being fictional. And yes, I know they are fictional, Haven Hart is fictional, but Davidson King has done such an exceptionally amazing job at world building and character development that they seem so real, that you could meet them pumping gas, getting milk, returning books to the library, etc. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Davidson King is more than an author or writer, she is a storyteller, an attention-grabbing, heart-pounding, adrenaline-pumping storyteller.

If you have been reading Haven Hart from the beginning then you probably already have Raven's Hart in your sights and on your list but if you haven't now is the perfect time to start. As I started with, Poe's story is the finale to this amazing journey so you can read from beginning to end and you really do need to read this series in order. Yes, each entry focuses on a different couple(or throuple in Triple Threat and Snow Storm features Snow and Christopher from Snow Falling which started this amazing journey) with it's own beginning and ending but each book also holds clues to the full mysterious journey. I really can't recommend Haven Hart Universe enough and I'll fill you in on a little secret, if they ever made this into a film series Haven Hart would be a very close second to the Star Wars Saga on my favorite films of all time list(and if you know me then you'll know how huge that is because I've been a SW fanatic since I saw the original back in 1977 when I was only 4 years old)😉.

One last note: I said Raven's Hart is the finale to Haven's Hart and it is but we do get to see more of Simon's story in 2020. Who knows maybe if we are super, duper, uber nice Miss King will write a holiday novella/coda some day😉😉. Either way, its been onehelluva ride, Davidson King and Thank You for this amazing world you gave us.

And one more thing . . . the cover designs for this whole series has been amazing. Morningstar Ashley of Designs by Morningstar have captured the setting of Haven Hart and the ongoing stories incredibly with eye-catching awesomeness.

Home is Where the Hart is

We all knew Poe had secrets and in this one, through flashbacks and current time narrative, we learn about the true heir to Haven Heart; Phineas Hart. And Adelaide, the secret they both protected.
A lot happens in this one that resolves quite a few story arcs, not the least, is who Adelaide is and where Phin is.
He gets his HEA, and we all get the threats to the power of the town, decimated.
There's lots of danger, action, thrills, secrets revealed, grief, anger, love, laughter, romance and spice plus the whole story wrapped up in a big bow.
And the story will continue with the kids of Haven Hart.
A terrific finale.

For all of us waiting for Poe's story, you will not be disappointed. I couldn't put this book down. Once I started reading I couldn't stop until I got to the end. I just wish this wasn't the end of this great series.

We learn all about Poe in this book and how he got the life he leads now. The friendship between Poe and Phin in the beginning was the reason he became the keeper of all Haven's Hart secrets.

Poe's life was one big secret, he has no one to share it with. He couldn't put people at risk so he became a loner looking out for those he loved from afar. He has friends but couldn't confide in them. He knew too much and had to protect the town they all loved. So he did that the best way he knew how.

Davidson weaves together everything we learned about Poe from the first book in this story and builds upon it until we get the full picture. I loved Poe from the first book where we meet him until now. This story gave me everything I wanted and even some I didnt.

Your heart will break for what Poe and Phin endured but now we know one of the biggest secrets in Haven's Hart.

Poe and all his family have to fight the ultimate battle to save Havens Hart. Poe needed help and decided to trust Snow. Who in turn brought in everyone. Together this group of men who became a family work to end the Hart family rain of terror.

I am trying not to give much away but I was so excited to read this and find out how it all ends. This is a must read for anyone who loved the Haven Hart series. Everything finally comes to a head and the good guys win.

The Final Chapter

Aww, the last book in the Haven Hart series. I’m sad it’s ended. I’m not ready to let go, dang it!

I adore this series. The romantic plots of this book and the previous one were not as interesting to me. I was always super interested in Poe and his mysterious lover, but this book needed to be longer for me to get emotionally invested in Phin and Poe. As I read about their bond, I couldn’t feel it. Something was missing. Same with Ginger, Lee, and Jones in the previous book. Something was missing. They didn’t resonate with me as much as I thought they would, but I still enjoyed them for their characters and plot. I did love the romantic plots of all the other books. I think that’s because the main focus was finishing up the series, and the romance sort of suffered for it in the last two books. But that’s fine; I’m grateful for the coherent overall ending. All the characters are dear to me. I’m happy with the over-arching plot resolution. Ugh and the epilogue was probably my favorite part. I teared up!

This was a fantastic journey. I would recommend this entire series and I know I’ll be back to reread and relive this journey in Haven Hart.
